  • Suzuki Splash – Mini-MPV?

2012-Suzuki-Splash-thumbRemember talking about the crossbreeding of car segments? Now comes the question, since when is the Suzuki Splash an MPV? Especially the latest one which is 60mm longer than the previous ones, solely because of it’s bumpers. That’s not the MPV way. Yes, the Splash has folding rear seats which provide 573 liters of luggage space but so does a Polo.

Still, at Suzuki claim that the 2012 model has space for five inside and legroom won’t be an issue. As we mentioned, the bumpers are new, the hood and grille are restyled but the price stays the same. ($12,104 for the 1.0l SZ2 model) Inside you also get some refinement thanks to the newly designed seat fabric, the Piano Black finish for the center console and other stylish touches.

The Splash comes with two engines. The one to go for is the 94 PS 1.2l petrol unit. It has Dual VVT (Variable DOHC) and it made a good reputation for itself in the Swift. 55.4 mpg on the combined cycle (choose manual). The 1.0l, three cylinder petrol is for the ultra-eco-minded who will get 60.1 mpg on the combined cycle. But if you plan to carry around 5 people inside and/or luggage (that’s what MPVs do) you’ll find that 68 PS will leave you rather frustrated in real world.

No matter what trim you choose (SZ2, SZ3 or SZ4) for whichever engine, you get four airbags, CD tuner with MP3 player and steering wheel-mounted audio controls; leather-trimmed steering wheel; remote central locking; front electric windows with driver’s auto-down; electrically adjustable and heated door mirrors; height-adjustable front seats; tilt adjustable steering wheel and an information display as standard. SZ3 models get air conditioning as well while SZ4 models with the 1.2l engine get ESP, more airbags, 15 inch wheels, fog lights, kelyess entry and start and tinted windows at the back.

  • Suzuki GSX 1300R Hayabusa vs GSX R-1000 vs Nissan GT-R [HD video]

Dragtimesinfo has released another nice video, but this time two tuned bikes met each other at the race track.

The first one is Suzuki GSX-1300R Hayabusa Turbo K3 with 270HP and the second Suzuki GSX-R1000 Stage 2 with 200HP. The Hayabusa is considered to be the fastest production bike not long ago, but turbocharging its engine is just insane. Logically, it wins the start against the 1000cc bike by far.  The rider of the Hayabusa had a reaction time of 0.014 seconds and 60ft for 2.084 seconds meaning a lot of wheel spin, because of all that power. However, he crossed the finish line at the 1 mile mark with 306.11 km/h and a time of 25.898 seconds (without reaction).

In the second start you will see the less powerful motorcycle – the GSX-R1000 Stage 2 versus a highly tuned Nissan GT-R MK.1 Ecutek Stage 2 with 600HP. Although, the Nissan has triple much power than the bike, it weighs eight time more, so the result is inevitable. The bike crosses the finish four seconds ahead of the car.

Check out the amazing reaction of the Hayabusa driver in the video below.

  • SUZUKI G70 and Suzuki Swift Range Extender at the 82nd GENEVA MOTOR SHOW

ThumbThe 82nd Geneva Motor Show is going to take place in March, where Suzuki Motor Corporation will display the G70 Concept. The concept shows new vision for a compact car, which has to be with minimised weight and elaborated dynamics. To be more precise, the G70 weighs just 730kg and has a drag coefficient at least 10 per cent lower than that of a current Suzuki ‘A’ segment model. As a result of this weight reduction and in combination of the highly efficient petrol engine, the CO2 emissions are as low as 70g/km.

In addition on display will be the Swift Range Extender, which is Suzuki’s latest development in hybrid vehicle technology. The vehicle was first exhibited at the Geneva Show in 2010. However, now it has gone through further development, as a result of which there is a 100 per cent improvement in battery driving range to 30km. Furthermore the Swift Range Extender utilises a generator and a highly efficient 660cc three cylinder petrol engine to power it. Another thing to be highlighted here is that the Range Extender has a more compact lithium-ion battery which is quicker to charge, weighs less, uses fewer resources and also costs less.
