Here are several starts of a brutal Jeep Cherokee SRT-8 Supercharged with 700HP against some powerful, tuned vehicles – BMW X6M Hamann Stage 2 670HP, Porsche Cayenne Turbo Gemballa GT600 with 600HP, Ford Mustang GT500 612hp and Porsche 911 Turbo Stage 2 580HP.
As you can see, all these SAVs and cars are underpowered, but as we know – power is nothing without control. Although the BMW starts first with reaction time of only 0.310 seconds, it is quickly overtaken by the Jeep. The X6 M crosses the finish line with 248.31 km/h terminal speed against 246.74 km/h for the Cherokee.
In the second start versus the Cayenne Turbo the scenario is the same. Better reaction from the Porsche driver, but worse 60ft and overall performance – 236.43 km/h at 1 mile for the Cayenne and 262.49 km/h for the Cherokee.
The third start is versus the mighty Mustang having 612 HP, a lot less weight and way better cD (drag coefficient). At the start the Mustang is dominated, because it is RWD against the AWD in Cherokee. The Mustang’s 60ft time is bad – 2.198 seconds against just 1.699 seconds for the Cherokee. However, the car crosses the finish line with 284.27 km/h, which is more than enough for a win.
In the last start, the Cherokee is against Porsche 911 Turbo with 580HP. The SUV didn’t have any difficulties, because it started first, with better 60 ft time and overall performance – 260.05 km/h and 29.820 seconds at 1 mile.
Reifen Coch is yet another German based company that customizes performance cars and such. The target car here however is not at all German. The name they gave their product is the “Konquistador” and it is actually an American icon – a Ford Mustang V. It’s “V” for “Fifth generation” but it might as well be for V8 as this untamed pony moves about with a V8 4.6 liter309 kW heart.
So not much room for improvement in the engine compartment. No worries, as Reifen Coch have focused on other aspects of customizing. A flamboyant Cervini-Bodykit has been installed which has holes on the back of the side skirts. These wholes are for the custom made exhaust system. Yes, the Konquistador has side exhaust pipes – a kid’s dream come true. The suspension boasts KW-coilovers with electrically lifting axles and an HLS (Hydraulic Lift System) Kit. The brakes too have been replaced with some “Brembos”.
However, it would seem that Reifen Coch are most satisfied with what they have done to the wheels – 9Jx20H2 Gotham rims at the front and 11Jx20H2 of the same brand at the back. The wrapping comes in the form of four Dunlop tires in sizes 265/35R20 and 305/30R20, front and back respectively.
Ford have announced that the 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 durability car (the prototype that was used to develop the production series) is to be auctioned at the 41st Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction Saturday in Scottsdale, Ariz. The reason is also a just one – bidding money for the car will go for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Up until recently, the prototype had been used by the Ford SVT team and Carroll Shelby to workout how exactly a car performs under rigorous tests and harsh conditions. It was built in 2007 and as a part of the project, it had to be run for 24 hours at a speed of 150 mph on Sebring International Raceway. Other oddities one should know before pulling out the check book include a full-sized roll cage, six-point harness seat belts and Recaro bucket seats. A big plus however, is the underside of the trunk lid which is signed by every SVT engineer who has worked on the development of the GT500 and it is also signed by Carroll Shelby himself.
Carroll Shelby and the Ford Shelby GT500 (2013)
“I raced on the Sebring International racetrack for many years, but my ambition was always to build my own car,” said Shelby. “It was exciting to be back to collaborate on this GT500 durability car with the SVT guys. I’m really proud to have my name on this car. They took my dreams of what a car should be and made it a reality.”
The 5.8-liter V8 engine in the Shelby GT500, has been overhauled in a way so that the maximum of power can be extracted from it – a new transmission, clutch and axle, cross-drilled block and heads, restyled camshaft profiles, a carbon fiber driveshaft. The end result accounts for the 650 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque that hide under the hood.
