  • Lamborghini Aventador ERA

    2021 Lamborghini Aventador ERA1

Huber is a bespoke coach builder based in the United Arab Emirates with an international audience of super car owners who seek excellence and world class quality when it comes to refining their vehicles.

Entitled ‘Era’ to mark ten years of the Lamborghini Aventador, and to pay homage to the end of its production, the team have focused on creating a new kind of aero package that pays homage to the original Aventador DNA. The Huber Era aspires to usher in a new way that automotive design thinks about the aftermarket.

The brand will be honouring the end of the Lamborghini Aventador production with a facelift of this Italian supercar, showcased through the publication of thirteen images and one video.

Spearheaded by founder Sean-Peter Huber and a team of passionate designers who share a common vision and journey that goes back to their university days as students of automotive design. This new generation of designers are driven by the common understanding that the aftermarket can apply new aesthetic elements and functionalities to the techniques of OEM design studios to create a new, improved rendition on some of the world’s most revered super cars.

The unique design endeavour by the Dubai-based company replaces the front and rear bumpers with an entirely new design in carbon fibre, and an optional carbon fibre bonnet for customers and distributors worldwide. Additionally, the parts will be available in exposed carbon fibre in various hues.

Huber notes, “While we might be the new kid on the block, we feel that when designing new aero packages for a car, you have to consider both a clean sheet of paper and the North Star of its pre-existing DNA as your guide.”

Huber’s founding mission was to give rise to one-off designs, over the years, the company has developed and evolved a diverse design collection ready for production. The team aims to get many of these designs on the road, and, as Huber explains, “the ERA is just the beginning of a range of designs we wish to bring to fruition”.

The car they have been working on needs no introduction: “The Aventador has a large following, and many aftermarket players have added their visions to this car. Expectations are high, so we knew to take our time to get it right; and we’ve enjoyed the journey.”

The brand is on a mission to build a new community of collectors and car enthusiasts. Their passion for car design has put them in uncharted territory that has the potential to open the automotive design world up to a new way of thinking about the aftermarket.

The fully funded project is independent of Lamborghini and production is complete with first bumper units already promised to selected collectors who have been supporting Huber’s vision from the start. Huber is excited to debut the ERA and is open to partnerships worldwide.

  • Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV

    2021-Jaguar-Vision-Gran-Turismo-SV1

A maximum speed of 255mph, an aerodynamic design honed to perfection and race-winning powertrain technology define the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo SV – the latest all-electric virtual race car developed for Gran Turismo, and built in the real-world as full-scale design study.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupé – the first all-electric Jaguar sports car created for the globally-renowned Gran Turismo series revealed in October 2019 – has already proved highly successful, attracting gamers with its radical, heritage-inspired design, driver-focused interior, and outstanding ride and handling.

Yet to the team from Jaguar Design, SV and Jaguar Racing, the Vision GT Coupé represented only the starting point for development of the Vision GT SV. It was an opportunity to re-evaluate everything that could improve performance and in doing so, re-think what an electric Jaguar endurance race car could be.

Fundamental to that process was detailed analysis of gamer feedback from online videos and forums. This ‘virtual world testing’ combined with many hours ‘behind the wheel’ enabled the design and engineering teams to determine exactly how to optimise the Vision GT SV to create the perfect electric gaming endurance race car.

Julian Thomson, Design Director, Jaguar, said: “Jaguars created for the race track and the road have always shared the same DNA – whether that’s the D-type and XKSS, or the I-PACE and the I-TYPE. So, when the design team behind the Vision GT Coupé were asked to create the ultimate electric gaming endurance racer for Gran Turismo, they worked with engineers from SV and Jaguar Racing to create something really special.

“The Vision GT SV is a dramatic and visually arresting car which showcases what’s possible when the traditional boundaries governing real-world car design are completely removed. In bringing this car to life with a full-size design study we’ve been able to showcase the most extreme version of an electric Jaguar race car that is inspired by the past but looks fearlessly to the future.”

Designed as the ultimate virtual endurance racer, the Jaguar Vision GT SV pays homage to its illustrious forebears not only in a host of styling and surfacing references but in its unique circuit board livery which nods to milestones such as the Le Mans debuts of the C-type and D-type in 1951 and 1954 respectively.

    Engineered by experts:

The streamlined, lightweight composite body structure now houses four Jaguar Racing and SV-designed electric motors to the Coupé’s three, generating a combined output of 1,903PS (1,400kW) and 3,360Nm of instant torque with the traction and dynamics benefits of intelligent all-wheel drive and torque vectoring. Acceleration from 0-60mph takes just 1.65 seconds, on the way to a maximum speed of 255mph.

