  • Audi RS6 Avant performance

More powerful and faster than any RS 6 and RS 7 to date: new Audi RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance are bursting with extras that sharpen the models’ appearance and make for a more emotive driving experience. The potent 4.0-liter V8 biturbo TFSI engine now has an engine power of 463 kW (630 PS) and a maximum torque of 850 Nm. From December 8, the RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance are available for 135,000 euros each.

At Audi, ‘performance’ means more power. For example, larger turbochargers and an increase in boost pressure from 2.4 to 2.6 bar in the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo TFSI engine that both the RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 Sportback performance boast, allow an increase of 30 PS in engine power and 50 Nm more torque compared to the base versions. This means a total increase in power from 441 kW (600 PS) to 463 kW (630 PS) and in maximum torque from 800 to 850 Nm. The performance models sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.4 seconds, 0.2 seconds faster than the RS 6 / RS 7 base versions.

Yet less is sometimes more: reduced insulation between the engine compartment, the interior, and the rear of the vehicle ensures the RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance will thrill customers with an exciting, next-level sound experience – the reduction also makes the car eight kilograms lighter. The RS 6 Avant performance has a total unladen weight of 2,090 kg whilst the RS 7 Sportback performance weighs 2,065 kg.

For heightened driving dynamics: new self-locking center differential

Power from the 4.0 TFSI engine flows through a standard eight-speed tiptronic with faster shifting times to the permanent all-wheel drive quattro. The strictly mechanical center differential distributes engine power to the rear axle at ratio of 40:60 and if slippage occurs, more drive torque is automatically applied to the axle with better traction – up to 70 percent can flow to the front axle and up to 85 percent to the rear axle. The self-locking center differential is lighter and more compact, improving driving dynamics plus offering noticeably more precise cornering which makes for less understeering at the handling limits. As an added improvement, the self-steering response is more exact with passengers benefitting from a more agile driving experience overall.

Exclusive and high-performance: 22-inch wheels with high-performance tires

The new RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 Sportback performance roll off the line on standard 21-inch aluminum cast wheels in a ten-spoke star design and 273/35 tires. For an even sportier appearance, 22-inch lightweight wheels are also available, alongside the standard 22-inch aluminum cast wheels – in burnished glossy metallic black, matte gray, matte black, or matte neodymium gold. Inspired by motorsport, the airy 5-Y spoke design aids brake cooling and the lighter rims are manufactured in a high-tech forging-milling process. The new lightweight wheel is around five kilograms lighter than the 22-inch aluminum wheel on the current RS 6 Avant or RS 7 Sportback – this 20-kilogram weight reduction in unsprung masses improves the throttle response.

New high-performance Continental “Sport Contact 7” 285/30 tires, which are part of the new lightweight wheel, play a key role in reducing weight. The tires offer consistently better grip on both dry and wet roads and reduce understeering when cornering at speed, making for overall more precise handling across the entire speed range. Additionally, the brake path is up to two meters shorter with the new wheels when braking from 100 to 0 km/h.

The Audi drive select dynamic handling system lets the driver control the vehicle’s character. Six profiles are available: efficiency, comfort, auto, dynamic, as well as two customizable RS-specific RS1 and RS2 modes.

But experience of the driving modes in the performance models is much more unique. For example, the coasting mode now only activates automatically in the efficiency profile, which means in speed ranges up to 160 km/h, it switches off the combustion engine and coasts with no fuel consumption or drag torque from the engine. Additionally, fine-tuning to the engine control unit software makes for tighter load changes in S mode when the “dynamic” drive select mode or driving mode S is active, further increasing the emotionality. The updated software in the transmission control unit makes for faster shifting times and a noticeably increased spread between the various driving modes.

    RS Dynamic Package as standard

The RS Dynamic Package is standard equipment in the RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 performance models. This includes the increase in maximum speed to 280 km/h (180 mph), dynamic all-wheel steering (the RS-specific software update helps the driver with active steering corrections on the front and rear axles), and the quattro sport differential on the rear axle.

