  • MINI Makes One-off Paceman Adventure

MINI-Paceman-Adventure-THUMBMINI Paceman Adventure is a concept project that resulted from the joint work of the young apprentices and their instructors at the BMWs plant in Munich. This Paceman has completely one-off vision. As a basis the students have used the current MINI Cooper S Paceman. They have transformed it into a two-seater with a pickup style cargo area. This MINI pick-up features all necessary off-road characteristicis, including a powerful engine, all-wheel drive, big tyres, modified suspension and much more.

To go further into details, this Paceman Adventure is powered by the Cooper S Paceman’s engine which produces 184 horsepower (135 kW). In addition, it is equipped with MINI’s ALL4. The passenger compartment features only two front seats. Behind them is positioned the cargo area that is suitable for luggage, tools and equipment begins. A solid roof rack can accommodate a spare wheel.

Furthermore, the pickup has the typically MINI short overhangs, but includes a modified chassis with extended ground clearance and higher front and rear clearance ramps. This MINI concept also features a snorkel-like roof level air intake, thus meaning that it could tackle a river crossing.

On the front cross member of the roof rack are mounted additional lights. The car has been fitted with off-road tyres, which prepare the concept for the perfect off-road experience. At last, the exterior paint finish is Jungle Green metallic. Unfortunately, MINI has no plans for a production version of the Paceman Adventure.

  • 2013 Life Ball: MINI Paceman by Roberto Cavalli

2013-MINI-Paceman-by-Roberto-Cavalli-THUMBOne of the biggest charity events has just happened this weekend and as we are familiar MINI brand is a big part of its history. The partnership began in 2001 and since then 13 one-of-a-kind MINI models have been designed and produced.

They were of course all auctioned with proceeds of more than half a million Euros flowing into projects dedicated to the battle against AIDS. This year, the designer under the lights was Roberto Cavalli who created a unique and classy MINI Paceman.

The Italian designer transformed the newest model in the brand family in his highly distinctive style. It is all adorned by gold elements inside and out, iridescent paintwork that shimmers from black to brown depending on the angle of light and the use of his hallmark animal prints.

In other words, this Paceman is a true work of art and few hours before its premiere, it was auctioned for a record price of 150,000 euros. Besides Roberto Cavalli, a whole line-up of iconic designers rendered their own MINI for this good cause. Among them are Dean and Dan Caten of DSQUARED, Renzo Rosso for Diesel and Donatella Versace.

2013 Life Ball went under the motto 1001 Nights” bringing together many celebrities, including Sir Elton John, Hilary Swank, Melanie Griffith, Barbara Eden, Carmen Electra, Bill Clinton, Anna Netrebko, Erwin Schrott and Fergie. They were all gathered around the mission to raise the awareness of the HI virus and its consequences.

Each year millions of people are being infected with the HIV. Since AIDS was recognized as a clinical disease on 1st of December 1981, many advances have been made in terms of research and prevention. However, the virus is still one of the biggest challenges for the human health.

  • MINI KAPOOOW! Installation At The Salone del Mobile 2013

MINI-KAPOOOW-Installation-THUMBMINI Design Team led by Anders Warming has created an installation – a MINI Paceman as a dynamic structure, which is currently being exhibited during the Salone del Mobile. The installation is set up in an authentic MINI realm of experience – the MINI Paceman Garage.

During the exhibit, MINI KAPOOOW! @MINI Paceman Garage will act as a launch pad and platform for creative exchanges among artists and designers while offering a wide range of events.

But to be more precise, the installation was inspired by the many and different assets of the Sports Activity Coupé. It tries to highlight MINI’s emotional essence and highly distinctive personality.

The first phase of the installation shows the rear end of the MINI Paceman as a dynamic sculpture. When one looks at it feels like it is going to undergo very soon a metamorphosis.

The individual vehicle components seem to fly apart, the colorful threads emanating from it representing this highly energy-charged process. In addition, an interesting element is that the MINI is connected with the people whose profiles can be seen at the front end.

The second step of the installation is where the Paceman crosses a boundary in the middle of the room. This phase offers and interesting new view of the car. It leaves its original form and the front end becomes an idea made of paper.

Only the general, the lines are kept and through numerous bits of paper and colored tabs the MINI Paceman manifest into a new physical form. As a matter of fact, the utilization of paper symbolizes the “prototyping” of a creative process.

The end goal of this interesting project is to present a colourful “wall of fame” displaying not only successful MINI models but also well-known film and cult personalities. To be your own hero – this is the motto which stays behind this unique artistic journey of MINI’s.

With a contemporary and expressive body shape, the Paceman has been created to appeal to a new type of design-conscious customer. The prominent horizontal lines and dynamic curved surfaces give the promise of sporting performance, yet there is an elegant simplicity to the overall form of the car.

