  • Kia Sorento PHEV

    2021 Kia Sorento PHEV1

Following the arrival of the self-charging hybrid and diesel versions of the all-new Sorento earlier in the year, Kia Motors (UK) Limited is pleased to announce prices for the new Plug-in Hybrid variants of its flagship SUV. Available across the Sorento’s entire trio of trim levels, the grade ‘2’ kicks off at £44,995, while the flagship ‘4’ edition is priced at £53,095. Nestling in between is the generously specified ‘3’ variant, which has a price tag of £48,895. All three versions are available to pre-order now from Kia dealers, with the first examples set to reach showrooms early in the New Year.

The Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified drivetrain in the Sorento line-up and sits alongside the low-emissions Sorento Hybrid. The latest addition to the range blends a powerful 1.6-litre T-GDi Turbocharged Direct injection petrol engine with a high capacity battery pack and high output electric motor, allowing the driver to complete an average daily commute to work purely on all-electric, zero emissions power. And the low CO2 emissions of the all-new Sorento Plug-in Hybrid makes it attractive for business users, thanks to its super low company car Benefit-in-Kind taxation rates.

While many plug-in hybrid vehicles result in compromise, the fourth generation Sorento was designed from the beginning to accommodate electrified powertrains and deliver spacious accommodation for up to seven occupants. The larger body and all-new platform ensure that the latest iteration of the Sorento is one of the most spacious, practical and versatile electrified models on the market today.

With the addition of the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid to the Kia line-up, the company now offers four different plug-in hybrid products, across a variety of different segments. Ceed Sportswagon, XCeed, Niro and now the Sorento seven-seat SUV all offer the capability of zero-emissions driving, with the flexibility of a combined plug-in hybrid and petrol powertrain.

The most powerful model in the range is also the lowest emitting

The combination of a high-power output electric motor, high capacity lithium-ion polymer battery pack and a punchy 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine results in the most powerful Sorento SUV ever. Power is sent to all four wheels via a newly designed six-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox allows the full power of the engine and electric motor to be harnessed and transferred in parallel, with a minimal loss in energy. The result is highly responsive acceleration, and the lowest CO2 emissions of any model in the Sorento line-up.

The launch of the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid introduces a range of innovations throughout the powertrain that all combine to ensure that it is the most advanced, efficient PHEV to-date from Kia. An independent battery pack water-cooling system makes its debut for the first time in a plug-in hybrid and is designed to ensure optimal heat management and efficiency for the high-voltage battery pack. A new two-stage lamination process for the rotor on the electric motor aims to reduce noise and vibration levels, while the engine itself features Kia’s latest ‘Smartstream’ innovations, including Continuously Variable Valve Duration technology, which regulates the duration that the intake valves open and close, depending on the driving conditions. This innovation allows the powerplant to operate on different combustion cycles, seamlessly optimising both engine performance and fuel efficiency.

The full-size, seven-seat SUV will deliver an equivalent all-electric range (EAER) of up to 57 kilometres (WLTP*) from a single charge of its 13.8 kWh battery pack. In urban environments it is capable of travelling up to 70 kilometres on a single charge (EAER city) before its turbocharged petrol engine starts up. Drivers are therefore able to complete many journeys, such as their daily commute, on zero-emissions electric power alone.

Its plug-in hybrid powertrain also promises the lowest CO2 emissions ever offered by the Kia Sorento. With emissions of just 38 g/km (WLTP, weighted combined**), the new model is one of the most efficient vehicles in its class***.

UK homologated figures will be announced in due course.

Eye-catching design and room for seven in comfort

The fourth generation Sorento is the largest SUV in Kia’s European line-up and features an all-new platform with electrification at the forefront of the bold design. The car’s high-capacity 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack is located beneath the driver and front passenger seats. The battery pack is sandwiched between the cabin floor and the Sorento’s underfloor, meaning there is no compromise on space. The Sorento PHEV’s 67-litre fuel tank is located beneath the floor underneath the second row of seats, while the 3.3 kW on-board charger is situated beneath the cargo floor.

Like its self-charging hybrid and diesel stablemates, there’s generous space for seven occupants, as well as offering one of the largest cargo carrying capacities in its class. With all seven seats in use, there’s still 175 litres of space for weekend luggage or shopping, while this expands to an exceptional 809 litres with the rearmost seats folded down flat and the Sorento operating in five-seat mode.