The RS Dynamics Package plus is also available as an option, which in addition to the RS Dynamics Package, raises the top speed to 305 km/h and includes an RS ceramic brake system. Customers can order the calipers in gray, red, or blue and discs measure 440 mm (front) and 370 mm (rear). The RS ceramic brake system weights a total of approx. 34 kg less than its steel counterpart for a reduction of the unsprung masses.

Fresh exterior colors and optics packages

The new RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 Sportback performance are available in a total of 16 exterior colors – for the first time, metallic and matte Ascari Blue and matte Dew Silver are included. The performance models stand out with standard RS exterior components in matte gray, including the exterior mirrors, the front spoiler, the front side flaps, the side sill inserts, the roof rails, and the trim on the side windows and rear diffuser. A matte carbon/black optics package is also an option, in which the roof rails and trim on the side windows are black. The Audi rings and model name is available in the customer’s choice of chrome or black.

Out of the blue: new interior accents and features

In the interior, the familiar RS design packages in gray and red have been expanded to include the color blue. The steering wheel rim in Alcantra black features contrasting stitching in Mercato blue, whilst the floor mats, the side of the center console, and the selector lever cuff also come with blue contrasting stitching. The seat belts are full-surface ocean blue with the decorative inlays in a carbon twill structure with optional blue accents. The selector lever knob and the side of the center console are made with Dinamica microfiber, which consists of around 45% recycled PET fibers and the sports seats feature high-quality Valcona leather upholstery perforated with honeycomb stitching with contrasting stitching in Mercato blue. Another distinguishing feature is an entrance LED in the front doors that projects the lettering “RS performance” onto the ground next to the car.

Customers can order RS design packages in the three available color variants with optional additional features: decorative inlays, door armrests and center armrest in Dinamica microfiber. An added benefit of this equipment variant is the seat center panel with a gray, red, or blue inlay, whilst the customer’s chosen color shows through the perforated sports seats and the seat backs feature RS embossing in matching colors.

Customers can use the new “Audi Exclusive Customizer” visualization tool to design their vehicles in thousands of individual combinations and thus create their own personal special edition. They can choose from a wide range of individual paint finishes as well as leather and stitching colors; the tool uses a 3D model to visualize the customization process. Check out the configurator here.

The displays of the standard 12.3-inch Audi virtual cockpit plus offer new features including a blinking shift indicator in manual transmission mode which changes the rpm display from green to yellow to red, blinking in a manner identical to that used in motorsport, to indicate the optimal time to change gears. Plus, Launch Control, which fully exploits the acceleration potential of the RS 6 Avant performance and the RS 7 Sportback performance by signaling the ideal moment to accelerate off the line, with new traffic light icons.

Performance by tradition: from the RS 6 Avant plus to today

The RS 6 Avant performance and RS 7 Sportback performance in the C8 generation continue Audi’s long-standing sport strategy of plus and performance models. It all began with the RS 6 Avant plus in the C5 generation, shortly before the series was discontinued in 2004, quattro GmbH (now Audi Sport GmbH) launched a special limited series of 999 units with a subtle upgrade in power. The engine power climbed by 30 PS to 480 PS and the model bore the distinction of being the first Audi to officially go faster than 250 km/h. Audi Sport throttled the RS 6 plus to 280 km/h, making it the fastest sport wagon. Without the engine control unit, it reached a top speed of more than 300 km/h.

The plus variant in the C6 generation hit the market in 2008 and was limited to 500 units. Unlike its predecessor, it did not feature any additional power; the V10 kept its 580 PS. But Audi limited the top speed of the special Avant and Sedan to 303 km/h; the only faster vehicle at the time was the R8.

In the C7 generation, “plus” became “performance” – the Audi RS 6 Avant and RS 7 Sportback performance rolled off the line in 2016, with a slightly tweaked engine, the power rose to 605 PS, 45 PS more than in the base model. The overboost function increased briefly to 750 Nm in “dynamic” driving mode and depending on equipment, the speed was limited at 250, 280 or 305 km/h.

