  • Attractive McLaren P1 GTR looks like the MP4/31 racer. Here’s the truth about it

2016 McLaren P1 GTR with F1 Livery front view

The company honors the track-only hyper car with this special edition

McLaren has just published two images on Facebook. They show a couple of vehicles sharing the same livery. If you are an F1 enthusiast, then you have immediately recognized that the P1 GTR has received a lick of F1’s paint.

Indeed, the Rocket Red and Predatory Grey never looked so good, didn’t they? So, why do we have this special edition car shown on McLaren’s social page? Obviously, the brand decided to honor the track-only hypercar with a special edition. Of course, the entire customization work was done by the McLaren Special Operations (MSO) division, and the specialists there fitted it with the unique orange-grey livery.

Does it however duplicate F1 car’s livery? Yes, in my opinion it does that in the absolute maximum… with a little pinch. Therefore they have tastefully applied orange stripes and elements at the sides and the rear, making the P1 GTR looking even meaner. The front and rearview mirrors are also beautifully accentuated with the contrasting bright color.

Under the hood, there’s still the 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine in full operation. It is connected to an electric motor, both generating 1,000 hp (735 kW). As for the McLaren-Honda MP4/31, it will be at the Spa in Belgium this weekend.

  • Meet the Last McLaren P1™ with Production Number 375

The First and Last Edition of McLaren P1Say goodbye to McLaren P1, because its 375th and final example was just produced… And that’s it for the P1. This brings the curtain down for the most technologically advanced and dynamically accomplished supercar ever created! If you remember, the launch of P1 was lined with an important aim: to be the best drivers’ car on road and track. And it has proven to be one indeed.

The production start was in 2013 and all cars were sold prior to the first one being delivered. And by the way, the first P1 was finished in Ice Silver paintwork and featured a lot of carbon. And each of these 375 examples was custom-built to the exacting specifications of its owner. This of course, didn’t happen without the help of the team at McLaren Special Operations (MSO), which have ensured that no two cars are the same.

    The Last P1

The absolutely last example of the McLaren P1™ is finished in stunning pearlescent orange. The color was achieved via unique tinting process and its echoes the shade of the 64th and final McLaren F1 roadcar, with chassis number #075. And in fact, this color also inspired the Volcano Orange paint scheme, which is available today across the McLaren Automotive range.

  • 1997 McLaren F1 GT and P1 Prost: Best Cars to See at Goodwood

McLaren P1 Prost Side View1997 McLaren F1 GT and 2015 McLaren P1 Prost edition are the biggest stars on display at McLaren’s House this weekend. I am talking about company’s participation at Goodwood Festival of Speed, of course. Precisely, McLaren has prepared to show models from the Sports Series, Super Series and Ultimate Series as well as the three newly-announced model tiers.

The theme of the festival this year is ‘Flat-out and Fearless’ and each of these models are to celebrate it. In other words, every McLaren on display at the even will be an emphasis of a milestone or ‘moment’ from company’s history. There are even some models which have been prepared to pay tribute to legendary drivers who have driven for the team over the years.

    McLaren P1 Prost

Starting with the Ultimate Series, it will be represented by a special P1 model, created by MSO. It will honor Alain Prost, who was a four-time Formula 1 world champion. The livery of the car is inspired by the patriotic French livery of his helmet he worn during the competitions. In other words, the carbon fiber body work of the car is painted in white and includes blue graphics and red highlights.

    1997 McLaren F1 GT

1997 McLaren F1 GT Front View

McLaren F1 GT is probably the most exclusive car on display at the event. It represents the Heritage division of MSO and is probably one of the rarest McLaren road cars ever built. The unit at the GFoS carries chassis number #58F1GT and it has been loaned to McLaren for display.

SEE ALSO: McLaren 570S Coupe is Making Dynamic Debut at Goodwood

Why it is so special? The reason for this is that it is one of only three examples that were designed and built to homologate the McLaren F1 GTR ‘Longtail’ for GT racing during the 1997 season. Its features livery that mimics the monochrome design of the Formula 1 team during the late 1990s. World titles were secured by the Finnish racing driver Mika Hakkinen in 1998 and 1999.

    Super Series

Next is the Super Series will be represented by the limited-run 675LT model. It celebrates Denny Hulme and the company’s founder Bruce McLaren, who achieved success together in Formula 1 and the Can-Am series. Later, their dominance became famous under the ‘Bruce and Denny Show’ name. Here, the car has been inspired by Hulme’s iconic helmet design featuring two black stripes, running front to rear, over contrasting Silica White bodywork. There are also yellow tinted headlamp lenses that echo Hulme’s visor.