The cabin of the all-new Sorento is arguably one of its biggest attributes, and this remains largely unchanged in Plug-in Hybrid guise. The 12.3-inch fully digital instrument cluster gets a makeover, however, with new graphics and dials to provide drivers with the powertrain’s status. This enables drivers to keep an eye on the battery’s charge status, as well as the flow of electricity and petrol power through the powertrain. From the ‘3’ grade up, the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system has additional functionality to enable drivers to more easily locate vehicle charging points while on the go.

    Three comprehensively equipped trim levels

All models in the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid line-up, including the phenomenally specified Sorento ‘2’, feature LED technology for the headlights and rear combination lights, as well as for the daytime running lights, front and rear fog lights and high mounted brake light. 19-inch alloy wheels and a temporary space saver spare wheel are standard equipment, with roof rails not only boosting the all-new Sorento visually, but also adding versatility if there’s ever a need to carry additional loads. A black front radiator grille is married to wheel arch body mouldings and side sills in the same colour, with all versions featuring front and rear skid plates in silver.

Black cloth upholstery is married with light grey headlining to deliver a smart two-tone appearance in the cabin, and the front seats and leather steering wheel are both heated. Seven seats are standard on all editions of the Sorento, including the PHEV, unlike some rivals, with 60:40 split, remote folding and reclining for the second row and a 50:50 split and fold arrangement for the rearmost chairs. USB charge ports are handily provided for all three rows, ensuring that occupants continue to be entertained while on the move, and don’t run out of juice. Dual-zone automatic air conditioning also includes outlets for seats six and seven.

Electrically folding, adjustable and heated door mirrors feature integrated LED indicator lights, and there’s an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, rain sensing front wipers and automatic headlight control.

In car entertainment is looked after thanks to DAB radio with a multi-device Bluetooth® connection and voice recognition and music streaming, Android AutoTM and Apple CarPlayTM smartphone integration. A reversing camera system with dynamic guidelines is integrated into the 8.0-inch touchscreen and includes front and rear parking sensors.

A suite of safety systems features on the all-new Sorento, with seven airbags that incorporates a front centre airbag, in addition to the usual driver and front passenger, twin curtain and pair of front side airbags. Forward Collision Avoidance Assist (FCA) incorporates city, pedestrian, cyclist and junction detection, the latter warning of an oncoming car from the other side of the road when turning at a junction and, if a

collision appears likely, applies the brakes to stop the car. The system relies on the front camera and radar and it is dependent upon the indicators being operated, as doing so allows the system to understand the driver’s intent to turn across the traffic.

Lane Follow Assist (LFA), Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA), Manual Speed Limit Assist (MSLA), Trailer Stability Assist (TSA) and Driver Attention Warning (DAW) all feature, along with Hill-start Assist Control (HAC), Downhill Brake Control (DAC) and an electronic parking brake (EPB) with Auto Hold functionality. Drive Mode Select allows the driver to tailor the driving experience more to their tastes, with a choice of ‘Smart’, ‘Eco’ and ‘Sport’ modes, while Terrain Mode Select incorporates three settings – ‘mud’, ‘snow’, and ‘sand’. Multi-Collision Brake Assist (MCBA) is a new innovation for all-new Sorento, as is Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go functionality and E-call, which automatically summons the emergency services in the event of an accident. An advanced anti-theft alarm system is provided with remote central door locking with fold-away key.

Move up to ‘3’ specification and the radiator grille gains a more striking glossy black appearance, and a satin chrome finish is applied to the exterior door handles. The LED headlights adopt bi-functionality and privacy glass is included as standard. Inside, the centre fascia adopts a premium etching finish that is both striking and classy. The upholstery is upgraded to black leather, there’s eight-way power adjustment to both of the front seats, and heaters are provided for the outer chairs on the second row. The cabin’s Mood Lighting system allows users to tailor the cabin even further, with the interior illuminated in one of seven pre-set ‘core’ colours, or from a wider range of 64 shades.

