  • Nissan IDS Concept Shows a Glimpse of the Future!

2015 Nissan IDS ConceptToday, at the Tokyo Motor Skow 2015, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. unveiled the special concept that embodies Nissan’s visions for the future: the zero emission, autonomous driving Nissan IDS Concept. After countless hours of improving the EV technology, the engineering team finally achieved its goal. The vehicle comes with advanced control and safety technologies, along with cutting-edge artificial intelligence. So, let’s check out this sweetie in details.

    Nissan IDS Concept experience

Many view the future of autonomous drive to be a sort of driving from point A to point B without some extravagant and intricate maneuvers, but Nissan team doesn’t think so. This Concept will go for even higher goals: to mimic driver’s manners and offer a driving experience just like his own. So, is it possible?

Even with the latest tech devices, the Concept still offers and Manual Drive mode. It offers linear and smooth acceleration and excellent flexibility. But behind the scenes, the special vehicle continues to provide some assistance and it “learns” at the same time. The EV is ready to take the control over itself, when it is exposed to danger, for example, or when it has to communicate with the driver. Furthermore, the IDS will give any useful information for the traffic conditions and personal interest.

    Interior

    2015 Nissan IDS Concept

Even being a hatchback, the Nissan IDS Concept offers long wheelbase that provides  comfortable seating space and offers even more space when the pilot mode is engaged. This is the special mode that makes the steering wheel to go inside the central console and being replaced by a big flat screen. Yep, it sounds like the future already. But being a hi-tech place, doesn’t ultimately mean it is not comfortable and pleasurable place. The cabin is comprised with mesh leather, all the seats rotate slightly inwards and you will feel as you are relaxing in the living room. How cool is that?

And when the driver selects the Manual Mode, the interior one more time transforms and all the seats face forward. The steering wheel appears along with all the additional driving controls, along with a special heads-up display.

    Exterior

    2015 Nissan IDS Concept

Even though it is a tough task to make people fully trust the technology itself, Nissan tried its best. Along with the innovative communication capabilities, the vehicle will make you confident and relaxed the moment you enter the vehicle. But what about the exterior? There are numerous lights and illuminated signals. The vehicle also demonstrates sweet and beautiful body line that is actually a LED that Nissan team named Intention Indicator. When there are pedestrians coming near the machine, the strip shines white, which means it is aware of them.

The height of the full carbon fiber body is 1,380mm, while the positioning the tires close to the corners maximazes the interior space. The vehicle is geared with large-diameter wheels for high performance, but still smooth drive.

    The high-tech units

    2015 Nissan IDS Concept

Nissan IDS Concept is geared with 60 kWh battery and thanks to the aerodynamics, low stance and reduced weight the car meets all requirements for long-distance runs. Nissan also incorporated Piloted Pack technology that can be operated with smart phone or tablet.

So, it looks like Nissan strikes one more time. Beautiful, contemporary and flexible. Definitely a vehicle from the future.

  • Nissan to Première new Concept SUV at the Sao Paulo Motor Show

Nissan Concept TeaserWith this teaser image Nissan wants us to prepare for a special première which will happen at the Sao Paulo Motor Show happening in 28th of October in Brazil. From what we can see, the concept car to be shown at the event is clearly an SUV type of vehicle. Judging by the philosophy of the Japanese brand we are not surprised that it didn’t’ released any additional information about the model, so we will have to wait until the official debut.

The car will be an expansion of company’s current design language. Nevertheless, the size of the concept outline in the teaser image shows that Nissan is probably planning something more masculine and aggressive. Take a look at the high roof and waistline as well as the slab-like doors.

From what we can see from the front end, it appears to be muscular, includes a big bonnet and semi-exposed wheel arches that incorporate the boomerang styled headlights. At the front we can also see a V -shaped grill, which includes the standard Nissan badge and bold chrome surrounding.

Two years ago Nissan hosted the global debut of the designed in Brazil Extrem Concept. We doubt that we are to see a vehicle of this size although we expect that Nissan will have retained the same aggressive looking, and probably the three-door-style.

  • Nissan Reveals The Story Behind The Design Of Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo [VIDEO]

Nissan_2020_concept_THUMBNissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo has been introduced last week and it was also announced that the virtual car will join the PlayStation3 game on 6th of July. In fact, the game celebrates 15 years anniversary since it was released for the first time on the market. This Nissan concept has a strange V-motion front fascia and slender headlights. Also, there have been added huge air-intakes which were specifically made that big to deliver enough air for the powerful engine. The unit is producing more than 800HP (588 kW).

In the video below, which the company has just published, Nissan tells the story of how Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo’s life began. Initially it was a dream project for young Nissan designers. They were given the freedom to create the perfect supercar … for their own Gran Turismo fantasy garage, of course.

The team at Nissan Design Europe based in London however, created a spectacular design which seemed to have so much potential. It also benefited from input from an engineering team based in Japan.

In addition, their design also adapted cues from current Nissan performance models. The concept was created from scratch with the latest digital tools. In the video the designers say that this design will be used in future Nissan vehicles and probably will turn out to be a future concept.

A full-size Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo will be presented at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

  • Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo

Nissan has officially unveiled the staggering Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo after a lot of teasers and leak images. It is described as a “vision of what a high performance Nissan could look like in the future”, the Concept Gran Turismo boasts a lot of GT-R features.

Essentially, it is a 2+2 supercar featuring a “V-motion” front fascia, slender LED headlights, a ventilated front hood, a carbon fiber front splitter and of course the typical taillights. Other features word mentioning are the impressive and aggressive rear diffuser and a carbon fiber rear wing.