The interior has been designed specifically for this model. Its highlight is the innovative rear seat, which has been styled around a lounge concept. Two individual seats provide generous levels of head, shoulder and knee room with outstanding comfort and support. Armrests have been integrated into the rear trim. A two-section version of the MINI Centre Rail storage and attachment system – first seen in the Countryman – comes as standard. A full-length variant is available as an option.

  • New Mini Paceman unveiled

2013 MINI PacemanIt won’t be long before the seventh model in the Mini range goes on sale in the UK, though it’s difficult to know what the British market will make of it. Essentially the new car, called the “Paceman”, is a Mini Countryman with three doors which Mini hopes to market as a “Sports Activity Vehicle”.

Unfortunately the Paceman isn’t all that sporty when compared to many of the larger sports utility vehicles, and it’s hard to say whether drivers will be willing to show it off, even if it is the first “Sports Activity Coupé in the premium small and compact segment”.

That’s not to say that the Paceman doesn’t look good though – inside especially it’s not dissimilar to the Countryman with its large (though not particularly garish) speedo; complete with sat nav, fuel gauge and audio. The rev counter is much more difficult to see, tucked away as it is behind the steering wheel. There’s plenty of information on show if you do crane your neck over the wheel to notice, with an odometer and a gauge for fuel economy on display.

The fuel economy is likely to be one of the major selling points for the Paceman, as it ranges from a very reasonable 46.3 mpg in the standard Cooper S, to a not too shabby 64.2 mpg in the smaller capacity diesel variant.

Sadly the Paceman needs to be cheap to run, costing as it does £18,970 for the most basic version. Road tax is not exactly inexpensive, and cheap car insurance from 123 for Irish customers are among the best available; with reasonable quotes in the UK often hard to come by.

The Paceman looks set to be somewhat rare though due to the extremely niche nature of its audience, so proper protection is absolutely essential. The good news for Mini drivers is that it’s a relatively safe vehicle, with the four wheel drive version handling particularly well even for a small car.

  • 2013 MINI Paceman – Sports Activity Coupe

MINI has added another interesting vehicle to their line-up – the Paceman is the first Sports Activity Coupe in the premium small and compact segment. The small car is has nice presence with its powerful and dynamically stretched lines. th its two doors and large tailgate, plus two full-size individual rear seats, the seventh model in the MINI family complements the elegant sportiness of its proportions with a new rendering of the familiar MINI interior.

The car is designed squarely as a four-seater, which means sports seats for the driver and front passenger are included as standard, and the pair of individual seats in the rear offer impressive shoulder room and headroom, outstanding lateral support and exceptional comfort.

Still, the Paceman offers decent load capacity of 330 litres and 1080 with rear seats folded down.

The drivetrain of the new Paceman includes powerful BMW-sourced engines and optional ALL4 AWD system. The petrol range starts with MINI Cooper Paceman with 122HP (90 kW) and ends with MINI Cooper S Paceman with 184HP (135 kW), while the diesel options are MINI Cooper D Paceman with 112HP (82 kW) and MINI Cooper SD Paceman – 143HP (105 kW).

The Sports Activity Coupe is the second model – after the MINI Countryman –which customers can order with the ALL4 all-wheel-drive system as an option.

The standard equipment of 2013 MINI Paceman includes: air conditioning, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, the Centre Rail and the radio MINI CD with AUX-IN socket.

The options list can add: a sports leather steering wheel with optional multifunction buttons and cruise control, heated seats, an electrically operated glass roof, Comfort Access, xenon headlights, Adaptive Headlights and Park Distance Control.

  • MINI Paceman previewed on Facebook

2013-MINI-Paceman-THUMBMINI Paceman Concept debuted back in 2011 at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. Yesterday, the Mini Paceman Prototype was unveiled on Mini’s Facebook page with four spy photographs, which you can view in the gallery below.

Although there was a slight attempt to hide partially the design of the new MINI model, as you can see not so much is left for the imagination. The car is a two-door powerhouse ready to roar onto streets very soon. It is promised to be powerful and agile, with a most exceptional take on Mini design.

The vehicle is practically a Countryman coupe. It has the same dimensions: length of 4 110 millimetres, width of 1 789 millimetres, and height of 1 541 millimetres. However, one of the most fascinating elements here are the 19″ alloys included. Paceman also boasts bold front fascia and a sloping roofline.

If no changes were made after Detroit, then the MINI Paceman is going to be powered by 1.6 liter four-cylinder turbo petrol engine with 211PS (155 kW) and 260Nm (192 lb-ft).

More information will be revealed around the time of official release at the 2012 Paris Auto Show.
