2016 Ford Taurus is set for a reveal at the Auto Shanghai at a special pre-show event on 18th of April. The new flagship will be accompanied with six other new vehicles, which are having their debuts in Asia Pacific. Unfortunately, Ford didn’t say whether it will bring the 2016 Taurus in the U.S., but we sincerely hope it does.
The ongoing 2015 model is the sixth generation of the car and it is built on the Ford D3 architecture. The car is currently offered with three engines, which can drive the front or rear wheels. Namely, they are the 2.0L EcoBoost, 3.5L Ti-VCT V6 and a 3.5L twin-turbo EcoBoost V6.
Ford is obviously keeping everything in secret, since we don’t even have a teaser image to show (note that this one above is the sixth-gen). This means a lot to fantasize about the seventh generation car.
And in case we trust rumors, 2016 Taurus should be equipped with body panels made of aluminum and it would also have a new chassis. Sadly, the platform is expected to be the old one. Well, there might be some changes regarding the length and with of the car. Of course, there are no words on the engine line-up, but there is a slightly low chance of seeing something different.
At last, the visitors at Auto Shanghai will also see the Ford GT supercar, Focus RS and ST and other technology tweaks on display. An example for such is the Ford Innovation Lab
If you happen to be somewhere near Shanghai, then you should definitely go see the Taurus. The event starts on 22nd of April and will last one week.

The 2013 model season is an exciting one for the Ford Motor Company. Financially and creatively, Ford is in the midst of a renaissance, and the consumer is already reaping the benefits of that resurgence. This is especially true in the car markets, where the exciting options range from sedans to hatches to coupes. In that spirit, let’s examine the top five car models that will cause a stir at Ford Canada dealers this year.
Ford Fusion
Ford Fusion
The Fusion has been a best-seller among mid-size sedans in America for several years, so it surprised many when Ford announced a total redesign. The new model will get a dramatic style overhaul, and consumers will have their choice of three conventional engines or a gas-electric or plug-in hybrid. The base engine will be a 2.5L four-cylinder that makes 170 horsepower. A turbocharged 2.0L makes 237 hp. The Fusion Hybrid uses the 2.0L along with a li-ion battery pack, which lets it outperform the Toyota Camry at 47 mph in the city.
Ford Focus
Ford Focus
The biggest change with the 2013 edition of the Ford Focus is the ST, a performance model that many are affectionately referring to as the “hot hatch.” The ST is the successor to the Focus SVT, which was available in the early 2000s and gave the best German and Japanese front-wheel-drive compacts a run for their money. The biggest upgrade that the ST brings is a 2.0L direct-injected turbocharged four-cylinder engine that generates 252 hp, which is 92 hp more than the standard Focus model makes. The ST includes a 6-speed manual transmission, and Ford does not plan to offer an automatic version.
Ford Taurus
Ford Taurus
The Ford Taurus boasts a large trunk and a big, comfortable interior, and it is one of the most appealing interpretations of the classic full-size sedan on the market. For 2013, Ford is simply refreshing the exterior and adding an array of conveniences to all trim levels. The biggest change is under the hood, where the base engine will now be a 3.5L V6 that makes 290 hp. The EPA estimates the fuel performance at 19/29/23 city/highway/combined mpg. The standard equipment package is quite nice and includes 17-inch wheels, cruise control, air-conditioning, and a six-speaker audio system.
Ford Fiesta
Ford Fiesta
In North America, there’s been a great deal of focus — pun intended — on the 250-hp ST, but in Europe, the focus has been on the Fiesta, an even smaller hot hatch. The 2013 Fiesta ST, which will also be available in Canada, is a 3-door version of the ST concept car that turned heads at last year’s L.A. auto show. Like the concept, the Fiesta ST has a 1.6L EcoBoost inline-four engine that makes 177 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque, and Ford has promised 60 mph in less than seven seconds.
