  • 1,109 horsepower for the Ferrari SF90 Stradale

2022 NOVITEC Ferrari SF90 Stradale - front view

Its hybrid drive featuring a four-liter, twin-turbo V8 internal combustion engine and three electric motors make the Ferrari SF90 Stradale a hi-tech super sports car in a class of its own already ex-factory. And thus the perfect basis for NOVITEC, the world’s leading refinement specialist for the sports cars from Maranello, for enhancing the fascination of this mid-engined fireball even further with a sophisticated refinement range.

This naturally also includes a performance boost for the turbocharged eight-cylinder engine. Modified engine controls and a high-performance exhaust system with metal catalysts deliver an increase in output by 80 kW / 109 hp. In concert with the electric drive, this results in a system output of 816 kW / 1,109 hp.

With this much power, the all-wheel-drive two-seater catapults itself from zero to 100 km/h in a mere 2.4 seconds and reaches 200 km/h in a scant 6.3 seconds. The top speed increase to over 340 km/h.

Aerodynamic efficiency and thrilling racing looks distinguish the naked-carbon bodywork components developed by the NOVITEC designers for the SF90 Stradale.

Another specialty of the German automotive tuner are custom wheels such as the 21-inch hi-tech forged wheels developed in cooperation with US manufacturer Vossen.

Sports springs and exclusive interior design are further available options in the range.

The NOVITEC power unit engineers have specialized for decades in making high-performance engines even more powerful. They also brilliantly accomplished their mission on the four-liter, twin-turbo V8 internal combustion engine of the SF90 Stradale’s hybrid drive system. To this end, two plug-and-play NOVITEC N-TRONIC control modules are adapted to the engine electronics. They supply the engine controls with reprogrammed maps for injection and ignition, and raise the electronic boost pressure limitation.

In order to let the combustion engine breathe more freely and generate an even sportier exhaust note, NOVITEC developed high-performance exhaust systems available in different variants. They come with or without electronic sound management by means of actively controlled butterfly valves in the exhaust and offer a choice of different materials. All of them feature thermal insulation to reduce the temperatures in the engine bay. Variants with 999 fine gold plating are also available for maximum heat dissipation. If desired, this also visually exceptional option is available for the two 112-millimeter stainless tailpipes with carbon embellishers as well and gives the rear end a very special exclusive touch.

In order to optimize the power delivery even further, NOVITEC additionally offers 100-cell sport catalysts with thermal insulation. What is more: They can also be ordered with gold plating.

When all NOVITEC high-performance components are installed, the combustion engine produces 80 kW / 109 hp more than in stock configuration and thus develops 654 kW / 889 hp at 7,300 rpm. Peak torque grows from 800 Nm to 918 Nm at 6,100 rpm. In concert with the three unmodified electric motors, this NOVITEC upgrade delivers a system output of 816 kW / 1,109 hp.

The performance of the all-wheel-drive hybrid athlete is accordingly phenomenal. The two-seater slings itself to 100 km/h in just 2.4 seconds and reaches the 200-km/h mark after a mere 6.3 seconds. The top speed increases to over 340 km/h.

However, the fascination of the NOVITEC performance boost for the Ferrari SF90 Stradale lies in more than just the further optimized driving performance. Equally fascinating is the even more instant throttle response and the even more powerful in-gear acceleration in any driving situation.

The bodywork can also be trimmed for racing to match the tremendous driving performance. To this end, NOVITEC went into the wind tunnel to develop naked-carbon components that give the two-seater even more spectacular looks and above all generate even more aerodynamic downforce.

For the front fascia, the designers sculpted a combination of NOVITEC spoiler and detachable side sections, which in concert with the center section made from that same composite material gives the SF90 an even more distinctive face. In addition, it also ensures even greater handling stability at high speeds. The carbon front flaps at the left and right precisely route the airstream past the front wheel arches. The front hood can also be given a racing-look upgrade with the two tailor-made carbon trim elements for the lower air outlet and the section in front of the windshield.

In addition, the front fenders can be replaced with special NOVITEC Race specimen. They are made entirely from carbon and thanks to their air outlets above the tires also improve venting of the air in the wheel wells heated by the brakes.