In recent years, Ford have managed to raise more than 3 000 000 dollars for charity on auctions such as this one. And know a lucky muscle car enthusiast will have the chance to obtain am emblematic “pony” and give something to those in need trough the JDRF.
Restorers of all time classics will be happy to know that yet another, officially licensed, Ford Mustang body is now available to order. The new shell is the ’67 Mustang convertible which adds to an already available array of bodies for the ’65 convertible, the ’67 fastback and the ’69 fastback.
Dennis Mondrach, Ford Restoration Parts licensing manager is adamant that a proposed body for restoration purposes should be rigorously checked if it falls into the standards of the original. Dynacorn International have passed that check effortlessly and have even improved on the standards. “The new ’67 convertible body shell gives restorers a super-solid foundation on which to build their dream pony car.” said Mondrach. According to Jim Christina, Dynacorn principle manager, the panels of the body are made from a modern high-grade virgin steel that is thicker than the original. For further rigidity, newly developed welding methods are applied when assembling the body panels. Several tweaks on known stress areas are also done all in the name of body strength.
The number of genuine, 40 years old spare parts has dropped significantly as the value of classic Mustangs is on the rise. Today fresh, ambitious restorers are highly unlikely to come across a fully usable, original body which they can restore. The process alone is expensive and time consuming. And now thanks to companies like Dynacorn, people wont have to waste resources on this tedious scavenging hunt bur rather order a new body, rust free and fully licensed for the sum of $15,995.
Ford Mustang Convertible body shell (1967)
Background.
The first Mustangs ever to roll out from the Ford factory were a huge success with over a million sold in the first eighteen months. For the next wave, however, Ford needed to revise its love child in order tackle the incoming rivals from GM, Chrysler and various sports cars imported from Britain. Thus the Mustang ’67 was born – the body was widened, the hood lengthened, and the engine bay grew in size to give the freedom of choosing from a wide range of engines starting at the thrifty and peppy 200-cubic-inch inline six-cylinder and ending at a thundering 390-horsepower 427 that came in the Shelby GT500. That marked the beginning of the big-block engined muscle car mania. New features also included an all-new body material, a redesigned grille, new taillights. Inside, the more luxurious interior took the Mustang enhanced its appeal. Buyers could opt for a tilt-away steering wheel, a gauge package with a built-in tachometer, brushed aluminum trim on the dash, door panels and shifter console. There was also a roof console with lights between the sun visors. and the.
The Dynacorn body has taken into account all those changes made back then and is now fully applicable no matter what engine one might chose: the 390, 427 and 428-cubic-inch all can be easily bolted in. Today more than 90 percent of the parts needed to restore a ’67 convertible are made by Ford-licensed manufacturers.
Rock stars and fast cars have always went hand in hand or should I say muscle to muscle.
Recently John Moyer, the bassist of the widely popular heavy metal band Disturbed, has had the pleasure to test out the pumped Mustang 2012 ROUSH Stage 3 and now he is impressed. Very impressed. What follows ahead is truly akin to a love story.
It was on an business project in Los Angeles where Moyer met with ROUSH Performance marketing director Jay Velthoven and sales manager Robert Barben. They were supposed to make a photo shoot with the rocker and two lush Mustangs finely tuned by the hardcore company. Even at that point, Moyer was impressed by the amazingly sporty looks including the green racing stripes on the black one and the red motives on the white one. He was also impressed how subtle ROUSH had been when placing their logo on the cars. No doubt though that these beasts were far from standard. The experience intensified as the photo shoot took place at Mulholland drive for a few scenic pictures. Moyer now had the chance to hear them rumble and to contrast that drama with their smooth ride.
John Moyer Rocks with the 2012 RS3
At the end of the day Jay and Robert very kindly offered Moyer to keep the white one for the night and flung him the keys. Needles to say he accepted. Now this was the real deal. He was in charge of a 540 horsepower beast which was navigated by what he describes as sharp steering and reasonably responsive brakes. The suspension felt rather sporty and yet not hard enough to break your back. He than proceeded on testing the feel of the acceleration starting from first gear, going trough second and banging into third as his body experienced the incoming G forces.
