“There is definitely no shortage of power from the Q50 Eau Rouge. All in all it was an interesting day and we had fun. It was a privilege to be given the task of driving the Q50 Eau Rouge on one of the most demanding corners in the world.”, he added.

  • 2014 Infiniti Q50 Adds Two-Litre Turbocharged Petrol Engine

2014 Infiniti Q50 made a debut at North American International Auto Show at the beginning of the year, showing to the visitors its full potential, beauty and luxury styling. The car features evolutionary design and features an aggressive front bumper, enlarged grille as well as distinctive headlights. The aerodynamics has been also enhanced and this means that the car returns enough mpg to make the customers happy. Engine range includes an upgraded 3.7-liter V6, a hybridized 3.7-liter V6 and turbocharged petrol units. Now, Infiniti is announcing that the Q50 2-litre petrol is available in its official dealerships.

The lightweight 1991cc turbocharged petrol 4-cylinder engine produces 211 horsepower (155 kW) and 350Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. The power is transmitted through a seven-speed automatic transmission to the rear wheels. A wide torque band curve that begins at just 1250rpm assists the flexible and efficient driving.

In fact, the 2.0-litre direct injection petrol engine has been manufactured with the latest fuel efficient certified technology. It was also refined by Infiniti engineers and the result is that it delivers engaging throttle response.

The new engine joins the 2.2-litre direct injection turbo-diesel unit and the high-performance V6-configuration hybrid powertrains. Infiniti also disclosed that it plans over the next five years to increase its model range by 60 per cent and to double the number of its powertrains.

Infiniti Q50 petrol is scheduled to make its sales debut in Europe in autumn before rolling out to the rest of Infiniti’s global markets by year end.

  • Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge at 2014 Goodwood

The extremely powerful Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge will make its first dynamic public appearance this year at the 2014 Goodwood Festival of Speed, which is taking place from 27th to 29th June. The special model is the most powerful Infiniti ever, but is not confirmed for production, yet.

The Q50 Eau Rouge Prototype is powered by a V6 twin-turbocharged engine with 568HP (418 kW). It will be driven by Christian Horner, Infiniti Red Bull Racing Team Principal and Sebastian Buemi, Infiniti Red Bull Racing’s Test & Reserve Driver.

Sebastian Buemi will also be available on the Infiniti hospitality stand for a question and answer session regarding the Formula One season so far and what we can expect going forward.

Originally, the Q50 Eau Rouge was a static design concept revealed at the 2014 Detroit Motor Show. After that, it came to Geneva with a mighty engine installed below the hood. In April, during the Beijing motor show, Infiniti announced it has reached a further step forward towards a production version with a full working prototype now undergoing tests and evaluation.

  • The Distinguished Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Design Concept

Infiniti-Q50-Eau-Rouge-Concept-Detroit-2014-shadowInfiniti-Q50-Eau-Rouge-Concept-Detroit-2014-mediumNAIAS attendees have the benefit of a full view of the fancy named Infiniti Q50 Eau Rouge Concept*. It’s a design concept so it’s all about the looks and drama.

It’s only 20 millimetres wider and a bit lower than your average Q50, yet Infiniti are adamant that the only elements retained from the original are the front doors and the roof pillars. In other words, every other body panel has been replaced. Just to be sure that the Eau Rouge really does stand out from the commons, Infinity have went for a customized red coating and dark-chrome framing. The latter applies to the double-arch front grille, the glasshouse surrounds, the door handles and the deck lid accents.

Inside, there’s a “high-grip” steering wheel flanked by two paddle-shifters. The red accent makes its way into the interior as carbon fiber inserts on the doors, and the center console, while, again, dark-chrome replaces all that which used to be silver-chrome.

If they were ever to build the Rouge, Infiniti envision a forced induction 500+ bhp power plant nestled in the engine bay:

“Through our various alliance partners we have access to a range of engines featuring this performance capability which, with a fair amount of engineering effort, can be developed to exhibit Infiniti character…” comments Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti Motor Company Limited.

There’s also a projected torque value of 600 lb-ft. That’s quite a lot, could the real-life Eau Rouge end up baring a diesel heart?

*Eau Rouge is actually the name of a very specific corner at the Belgian Spa-Francorchamps race circuit.