The Sorento ‘3’ also includes Kia’s innovative UVO Connect telematics system, connecting drivers by providing invaluable information via the in-car touchscreen and on their smartphone. Featuring Kia Live services and accessible through the uprated 10.25-inch LCD widescreen, the system displays live traffic information, weather forecasts, points of interest, and details of potential on- and off-street parking (including price, location and parking availability). UVO Connect also enables drivers to send route directions to their car before a journey and check the location of their vehicle at any time. A wireless smartphone charger also sits at the base of the centre console

An engine start/stop button with Smart Entry system adds to convenience, alongside a Smart power tailgate and Highway Driving Assist (HDA), a driving convenience and safety system that reduces driver burden on motorways and A-roads by controlling the vehicle’s steering, acceleration and deceleration functions to maintain the speed set by the driver, keeping a safe distance from the vehicle directly ahead, and positioning the car in the centre of its current lane. Comfort levels are further boosted by the fitment of self-levelling rear suspension.

At the pinnacle of the all-new Sorento range is grade ‘4’, and this flagship model features fine black Nappa leather upholstery with a contemporary black headlining and 10-way power adjustable driver’s seat with electric lumbar support and integrated memory system. There’s ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof with tilt and slide functionality and automatic electric roller blind. A head-up display projects driving information onto the base of the windscreen in the driver’s line of sight, with the system displaying alerts from the car’s numerous driver assistance technologies, details of vehicle speed, and turn-by-turn navigation instructions. A powerful 12-speaker BOSE® surround-sound audio system is also included on the top-of-the-range Sorento ‘4’, delivering a more immersive sound to all three rows.

Smart metal pedals deliver a dynamic ambience to the cabin and Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA) helps the driver avoid collisions on busy sections of the motorway. A 360-degree Around View Monitor is incorporated into the 10.25-inch touchscreen and works alongside the Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA) system. PCA works by preventing the vehicle from colliding with pedestrians or nearby obstacles when the driver parks the car or is reversing out of a parking spot. Using its rear-view camera and rear ultrasonic sensors, if it anticipates a collision, the system warns the driver with visual and audible alarms while engaging the vehicle’s brakes automatically to prevent the collision.

Production begins, with pre-order books open now

The Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid has started production this week at Kia’s Hwasung manufacturing facility in Korea. Like all Kia models, the Sorento PHEV is covered by Kia’s 7-year/100,000 mile warranty. The warranty also covers the car’s electric motor and battery pack.

  • New Sorento accessories to take on everything life throws at it

    KIA Sorento1

The All-New Kia Sorento was designed and engineered to take on everything life could throw at it, from rugged terrain driving to family travelling. Starting from £38,845 with an abundance of cutting-edge technology and interior luxuries as standard, the Sorento is already a solid, comfortable and capable family vehicle.

With more and more motorists taking to ‘staycationing’ in the UK, Kia provides all the accessories necessary for a successful getaway, further improving the comfort and usability of the flagship SUV.

Kia has introduced a brand-new electrically retracting tow bar for the Sorento. Deployed and retracted via a switch located in the boot, the fully-electric tow bar conveniently folds up and sits invisibly behind the lower bumper when not in use. This new feature keeps the sleek and refined exterior design of the Sorento whilst boosting its usability as a towing car. The diesel powered Sorento with a 2.2-litre CRDi ‘Smartstream’ engine boasts an impressive braked towing capability of up to 2,500kg, and this addition makes the Sorento one of the most competitive tow cars on the market. The electrically retracting tow bar costs £1,615, including fitting costs, VAT and the tow bar wiring kit.

Kia also offers a traditional, non-retractable tow bar for the Sorento that will fulfil the needs of any towing enthusiast, priced at £436.50 including fitting costs and VAT.

For active owners Kia offers the option of fitting a choice of two bike racks to the Sorento, offering space for one adult bike with prices starting from £90 including VAT and installation costs. Both bike racks feature a lock frame holder, smart wheel holders and adjustable quick-release straps making it a safe and convenient way to store and transport a bike.

For customers who prefer winter sports, Kia offers two Ski Carriers: the larger model being capable of securing six pairs of skis or four snowboards. The Ski Carriers start from a price of £130, and would be a game-changer for any snow sports enthusiasts.

To make life easier Kia recommends a folding boot organiser, ideal for quickly organising and securing any kind of supplies up to 30kg. With practical carrying straps and handholds for convenient transport outside of the vehicle and branded with the Kia logo, the boot organiser is both a smart and safe way to transport everyday items.