The task of harnessing the Gran Turismo SV’s power to deliver an even more exhilarating racing experience for gamers fell to Jaguar’s SV engineering team.

Jamal Hameedi, Engineering Director, Jaguar SV, said: “We were given one objective: take everything that makes the Jaguar Vision GT Coupé so special – the performance, the handling and the soundtrack – and take it to another level.

“The team didn’t just achieve that target – they exceeded it, developing a virtual electric car which really could compete successfully in the extremes of 24-hour endurance racing. Not only that, they were able to see their work in the virtual world, turned into reality with the production of the stunning full-scale model which will no doubt excite gamers about what’s to come in Gran Turismo.”

The Vision GT Coupé’s elegant silhouette is still clearly recognisable in the GT SV, including the curvature of the C-type and D-type-inspired fenders, and – even with the additional motor driving the front axle – the wheelbase remains unchanged at 2,721mm.

Measuring 5,540mm from nose to tail, the GT SV is 861mm longer overall – a change driven entirely by aerodynamics. To deliver the increased downforce needed for greater traction for faster cornering and increased high speed stability on long straights, the GT SV has a new front splitter and a new deployable rear wing.

To solve the often conflicting requirements of increasing downforce while also minimising drag, the SV team worked with Jaguar’s designers to develop a full suite of features which work together to improve dynamics, stability, performance and efficiency.

In addition to the larger, more effective splitter – which produces downforce over the front axle – apertures in the front valance channel air across the face of the front wheels to reduce turbulence and help air to flow cleanly towards the rear of the car. Air passing through the wheel wells is also smoothed towards the rear via exit vents in the fenders.

The completely enclosed, sculpted underbody – which includes a keel element behind the front axle to aid high-speed stability – accelerates airflow, reducing its pressure and therefore helping to reduce lift, before it exits at the rear via a large venturi.

The single most effective aero feature developed for the GT SV is its deployable rear wing, inspired by endurance racing cars from Jaguar’s rich lineage, including the XJR-14. Meticulously developed from concept to final design through many iterations, the wing’s main, fixed, section wraps over and around the back of the car, blending smoothly into the rear haunches.

The wing is designed as an integral element of the sculpted bodywork while also providing the aerodynamic performance required for endurance racing: two moveable sections automatically rise at speed to deliver extra downforce when needed but drop back to their nominal positions to minimise drag.

As a result, the GT SV has a drag coefficient of Cd 0.398 – remarkably low for a race car – but also generates 483kg of downforce at 200mph.

Micheal O’Regan, Aerodynamics Senior Engineer, Jaguar SV, said: “All the aerodynamic features have been painstakingly optimised through cutting-edge computational fluid dynamics analysis – in exactly the same way we do with real-world projects such as the Jaguar I-TYPE Formula E race cars.

“What I’m most proud of is how we’ve developed the GT SV into a credible electric race car with performance on a par with current endurance race cars – and in such a short space of time.”

    Electrifying performance:

Jaguar Racing engineers developed the GT SV’s extraordinary quad-motor all-electric propulsion system. They also designed the system for the first Jaguar Vision GT car, applying all of their knowledge and experience from developing the Jaguar I-TYPE over six successive seasons.

The work was split into two main projects: A second 407PS (300kW) motor to the front axle to deliver the higher power and torque ratings required. Then the thermal management system was further improved to cope with the higher loads and to ensure that sustained high speeds and extreme acceleration could be maintained throughout an endurance race.

With one motor driving each wheel, the GT SV’s propulsion system generates a combined output of 1,903PS (1,400kW) and 3,360Nm torque. Each motor has its own single-speed transmission: these are designed to give the strength and robustness needed for the high torque ratings, together with minimal mass and friction for optimum efficiency, and the capability to deliver the car’s 255mph top speed.

As well as electric all-wheel drive the one motor per wheel configuration also enables infinite control of lateral and longitudinal torque distribution, delivering a step-change in torque vectoring capability for even greater traction, agility, and control.

Power comes from a state-of-the-art lithium-ion battery pack which is housed low down in the GT SV’s light, stiff body structure, delivering a low centre of gravity, a low roll centre and near-perfect weight distribution.

James Barclay, Team Director, Jaguar Racing, said: “Working on the development of Jaguar’s Formula E I-TYPE race cars in parallel with the Vision Gran Turismo SV has given the Jaguar Racing engineers an unprecedented opportunity to apply their expertise to two incredible electric race cars – our most advanced Formula E car yet, and an endurance racer for the virtual world.

