  • A Trendy Seat Mii Mango Special Edition

Seat-Mii-Mango-Special-Edition-shadowSeat-Mii-Mango-Special-Edition-mediumWhat do you get when you take a Spanish fashion house and a Spanish car make (that’s actually supervised by a German company) and put mash them together. Why, the Glam Beige Seat Mii by Mango special edition of course. It’s the one car that will make its début on a fashion show rather than on a car show. That is to say, the 080 Barcelona Fashion event (27-31 January).

On the outside, the Mii special edition distinguishes itself with a special set of dark grey 15 inch alloy wheels, grey electric door mirrors and “Mii by Mango” badges at the back and on the B-pillar.

The interior is where most of the designer side of it really shines. Leathered steering wheel and gear stick, Alcantara upholstery on all seats with a beige trim and, again, “Mii by Mango” embossing. The door sills too read the same. The mirror on the driver sun visor and the glove box handbag hanger clearly hint that Seat are targeting a very specific group of people (women) with the Mii by Mango. Is that sexist?

The Mango Mii will be available in either 3 or 5-door versions and will be equipped similiarly to the Style trim line. That means ESC, ABS, front and lateral airbags for the front seats, head-thorax airbags, air conditioning, CD/MP3 audio system, hill hold control, central locking, power windows and more as standard.

  • Seat Mii Ecofuel Shows Perfect Efficiency In Geneva

Seat-Mii-Ecofuel-THUMBSeat Mii Ecofuel adds to the Mii family being company’s lowest-emitting production model ever. This Seat model runs on compressed natural gas (CNG) and this means that it bringing excellent efficiency and running costs without sacrificing the outstanding performance.

In fact the Seat Mii Ecofuel is the first Seat model to include CNG engine and in addition it will make a debut at the Geneva Motor Show. To go further into details, the Mii Ecofuel has an average consumption of just 2.9 kg CNG/100 km.

Under the hood, the model hides a 1.0-litre 68 hp (51 kW) unit based on the three-cylinder petrol engine known from Mii (with 60 hp and 75 hp outputs), but it has been developed for CNG operation. Its CO2 figure of just 79 g/km is best-in-class. The engine is lightweight and high-revving and has a maximum torque of 90 Nm (67 lb-ft) at 3,000 rpm.

The ECU here also handles the management of the gas injector valves and the electronic gas pressure regulator. In addition, the engine control unit utilizes a lambda sensor to recognize the different qualities of ‘low gas’ and ‘high gas’. When running on low gas, which has a lower calorific value due to its lower methane content, injection timing is adapted to suit.

Furthermore, although this unit has being specifically engineered to run on CNG, the Mii Ecofuel engine can also run on unleaded petrol. With a full CNG tank (11 kg), the Mii Ecofuel has a range of up to 240 miles; the reserve petrol tank extends the range by up to 140 miles. The result is that with a full tank the engine has a total range of up to 380 miles.

Of course, there is a special fuel level indicator on the instrument panel, which gives information about the level in both the gas and the petrol tank. The ranges available in both operating modes are also shown in the multi-function display.

The exceptional low fuel consumption and emissions figures of the car are achieved through standard fit fuel-saving Ecomotive Technology, including a Start/Stop system and a Brake Energy Recovery system. The kerb weight of the model – 956 kg, the good aerodynamic characteristics and an efficiently matched engine/transmission combination also contribute to those exceptional figures.

Eventually, the Mii Ecofuel will be introduced in Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the Czech Republic, and will have an entry price of €12 050.

  • Seat Mii And Ibiza Offered in Toca Editions

Seat-Mii-Toca-THUMBSeat Mii Toca and Seat Ibiza Toca Editions are now being introduced to the market delivering more desirable equipment and special features. In Spanish “Toca” means “touch” and as you can conclude this name gives a fairly obvious clue to the bonuses included in those two new models.

In particular, Toca Editions come with the very useful Seat Portable System (including a touch-screen), which was firstly introduced to the Seat range with the Mii city car. First of all, the Mii Toca is based on the 1.0 60 PS SE version, but adds the Seat Portable System and rear parking sensors.

Secondly, by committing to the Ibiza Toca (which is based on the SE version), the drivers will get a set of 16-inch “Stratos” alloy wheel. These were previously 15-inch. In addition, the Seat Portable System is also featured.

Both Ibiza and Mii are loaded with equipment which features the following: air conditioning, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, heated and electrically adjustable door mirrors, electric front windows, electronic stability control (ESC), remote central locking. The only difference that the Ibiza adds is that it includes front fog lights with cornering function.

Furthermore, the aforementioned Seat Portable System includes satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone connectivity with audio streaming, a MicroSD card slot for music storage, and trip computer functions, all controlled via a fool-proof interface on a five-inch touchscreen.

  • Seat Mii Miinx Adds More Colour to the Urban Life

SEAT-Mii-Miinx-THUMBSeat Mii Miinx in bright pink color is definitely a car that draws the attention. It seems like the designers have created something opposite to the Mii Vibora Negra, which was unveiled by the brand in July.

To create “something different” was the goal of the engineers. The working process began with choosing the Mii Sport in Deep Black metallic for a basis. Then the body of this Seat was covered in a pink gloss vinyl wrap, while the lights were tinted with a translucent film, resulting in a more pronounced, contrasting look.

But the wrap isn’t the whole car. Miinx is a standard three-door Mii Sport, which draws its power from a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder engine with 75 hp (55 kW). The vehicle is equipped with wide range of standard equipment, which features 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, leather steering wheel and gear knob, dark tinted rear windows, front fog lights, and sports suspension.