For customers who wish to use their Sorento to the maximum of its abilities and make use of the All-New ‘Terrain Mode’, Kia offers a range of accessories to aid exploration. Front and rear mud flaps are available to minimise mud flicking on to the vehicle, as well as a foldable boot liner, should any dirty equipment need to be placed in the boot of the car.

The Sorento is also offered with robust side steps, aiding access to the vehicle’s cabin. Bumper protection foils and front and rear bumper mouldings can be added to protect the bumpers and to lessen the chance of damage.

The combination of comfort and utility available on the Sorento really confirms it as a “go anywhere, do anything” vehicle.

  • Kia Sorento PHEV

    2021-KIA-Sorento-PHEV1

Kia Motors has today revealed the All-New Kia Sorento Plug-in Hybrid for the first time, and ultra-low emissions version of the brand’s flagship global SUV. The new variant combines supreme practicality with low running costs and high power and broadens the appeal for the D-segment SUV.

The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is the second electrified model in the all-new Sorento line-up and sits alongside the low-emissions Sorento Hybrid. The new variant combines a powerful turbocharged petrol engine with a high capacity battery pack and high output electric motor, giving drivers the ability to complete shorter drives on all-electric, zero-emissions power.

The Plug-in Hybrid variant achieves this while maximising space and versatility, with the innovative platform that underpins the fourth-generation Sorento designed from the outset to accommodate electrified powertrains. The new platform and large body ensures the Plug-in Hybrid model retains the generous cabin and luggage space and five- and seven-seat layouts that define other models in the line-up.

Pablo Martinez Masip, Director of Product Planning and Pricing at Kia Motors Europe, comments: “The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid completes the new fourth-generation Sorento line-up, and is one of two electrified models available to European drivers. It deploys a turbo hybrid powertrain to boost performance while reducing the car’s environmental impact and running costs. Plug-in models continue to grow in popularity across Europe, and the new Sorento will be one of the most spacious, practical, and versatile electrified models available.”

In the first half of 2020, electrified models – including mild-hybrid, hybrid, battery-electric, and plug-in hybrid vehicles – accounted for around one in four of all Kia vehicles sold in Europe*, with sales accelerating year-on-year.

Sales of the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid will commence in select European markets in early 2021, with Kia’s unique seven-year, 100,000 miles warranty as standard. UK on-sale date, pricing, and specification will be announced in due course.

    High-power, low emissions
The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid isn’t just the lowest-emitting model in the Sorento lineup in Europe, but also the most powerful. The beating heart of its ‘turbo hybrid’ powertrain is its 1.6-litre T-GDi (Turbocharged Gasoline Direct injection) engine, which, on its own, produces up to 180ps and 265Nm torque. The engine is paired with a high-capacity 13.8kWh lithium-ion polymer battery pack and a powerful electric motor which produces 66.9kW and 304Nm torque.

Combined, these powertrain components enable the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid’s powertrain to produce up to 265ps and 350Nm torque.

The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid’s all-electric range will be sufficient to enable drivers to complete most short drives on electric power alone. Its all-electric range and CO2 emissions are pending homologation and will be confirmed by Kia closer to the car’s on-sale date.

Power is sent to all four wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. The transmission allows the full power of the engine and motor to be transferred in parallel, with minimal loss of energy. The result is immediate acceleration response at any speed and direct access to available battery power at higher speeds.

A range of innovations throughout the powertrain also ensures the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid is the most advanced, efficient PHEV to-date from Kia. The new model represents Kia’s first use of an independent battery pack water-cooling system in a PHEV, ensuring optimal heat management and efficiency for the high-voltage battery pack. For the 66.9 kW electric motor, the rotor benefits from a new two-stage lamination process to reduce noise and vibration levels.

The engine features Kia’s latest ‘Smartstream’ innovations, including Continuously Variable Valve Duration technology, which regulates the duration that the intake valves open and closes depending on driving conditions. This enables the engine to operate on different combustion cycles, seamlessly optimising engine performance and fuel efficiency.

    Design and packaging
Kia’s new midsized SUV platform, introduced with the fourth-generation Sorento and underpinning the new Plug-in Hybrid model, plays a key role in accommodating the new powertrain. Its innovative structure and layout maximises space for passengers and luggage, with the battery pack located beneath the floor of the cabin.