“Both have been designed and developed using state-of-the-art simulation tools to push all-electric powertrain and software technology to the limit, and we can’t wait to see them perform in Season 7 and Gran Turismo.”

The thermal management system is enhanced by an additional liquid nitrogen circuit which provides extra capacity to enable the battery to provide maximum power for longer while remaining within its ideal temperature range. The nitrogen cooling is also linked to the boost button within the cabin to ensure that even during the most demanding operating conditions the battery will not exceed its upper temperature limit.

    The ultimate virtual driving experience:

The unique, powertrain soundscape so fundamental to the visceral driving experience of the Jaguar Vision GT Coupé has been further enhanced for the GT SV version. Reflecting the increase in power and torque from the four electric motors to its precursor’s three, the GT SV generates a sound that is even more purposeful and distinctive, and is authentically yet futuristically Jaguar. Building to a crescendo at the 40,000rpm redline, it reflects the GT SV’s true racing DNA and delivers unrivalled driver reward.

The experience is heightened by an interior designed for racing. The pure, sweeping surfaces within the cockpit truly envelop the driver and position the instruments and perfectly weighted controls exactly where they need to be. Every component is beautifully crafted with absolute precision from advanced lightweight materials, including the new TYPEFIBRE fabrics used to cover the two sculpted composite seats. TYPEFIBRE is an innovative system of performance materials being developed by Jaguar to deliver a lighter alternative to leather with outstanding comfort and durability. TYPEFIBRE fabrics will be tested by Jaguar Racing in the I-TYPE 5 during season 7 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.

  • Ferrari 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale win Awards from BBC TopGear Magazine

    Ferrari SF90 Stradale1

Ferrari’s long-standing success in the BBC TopGear Magazine awards continues with two awards in 2020 for the Ferrari 812 GTS (Noise of the Year) and Ferrari SF90 Stradale (Eco-Warrior of the Year). This brings Ferrari’s impressive tally of BBC TopGear Magazine Awards to 18 Awards in 17 years. When deciding on the awards, the judges passed the following comments on two of Ferrari’s latest models:

Noise of the Year: Ferrari 812 GTS
This open-air 812 GTS is a certifiable psychopath. Any car with this engine – a baleful, wailing, soaring 9,000rpm V12 that fellates your ego while it pulverises your senses – would be remarkable. But when it’s matched to steering this reactive, a turn-in appetite that’s outrageous for such a girthy beast and a gearbox that somehow sends lightning bolts of dopamine down your spine just from a quick tug of the paddles, it’s a driving experience that beggars belief.

Eco-warrior of the Year: Ferrari SF90 Stradale
The hybrid LaFerrari was a toe in the water, but the SF90 Stradale makes a bigger splash. As years go, 2020 has been many things, but a new Ferrari halo car in which you can commute to work on electric power, with something explosive in reserve for the weekend, tips the scales right back to annus marvellous.

Both the 812 GTS and SF90 Stradale are not limited-series cars but are completely new additions to the Ferrari range: the 812 GTS is the first series production convertible V12 since the 365 GTS4, while the SF90 Stradale has created a completely new segment for the brand, with a 1000hp hybrid supercar now available within the standard Ferrari product range. Both cars are also covered by the Ferrari Genuine Maintenance package which covers all servicing costs for 7-years.

  • New Bentayga inspires art in motion digital experience

    2020 Bentley Bentayga1

In association with Secret Walls Studio in Downtown Los Angeles, Bentley Motors is proud to present ‘Art in Motion’ – a virtual event and film series that celebrates the power of inspiration as told through the attributes and focused design language of the New Bentayga – the definitive luxury SUV.

Three prolific young artists, ‘It’s A Living,’ Mikael B and Laci Jordan, as they each document their journey from influence to the realization of their vision, in the form of an original work inspired by the New Bentayga. Each unique piece will be auctioned in December to raise funds for Inner-City Arts, empowering featured artists to leave their own legacy for the next generation of creators.

Christophe Georges, President, and CEO of Bentley Motors Americas, said:

“These artistic expressions have brought to life what we’ve always believed – the New Bentayga embodies the power of influence, inspiration and legacy. The Bentayga has created a Grand Touring experience that is truly without boundaries, and our hope is this collaboration will inspire future generations to live and create in the same way.”