Ford Mustang
Ford Mustang
The Ford Mustang needs no introduction. It is classic American musclecar, and while there is a new Mustang generation on the horizon, the current one is still a top muscle car and one of the best values on the sports car market. The Mustang is available as coupe and convertible and in six trim levels: V6, V6 Premium, GT, GT Premium, Boss 302, and the Shelby GT500. The basic 3.7L V6 makes 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque, and the Shelby 350GT makes a whopping 662 hp and 613 lb-ft of torque.
Ford has released a nice video highlighting the 2013 Taurus SHO, which hits the race track. The clip was filmed at the Grattan Raceway aiming to show the customers the unique performance ability of the vehicle.
The Taurus SHO comes with optional performance package giving more driving pleasure and including includes a sport-tuned suspension, a high-performance braking system and a revised stability control system with a dedicated track mode.
“The beauty of the Taurus SHO Performance Pack is that it really is a track-capable vehicle, but still a daily driver. You can take your kids to school, drop them off … and head to the track and have a little fun and come back at the end of the day and pick them up and no one would ever know.”, said Ford Vehicle Integration Engineer Robert Kay.
2013 Ford Taurus is powered by a 3.5 liter EcoBoost V6 with 370HP (272 kW) and 474Nm (350 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox sending that power to an AWD system.
Ford has exclusively released detail specifications and high-end images of the refined for 2013 model year – 2013 Ford Taurus.
Housing improvements in the areas of efficiency, technology and styling, the 2013 Taurus large sedan is also showcasing significantly bettered driving dynamics, achieved thanks to the addition of an EPAS system, which improves the steering response by speeding up the steering ratio and rigidly mounting the steering rack to the subframe.
Mark Fields, Ford’s president of The Americas, stated: “We have significantly upgraded Ford’s flagship sedan through obsessive attention to detail. The new Taurus builds on the transformation we achieved in the 2010 model. Delivering so many upgrades so soon further underscores Ford’s leadership and commitment to delivering high-quality, fuel-efficient cars for our customers.”
For 2013 model year, Ford Taurus’ power compartment offers a choice of two extremely well balanced units, the turbocharged 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine with gasoline direct injection, which produces 237 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of peak torque yet estimates best-in-class highway fuel economy of at least 31 mpg, and the standard Taurus 3.5 litre V6 unit that delivers total output of 290 horsepower. Both engines will be linked to Ford’s unique -speed automatic transmissions that offer optimized gear selection for off-the-line power delivery in lower gears, while benefiting fuel economy with higher gears that keep the engine turning efficiently at lower revolutions while cruising.
In technology terms, 2013 Taurus full-size sedan hosts the latest version of SYNC with MyFord Touch system, which offers customers simplified operating, replacing many traditional buttons, knobs and gauges with clear, colorful LCD screens and steering wheel-mounted five-way toggles. Additionally, the new Taurus will be also packed with some amazing sense-pleasing features, including:
New heated steering wheel adds to the comfort of the heated and cooled leather-trimmed seats
Multicontour seats with Active Motion™, a Taurus class-exclusive offering, help to reduce driver and first-row passenger fatigue with a subtle rolling massage pattern
Intelligent Access with push-button start, allowing the driver to enter the car and start the engine via push button simply by having the key fob in his or her possession
Auto high beams employ a sensor to switch headlamps to high beam when no oncoming traffic is detected
Rain-sensing wipers use an advanced optical sensor to detect the intensity of rain and/or snowfall to automatically adjust wiper speed
Rear view camera activates when reverse gear is selected, projecting via the center stack-mounted 8-inch screen
Rear window power sunshade, a luxury-class feature that shades the rear glass at the touch of a button, helping to keep the cabin cooler
To the untrained eye, it’s just another facet in the chiseled, muscular shape of the expressive new Ford Taurus. As the sunlight glints off the rear decklid of Ford’s poised new driver’s sedan standing ready to hit the road, the slight but precise lip of the decklid reflects the rays. It is just one of many interesting visual details created by talented designers from Ford’s Dearborn, Mich., design studio for the new Taurus. (more…)