On the Pacific Coast Highway, with barely any traffic at all, he was literally sent into oblivion with that car. The night slipped away, friends and family were frantic about his whereabouts. By the end of his trip he had done 150 miles on the clock.
Reluctantly he handed over the keys in the morning only to find that he was allowed to keep it for the next day as well.
Picture yourselves in his position. What do you do?
If you ask him: “When someone hands you the keys to a 540 horsepower Roush Mustang and says “Have fun!” don’t ask questions, don’t even blink, just get in the car and go.”
Since 1968 Ford’s Cobra Jet Mustang has achieved to make a legacy of power, performance and triumph. In 2008 this legacy was made anew with the limited run of the 40th Anniversary Cobra Jet Mustang (of course it quickly sold out). Consequently the models of 2010 and 2012 are as popular as the previous ones, and moreover they are a proof for the continues Evolution of Ford Racing’s Turnkey Race Car Program
On Friday Dec. 2, Ford Racing unveiled their 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang at the Performance Racing Industry show in Orlando, Fla. The 2013 Cobra Jet went through three year period of testing, racing and customer feedback in order to continue the legacy. It was designed for NHRA Stock and Super Stock competition. And we must say that the model is better than ever and features the latest drag racing technology for greater acceleration and consistency.
To be more precise the 2013 Cobra Jet offers two 5.0-liter Ti-VCT engine options. Therefore every individual taste will be met. Namely, clients have the opportunity to choose a naturally aspirated engine with Cobra Jet induction system, CNC ported heads, high-lift cams and low-drag accessory drive, or a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharged version with CNC port-matched manifold and heads, and a proprietary 10-rib supercharger drive system for high-rpm use without belt slip.
Ford Mustang Cobra Jet (2013)
Furthermore, there has been made improvements in the chassis of the 2013 Cobra Jet. What I mean are the modifications in the lightweight body, which give better weight distribution. On the other hand the electric power steering provides better drivability without parasitic horsepower loss. Additionally a new roll cage design has been optimized for safety and chassis rigidity. Not forgetting the brake pedal – its ratio has been revised as well in order to have more modulation and stopping power. The rear suspension geometry delivers faster and more consistent 60-foot times.
And if you wonder about the numbers of the price, the 2013 Cobra Jet is at best value, with an approximate MSRP of $86,000 (for the naturally aspirated engine option) and $93,000 (for the supercharged engine)
As usual, the 2013 Cobra Jet Mustang will be made by the United Auto Workers at the AutoAlliance International plant in Flat Rock, Mich. Production of Cobra Jets will commence in June 2012, with delivery in the middle of the summer of 2012. The components of the vehicle will be available through Ford Performance Parts. This of course will allow racers to upgrade their Mustangs to Cobra Jet specifications.
Unfortunately 2013 Cobra Jet production is limited to only 50 units.
Like you may already guessed, our competitors for the title ‘Best Looking 2011 Muscle Car’ are three of the most iconic names among this pure American category of performance vehicles – the 2011 Ford Mustang GT, 2011 Chevrolet Camaro SS and the 2011 Dodge Challenger SRT8. While each of these exclusive models boasts its own charm and character, all three are proud successors of the rides that created this class of vehicles. (more…)
Prior Design has introduced complete aerodynamics package for Ford Mustang before ‘09 models.
The body kit includes entirely new front bumper with large air intakes, a pair of modified side skirts and newly styled rear bumper. The package also includes all mounting materials and all parts have TÜV certificate.
Everything fits perfectly and needs no further interventions.
To suit the aggressive package, you’ll definitely need the GT500 model, which is powered by a huge 5.4 liter supercharged V8 delivering 500PS (373 kW) at 6000RPM and 650Nm (480 lb-ft) of torque at 4500RPM. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox delivering all that torque to a LSD at rear wheels.
