Nearly a quarter of UK drivers are planning to take part in ‘Dry January’ this year* and, in a  normal January, the same motorists could also avoid costly fuel stops, without making any changes to their daily routine, simply by switching to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV). A study of 2,000 drivers found the average motorist covers 14.98 miles a day*, well within the 40-mile†, all-electric range of the new PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID4 300.

While households taking part in ‘Dry January’ are estimated to save up to £68**, PEUGEOT’s research shows drivers using the new 3008 HYBRID4 300 range could save an additional £48 in fuel costs across a typical January***, for total savings of £116.

Despite the restrictions of the global pandemic in 2020, the study found drivers still spent an average of £17 a week on fuel. Using the electric motor fitted to PEUGEOT’s plug-in hybrid electric vehicles, the cost in electricity to cover the same mileage comes in at under £5 using a home charger – saving £48 across the month***.

The new PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID is available with a choice of two efficient PHEV powertrains, including the powerful 300hp e-EAT8 with two electric motors enabling four-wheel drive capability, or the 225hp e-EAT8, with one electric motor driving the front-wheels. Both feature a 13.2kWh battery. The HYBRID 225 version has an electric range up to 39 miles from a single charge, with overall CO2 from 31 g/km, while the HYBRID4 300 version has an electric range up to 40 miles, thus also benefitting from a 4% reduction in BIK in 2020/21, 2021/22 and 2022/23, with CO2 from 29g/km.

On average, respondents said they take more than three trips a month that exceed 40 miles. Thanks to the combined petrol-electric powertrain fitted to the latest generation of PEUGEOT HYBRID models, which are capable of up 235mpg****, these trips could be completed efficiently, without stopping to recharge.

Julie David, Managing Director of PEUGEOT UK, said: “Dry January is a popular way to start the year with one-in-four motorists taking part. Whilst we aren’t experiencing a usual January, our research shows that drivers could easily extend Dry January to their vehicles by switching to a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle. The all-electric range of the latest PEUGEOT HYBRIDs is big enough for the average British motorist to complete their daily driving in zero-emission, all-electric mode. Factor in the reduced running costs and they’re a compelling alternative for cost-conscious buyers.”

The PEUGEOT HYBRID range includes the PEUGEOT 508 HYBRID 225 and 508 SW HYBRID 225 models alongside the new PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID 225 and new PEUGEOT 3008 HYBRID4 300. All vehicles are available to buy in store with PEUGEOT Retailers and via PEUGEOT Buy Online, where customers can configure and order their vehicle all from the comfort of their own home.

PEUGEOT Buy Online is simple and convenient, allowing customers to configure their vehicle, obtain a part exchange valuation, personalise their finance and complete their purchase, all from the comfort of their own home.

  • PEUGEOT 3008 GT: was this an actual required addition to the lineup?

2016 PEUGEOT 3008 PEUGEOT team unveils the most dynamic version of the recently showcased 3008 SUV: the GT. Looking tight and confident, the GT bad boy aims to deliver pleasure of driving, comfort and of course, some enhanced sporty spirit. An honestly, with the 2.0-liter BlueHD power unit and EAT6 transmission, there’s a chance for us to love this vehicle.

In terms of exterior appearance, this one shows some clean and modern lines, that further refine the characteristics of a SUV. The elegant profile incorporates some neat stainless steel components, while the proportions give it some lower and more dynamic expression. And all this is topped with exclusive 18-inch matt Haria alloys.

The rear also contributes to that muscular stance with the GT badging, double chrome exhaust pipes and the overall elegant and sporty stance.

Honestly, we do like the exterior styling of the 2008 GT. If it didn’t come with these sort of ugly front headlights and overall funny-looking face, but hey, who cares? It is a sporty version of a sport utility  vehicle. Maybe that was PEUGEOT’s idea. A sporty, sporty car. Nice.

Of course, the 3008 GT comes with the latest PEUGEOT i-Cockpit feature along with its elegant dashboard.  There is a large 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 8.0-inch capacitive touch screen. Long story short, as any other contemporary vehicle, this one is also fraught with tons of technology gadgets. The question which one is useful and which one is not remains.

Apart from the gadgets, the cockpit offers fine Aikinite copper double-topstitching on the dashboard, door trims and central armrest. This mellow color scheme is continued on the virtual dials and can be seen everywhere in the cabin.

  • Peugeot 508 HYbrid4 RXH and Saloon

Peugeot-508-RXH-HYbrid4-thumbTo have Peugeot‘s latest hybrid modular technology it takes a 2.0-litre HDi engine and a 37 bhp electric motor put on a single frame. The diesel engine deals with the front axle while the electric motor operates the rear. Such a setup was fist used in the 3008 HYbrid4. Now the Peugeot 508 RXH and 508 Saloon also join the company’s hybrid fleet by succumbing to the HYbrid4 badge.

By adding such frugal technology to otherwise resourceful saloons and all-roaders (such as the RXH and Saloon), Peugeot hope to optimize the driving performance and economy and increase the model’s versatility. Lower taxation is expected too.

Both of these AWD cars will carry the same HYbrid4 gear thus delivering identical figures of power – 163 bhp from the 2.0 HDi unit plus 37 bhp from the motor at the back. That’s 200 bhp in overall power. Their combined drive cycle economy is a charm, yet the RHX is the thirstier from the two with 68.9 mpg – the Saloon can go for almost 10 more miles on a gallon. Also the Saloon has a sub-hundred figure on CO2 emissions standing at 95 g/km. The RHX manages 107 g/km. The top speed for both is around 130 mph and zero to sixty takes 9.0 seconds (9.5 for the heavier RHX).

In terms of equipment, the Saloon HYbrid4 is pretty similar to the 508 Allure – Keyless entry, an ignition button, cruise control with a speed limiter, automatic parking brake with Hill Assist, automatic dual-zone air conditioning, electric folding door mirrors, Peugeot Connect Navigation (RT6) with Bluetooth, Peugeot Connect SOS and Assistance, automatic headlamps and wipers, 18” alloy wheels and half leather seats are all included. All of that for $49,788.

The Saloon however, is trumped by the $53,343 RXH which has an even vaster array of luxuries. On it, you will find 18” Attila alloy wheels, parking aid, a panoramic glass roof, an additional Colour Head Up display, an USB point and acoustic laminated side windows. It also has a higher stance that gives it an overall crossover look.

Both models are available for ordering while shipping will start in May for the RXH and in July for the Saloon.
