SR Auto Scion iQ - Front Angle

SR Auto has presented their tuned version of the Scion iQ. The re-badged Toyota iQ has received some nice styling modifications.

The exterior boasts a complete body kit provided by Five Axis including a new front lip spoiler, a pair of modified side skirts and a new diffuser. There is also a tail-gate lip spoiler, a set of lowering springs and 18” Sparco Assetto Gara alloy wheels fitted with proper low-profile tires.

Nothing is mentioned about performance modifications, so SR Auto Scion iQ will be powered by a normal 1.3 liter four-cylinder petrol with 95HP (70 kW) and 121Nm (89 lb-ft) of torque.

  • SR Auto Project Pryzm Scion iQ

SR-Auto-Pryzm-iQ-thumbWe have talked about this before – it’s a Scion iQ, custom made by SR Auto. This one however is a bit different, more complete, a finished product in fact. The project is called “Pryzm” and rightfully so. Being so boxy, the only thing that stands between it and a prism is that the latter does not roll on 17-inch Sparko wheels.

The ride is lower and a Premier 4509 kit decorates the exterior. That means that the front and rear bumpers, side skirts, front fenders, the hood, and the roof spoiler are all new. (in Scion terms that is pretty much the whole body)

It would seem however, that more effort has been made for the innterior. Although stock, the seats have had their foam trimmed in a way so that they now have an elevated side bolster. The upholstery boasts a red diamond stitched pattern over black suede. The rest is black leather with again red stitching. Even the door panels bare the a similar design.

There’s no word on any performance tweaks so one should expect the standard 1.3 liter petrol that kicks in 95 hp and 123 Nm of torque. The Pryzm iQ has already made its debut at the Open Road Scion even last week – it’s a sort of a Scion fans and owners convention that offers a forum on talks about new, old and tuned models of various kinds of Scions.

  • SR Scion IQ Project

SRauto-Scion-IQ-thumbInterestingly enough, another custom company has undertaken a Toyota IQ project. Well, when we say Toyota we actually mean a Scion. And, yes, last week was an Aston Martin but this is all just badge talk. So today we have the SR autogroup made IQ – sporty, aggressive and with big wheels.

For a body kit, SR have chosen Fiveaxis components. They account for the front lip, side skirts, rear lip, and the roof spoiler. But a body kit does not look complete if it isn’t almost grinding on the ground. So that is why we also have a set of Tein lowering springs which, according to SR, do not in any way compromise performance and ride comfort.

An overall custom look is achieved only when we add four matte black 17-inch Sparco wheels held by titanium red lug bolts. We are not sure why they have to be titanium but they look great as a contrasting agent. Does it work for you?

  • Scion iQ at the 2011 SEMA Show – Tatsu, Evasive, Sibal

Several tuned iQ small city cars will be exhibited at the 2011 SEMA Show, next week in Las Vegas. Three iQ have been created for the show’s Tuner Challenge, with a fourth custom special displaying a radical chop-top look. They are joined at SEMA by further American-market models that have been given ultimate makeovers, plus some of Toyota’s latest State-side racing machinery.

Michael Chang, Jon Sibal and Tatsu are the famous tuners who have worked their magic on iQ. Chang has produced the iQ-RS, giving the car the full motorsport treatment: key elements include a carbon fibre body kit, Air Runner suspension, Sparco race seats and Advan Racing wheels.

Sibal Scion iQ RX comes with a complete body kit including front and rear bumpers and side skirts. The car is finished in a subtle matte metallic grey and bronze pearl paint finish. The engine is slightly modified by adding a Nitrous Express injection kit. The car stands on 18” three-piece forged HRE rims. Again, Air Runner suspension sits the car close to the ground.

Tatsu Scion iQ MR is even more brutal. It comes with RWD and customized bodywork featuring new panels from Speciality Cars and 16” Sakura wheels from Axis are fitted.

Pit Boss Cartel iQ is a racing pits support vehicle. Cartel has removed the roof, reduced the size of the doors and fitted tough metal interior panels and carbon fibre seats and trims.

More radical still, this iQ can be controlled by iPad and serves as a mobile WiFi hotspot and power charging station.

The SEMA show opens at the Las Vegas Convention Center on 1 November.