  • Audi RS6 C8 „@TenTension“ by Wheelsandmore

    2020 Wheelsandmore Audi RS6 C8 TenTension - Front Angle

    Stage 1:
Using classic software optimization, the Audi tuner generates 710hp and 920Nm torque from the original (441kW) 600hp and 800nm of torque.
The price for the upgrade is about family-friendly 2,100 EURO With the ecu upgrade the v-max lock will be removed with all optimizations!

    Stage 2:
In addition to the matching engine control, the luxury tuner installs a flap-controlled exhaust system from Capristo, which replaces the front and middle silencers for flow-optimized and acoustically relevant reasons. This upgrade results in an engine output of 725hp and a maximum of 930nm torque.
Price for stage 2 including assembly: 7,688 EURO

    Stage 3:
Due to the lack of TUV approval, the exhaust system is no longer used and the tuner replaces the air duct and filter housing together with filters for optimized versions and implements modified intake manifolds. This upgrade to 786hp and 1060nm is available from Wheelsandmore with the appropriate blessing from the regulatory authorities at a price of EUR 12,521

    Stage 4:
All components from stage 3 are supplemented by revised turbochargers. The series turbos receive larger turbine shafts, as well as a correspondingly modified compressor unit, reinforced axial bearings and larger-sized inputs.
Also this upgrade to crazy 965hp and 1250! nm enjoys the blessing of the TUV through appropriate acceptance and is offered at a price of just 33,529 euros.

    Stage 5:
Out of any TUV standard Wheelsandmore offers the final Stage 5. Everything that disturbs power from the modern EURO 6-d Temp emission and eats performance is replaced by empty pipes beginning the downpipes from the turbochargers. Catalysts, gasoline particulate filters and all silencers other than the rear silencers fall victim to the upgrade. The result is a magical 1010 hp upgrade with electronically limited torque at 1250nm.
Upgrade price: 41,932 EURO including assembly

Audi has now also realized that the sporty driver is more and more concerned with individual options without regard to comfort and already offers a neat 22-inch gear train from the factory. Due to the correspondingly low offsets, however, the manufacturer does not invite customers or tuners to purchase alternative rims that match the accessories. Since most customers with an interest in a modified wheel / tire combination are always concerned with the maximum possible widening, in this case wider rims or wheels with almost neutral offsets are required.

Compared to some other tuners Wheelsandmore has taken a while to construct the perfectly fitting wheels and presents 3 different models including a new monoblock design.
The well-known designs 6Sporz² and F.I.W.E. are expanded by the new design “Atom”. All 3 rim models are either available on both axles with 295/30/22 Continental tires or when using the wider 11.5J rims on the rear with 285/30/22 and 335/25/22 tires. The price for a complete wheel set with TPMS sensors starts at 6,300 EURO.
All rim designs can be individually finished in any color and can also be front polished using an in-house CNC machine to implement an elegant bi-color effect.

As with the predecessor C7, suspension manufacturer KW also has various options for optimizing and lowering the suspension in its range for the current RS6. In addition to a Variant 4 coilover kit for 4,369 Euros, Wheelsandmore also offers adjustable lowering springs at a price of 755 Euros.

  • Prior-Design is killing it with the Audi RS6/A6 Avant PD600R project

Prior-Design Audi A6/RS6 Avant PD600R front and side viewPrior-Design has just released a stunning tuning kit for the Audi A6 Avant and the RS6. It definitely contributes for bettering (if that is even possible) car’s stance. What is more, the tuning company also offers an exciting power-modification for these models. PD Performance Tuning

    Prior-Design Audi A6/RS6 Avant PD600R partial view

In terms of performance enhancement, there are things that could be done too. The standard 3.0 TDI engine under the hood of the A6 Avant, produces no more than 313 HP (230 kW) and 650 Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque. After the customization by the specialists at Prior-Design, these numbers have jumped with 98 HP and 157 Nm, resulting in a total of 411 HP (302 KW) and 807 Nm (596 lb-ft) of torque.