The huge air-intakes are going to deliver enough air for the expected extremely powerful engine, which will power the upcoming Nissan GT-R.

The Concept was developed by a young team from Nissan Design Europe, which was helped by an advanced engineering team from Nissan Technical Center in Atsugi, Japan. The manufacturer didn’t confirm the rumors that the Concept will preview the next generation GT-R, but they said that the model “hints as to how a supercar of the future might look”.

Nissan Concept 2020 Vision Gran Turismo will be available in Gran Turismo 6 in July.

  • Public Feedback Makes Nissan IDx Freeflow IDx NISMO Reality

    2013-Tokyo-Motor-Show-Nissan-IDx-Freeflow-shadow2013-Tokyo-Motor-Show-Nissan-IDx-Freeflow-medium

If you think that the Nissan IDx Freeflow and IDx Nismo on display at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show are tributes to a long-lost past of boxy cars and general sensibility, you’d be wrong. What you see before you is a product of collaboration between Nissan and the masses. The internet masses that is:

“It was designed to appeal to “digital natives,” the generation born after 1990, and integrates their feedback into the creation process. Nissan thinks this approach could have real applications in the near future.”

So no nostalgia was involved in the making of these IDx concepts (ID – identity; x – a “variable representing the new values and dreams born through communication”)? If that really is the case, then we applaud the new age thinking of simple-three box designs and “no nonsense steering wheels”. Let’s face it, these two look brilliant. Nothing too flashy, There isn’t an X-Box bolted to the dashboard and we can’t imagine there is a highly sophisticated vehicle management control somewhere in there that will keep you prisoner for weeks for trying to set the clock. No, in fact, the IDx Freeflow uses an analog clock to tell the time. One thing, however, doesn’t make sense to us – denim covers for the seats, denim patterns here and there? Must have been the work of either hipsters or of someone definitely not born in the 90s. Also, we are not sure what they mean when they say that the cabin has been designed to look like a living room. At 4.1 meters long, just 1.7 meters wide, and 1.3 meters high, the Freeflow is not what a real estate agent would call a bargain. Keep in mind that in addition to four people, the IDx Freeflow needs to accommodate an engine and a gearbox as well. The Nismo Idx, on the other hand is the more racing-oriented twin. An even more simplistic interior is ballenced out by a rather flamboyant exterior that, Nissan admit, has borrowed “liberally from memorable vehicles of yesteryear and the present”. Still, that spirit of the past is said to have come from video games rather then from the real thing.

Not that it’s relevant (because these are case studies and there are no plans for production), but Nissan say that it would be possible to mate a 1.2-to-1.5L petrol engine to one of their CVT in order to form the IDx base drivetrain – sensible, economically, revvy and smart. ‘Boo’ for not actually doing something about it at this point.

“When the designers were first working on conceptualizing the Nissan Resonance, they were inspired by amazing scientific advancements in technology and material innovations. They also were inspired by the aspirations of those people who unabashedly embrace innovation and are optimistic about the future. It was about serving those people a concept vehicle that is forward-looking and fuses style with an athletic ride.”, commented Said Francois Bancon, Nissan Motor Co. division general manager, Product Strategy and Planning.

The Resonance has a bold exterior with a “V-Motion” front fascia and a tinted acrylic grille. There are also some chrome accents, panoramic sunroof and a set of 22” aluminium wheels.

  • 2012 Nissan Hi-Cross Concept finally revealed [VIDEO]

2012-Nissan-Hi-Cross-Concept-THUMB2012 Nissan Hi-Cross Concept is the new dramatic concept car from Nissan and its world premiere is at 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Hi-Cross is a concept crossover which looks like a possible expansion of the current Juke-Qashqai-Murano portfolio. The vehicle is compact yet roomy, elegant yet purposeful. Hi-Cross Concept has a highly space efficient interior with three rows of seats for seven passengers. Its hybrid drive train includes an electric motor – powered by a Nissan-developed compact lithium-ion battery – in combination with a 2.0-litre direct injection petrol engine. Both provide the performance potential of a 2.5-litre with the economy and emissions expected from a much smaller unit. The HEV drivetrain is based on new technology developed by Nissan for front-wheel drive models. However, it was modified to provide four-wheel drive. Nissan’s new generation XTRONIC system is also included and it delivers continuously variable transmission which by itself achieves a 10 per cent improvement in fuel economy over comparable previous generation CVTs. The battery technology has high output, fast-charging compact lithium-ion battery, linked to high-level motor control technology. It provides acceleration assist when needed and permits downsizing of the petrol engine for optimum economy and emissions. In city driving, for instance, the presence of the electric motor and lithium-ion battery allow the engine to be turned off frequently. It can also be disengaged completely with the clutch, and energy can be recovered effectively when braking.

Furthermore, 2012 Nissan Hi-Cross Concept sits on a 2780mm wheelbase. It is 4660mm long, 1850mm wide and 1670mm tall, with 21-inch alloy wheels. The front has a characteristic V-shaped grille set off by distinctive lighting signatures provided by stylish new headlamps. At the rear it has distinctive lighting signatures provided by stylish rear combination lamps echoing with headlamp lighting signature. Inside, the seven-seat cockpit is dominated by a new T-wing shaped dashboard. This is a pure concept car, which explores the potential ideas for the future. It is a high-riding crossover, therefore no wonder where the name came from.