No doubt that it will catch the attention of the soft sex. Seat Mii Miinx is priced at £11 500 and is already available in dealerships.

  • 2013 Seat Mii Auto with Automated Manual Gearbox

2013 Seat Mii Auto is the latest addition to the current Mii line-up. It not only offers generous space and versatility, but now is even more economical thank to the new automated manual gearbox it has.

In fact, the sequential transmission is extremely economical. Speaking in numbers, the result is that this Seat is 2.7 mpg more fuel efficient on average than the Mii Sport. The latter has the same 1.0-litre 75PS engine with a manual gearbox. In addition the CO2 emissions were also lowered.

To go even further into details, the Mii Auto, boasts average fuel consumption of 62.8mpg and a 105g/km CO2 rating, in comparison to the manual equivalent’s 60.1mpg and 108g/km. Based on the manual five speed gearbox, the automated version does away with a manually operated clutch, instead using an electric motor linked to a pair of electromechanical actuators in order to handle gear changes.

But what is the overall result? It is a gearbox with the operation of a traditional automatic transmission, but with light weight and compactness. However, this new gearbox is offered only with the 75PS (55 kW) engine and in SE trim. In terms of performance, the new Mii model sprints from 0 to 100 km/h for only 13.9 seconds. The top speed is 106 mph.

There are three gearbox settings the person behind the wheel can choose from: neutral (N), drive (D) and reverse (R). Here there aren’t included the “park” setting and “crawl” function. If the vehicle is switched off, while in drive mode, the first gear is automatically engaged. The driver has the option to manually select gears using the lever.

Moreover, being a SE specification, this car is equipped with 14-inch “Silva” alloy wheels, a leather steering wheel and gear knob, a gloss white dashboard panel, chrome dial and switch surrounds, and heated electric door mirrors, air conditioning, electric front windows, electronic stability control, remote central locking and six-speaker stereo.

2013 Seat Mii Auto is being offered in both three- and five-door body styles. Its starting price is £10 390.

  • Seat Exeo Ecomotive

Seat-Exeo-Ecomotive-thumbSeat welcomes to the family the Exeo Ecomotive – a bundle of clean and economical technologies wrapped up in a car’s body. It’s basically parallels Volkswagen’s Bluemotion line. And it won’t be just the Seat Exeo that gets it. All the current models will be available with that extra dose of sensibility.

The Exeo however is the perfect example of how a green family car should behave. The Ecomotive uses a 2.0-liter TDI engine and a six-speed manual gearbox. It’s power comes in two stages – 120 PS and 143 PS and between them, there seems to be no difference in emissions and consumption: 117 g/km of CO2 and 62.8 mpg. If that turns out to be true, why bother going for the 120 PS one?

The tech that saves you money is not new or ground braking. There’s a start/stop unit somewhere along the lines, an energy recovery system and a set of low-resistance Goodyear tires. For the sake of aerodynamics, the Ecomotive is also lower than usual.

    Seat Exeo Ecomotive
    Seat Exeo Ecomotive

Don’t feel that you’d be in short of common equipment as well. The 120 PS Exeo Ecomotive S (which is the basic model) gets 16-inch Morfeo alloy wheels, dual-zone climate control, cruise control, voice-activated Bluetooth and a multimedia steering wheel. All of that for no more than 20, 040 British pounds or 31,488 dollars. The next step is the SE and Sport versions which add clever windscreen wipers, clever headlights parking sensors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, sports seats, bi-xenon lights, LED daytime running lights and LED taillights, tinted rear windows and dashboard inserts (those last 6 ones come with the Sport models). On the options list, one can further laden their SE or Sport trim with a Tech pack that throws in a satellite navigation and a BOSE stereo.

On a side note, if one is not a family man but rather a teenager or a college graduate, Seat can offer a Seat Mii Ecomotive. Essentially a 1.0-liter, three cylinder petrol engine that does 68.9 mpg and 96 g/km of CO2 which gets much of the extras and technologies that are similar to the ones in the Exeo – air conditioning, electric windows, electronic stability control and split folding rear seats.

  • Skoda Citigo – 5 stars from Euro NCAP

The highest possible ratings in the class of city cars go for the new Citigo from ŠKODA. This automobile is with five Euro NCAP stars and was eagerly anticipated. And the effect is that the ŠKODA Citigo has received the highest number of points in its class, in tests by independent crash-test experts at Euro NCAP. Firstly Euro NCAP assessors affirmed that the overall safety packages, including its passenger, infant and pedestrian protection are exceptional. Without a doubt, ŠKODA counts on the affordable and yet uncompromising safety.

Furthermore praises for the Citigo go for the levels of passenger protection it offers. For example Euro NCAP’s assessment involves front and side collisions plus a pole test.

This car is all about safety: Next go the admirations for the infant safety. Here ŠKODA again has achieved excellent results. And to be more precise – the car received full marks in tests simulating the protection of a three-year-old child.

Moreover Euro NCAP testers praised the inclusion of head-thorax airbags as standard equipment across the Citigo range, and belt-fastening reminders on all seats.

Last but not least is to be mentioned that the ŠKODA Citigo is the first car in the city car segment (together with the Volkswagen up! and SEAT Mii) that has a low-speed, active emergency braking assistant (which was called City Safe Drive). This innovative technology helps during urban driving and operates automatically at speeds lower than 30km/h (18mph).  Depending on speed and level of traffic, the system can mitigate the affects of a crash or prevent it altogether.

More details of the ŠKODA Citigo’s crash-test result are available on the Euro NCAP website at www.euroncap.com.
