The car carries the name C8 Preliator and will be unveiled in front of the U.S. public in New York at the auto show happening there within a week. This is an important step for the brand, because half of its customers are located in North America.

“Preliator” is a name which comes from Latin and stands for “fighter” or “warrior”. The sports car is paying tribute to company’s aviation heritage, since between 1914 and 1918 Spyker did produce “Fighters” (warplanes), and includes styling cues taken from jet propulsion aircraft, the turbine blade, NACA duct air inlets and little wings, ailerons. What is more, the name seems to perfectly describe the destiny of the brand and the battles it has conducted to stay “alive” over the years.

The third generation C8 Preliator is better than the second one because it features supercharger mounted to the Audi V8 engine, thus improving the performance of the vehicle. Furthermore, the two-door mid-engine sports car offers the rare combination of “heritage, design, craftsmanship, performance and exclusivity”.

A lot of attention to the detail has been paid to the exterior of the car as well as the comfortability and luxury of the cabin. The sleek aerodynamics of the vehicle, the long GT-wheelbase and spacious cabin promises that the C8 Preliator has a bright future.

  • Spyker Cars Announces Bankruptcy

It is over for Spyker Cars. It appears that the luxury company from Netherlands had filed for bankruptcy earlier this month. The cause for this was that the committed bridge funding did unfortunately not reach the company in time. The CEO of Spyker said that this is a result of today’s events. The company was founded 15 years ago, when Muller set out to establish a super sports car business from scratch with a global distribution. And in fact, he and his team had great success in achieving this.

He also said that he will make everything possible to resurrect Spyker as soon as practically possible and pursue the goal to merge with a high performance electric aircraft manufacturer for the development of revolutionary electric Spykers with disruptive sustainable technology.

Spyker N.V. is a Dutch based automobile company that produces high-end sports cars. It was founded in 1999 by Victor Muller and Maarten de Bruijn. Since 2000 the company has been creating exclusive sports cars like the B6 Venator Spyder Concept and the C8 Aileron Spyder.

In the years between 2002 and 2006, Spyker built the C8 Double 12 S. The car was offered with five performance stages ranging from 400 hp (294 kW) to 620 hp (456 kW). From 2002 till 2007, Spyker built the C8 Spyder T which featured a powerplant capable of 525 horsepower (386 kW) and 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.0 seconds.

Almost ten years ago, in 2005, Maarten de Bruijn left the company, while a year later the company built the C12 La Turbie with the 500 hp (367 kW) V12 engine. Spyker bought out the Midland F1 team in 2006 entering the motorsport world.

The year after that the company from Netherlands collaborated with the Italian Zagato. The result is the C12 Zagato offering fast speeds, great looks and the trademark roof bubbles. Some consider this the most successful of all Spyker models up to date.

The next seven year Spyker wrote history and released many exclusive cars, and it did that extremely well! We sincerely hope that this is not the end for the company, because we are sure that there is so much more to see from it!

  • Spyker B6 Venator [official render images]

Spyker B6 Venator Concept was introduced at last year’s Geneva Motor Show. The sports car was planned to go into production in the beginning of this year, but that didn’t happen. However, a report is saying that the B6 Venator will be launched in the spring of 2015.

The manufacturer has published two renderings, which look pretty much production ready. The final vehicle is really impressive and we don’t expect any significant changes at this point. Of course, there will be a different front bumper, modified side mirrors and a new ventilated front hood.

Nothing is mentioned about the performance and the powertrain, but previous report is saying that the B6 Venator will feature a V6 engine with around 375HP (276 kW), so the car will accelerate 0-100 km/h in around 4.0 seconds and the top speed is going to be close to 300 km/h (186 mph). The curb weight will be around 1,300 kg (2,870 lbs), which promises impressive time attack times.

A lot more powerful versions are also expected, because Spyker B6 can be a direct rival to the astonishing Lamborghini Huracan, which was recently announced and has a 5.2 liter V10 with 610HP (449 kW).

Stay tuned for more information and pictures of Spyker B6 Venator.

  • Geneva Motor Show: Spyker B6 Venator Concept

Spyker-B6-Venator-Concept-THUMBThe Dutch sports car maker Spyker is debuting its B6 Venator Concept at the Geneva Motor Show. After the model has been teased two weeks ago it now comes to show an exceptional attitude at the Auto Show.

Spyker B6 Venator Concept is a compact, 2-door mid-engine sports car which delivers a rare combination of heritage, design, performance and exclusivity. The concept makes a defiantly contemporary statement whilst paying homage to its past. It includes extremely detailed design, bespoke materials and aviation-inspired elements.

The name “Venator” comes from the ancient language Latin and it means literally “Hunter”. The name it carries undoubtedly conveys its high sports luxury presence and its bold beauty. But to go further into details and to reveal some of the highlights, the rear lights of this Concept are stunning 3D LED lights akin to the iris-type propelling nozzle of a jet engine from a modern fighter aircraft.

Secondly, the Radiator Grille, which is the trademark, references to Spyker models of the previous century. Here, the 1903 Spyker logo harkens back to an era when Spyker

built racers such as the amazing Spyker 60 HP.

Another exceptional element here is the aerodynamically shaped glass aircraft canopy which extends rearwards in order to minimize drag and to enhance performance. Next, the air intakes are aerodynamically sculpted and are integrated into the contemporary design of the car.

The new headlights are also instantly eye-catching because they are equipped with LED light rails, which add further to the aggressive stance of the model. What is more, the highly detailed design, bespoke materials and aviation-inspired elements are a core part Spyker’s DNA.

The brake light has been sculpted into the Spyker B6 Venator’s rear panel design to ensure smooth, flowing design lines. And the wheels – 19” Turbofan™ are in mirror polish finish. The contemporary profile and the overall design of the B6 pays homage to its past whilst making a defiantly contemporary statement with a lineage that can be traced back many years.