As a result, the Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers generous space for up to five or seven passengers like its Hybrid and diesel counterparts. It also offers one of the largest cargo capacities in its class, with the larger battery pack not taking up significant amounts of boot space – up to 809 litres (for seven-seat models) or 898 litres (five-seat models) with two rows of seats in place. In seven-seat models, with all seven seats in place, boot space is 175 litres (compared to 179 litres for its Hybrid counterpart).

Visually, Sorento Plug-in Hybrid models retain the same modern exterior design as other variants in the line-up, with ‘eco plug-in’ badges and a charging port on the rear quarters standing out as the only points of differentiation.

Inside, the cabin also remains largely unchanged, although the 12.3-inch fully-digital instrument cluster is redesigned, with new graphics and dials to provide drivers with a clear picture of the powertrain’s status. It enables drivers to keep track of the battery’s state of charge, as well as the flow of electric and petrol power through the powertrain. The 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system also features new functionality to enable drivers to easily locate vehicle charging points on-the-go.

The same comprehensive range of ‘connected car’ and safety technology
The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers the same high level of technological innovation as other Sorento models. The touchscreen infotainment system enables full, seamless smartphone integration with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. A powerful 12-speaker BOSE® surround-sound audio system is also available, delivering a more immersive sound to all passengers, as well as a cabin Mood Lighting system, with up to 64 colors for users to choose from.

It also offers Kia’s innovative UVO Connect telematics system, connecting drivers by providing invaluable information via the in-car touchscreen and on their smartphone. Featuring Kia Live services, it provides drivers with live traffic information, weather forecasts, points of interest, and details of potential on- and off-street parking (including price, location, and parking availability) – in addition to nearby vehicle charging points. UVO Connect also enables drivers to send route directions to their car before a journey, and check the location of their vehicle at any time.

The Sorento Plug-in Hybrid offers a range of Kia’s Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) to help reduce many of the inherent hazards and stresses of driving. Available technologies include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) technology with a pedestrian, cyclist, and vehicle detection and FCA Junction, which detects vehicles at junctions when turning; Blind-Spot View Monitor (BVM); Surround View Monitor (SVM) and Blind-spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA); Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA); Smart Cruise Control with Stop&Go (SCC) and Navigation-based SCC (NSCC); Lane Following Assist (LFA); Driver Attention Warning (DAW); and Highway Driving Assist (HDA). It also offers a Rear View Monitor (RVM) with Reverse Parking Collision-Avoidance Assist (PCA) and Rear Cross-traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA). The Sorento’s Safe Exit Assist (SAE) feature also prevents rear doors from opening if the vehicle detects a hazard approaching from behinds, such as a cyclist or another vehicle.

The Sorento also implements Kia’s first Multi-Collision Brake system, which enables the Sorento to mitigate the severity of secondary collisions. It automatically applies vehicle brakes when the airbags have been deployed after an initial collision, further protecting occupants from secondary frontal or side impacts.

UK specification will be announced in due course.

Sales commence in 2021 with Kia’s seven-year, 100,000 miles warranty included
The All-New Sorento Plug-in Hybrid will be built for Europe and many other markets at Kia’s Hwasung manufacturing facility in Korea. European sales are due to commence in early 2021 in select markets. Every model sold in Europe will offer Kia’s unique seven-year, 100,000 miles warranty as standard, extending to cover the battery pack and motor. UK on-sale date, pricing, and specification will be announced in due course.

  • Kia Promises to Lauch Partially-Autonomous Vehicles By 2020

2015 Kia Soul EV	Kia plans to introduce a full range of partially-autonomous driving vehicles and technologies by 2020 and by 2030 they have planned to reveal their first fully-autonomous car to the mass market. At the momentary stage Kia develops the first of its Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) and numerous further-enhanced engines.

    Kia Advanced Driver Assistance System

The system will basically enable all the vehicles in which it is installed to operate autonomously. How? By incorporating different technologies, some of which are:

“Recognition” – this term explains the new sensors that will detect other vehicles and hazards, along with the ability to read the road signs. And of course, this all means that the vehicle will be capable to identify poor road conditions. How cool is that?

“Judgment” – There will be also advanced computing systems that will allow making of decisions about the information gathered via ADAS sensors.

“Control”- Active electronics and mechanical systems will allow the vehicle to make numerous decisions in every given situations. Even though it still sounds too futuristic and brave, we tend to believe that Kia team will make its best to make these system adequate caretakers.

