  • Is Skoda Bringing Revolution to the Familiar Design Language?

Since Skoda has announced the reveal of the next generation Superb model in February, we were wondering whether there will be some sort of changes in its design. Today, the company has revealed the next teaser image of the famous model and it clearly shows some innovations and changes in the familiar design language. The new sketch shows an expressively designed saloon “full of class and passion”.

In other words, the design is sophisticated and at the same time elegant, dynamic, contemporary and expressive. The flagship car is undoubtedly inspired by the Skoda VisionC concept.

As it is visible from the sketch, the new Superb will add large wheels and gently rearward-sloping roof line. It will include clear geometry, strikingly contoured surfaces, sculptural shapes, precision and elegant lines. As if it was made from one piece.

The model is about to make an expressive impact on design of the mid-class segment due to its muscular look. Skoda has disclosed that these unique shapes and the entire design philosophy, on which the car is based, can be also found in the interior.

The vehicle will be built on Volkswagen’s MQB technology. This is how the Czechs company will bring about qualities from the higher vehicle classes into the automotive mid-class. Furthermore, Skoda also promises that the car will offer the best values in terms of comfort, infotainment and connectivity, safety, fuel-efficienvy, consumption and performance.

Rumors say that 2015 Superb will shed 75 kg off and it is likely to be powered by the with 1.4-liter petrol engine. The unit will probably produce around 125 horsepower (92 kW).

The third generation model is going to make its world premiere in Prague in February next year. Then it will be introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in March, while the market launch is scheduled for the summer of 2015.

  • Skoda Teases Once Again 2015 Superb

Are you interested into seeing more from the third generation Skoda Superb? Because we have three more photos showing more details of the car. After we reviewed the released spy shots, which preview an expressive design, now it is time to make some space for the official teasers and sketch. All in all, the pictures speak of an appearance which is influenced by the VisionC concept.

They also display that the vehicle is in sedan form but featuring a coupe-like profile. At the front of the Superb we see the iconic for Skoda radiator grille and the unmistakable headlights. Probably they will be highlighted by LED daytime running lights.

There is not much to say, because the information is scarce, but the third-gen model will be built on Volkswagen’s MQB technology. Furthermore, Skoda is also promising that the car will offer the best values in terms of comfort, infotainment and connectivity, safety, fuel-efficiency, consumption and performance.

Rumors say that 2015 Superb will shed 75 kg off and it is likely to be powered by the with 1.4-liter petrol engine. The will produce around 125 horsepower (92 kW).

We can say that Superb has been entirely redesigned. More importantly, it has recently completed the final test series in Southern Europe. The premiere of the new Superb will happen on 15th of February next year in Prague. The market launch in Europe is scheduled for the summer months, while the first deliveries – for the autumn.

  • First Spy Shots of Third-Gen Skoda Superb. Is this the Best Skoda ever?

New-Skoda-Superb-THUMBWe have just received a couple of pictures showing the design of the future Skoda Superb. These photos obviously show the car covered in camouflage but still – its expressive design is visible. As we can see, the Superb model has been completely redeveloped and it has recently completed the final test series in Southern Europe. This is the flagship model in Skoda’s range and we suspect that it will also offer new proportions, space, innovative technology, driving dynamics and more quality.

This will be the third-generation Superb. It will come to offer highest functionality with a better package. What we have understood so far is that the amount of space and boot size has grown and they are to set a new benchmark in the segment.

The vehicle will be built on Volkswagen’s MQB technology. This is how Skoda will bring about qualities from the higher vehicle classes into the automotive mid-class. Furthermore, the Czechs company also promises that the car will offer the best values in terms of comfort, infotainment and connectivity, safety, fuel-efficienvy, consumption and performance.

The premiere of the new Superb will happen in the middle of February next year in Prague. Two weeks after that it will be shown at the Geneva Motor Show. The market launch is scheduled for mid-2015 in Europe and the first deliveries are about to happen in the autumn of the same year. The question left unanswered is: Are we to see the best production Skoda model?

  • Skoda Octavia, Superb and Yeti Tour de France Special Editions

Skoda has announced several Tour de France Special Edition models including Yeti, Octavia and Superb for the UK. Available in either Red, White or Blue – the national colours of both the UK and France – only 198 units of each car are available to customers. That’s the exact number of cyclists entered into this year’s race. This year’s Tour de France will start in the UK on July 5th.

Priced at £23,490, the Yeti TdF is based on the Outdoor SE 2.0 litre TDI 140HP (103 kW) 4×4 model. Additional specification includes an Amundsen satellite navigation system with DAB digital radio, Keyless Entry and Start System, floor mats and an internal bike rack.

The Superb TdF is priced at £28,490 and is based on the Estate Outdoor 2.0 litre TDI 140HP (103 kW) 4×4 and has the same enhancements as the Yeti, along with a space saver spare wheel and boot net programme.

