  • Vilner Finally Releases New Project Based on Morgan Plus 8 Anniversary Edition

Vilner Morgan Plus 8 Front ViewThe last time we have heard about Vilner was almost five months ago. Right ahead of Christmas the tuning studio has released Porsche 911 cabrio-based project that has also drawn a lot of attention. Luckily the talented specialists have been working on many projects and have been very busy. One proof for that is their newest project, involving a Morgan Plus 8 roadster. How cool is that! But let me continue.

    History Behind this Car

There is nothing but great work involved here. As usual. This Morgan Plus 8 is a very special edition, because it is one of the jut 35 ever released. It is actually an anniversary edition which was released to commemorate model’s 35th birthday. As a Morgan car, it is also hand made.

Even more special about this car is that its owner has purchased it, wanting a special cockpit treatment. However, he wasn’t lucky, because Morgan said that the options are limited and he should be content with the original gray-white leather and no interior detailing at all. And this is when he obviously contacted Vilner.

    Interior

The tuner set a goal to give the Plus 8 the deserved attention to the detail and cabin treatment in accordance to the traditional spirit of the 35th Anniversary edition. For this purpose, the craftsmen chose vintage brown leather with diamond stitching. The latter varies in terms of color in different places. For instance, the seats and headrests received a silver leather fiber, repeating the color of the aluminum panels.

Other details, like the door mechanisms, have been wrapped in black Alcantara, while the thumbs – in brown skin. In addition, the belt buckles have also received leather treatment. Other interesting detailing involves special screws with polished metal heads, which corresponds to the beautiful aluminum wood-enhanced steering Moto-Lita wheel.

    Exterior

There are no exterior modifications involved in this project. So, it basically features the standard silver paint scheme, applied over the hand-bended aluminum panels. The alloys are multi-spoke and the overall style of the car is a pure expression of the British tradition.

    Drivetrain

No changes have been applied to the engine as well. This means that the 2003 Morgan Plus 8 35th Anniversary roadster is powered by the 3998 cubic V8 engine, which produces no less than 190 hp (140 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) of torque and which is mated to a five-speed manual transmission that drives the rear-wheels.

  • Morgan Lineup at Geneva 2012

Morgan-Stand-Geneva-thumbMorgan company is a frequent participant at the Geneva Motor Show. They see it as an important venue for debuts of production cars or flamboyant concepts. For this year, the 2012 Geneva Show is the company’s first major event. They have a wide arrangement of classic looking, boldly designed modern machines on display. Some of the newcomers include the Aero Coupe, Plus 8, the new 3.7l Roadster and the fully electric Plus E.

Two, well known, production Morgan 3 Wheelers and a 75th anniversary 4/4 edition are also present. As a whole Morgan have three main platforms on which they can work on: There’s the Classic Morgan, the 3 Wheeler and the Aero range. All of them encapsulate a radiance of pure motoring history.

Which car on the colorful stand causes most stir is debatable. Some feel overly excited about the 3 Wheelers being on display while others find the aluminum-chassied, V8 Plus 8, most awe inspiring. The dramatic Aero Coupe is also a looker while the all-electric Plus E concept seems to be getting much media attention.

The show continues until the 18th march with a team of Morgan designers, directors, engineers and salespeople present at all times to answer any questions visitors may have.

  • Morgan Plus 8 4.8 litre

Morgan Plus 8 THUMBThe new Morgan Plus 8 4.8 litre is all about class, style and uniqueness. It makes use of technology from the aircraft industry in order to achieve weight of only 1100kgs. If this doesn’t speak to you anything, well it means that the Plus 8 model is the lightest V8 passenger car in the world, which is approved to European safety standards. In addition, the car also has one of the stiffest chassis of all the convertible roadsters available today. To go further, there are also added wheel speed sensors in the Electronic Control Unit, thus getting the best possible performance from the engine and providing a crisp throttle response. In addition, very surprisingly is that the new Morgan Plus 8 is very economical to drive. This model is undeniably the most comfortable classic Morgan that the brand has ever designed. For instance, the convertible mohair roof is easy to erect with a double thickness liner for insulation. Moreover, there is plenty of space for the tallest of drivers. The air conditioning is featured as standard equipment in the leather lined cockpit which also includes a lockable stowage compartment. Of course, a radio/CD player with a high quality speaker system comes also as standard equipment.

Furthermore, the Morgan Plus 8 is the only Classic Morgan on which is mounted six speed automatic transmission. It can be used in two modes: “Sport” and “Auto”. To be more precise, the ‘Sport’ mode the engine holds its gear to maximum revs of 6500rpm and blips the throttle before making a down shift. Adding further to the comfort of the ride, the designer have made power assisted steering and ABS brakes. And if one still doesn’t find this Morgan to be original enough, there is the possibility of further personalization of the vehicle according to their individual taste.