Furthermore, McLaren 650S Spider completes the model line-up on static display. It is one of the most important models in the Super Series and pays homage to the founder of the team, Bruce McLaren. It is finished in the iconic heritage McLaren Orange. This color is used to match his M7A Formula 1 car in which he claimed the first Formula 1 win for the team in 1968.

    McLaren Moment at Le Mans

    McLaren 570S Coupe Side View

At last, the fifth ‘McLaren Moment’ is showed via McLaren F1 GTR victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1995. To celebrate this, there will be two models on public display in the Supercar Paddock. These cars will honor two podium finishers.

The first car is the limited edition 650S Le Mans, which has been inspired by the McLaren F1 GTR, #01R, driven by Yannick Dalmas, JJ Lehto and Masanori Sekiya to race victory. The car features Sarthe Grey livery, and is named ‘XP1’. It is characterized by a roof-mounted snorkel, front wing louvres and iconic one-off wheel design.

The second model is another unique McLaren P1 GTR, dressed in iconic yellow and green livery. It mimics the livery of the McLaren F1 GTR chassis #06R, responsible for the third place with the help of the British trio Derek Bell, Justin Bell and Andy Wallace. These two models will be joined by the new McLaren 570S that is going to make a world dynamic premiere at the event.

In other words, Goodwood Festival of Speed is the best place to be this weekend.

The car will be dressed in a special livery inspired by iconic McLaren F1 GTR, chassis #06R, making it a very special limited edition. • Production McLaren P1 GTR Debuts in Geneva [VIDEO]

We had a glimpse of the interior of 2016 McLaren P1 GTR, and it is now time for the motorsport oriented company to show us little more. With the news that a production-intended P1 GTR is coming to Geneva, McLaren has also revealed pictures from the testing at global circuits in Europe and the Middle East. There is also a video showing the latest stages in the development programme of the car, which is featured below.

The launch of the bespoke Driver Programme happens ahead of the start of production car later this year. As testing continues P1 looks like one of the fastest McLarens that wears the famous ‘speed mark’.

Weight-saving measures have been significant here. Combined with the track-optimisation of the petrol-electric powertrain, the new car is set to boast a power-to-weight ratio in excess of 10 percent (when compared to the road-going model). This means more than 700 PS per tonne!

The team at McLaren did extensive work to achieve this result. Thanks to the motorsport-derived technology and expertise, the track-only model has already covered thousands of kilometres of extreme testing.

The result: the tests pushed the performance of the car to its limits! And also revealed the need to further enhance cooling and aerodynamics over the design concept previewed at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance last summer.

This dedicated development programme is continuing at the moment and will do so over the coming months. It aims to additionally tune the performance, aerodynamics, driving dynamics and handling balance. In the forthcoming weeks, new drivers will join the Driver Programme. They will test the car at some of the most iconic racing circuits.

  • McLaren to Call its next Sports Series Black Swan?

McLaren-Sports-Series-THUMBNo, don’t worry. There is absolutely no chance for McLaren to call its new vehicle Black Swan. Instead, it will be probably dubbed McLaren P13 Sports Series, and more importantly, the company has just officially released a first teaser image of the front of the upcoming racing machine. “Black swan moments” is only a metaphor, which means that something is going against ordinary belief and expectations.

And this is what we can expect from the future P13. From the image we see that the vehicle is currently undergoing testing. Nevertheless, the teaser image above does not show much of the car. In fact, it shows it partially and covered with camouflage.

Although it somewhat resembles a Ferrari, the car definitely looks like a contemporary McLaren. You can see the thin LED headlights as well as ten-spoke alloy wheels. Wing mirrors are also there and they are mounted to the doors, and this is what is similar between the P13 and P1, and different between the first and the 650S model.

This car is being developed and released into production before the Acura NSX makes an official appearance. This means that the McLaren will definitely offer a better car Acura. In addition, McLaren Sports Series is set to take on the admirers of the Audi R8 or the Porsche 911 GT3.

P13 will be based on a carbon fiber monocoque and will be powered by a V8 engine. The rumors say that the unit will be a modified 3.8-liter twin-turbo, and just like the P1 it will be coupled to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Last thing to mention is that the car will be a two-seater.