NOVITEC rocker panels are available to give the two-door car an even sportier appearance from the sides as well. Furthermore, the upper parts of the side mirrors and the triangles at the windows of the two doors can be upgraded with NOVITEC carbon elements.

The NOVITEC designers shaped special air deflectors for the intakes in the quarter panels, which route the airstream even more precisely into the engine bay. In order to also generate more downforce at the rear axle, NOVITEC designed a large ducktail rear wing made from carbon. The roof spoiler is made from the same material and routes the air purposefully to the rear spoiler. The rear fascia is fitted with a carbon diffuser

Further sporty and highly sophisticated NOVITEC features are carbon trim elements for the rear hood, the engine bay and the luggage compartment in the front end.

Of course, the tailor-made hi-tech forged wheels also have a decisive impact on the thrilling NOVITEC look for the Ferrari SF90 Stradale. NOVITEC was able to secure the services of renowned US manufacturer Vossen as development and production partner.

The vehicle pictured here is fitted with NOVITEC NF10 forged rims with five twin-spokes and stylized centerlock for full-blooded racing looks. The largest possible option is a combination of size 9.5Jx21 wheels at the front and size 12Jx21 rims on the rear axle. NOVITEC chose high-performance tires of sizes 255/30 ZR 21 and 325/25 ZR 21 as the optimal solution.

The extensive NOVITEC range for the SF90 Stradale also includes further exclusive rims with diameters of 20 and 21 inches.

The NOVITEC sport springs are available for lowering the ride height of the powerful hybrid sports car by 30 millimeters at the front and by 25 millimeters at the rear axle. They ensure even more spectacular looks and thanks to the lowered center of gravity also contribute to further optimized handling. A front lift system controlled from the cockpit is available as an option as well. It allows raising the front of the bodywork by about 40 millimeters for driving over obstacles. When this function is not active, the SF90 rides lower than with the production suspension.

NOVITEC also offers individuality in its purest form for the vehicle interior. The cockpit can be refined with leather and Alcantara in any desired color and upholstery design.

  • Maserati at the European Motor Show Brussels

Maserati-Benelux-shadowMaserati Benelux took part in the 90th European Motor Show in Brussels where it showcased a lineup of four luxury performance cars and girls dressed in Fendi. Fendi is a fashion line which is in partnership with Maserati for the two companies have a lot in common – quality, craftsmanship and elegance obviously. Some 15.000 VIP guests attended the event. That included artists, customers, business partners and government representatives. Maserati’s models didn’t seem to wear any clothes at all and had strange names such as: the  Quattroporte GT S, GranTurismo MC Stradale, the S Automatic and the GranCabrio Sport.

But we have heard them before, haven’t we? Yes, the all-sensible Quattroporte has four doors and the practicality of an IKEA bedroom and yet it somehow doesn’t emanate boredom and dreariness. In fact this Sport GT S version has a 4.7 V8 engine that delivers 440 hp and 490 Nm of torque which makes it as exciting as owning a bear. The exhaust system is also partially to blame for all that power. There are valves that control the back pressure within the system and in SPORT mode all the taps let loose with the final result being a beautiful symphony of thunder and power.

The GranTurismo S Automatic bares the same 4.7 V8 with virtually the same specs and yet, because it is lighter than the Quattroporte, it has a higher top speed and slightly better road manners. It also features an innovative self-adapting automatic transmission which can be set up to change gears even at 7200 RPM.

Then there is the hardcore, lightweight Maserati GranTurismo MC Stradale. It is the flagship performance car of Maserati for now and it is designed to meet the need of the most picky car enthusiasts. The Stradale benefits great handling and aerodynamics thanks to the company’s experience on the race track. Engine size remains the same (a 4.7 V8) but power is up by 10hp resulting in the blistering 450 bhp and 510Nm of torque. A 0 to 100 km/h sprint takes just 4.6 seconds and the top speed reaches the 300 km/h mark.