When it comes to the more powerful Audi RS6 with standard 560 HP (412 kW) and 700 Nm (517 lb-ft) of torque, it gained an addition of 110 HP (81 kW) and 130 Nm. The result is impressive: 670 Hp (493 kW) and 830 Nm (613 lb-ft) of torque.

At last, but not least we have to mention that the Audis depicted in the gallery below run on 21-inch Vossen VPS-310 wheels.

  • Can this ABT Audi S6 Beat the RS6 with its 550 HP?

ABT Audi S6 Front and Side ViewThe day begins very nice, not only because of the NSX information, but also because the specialists at ABT Sportsline just sent us a couple of photos and details on their latest project. This time they have worked on an Audi S6, thus giving it super-strengths and some minimal styling tweaks.

The best thing about this tuning is the added “New Generation” performance package, which puts the S6 very near to the RS6. As a result, this car produces 550 hp (404 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb0ft), instead of 450 hp (331 kW) and 550 Nm (406 lb-ft). The maximum speed was also raised to 290 km/h. Nice, isn’t it? The good news here is that if you have an S7 you can get the same power package.

Hundred additional horses also mean that the car needs new rubbers in 21-inches of size which were of course mated with super cool wheels. The other styling features are the new fender inserts, exposed carbon mirror caps and carbon-made rear spoiler.

SEE ALSO: ABT Releases 400HP Volkswagen Golf R

Moreover, there is an electronic ABT Level Control for the air suspension. It will perfectly position the wheels in their arches, while the lowered CoG will also help the S6 corner much better.

Although there aren’t any pictures of the interior, we believe ABT specialists when they say that it now includes entrance lights with their own start-stop button, floor and trunk mats with tuner’s logo and LED shifting lights in the steering wheel.

Well, does it sound plausible now that the Audi S6 can beat the RS6?

  • Jon Olsson is ready for Gumball 3000 with a fierce Audi RS6

Jon Olsson and his Audi RS6 DTM-Jon Olsson is obviously more than ready for the strongly awaited Gumball 3000, since he has officially unveiled a DTM inspired Audi RS6, that was specifically made for the rally. He will drive this car for Team Betsafe in the aforementioned event, which begins on 23rd of May in Stockholm and ends in Vegas.

Olsson says that he always dreamt to build a similar DTM-inspired car which has enough space to carry all ski gear to the slopes. To make everything possible, he teamed up with the ex-Koenigsegg chief engineer, Leif Tufvesson, who is currently working for Caresto.

First thing to mention here is the changed output. Here is where Stertman Motorsport stepped in, delivering STM Stage 3+ kit with super custom 18 karat gold anodized TTE9XX turbo chargers. The result is that horses are jumping between 950 and 1000.

Next, the new power is supported with Intrax Black Titan suspension and the biggest Movit brake, while at the same time there is this huge super mega race exhaust kit from Milltek Sport. The ski box atop was made by 56Nord and it actually looks like a piece of art instead of just another plastic box on the roof.

At last, the final design that Olsson made got to be applied onto the car and this happen via special foil wrap implemented by Wrapzone. This project is making us really impatient for the Gumball. How about you?

  • Vilner’s Audi RS6 is Capable of 700 Horsepower!

It was the end of 2012 when we showed you a one-off project on Audi RS6 that made history and everyone was talking about for a long, long time. The tuner of course was Vilner and with company’s current take on RS6, it is aiming to change history once again. This Audi has just received attentive therapy not only in terms of interior modifications, but also in terms of what is standing under the hood.

Inside, the car is defined by predominantly white, blue and black colors. In details, the ceiling is wrapped in black nubbuck and the same goes for the rearview mirror. Black is also to be found on all of the plastic details, which have also been covered with rubber-like material.

The white seats are also contrasted perfectly with the seat belts in racing blue color that corresponds to the exterior paint scheme. Enough for the interior!

More importantly, it is almost unbelievable what “sleeps” under the hood of this RS6. The V10 unit, which originally produces 560 horsepower (412 kW) and 700 Nm (516 lb-ft) of torque, got some “attention” from RaceChip Germany.