Ford Mustang appeared in 1964 and became the ancestor of the Pony-Car-Class (Pony-Car-Klasse). Until now, the varieties of such bodies as Coupé, Fastback and Cabriolet is still a sensation due to their appearance.
Design-World Company in Sundern which is, incidentally, for more than six years is responsible for modeling station of CarFilmComponents (CFC-Styling Station), gave the originally equipped, a free-living prairie no weak engine with 412 hp an additional power impetus. Now the engine hasas 435 hp with 5-liter capacity. V8 with 6 speed manual transmission of 2011 model year is fully equipped, including Shaker 1000 CD/MP3 sound system. The above mentioned increase in the capacity is achieved byopen air filter with air box (Airbox), as well as software optimization.
At the same time, the car speed has been limited, but not as in previous versions. This condition is mandatory for such a wild horse.

The alloy wheels of 8,5×20 inches with 255/35ZR20 tires on the front axle, and of 10×20 inches with 285/30ZR20 tires on the back axle are actively supported by the thread undercarriage from H&R.
But let’s move on to the main accomplishment of the Design-World in Sundern: for example, the fact that this company can make your car look different, so no one will confuse it with other models. . For the beginning – the varnishing, including grinding of the plastic parts that were not varnished, such as channel bar, diffuser, radiator and bumper. The black painting of the Mustang GT remained unchanged. The foil finish with contrasting color nuances in metallic black, metallic orange, white, and the carbon foil (CFC-Black-metallic, CFC-Orange-metallic, CFC-White, as well as CFC-Carbon-Strukturfolie-Black).: Who can imagine this free animal in a fast gallop? Without the use of fantasy.
The total cost of the reconstruction of the “CFC-Sundern Mustang Project” is 12.150,00 euro.
After the Scirocco, the Beetle and the Mini, it is time for another legend to comeback on stage. Ford has announced that for the 40th anniversary of the Capri, a new model will be launched on the market both to revive the legend and to compete the Megane coupe and the Scirocco.
The design of the car is expected to follow the lines of Iosis Max, a concept first revealed in 2009. Many people will wonder, if we have a sporty Focus, what’s the use of another Capri? The answer is simple: This will not be a hot hatch, but more a coupe, what is more it will be the new face of Ford and will have the responsibility to show the world Ford’s new vision and design concepts.
Of course sooner or later it will come down to power – and Ford has definitely something to offer – up-to-date with modern tendencies, the engines used will be turbocharged. Unlike the ancestors the new Capri will also be offered with diesel engines 130HP-197HP (expected). The petrol engines will be a 1.6 liter with either 148HP or 178HP and a 2.0 liter with about 200HP. The set up is expected to propel the coupe to 100 km/h (62mph) in about 6 seconds and reach 250 km/h (155 mph).
Ford Capri 1973
To be honest this is a pity. Remember, the top versions back then were 6 cylinders, I do not think anyone needs to be reminded what is the sound of a well balanced 6 cylinder engine. At least in terms of power, things seem to be on the right track. I don’t know if you have ever driven a Capri, but let me tell you something, being too hard on the throttle would make the car drift and smoke would come out of the rear tires. If you are too hard on the new Capri, well, you will definitely feel the G force violently pushing you to the seat, but, there is always a “but”, the plans for the new Capri is to make it FWD. On the one hand this is what car manufacturers tend to do nowadays, but on the other, can you imagine a FWD Mustang or Camaro? This is not how a legend is brought back to life.
So this car is expected to cost some $30 000. Is it worth it? Yes and no to be honest. It is indeed a well shaped car with a lot of sports elements on the body, turbocharged engine and the Capri badge in the back. Which is in my opinion its greatest drawback? No 6 cylinders, no RWD fun, no Capri. You cannot put a “chocolate” badge on cereal and convince your kid it’s made of cocoa, can you?
Each car enthusiast has a movie that makes them smile just thinking of it. You will have the opportunity to read a little more about some of the most cherished cars used in movies.