Last but not least, the GranCabrio Sport, designed for sunny days, makes an appearance. Power is from the same upgraded 4.7 V8 (450hp) Its specially tuned, yet based on the Quattroporte Sport GT S six-speed transmission includes a super-fast MC Auto Shift mode. The Skyhook active suspension has also been revamped for the greater handling performance. Other than the fact that it is a soft-top one can notice a change in the lines, the nose, the details – character laden profile with this GranCabrio Sport indeed.

Maserati ended a perfectly successful 2011 which saw an increase in sales by 10% or so. North America remains the biggest Maserati importer with 2465 units sold in the past 12 months while China is trailing behind as the world’s second largest Maserati admirer

  • Romeo Ferraris Cinquone Stradale

Romeo Ferraris has introduced a street legal version of Abarth 500 Cinquone Stradale race car.

The small vehicle has the same exterior as the race car, which includes an aerodynamics package consisting of new bonnet with two air scoops for engine cooling, new front bumper with a big central air intake, integrated wide body fenders and skirts and finally a new rear bumper with central exhaust tips.

The most staggering about the small car is the 1.4 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 300PS (220 kW), which is just 60PS (44 kW) less than the race car. The result is thanks to a new bigger turbocharger, sport exhaust system with metal catalytic converter and of course an ECU remap. The performance is brilliant, because of the brutal engine and the incredibly low weight – 1000kg (2205 lbs). There is no data about the acceleration, but the power-to-weight ratio is 3.33 kg/hp, so 0 to 100 km/h will be less than 5 seconds.

The interior boasts a complete roll bar as the rear seat is removed. There is also a lot of carbon fiber as well as carbon race seats with with OMP 4-point seatbelts.

  • Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale

Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini S.p.A., is presenting at the Volkswagen Group Night in Frankfurt the most extreme Gallardo ever: the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. Automobili Lamborghini is bringing motor racing excitement directly to the road. This new and most extreme top model in the Gallardo lineup is based on the successful race car from the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo, the world’s fastest singlemake series.

The car will be produced in a limited run of 150 numbered units.

The Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship brings professional racers and gentlemen drivers face-to-face in fiercely fought battles on Europe’s most challenging racetracks such as Monza, Silverstone and Hockenheim. There are many similarities between the racing and road versions of this super sports car. For example, they both share the same V10 powerplant, which is used in the racing version with no modifications.

An enormous and manually variable rear spoiler for increased dynamic load

Right from first glance, these similarities are even more evident in the new Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale. In fact, it is equipped with the same rear spoiler that offers greater aerodynamic load – reaching in the best aerodynamic condition 3 times the load of the Gallardo LP 560-4 – for increased dynamic stability during tight, high-speed driving. As in the race cars, the rear spoiler can be varied manually in order to let the driver optimize the car’s performance according to the track or road characteristics.

2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale
2012 Lamborghini Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale

Another element taken directly from the racing version is the removable engine hood with quick-release system. Both the spoiler and the hood are of course made of carbon composite material, as are a host of other components on the SuperTrofeo Stradale. Together with aluminum, carbon fiber is the basis behind the extremely lightweight construction of Gallardo’s new top model.

Lightweight construction through consistent use of carbon fiber

The Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale boasts a maximum dry weight of 1340 kilograms. It beats the already lean Gallardo LP 560-4 by 70 kilograms, which gives the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale a stunning power-toweight ratio of 2.35 kilograms per HP for breathtaking performance. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 3.4 seconds and reaches 200 km/h just 10.4 seconds later. Its forward thrust finally tops out at 320 Km/h.

“Rosso Mars” stands for Italy’s racing tradition

The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale sports a brand new “Rosso Mars” finish that underscores the special connection between ultimate race track performance and Lamborghini’s “Italianness”. The “Rosso Mars” color symbolizes Italy’s traditional racing red, as established at the beginning of last century in motor racing, when the home nations of the competitors were indicated by the color of the paint on the vehicles. Dark green stood for Great Britain, blue was for France, white (and silver later on) represented Germany, white and blu stripes for USA, and red was the color of all race cars from Italy.