In particular, the company has delivered a powerbox that increases the overall power output of the car from the aforementioned 560 hp to 700 hp (515 kW) and from the standard torque to 889 Nm (654 lb-ft).

  • Audi Launches 2014 RS6 Avant Plus?

2014 Audi RS6 Avant was unveiled back in December 2012. The standard engine of the car is downsized twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 TFSI which produces a peak output of 560 hp (412 kW) between 5,700 and 6,700 rpm, and a constant 700 Nm (517 lb-ft) of torque between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. With this unit the car needs only 3.9 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h. We have just understood from our colleagues at GTSpirit that Audi is planning to introduce to the market more powerful version of the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant.

According to them, a dealer based in the UK has leaked the official details about the updated model. The uprated RS6 Avant Plus will be powered by the same engine, however it will be boosted to deliver up to 600 hp (441 kW), which means a 40 hp.

Next to the engine modifications, the car will also get improvements in terms of agility and handling. Probably this will be achieved via weight-savings. Another exciting fact that has also leaked is that the new RS6 Avant Plus will be a full production model.

Of course, some cosmetic treatments are also expected to happen. For instance: badging and interior enhancements. Given that the information on the 2014 RS6 Avant Plus has already leaked, we think that the official details from Audi will be disclosed shortly.

  • Audi RS6 AS by HPerformance

HPerformance Audi RS6 AS is a car we must review. First of all, because it includes all of the benefits of the emblematic RS6; and secondly, because it has some enhancement features which makes it unique. Oh, we forgot to mention that its powertrain got also improved and now delivers even more power. All in all, the tuners at HPerformance, who are actually based in Germany, did great work.

In particular, this third generation Audi RS6 got transformed firstly in terms of weight. Its overall mass was reduced with around 200 lb. This of course contributes towards improved fuel consumption and enhanced acceleration capabilities.

Next, the tuners added HPerformance 70 mm double pipe exhaust system which includes two controllable exhaust valves. This exhaust can be operated pneumatically via an overpressure or via electric ways using MMI. The end effect is the great sound that comes out of the pipes.

Speaking about performance, the RS6 has under its hood an enhanced version of the standard 4.0 liters V8 biturbo 4×4 engine. After the boost via control device programming, the unit delivers 700 hp (515 kW) and 860 Nm (632 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to an eight speed automatic transmission. At last, this Audi has been equipped with a prototype of a carbon suction system.

  • Jon Olsson Reveals His Audi RS6 Avant

Jon-Olsson-Audi-RS6-Avant-THUMBThe professional freeskier and alpine ski racer Jon Olsson has just revealed his new car. And he states in his blog that this is the best vehicle he has driven so far. We are not surprised since it is the 2014 Audi RS6 Avant that was introduced to the general public more than a year ago.

In fact, this Audi model has shown some incredible figures. To be more precise, the car needs only 3.9 seconds to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h, thanks to its brand new ultra-efficient downsized twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 TFSI powertrain.

Again, the unit is responsible for the 560 hp (412 kW), which is reached between 5,700 and 6,700 rpm, and the 700 Nm (517 lb-ft) of torque available between 1,750 and 5,500 rpm. At the same time this small unit returns 28.8 mpg. The engine is coupled with an eight-speed tiptronic transmission that features shortened shift times and offering ‘Sport’ and ‘Manual’ modes next to the standard ‘Drive’ setting.

2014 Audi RS6 Avant is in fact vehicle for the winter of the Swedish professional freeskier. In fact, the car is currently rolling around Europe, so if you see it, then you should now it’s him. And we assure you that there is no chance of making a mistake, because this Audi has stunning exterior design which is wrapped in white, black and gray camouflage.

What has been done additionally on this RS6, is due to the work of Stertman Motorsport that has featured Milltek exhaust and dumped suspension by H&R. More elements were probably included at a later time, but they haven’t been announced.

The top speed of the production model is 155mph, but we are not sure whether Jon has increased it via the optional Dynamic package or Dynamic plus package to 174 mph and 189 mph, respectively.