Number 5
AUDI A8 W12- Transporter 2
This car is taking a serious part in the plot of the movie. Jason Statham needs to chase the bad guys all over the place and the Audi is a serious partner in his mission. The movie is abundant with stunts that the A8 has to perform. Thanks to the massive twelve-cylinder 6.0 liter engine and some driving skill of course, it almost looks easy to do.

Nissan Skyline R34- The Fast and the Furious
One of the fastest cars in the world, the dream of the PlayStation generation. The Skylines used in the movie are GTRs but not quite – the purpose of these cars was to draw attention and being all wheel drive, the grip was too much for burnouts and fun. That’s why the Skylines used, had their front driveshafts excised and the magic was done. As you already know the GTRs are claimed 280 hp from the factory, which is ridiculous for a 6 cylinder 2.6 twin-turbo engine. Still one of the two fastest skylines used in the movies is claimed 505 hp, which is enough to do 12 seconds in the quarter mile run. The main car used in the movie has been equipped with HKS tuning parts, JIC’s suspension and 3 NOS bottles, neither of which had something to do with the engine. Being so full of “extras”, AWD and AWS removed, the performance is not quite as what is expected from a skyline though.

Mini Cooper S John Cooper Works– The Italian Job
Complicated relations, a lot of money, a lot of thrill and a couple of Mini Coopers as a final touch. In the plot several old friends are trying to get to a huge amount of gold. For the purpose they need small, maneuverable and still fast cars. The Mini Cooper turns out to be the best option for the job. The Aero body kit makes the cars look stunning. Did you know that gasoline-powered vehicles were not allowed in the subway system of LA, that’s why a couple of electric cars were built for these scenes? In total 32 Minis were used in the movie, some of them specially customized to make some of the incredible stunts possible.

Volkswagen Beetle – Herbie Fully Loaded
This is a car with a lot of history in the movie world. It has participated in a couple of Disney movies starting in 1968 – The Love Bug. What is strange and interesting about Herbie is that it is almost a human being – has his own thoughts, soul and drives himself. 30 Beetles were used for the footage of the last movie of the series – “Herbie Fully Loaded”. One of the beetles has a 200hp engine that is capable of getting the car to over 135 mph. Unfortunately having all the effects of modern cinema, the car looks normal no more. It moves its bumper, blinks, gives out noises etc. Unlike the first movies from the series, where you could just feel that there was something special about the car, some kind of emotion, without making it look human.

Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ‘Eleanor’ – Gone in Sixty Seconds
The dream machine from “Gone in 60 seconds”. Alike the movie, this car is a true masterpiece and quite a mystery. The car is named Eleanor, but initially the plan was not to use a mustang at all. At first the idea was to have a GT40 grabbing the attention. However, it turned out that building one would cost a fortune even considering what the purpose was. Basically it was all making a car from scratch – literally. The car was first put on paper and then various specialists started creating the separate parts and adapt them to fit the Mustang. What not too many people know is that the side exhausts are not functional and neither are the side air feeds. The car in the movie is shown so fast that the driver was scared of it and would talk to it prior to driving. The car ended up in a private collection, $216 700 were paid for the beauty. Still, there are garages that can build another one for you for some (in) decent amount of money.
Ford has announced a special version of 2012 Mustang V6, which will be offered with a new Mayhem performance package.
“We saw great enthusiasm from fans, with tons of creative, unique names coming in,” commented Brian McClary, Ford social and emerging media specialist.
“The contest was twofold – it let us engage with fans by letting them have a say, and it helped build awareness for the package.”, he added.
2012 Ford Mustang Mayhem is powered by a 3.7 liter V6 engine with 309PS (227 kW) and 379Nm (280 lb-ft) of torque. It is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox and returns 19 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
The car comes with a sport-tuned suspension, a strut tower brace and a revised electronic stability control system. Mustang Mayhem features a high performance braking system. It stands on big 19” alloy wheels fitted with Pirelli high-performance tires. The power is put on the road through LSD (limited slip differential) with ratio of 3.31.