    The partially-autonomous Kia vehicles

As said above, Kia plans to demonstrate the first almost-autonomous ADAS geared vehicles by 2020. But what about the details?

Along with the innovative ADAS technology, the independent cars will be geared with Highway Driving Assist, Lane Guidance System and Advanced Smart Cruise Control. HDA is made to maintain a safe distance from other cars, while it will keep the car in its lane. The system will also assist in cases of danger with the activation of numerous safety features.

Traffic Jam Assist, on the other hand, will help to make light work of heavy congestion by gathering information during highly congested traffic situations. The system will also employ wide range of sensors and will keep maintaining that safe distance from other vehicles within its line.

And in order to make the parking as easy as possible, Kia will also develop special technologies to enhance the low-speed maneuvers. This will be possible with the latest Smart Parking Assist System (SPAS) that can enable the vehicle to park itself in parallel or perpendicular spaces with minimal driver intervention. The brand will also offer the Remote Advanced Parking Assist System (RAPAS). It will allow Kia vehicles to park themselves when the driver presses the smart key button while within a certain range of the car. Sweet, right?

    2015 Kia Soul EV

In fact, all these technologies will also be offered on latest production models, including Sorento and the soon-to-be-launched Optima and Sportage. The advanced systems are also created with enhanced safety and comfort in mind, in order to enable appropriate reaction in cases of road accidents.

By 2030 Kia promises to bring us a fully independent lineup of cars.

The fully-autonomous Kia vehicles will come with special R&D resources on vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) and vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communication. And by enabling vehicles to effectively “communicate” with their surroundings, Kia automobiles will be able to make the ADAS technology even more effective and more efficient.

  • Kia Sorento and Pierce Brosnan: An Unexpectedly Good Combination [VIDEO]

Days ahead of the Super Bowl game, automotive companies keep flooding the internet space with their event-dedicated ads. The extended video for the all-new Kia Sorento is among the best ones that we have seen so far. The 60-second commercial, which will make its broadcast debut during the third quarter of Super Bowl XLIX, shows the vehicle in snow while simultaneously combining humor, action-like scenes and motion. We can see not just the attractive car while moving but also Pierce Brosnan who goes through a range of contrasting emotions as he listens to the explanations of one too excited Hollywood agent.

Completely redesigned, 2016 Kia Sorento is longer, wider, lower and more powerful. With its 290 horsepower and all-wheel drive, the car becomes “The Perfect Getaway Vehicle”. Having more aggressive styling, intricate surface detailing, and excellent off-road capabilities, the new Sorento inserts some exclusive dynamism into the automotive world.

Teaming up with the well-known actor Pierce Brosnan, the automaker tries to highlight the sophisticated personality and virtues of the refined Kia Sorento by creating “a getaway so unexpected that even Pierce himself did not see it coming.”

Brosnan shares that; “Along with the two leading teams, at one of America’s greatest sporting events, the Super Bowl commercials are the centrepiece of the day,” and then adds; “I’ve enjoyed being a part of the Kia team, which traditionally has one of the most memorable commercials in the game.

  • 2016 Kia Sorento to go Official in America

2016-Kia-Sorento-THUMB2016 Kia Sorento CUV is going to make its official North American debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The car has been redesigned and is larger than the previous generation model. In fact, it offers up to three rows of seating. But you can expect even more: it is packed with luxurious equipment. The CUV will be available in five trim levels: L, LX, EX, SX and SXL. This is the third gen of Kia’s best selling model and this means that it now features more mature appearance.

The new styling is now more aggressive and features intricate surface detailing. The car is longer, lower and wider, meaning that it has an extended wheelbase. The design of the mode incorporates fresh visual elements inspired by the Kia Cross GT concept. As an example: just take a look at the long bonnet and the distinctive treatment of the wide D-pillars from the previous generation.

The Sorento includes larger, more upright ‘tiger-nose’ grille as well as a three-dimensional diamond pattern, and long, swept-back headlamps. The lower roofline, higher beltline and more muscular, rounded shoulders at the rear give the car a dramatic appearance.

The SUC has grown also in size with 95 mm to 4.780 mm. In contrast, the height was reduced down to 1,685 mm, while the 80 mm longer wheelbase is now 2,780 mm and is what ensures the space for all three seat rows.

2016 Kia Sorento is expected to go on sale globally in the Spring of 2015.