    Three Bespoke Journeys

As the luxury SUV that elevated the bar on the market, the new Bentayga serves as the inspiration for three original art works, brought to life by three extraordinary young artists – each seeking to honor tradition by breaking it. The distinctive artists — Ricardo Gonzales (@ItsALiving), Mikael B (@MikaelBrandrup), and Laci Jordan (@Solacilike) – will showcase their talents throughout the next few weeks.

    Artistic Inspiration

Key to the new Bentayga is its strikingly dynamic look, which draws inspiration from the marque’s new design language, introduced by the third-generation Continental GT and all-new Flying Spur. Together, the three cars form a new family that are more visually connected than ever before. The bold styling offers an imposing road presence, with every panel at the front of the car redesigned for a cleaner, modern look.

Inspired by illumination, designer and artist Ricardo Gonzalez, who goes by ‘IT’S A LIVING’, created a typographic work of art entitled “Light the Way” to pay homage to the intelligent LED matrix headlamp technology that includes the signature Bentley design inspired by cut crystal glassware and the new elliptical headlamps. The lattice pattern offers a unique jewellery-like appearance when illuminated, with a deep, three-dimensional glow. The lights also offer an animated ‘welcome’ feature with a sweeping direction indicator. Grounding in these very details, ‘It’s a Living’s’ signature script style can be easily recognized from large-scale murals where the ambiguity in the text-based messages that continually create a dialog between the viewer and the artwork.

Based in Los Angeles with roots in Copenhagen, what Mikael B creates is motivated by a universe in which everything is possible – juxtaposing and challenging historical art references from Baroque to Cubism, expressed in utterly contemporary fashion with spray paint. His focus for the piece entitled, “Afterglow” is the diamond stitching details found throughout the Bentayga. He states: “I was equally impressed in seeing the way the contrasts and diamond patterns complement each other. I work with that a lot in my art style – combining the soft, the sharp, the cold, the warm, to make that fine balance. When you see that final piece, you just feel a special harmony amongst all of these elements.”

Laci Jordan is a multidisciplinary designer and the true definition of a modern-day renaissance woman. Laci creates under the guiding conceptual theme of “Everyday Life” from her eyes. Though slightly varied in aesthetic, object and palette, her work reflects her deep commitment to creating authentic and unapologetic portrayals of contemporary culture. Her approach and depiction of the exterior designs of the Bentayga, namely the sculpted power and haunch lines, combine with the evolution of her surroundings to create “Things I Imagined.” This harmony highlights Bentley design DNA in tandem with the muscular and elegant stance of the Bentayga simultaneously.

    Philanthropy: Passing it On

Proceeds from the Art in Motion auction in December will benefit Inner-City Arts, the Los Angeles-based arts education program working to positively affect the lives of inner-city children, improving their chances to lead productive and successful lives by developing creativity, learning skills and self-confidence.

Its unique approach to arts education brings students, educators, families and the community to Inner-City Arts’ award-winning campus to work with professional teaching artists in well-equipped studios and performance spaces.

Bentley is set to take part in this weekend’s Goodwood SpeedWeek with a showcase of performance-inspired models that together represent the sporting ethos of the brand. Combining the very best elements of the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and Goodwood’s renowned Members’ Meetings, Goodwood SpeedWeek will take place on 16 -18 October 2020 at the historic Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Bentley is taking this opportunity to showcase three performance-focused models, debuting the agility of the new Flying Spur V8 and the power of the Bentayga Speed in their global public debuts, and demonstrating the extraordinary dynamic and visual performance of the Continental GT V8.

Looking to the future, and inspired by Bentley’s deep understanding of its forward-thinking customers, the EXP 100 GT concept car unveiled last year on the company’s 100th birthday embodies a future vision commensurate with Bentley’s status as the world’s most sought after luxury car brand. The award winning concept car will be on display at SpeedWeek with a dedicated report on the car to be live-streamed on Sunday morning.

Global Debut of the Flying Spur V8
Based on research, customer feedback and trends of customer usage, the new Flying Spur V8 has been engineered to deliver driver-focused ability, whilst offering passengers the refinement, comfort and technology expected from a grand limousine.

The Flying Spur V8 offers a more driver-centric experience via increased agility and a more characterful engine note, whilst benefiting from increased range between fuel stops and a reduction in CO2 emissions.

The Flying Spur V8 is 100 kg lighter than the W12 version, making the vehicle feel more agile and responsive with a distinctive personality of its own. The new model includes the latest powertrain and chassis advancements: Adaptive Air Suspension, Torque Vectoring by Brake, Drive Dynamics Control, and Electric Steering, all of which are standard features. Furthermore, customers can add Bentley’s pioneering 48V electric active anti-roll technology (Bentley Dynamic Ride), and Electronic All-Wheel Steering for even greater agility.

