Smart ForTwo WeSC

Smart WeSC is completed thanks to the cooperation of the famous street fashion brand. The showcar will be exhibited at the IAA Frankfurt.

The small city car is finished in gold shades, partly matt, partly high-gloss, and all the colours have been created for the Swedish label by the car tuner BRABUS.

It is powered by a small turbocharged petrol engine with 102PS (75 kW). It also comes with full aerodynamics body kit and black alloy wheels.

The interior boasts leather upholstered seats and a sport steering wheel.

Smart took care of the design of the 32-ohm headphones from WeSC, giving a nod to the car’s look, as can be seen in the perforated black ear pads and high-gloss golden highlights. The headphones will be available from spring 2012 as well as the car itself.

Smart Forvision Concept

Smart Forvision concept is an interesting project accomplished with the help of BASF. The joint concept vehicle presented at the 2011 International Motor Show in Frankfurt combines a futuristic design with technologies relating to energy efficiency, lightweight design and temperature management.

The extremely lightweight design features sophisticated plastics used on the wheel of a volume car. The use of such materials enables a weight saving of more than 50% to be achieved compared with steel, or 30% compared with aluminium. Thanks to short hardening times the resin systems from BASF are also suitable for producing larger volumes.

The total of all technologies integrated in the concept vehicle make a perceptible contribution to increasing the range.

This is always at the centre of discussions relating to battery-electric driven vehicles. With maximum energy efficiency, intelligent temperature management and consistent lightweight construction it is possible to increase the range by up to 20 percent. An additional bonus for electric mobility of the future.

2012 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive vs. E-bike

2012 Smart ForTwo Electric Drive gives unique zero-emission driving pleasure. What is more, the small city car will soon be available worldwide and that’s not everything. The EV will come along with its new ebike. Great idea, in case you ran out of electricity, which happens very often with these vehicles.

The new ForTwo ED is powered by a 55kW (75PS) electric motor, which gives top speed of 120 km/h (75 mph) and 0 to 100 km/h in around 13 seconds. The Li-ion battery pack has a capacity of 17.6 kWh, which means a range of up to 140 km (87 miles) in the city. Still, we don’t believe that and you should get the bike, too.

“The smart fortwo has exceeded itself. It has always been a pioneer of urban mobility and with the new electric drive it is once again setting standards with even more driving fun and environmental compatibility,” said Dr. Annette Winkler, Head of smart.

“With the new generation the frequently cited “electric era” has finally arrived.”, she added.

2012 Smart ForTwo ED will make its official debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motorshow and will hit the market in the beginning of the next year. The interesting ebike will hit the market in 2012, too. Just in time to buy it with the electric Smart. As you may suggest, it is not an ordinary bike… it has a small 250 WATT electric motor mounted on the rear wheel with a 0.4 kW battery pack. So, if you can’t get to your destination with the electric Smart, you will eventually use electric bike and if this doesn’t work, too… Just go on foot!

The ebike is priced at €2 900.

Vilner Smart FotTwo Square Style

Smart ForTwo received another tuning package, but this time from the Bulgarian Custom studio Vilner. The small city car is completely transformed both inside and outside. The aim of the company is to create a vehicle, which attracts a lot of attention. Still, Vilner ForTwo will be used as a promotional car.

The name of the project is Square Style derived from the chequered motifs on the vehicle.

Vilner used orange foil with patterns of stitching for the exterior with full chrome panles and orange soft for the alloy wheels, mirrors and other details.

The interior boasts new two-tone leather upholstery, new trim for the dashboard, roof and door panels. ForTwo also received special floor mats.

The steering wheel is revised, too. It is specially designed to be more ergonomic, because the car is used mainly in the city.

With all these modifications, Vilner Smart ForTwo is a real eye-catcher, instead of a regular small city car. The idea for creating customised Smart is not unique, but the way Vilner did it is just brilliant.

Smart ForTwo Disco Ball

An interesting idea is to turn a car into a disco ball and not just any type of vehicle, but a Smart ForTwo electric drive.

The show car is completely covered in reflective glass tiles from the roof to the tires. It is used in the film titled Pixel City, which will be shown as part of an art installation at the Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin on March 26 and 27.

The whole idea came from the experimental band Apparatjik. The group members include well-known pop musicians Magne Furuholmen of a-ha, Guy Berryman of Coldplay, Jonas Bjerre of Mew and music producer Martin Terefe.

The art installation “Apparatjik Light Space Modular” features an interactive display which collects data to be turned into a song.

Smart Forspeed Concept

Smart will reveal ForSpeed Concept at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, which will start in the beginning of March. Smart ForSpeed Concept is an electric powered roadster designed by Steffen Kohl, who commented:

“Look at the fullness of the car’s exterior surfaces. This is important and will be reflected in future production models”.

ForSpeed is powered by 30kW (40PS) electric motor mounted in the rear. The range is more than satisfying – 135 km (84 miles). (more…)

Smart has unveiled the new ForTwo NightOrange special edition. The small city car is available as both – coupe or convertible. It is inspired by Halloween and boasts orange metallic paint, a black tridion safety cell, and black 15″ alloy wheels.

Romeo Ferraris Smart ForTwo

Romeo Ferraris tuned one of the smallest cars on the market – Smart ForTwo.

The body kit features modified bumpers, carbon fiber details and 17″ alloys fitted with Yokohama Parada tires. The interior boasts a full leather with Alcantara accents, and carbon fiber or wood trim.

There is also a performance package, which boosts the petrol engine with 23PS (17 kW) and the diesel received additional 21PS (15 kW). The results are thanks to a remapped ECU. (more…)
