  • World’s most important vehicle goes on sale! Details here!

1962 Shelby Cobra CSX 2000CSX 2000, considered to be the most important contemporary American car goes on sale, offered by Carroll Hall Shelby Trust. As any vehicle enthusiast will tell you, this is the car that revolutionized the whole automobile world, and as any collector will tell you, this is one of the most desirable vehicle among all collectables. So, what’s so special about it?

    1962 Shelby Cobra CSX 2000

CSX 2000 played not just one role in its early days. Of course, as a unique vehicle, it was not only tested on the track and in the laboratory, but it also was driven to numerous motor events, it was showcased in countless automobile events and after a neatly-created marketing strategy, Shelby team managed to convince audience that there were numerous  CSX 2000 units, but in reality, there was only one: the 1962 Cobra that stunned the world with a top speed of 153mph (275km/h) and acceleration rate, measured at 4.2 seconds for a run from 0 to 100km/h.

Also, even after Cobra’s production has ended, the CSX 2000 was never hid from audience, nor did it change its ownership. Of course, the vehicle had a life of a rock star (well, almost like a real one): it was featured in numerous books and magazines, it was constantly driven in events and road tests and it was even used by employees at the Carroll Shelby School of High Performance Driving. And back in 2012, on its 50th anniversary, it took central stage at country’s most prominent automobile events: Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance and the Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion. And since then it has been on display at the Shelby Heritage Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. It does resemble the lifestyle of a rocker, right?

Also, as part of the auction event, RM Sotheby’s Montery will also offer the 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra, the CSX 3178, on behalf of the Carroll Shelby Foundation. This is one more vehicle with a single ownership throughout its entire life and a special thing about it is the rare automatic gearbox system that was exclusively created for Carroll Shelby’s personal driving preferences. On display will also be a 1999 Shelby Series I Roadster, CSX 5064, finished in Centennial Silver with Candy Apple Blue stripes that has covered only 2,637 miles and Carroll Shelby’s personal 1986 Dodge Shelby GLHS Omni, GLHS 086 with mileage of 7,733 miles, both of which are offered from the Carroll Hall Shelby Trust.

  • Shelby Cobra Daytona Anniversary Edition with Premiere in August [VIDEO]

Shelby American 50th Anniversary Cobra Daytona Coupe SeriesShelby Cobra Daytona Coupe Series is going to be produced in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Shelby’s FIA World Championship. The limited edition series is a continuation of Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes. They will be produced in only 50 examples. To build them the experts will use either aluminum or fiberglass. Both will make an official world premiere in California this August.

    Looking Back to Historic Events

The Cobra Daytona Coupe was responsible for the victory in the FIA Sports Car Championship on July 4, 1965. This is when the small Shelby American team fielded six sleek Cobra Coupes against the Ferrari force. At the same time, this win was as joyous as it is sad now, because this is still the only single time that the team got the crown.

Back in 1965 there were only six Cobra Daytonas built. This also makes the vehicles one of the most wanted racecars globally. You can imagine how much each costs nowadays (probably millions of dollars), but most importantly, to own one is literally impossible.

    Reviving the Spirit

The chance of owning such historic vehicle is almost zero percent. But to own the new version is not that impossible, you just have to hurry up and be among the first who will have the chance to order one of the 50 specially badged anniversary Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes.

As a matter of fact, this is the first time that the company offers an aluminum continuation of the famous coupe. Each aluminum Daytona Coupe has safety and performance enhancements, but still keeps the original blueprints and measurements. There is a wide choice of exterior colors, but every single model will come with black leather interior, special badging, modern disc brakes and a stronger frame.

Pricing & Places You Can See the Shelby Cobra Daytona

The fiberglass and aluminum versions of the Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupe will be revealed at Gordon McCall’s Motorworks Revival on August 12. Then they will be on display at Rolex Motorsports Reunion inside Mazda Raceway at Laguna Seca.

An aluminum variant will be available for the sights of the visitors at Goodwood Revival in the United Kingdom as well.

How about the pricing? The aluminum Shelby Daytona Coupe without the drivetrain costs $349,995 USD, while the fiberglass variant is priced at $179,995 USD (without the drivetrain). Shelby American is currently taking orders.

  • Shelby Celebrates 50th Anniversary Of 289 FIA Cobra

50th-Anniversary-Shelby-289-FIA-Cobra-THUMB289 FIA Shelby Cobras are an example of the most important cars in American racing history. They debuted in 1964 and competed in 1964 World Manufacturers Championship series. Back then the FIA Cobras were piloted by racing legends including Ken Miles, Dan Gurney, Phil Hill and Bob Bondurant, and logically put the car into the winner’s circle.

The reason for the success of the vehicle can be also attributed to its robust and powerful engine, combined with a lightweight chassis. Now, the model marks 50th anniversary and to celebrate this, Shelby is releasing 50 limited editions (CSX7000) Shelby 289 FIA Cobras.

Each of the cars is painted in “Viking Blue” finish and features the iconic FIA stripes and roundels. In terms of interior the vehicles are fitted with black FIA interior. Other special features in the Anniversary cars include billet anniversary badges, original style wheels, a new dash, widened front and rear fenders, cut-back doors, new dampers, racing wheels featuring the pin-drive hub, oil cooler scoops and a competition 289 V8 small block engine.

Shelby has also translated the beauty of the 1964 model in contemporary language by using modern disc brakes, a stronger frame and the bodies in either aluminum or fiberglass. The Anniversary Edition also includes a special fitted car cover and optional detachable steering wheel.

50th Anniversary FIA Shelby Cobra made an official first appearance last Friday at the annual Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale. Each car has a starting price of $94,995 USD.