Priced at £24,290, the Octavia TdF is based on the Estate SE 2.0-litre TDI 150HP (110 kW) 4×4 model. It has the same enhancements as the Yeti and Superb, with the addition of roof bars and a roof-mounted bike carrier instead of an internal one.

With the famous race starting on 5th July, this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed – just a week before, on 26–29 June – was the obvious place for Skoda cycling credentials to take centre stage. Visitors will even get the chance to win VIP hospitality tickets to see the cycling action.

Visitors to the Skoda pavilion at this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed will be invited to ‘Ride the Summit’ with the chance to stand on top of the podium against the spectacular backdrop of Goodwood House.

  • OK-Chiptuning Gives Two Faces To Skoda Superb

OK-Chiptuning-Skoda-Superb-THUMBThe professionals at OK-Chiptuning have released a unique project, and to be more precise – they have given the Skoda Superb new and more extravagant visual characteristics as well modification of the engine.

After the transformation, the 2.0 liters TDI powerplant is more fuel efficient but at the same time powerful. In fact, it is now capable of generating 210 horsepower (155 kW) and 435 Nm (321 lb-ft) torque in comparison to its serial 170 hp (125 kW) with 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque.

Furthermore, there was also done a suspension optimization via H&R coilovers and was added a H&R stabilizer kit. Ttuners have equipped this Skoda with Audi A6 (4G) steel rims in dimensions of 8,5×20 inch, which are coupled with Z-Nero Pirelli tyres in the format of 235/35ZR20.

But what immediately grabs the attention at first glance is the unusual exterior that this car sports. It has two faces: the first done by foil wrapping delivered by Cam Shaft CAM SHAFT, which is at the right half and is in muted gray color; and the second – the left car half, which is red.

However, the separation between the two colors runs not exactly in the middle, but it is shifted about 20 cm to the left. At last, what rounds off the visual characteristics of the car are the large red stickers on its right side.

  • 2013 Skoda Superb – Facelift

Skoda has announced the new 2013 Superb Facelift. The top model of the manufacturer is now even more attractive, as Skoda CEO Winfried Vahland commented.

The new Superb impresses with improved fuel economy and features new solutions in terms of technology. At the same time, the Superb confirms all the good values that have made this model line a success for 12 years now.

The exterior boasts a completely new front and rear end. We can see clear lines, precise quality and balanced proportions.

The grille, car logo, head and fog lights, bumpers, front wings and bonnet are new. Available for the first time in the Superb line-up are bi-xenon headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The rear features LED stripes fitted as standard on all models. o triangular elements on the Hatch are another unmistakable feature of the new Skoda design.

The interior boasts new fabrics and patterns for the seat covers as well as new designs. The top-of-range Laurin & Klement has a new brown-ivory colour combination.

The engine range remains the same, but with more than 19 % fuel economy compared to their predecessors. This happens thanks to Start–stop and kinetic energy recuperation technology.

The optional Hill Hold Control ensures a smooth uphill start without use of the handbrake. An electronic Tyre Pressure Monitor (TPM) is also fitted as standard on the Elegance and range-topping Laurin & Klement trim.

In case of an accident, passengers are protected by up to 9 airbags as well as 3-point seat belts and height-adjustable headrests.

  • Skoda MissionL Concept Targets Qatar Motor Show

SKODA-MissionL-concept-thumgLast year, Skoda have delivered 879,200 vehicles to budget oriented, sensible customers. That’s 15% more in comparison with 2010 sales. Today Skoda are planing to keep up that pace by expanding to the East. The Qatar Motor Show will see the Skoda MissionL concept for the first time outside European land.

Just for the record, when we say concept we do actually mean an almost-ready-production-car. The MissionL goes on sale in late 2012 and it is designed to fill in the gap between the Fabia and Octavia (a sort of a small family saloon segment). Skoda say that the design features on the MissionL act as a definitive of the company’s future approach on aesthetics. For starters, this concept is among the first proud wearers of the new Skoda badge. The  outside lines of the saloon are more simple yet sharper which gives an overall athletic feel. The grille is framed in chrome while consisting of vertical plate fins that attribute to the depth of the whole front end. Daytime running lights and blinkers are mere luminescent bands positioned at the edges of the main headlights as fog lights frame the lower grille. The party piece however, is the tinted yet transparent glass roof that spans over the whole cabin. The interior is a feast of sensibility, neatness and efficiency seasoned with a bit of luxury thanks to the bichrome wheel, control panel and seat covers.

    Skoda MissionL Concept (2012)
    Skoda MissionL Concept (2012)

Skoda has already started its offense on the market with the launch of the Citigo in the Czech Republic and the introduction of the Rapid in India and feedback seems positive. The company’s plan within the near 5 years is to get those annual sales up to 1,5 million. • Skoda adds Haldex AWD system to Octavia and Superb

The new system will be available as an option for Superb and Octavia along with a new 2.0 liter TDI with DSG transmission. (more…)