Red, black and carbon fiber characterize the exterior

The exterior appearance of the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is perfectly accentuated by a matte black finish on the large rear spoiler, the engine hood and the front air intakes, which contrasts with the “Rosso Mars” paint. The forged wheels are painted in high-gloss black, a color that is also available on the roof as an option. The rocker panel covers, impressive rear diffuser and outside mirror housings are made of carbon fiber polished to a high gloss, while the brake calipers are accented in red for the first time on a Lamborghini. It’s a perfect match with the exterior color and racing concept of this new super sports car. And besides the historically suggestive “Rosso Mars”, the new Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is also available upon request in “Grigio Telesto” or “Bianco Monocerus” with the roof available in gloss black as an option, as mentioned above.

    Minimalist sporty interior

Black and red, the perfect combination of sporty minimalism, are the dominant shades inside the Super Trofeo Stradale. The most broadly used materials are Alcantara – in “Rosso Mars” on the underside of the dashboard, the central part of the seat cushion and the backrest – and extremely lightweight carbon fiber. Black Alcantara with contrasting red top-stitching is used to finish the other parts of the interior. The steering wheel is upholstered in black suede and also features red top-stitching. The door panels, the monocoque racing seats and the center console cover are made of carbon fiber, the construction of which

Lamborghini has achieved a world-leading expertise. Discreet sporty accents are provided by dark chrome visible metal parts.

Upon request, an interior layout including elements made of carbon fiber, such as the handbrake frame, the middle of the center console, the lower rim of the steering wheel, the decorative frames around the main and secondary instrument panels, the door handles, and the handle for opening the glove box (also available upon request), can be ordered.

    Phenomenal powerplant

Like the Super Trofeo competition version, the new Super Trofeo Stradale is based on the Gallardo Superleggera technical approach. The V10 powerplant generates 570 HP, equivalent to 419 kW, which is fully available at 8000 RPM. The maximum torque is equally impressive, with the torque curve peaking at 540 Nm at 6500 RPM. The V10’s unique firing order delivers the striking sound you hear in motor racing.

Transmission “race tested” in the Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo championship series

Like the race car, the Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale offers the robotized egear six-speed transmission controlled by steering wheel paddles as standard equipment. This electronically controlled system shifts through its six gears smoothly and much faster than any human being could. And for maximum acceleration from a standing start, the transmission can be set to the “Thrust Mode” – a program that allows to reach the best performance possible executing a racing start with minimal tire slippage at an initial engine speed of approximately 5000 rpm.

Permanent all-wheel drive for maximum traction in any situation

Every kilometer in the Gallardo LP 570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale is packed with sheer excitement, in part due to its unrelenting grip in virtually all situations thanks to all-wheel drive. At the end of the day, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo is the only single-brand racing series in the world that features all-wheel drive race cars. The Gallardo Super Trofeo Stradale is a highly concentrated driving machine offering a truly stunning driving experience with breathtaking cornering speeds and fast, immediate response. Its road manners are always precise, stable and completely safe.

    Suspension with unmatched precision

The layout of the suspension is directly derived from motor racing, with a double aluminum wishbone guiding the wheels. Precise rack-and-pinion

steering gives the driver a very close connection to the road. As is true for the Gallardo Superleggera, the vehicle is specially set up to take full advantage of its dynamic potential. No other model in the Gallardo line is as close to being a true race car. Another great feature is the ultra-lightweight 19-inch wheels, which alone save some 13 kilograms. The lightweight and sturdy wheel bearings and bolts are made from titanium and high performance Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires are fitted.

    Brakes with unmatched stopping power

Behind the massive wheels are brakes designed for unmatched stopping power, as controlled by the ESP stability control system, which is standard equipment. The front axle is equipped with aluminum calipers with eight pistons each, and the calipers on the rear axle have four pistons each. The ventilated discs on the front and rear measure 365 and 356 millimeters, respectively. Upon request, Lamborghini will install a carbon-ceramic brake system. The carbon-ceramic discs measure 380 mm for the front wheels and 356 mm for the rear wheels.

    Racing-type options

The optional equipment designed with racing in mind includes not only the carbon-fiber ceramic brake discs, but also a tubular interior roll cage, 4-point safety belts and fire extinguisher. On the other hand, those who want comfort can equip their Super Trofeo Stradale with a satellite navigation, with Bluetooth connection for mobile phones, an anti-theft system, and a lifting system that raises the front axle.