At the heart of the vehicle is Bentley’s 4.0-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine, which produces a peak power of 550 PS (542 bhp, 404 kW) and uses twin-scroll turbos to reach its maximum torque of 770 Nm at just under 2000 rpm

The 90 degree “V” configuration, cross-plane crankshaft and eight perfectly balanced cylinders give the engine its characteristic and unmistakable V8 engine sound and the impressive power output provides a 0-60 mph time of 4.0 secs (0-100 km/h, 4.1 secs) and a top speed of 198 mph (318 km/h).

The Flying Spur V8 will be driven in the First Glance class by Bentley’s Head of Chassis Mechatronics, Andrew Unsworth.

    The Most Powerful Bentayga
The new Bentayga Speed takes the Bentayga’s extraordinary abilities to new levels, utilising the 6.0-litre W12 twin-turbocharged engine that delivers peak power of 635 PS (626 bhp). Effortless acceleration is always guaranteed thanks to 900 Nm (664 lb.ft) of torque, available as a plateau from 1,500 rpm to 5,000 rpm. The assembly of the W12 powertrain takes the skilled engine builders approximately ten per cent of the total hours required for the manufacture of the Bentayga Speed.

With exceptional performance, comfort and handling, maximum speed is 190 mph (306 km/h), while the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) sprint is delivered in 3.9 seconds.

To match the elevated levels of performance, the Bentayga Speed sports a purposeful exterior look. Dark-tint headlights, body-coloured side skirts, unique front and rear bumpers and a striking, elongated tailgate spoiler characterise the Speed’s performance credentials. Dark-tint radiator and bumper grilles, a unique 22-inch wheel design available in two finishes (painted and dark tint) and Speed signature badging add to the sporting design cues.

At the rear, the exhaust finishers are now the oval design that signifies a W12 powertrain. Dark-tint tail lamps complete the Speed exterior signature.
For SpeedWeek, the Bentayga Speed wears a livery featuring Bentley’s Beyond100 future strategy – more details of which are to be revealed soon. It will be driven in the First Glance class by former Bentley Boy, and winner of the 2003 24 Hours of Le Mans behind the wheel of a Bentley Speed 8, Guy Smith.

Continental GT – Extraordinary Power and Style
The third-generation Bentley Continental GT combines spirited, focused performance with handcrafted luxury and cutting-edge technology, to create the finest Grand Tourer ever produced.

The muscular exterior design, created using revolutionary technology, results in a lightweight, yet stiff, body. The engine is positioned further back to improve weight distribution, resulting in driver-focused, dynamic performance.

The Active All-Wheel-Drive System varies the front-to-rear torque split dependent upon the driving situation, and the vehicle will use rear-wheel drive as much as possible during normal driving for optimum efficiency and dynamic performance. Based on the conditions and the driver’s behaviour, the system will also send drive to the front axle as required. This reduces the understeer effect from fixed all-wheel drive, as well as increasing driver engagement for those who revel in the dynamic attributes of the Continental GT.

For those wanting to emphasise the sporting credentials of their Continental GT, the Styling and Blackline Specifications are available. Crafted by hand to exact tolerances following an extensive development programme, the Styling Specification includes a front bumper splitter, side skirts with metallic Bentley badges, rear diffuser and boot lid spoiler in high gloss carbon fibre increases the vehicles presence and muscular aesthetics. Blackline Specification replaces all exterior chrome brightware with gloss black versions.

For customers who already own a Bentley, the Styling Specification can be retrofitted via any Bentley Dealership.

The Continental GT V8, finished in stunning Orange Flame, will be driven in the Supercar class by Bentley’s Functional Manager for Vehicle Dynamics, Andy Marson.

The Future of Luxury and Grand Touring
The Bentley EXP 100 GT concept car was born from pure Bentley DNA and inspired by the company’s deep understanding of the desires of its intelligent, forward-thinking customers. Beautifully styled, it embraces Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a means to reassert the car as a place for creating, experiencing and capturing extraordinary human experiences and emotions.

Designed from the inside out and taking advantage of an all-electric platform, Bentley EXP 100 GT reimagines the Grand Tourer for the world of 2035. This is a world of shared luxury experiences where passenger and driver enjoy equal status in their enjoyment of their extraordinary journeys. The car’s presence and impressive exterior proportions are reminiscent of many of Bentleys’ historic Grand Tourers. The result is a future vision commensurate with Bentley’s status as the world’s most sought after luxury car brand.
