  • 2015 Volkswagen Golf VII SportWagen – Versatility and Fun

Volkswagen US has presented the all-new 2015 Golf VII SportWagen. It is lighter, bigger, roomier, more fuel efficient and more powerful than the outgoing model. Thanks to the extensive use of high- and ultra-high strength steels, the new SportWagen bodyshell is lighter than the current Jetta SportWagen and offers an enhanced crash structure.

The Golf SportWagen is 1.1” longer and 0.7” wider than the current SportWagen model. It is also 0.9” lower, which benefits aerodynamic performance, fuel efficiency and the car’s proportions: the CdA number has been reduced by almost 10 % compared with the previous model.

The interior package has been optimized to give more rear-seat leg and shoulder room. Although the new SportWagen’s overall height was lowered by nearly an inch, front and rear headroom has been improved by 0.4”.

The engine range includes a 1.8 liter TSI with 170HP (125 kW) connected to a 5-speed maual or 6-speed automatic transmission. There is also a 2.0 liter TDI Clean Diesel with 150HP (110 kW) and 319Nm (236 lb-ft). It is offered with 6-speed manual or DSG dual-clutch automatic transmissions.

Along the lines of the new Golf 7, the SportWagen will bring a number of available new features to market including a panoramic power tilt and slide sunroof, 12-way power driver’s seat, Climatronic automatic climate control, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED DRLs and the Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS), Park Distance Control, and available 18-inch aluminum-alloy wheels.

  • JMS Upgrades For The Common Volkswagen Golf VII

JMS-Volkswagen-Golf-VII-shadowJMS-Volkswagen-Golf-VII-mediumThose of you that are stuck with a Golf VII that’s not a GTI or an R will be pleased to know that JMS has this small enhancement pack which might bridge the commons with the performers. Maybe.

It certainly doesn’t sound glamarous. The pack employs a frontlip spoiler “with an integrated diffuser” that is supposed to be screwed and glued on the stock bumper – quite DIY if you as us. There’s also a color-coded diffuser at the back, which again – we suspect – has to be bolted onto the stock rear.

There is, however, the presence of a menacing-looking stainless steel exhaust system with two beautifully rounded 90 mm pipes. You may have also noticed that they sit quite close to the ground. That’s because the Germans at JMS have installed a KW coilover suspension kit which lowers the Golf with 50 mm at the back and 45 mm at the front.

To round things up (no pun intended), JMS have also thrown in four Italian made 1-piece OZ-Racing wheels. The ultralaggeras (super lights) are 8×19 big and wear 225/350-19 tires.

  • Seventh-generation Volkswagen Golf with Market Launch

Volkswagen-Golf-VII-THUMBThe strongly awaited seventh-generation of the emblematic Volkswagen Golf now marks its market launch. The Golf model is lighter, safer, more advanced, more spacious, more efficient and better equipped than any other previous generation.

The iconic car is going to be available in three trim levels from the launch, namely: S, SE and GT, which later in 2013 will be joined by GTI and BlueMotion models. All are in either three- or five-door form. Four petrol engines and two diesel engines will be available.

To be more precise, the petrol engine range starts with a four-cylinder 1.2-litre TSI unit producing 85 hp (63 kW), rising via a 1.2-litre TSI 105 hp (77 kW) and a 1.4-litre TSI 122 hp (90 kW) motor to the 1.4-litre TSI 140 hp (103 kW) with Active Cylinder Technology, which is capable of 60.1 mpg (combined cycle) and 110 g/km (with DSG gearbox).

On the other hand the diesel engines available at launch are the 1.6-litre TDI 105 hp (77 kW) and the brand-new 2.0-litre TDI 150 hp (110 kW) unit. Both of them include the latest common rail diesel technology for maximum efficiency.

  • The Seventh Volkswagen Golf is Out

Volkswagen-Golf-VII-thumbVolkswagen-Golf-VII-mediumTime to get excited since the seventh chapter of a 38-year-old legend is at our doorstep. The Volkswagen Golf VII made its debut in Berlin. More spunk and less fat for this one. Back to the primitive then!

Well, not really. The latest incarnation of the best seller will be still as complicated as a car can be – a new Modular Transverse Matrix body (which is supposedly roomier), a new information and entertainment system and even more interfering assistance software. Nevertheless, the Wolfsburg boffins have managed to trim off 100 kg of weight.

The 140 PS petrol engine is also now 23 percent more fuel efficient thanks to an already developed and tested cylinder deactivation system (remember the Polo Blue GT?). Additionaly, throughout the engine range, a stop/start system comes and standard and battery regeneration as well. Subsequently, we get figures that feel more at home with today’s diesel engines – 4.8 l / 100 km. Speaking of diesels, the 105 PS TDI in the Golf VII happens to sip just 3.8 l per 100 km. Add to that a BlueMotion trim and you get 3.2 l and less than 86 g/km of CO2 emissions.

Do not for a minute think however, that the seventh Golf will slip through without newly installed plants. There are two entirely new generations of engines, designed to offer power from 85 PS to 150 PS.

Be on the lookout for a full specification list.

  • The new Volkswagen Golf VII – Perfection in the details [VIDEO]

VW-Golf-VII-THUMBThere haven’t been released any official images of the new Volkswagen Golf VII yet. However, an interesting video popped out recently from the web space.

The new Golf is promised to deliver improved comfort and safety features, despite the reduced weight of up to 100 kg. One of the new assistance systems is the multicollision brake. This in fact is a complete new feature which Volkswagen is going to implement for the first time.

Other systems include proactive occupant protection system, standard XDS electronic differential lock, ACC adaptive cruise control plus Front Assist and a City Emergency Braking function, Lane Assist lane-keeping assistant, fatigue detection, traffic sign detection and the latest generation of the automatic parking assistant Park Assist including OPS, automated light functions Light Assist and Dynamic Light Assist.

Some of the new technologies which are going to be included here are the progressive steering, selection of the driving profile with up to five modes, an electronic parking brake, a newly developed ergonomic sport seat, a guard against using the wrong fuel in the diesels, a new climate comfort windshield and a new generation of information and entertainment systems.

Another interesting fact around the Golf is that it has been made more spacious, safer and more comfortable. In addition to that, Volkswagen was able to reduce its weight by up to 100 kg compared to the previous model.

All of the above mentioned facts combined with the feature of two new engine lines, result in up to 23 per cent decrease of fuel consumption and CO2 emissions.

To be more precise, the new engines are the new 1.4 TSI with powerful 103 kW/140 PS and combined fuel consumption of just 4.8 l/100 km (112 g/km CO2) and the TDI with 77 kW/105 PS and combined fuel consumption of 3.8 l/100 km for emissions of 99 g/km CO2.

The world premiere of the new Volkswagen Golf VII is on 4th of September.
