  • One-Off McLaren MP4-12C High Sport Expected to be Auctioned for More than $1.5 Million at Mecum

McLaren MP4-12C High Sport Front View

The depicted and very rare McLaren MP4-12C High Sport in silver/black/red exterior color is going to be auctioned at the Mecum Auctions’ Kissimmee event next year. The one-off sports car is of course a deed of McLaren Special Operations (MSO), which has an intriguing history making it more and more expensive as the days pass by.

What’s the deal here. Originally this High Sport variant of the MP4-12C had to be produced in a limited run of only five examples. However, there was a big interest among customers so basically MSO made it in ten units. This is actually chassis number 9, but it is one-of-a-kind because it is the single of those ten which has a Formula 1 Vodafone Racing Team colors.

This unit is also responsible for delivering exceptional performance, craftsmanship and exclusivity, making it go from 0 to 60 mph in just 3 seconds and reach a top speed well north of 200 mph.

McLaren MP4-12C High Sport Rear View

McLaren Special Operations’ spirit is also imbued in this 12C GT3 racer. There are a lot of reasons for this, but mainly because of the redesigned front and rear bumpers with side air extractors and louvers on top of the front fenders. These measures increase down force, reduce drag and improve brake cooling.

Also very cool about this project is that it is only on 208 miles. Its uniqueness is further strengthened via the signatures under hood from the winning McLaren team drivers and crew to celebrate victory at Nuremberg, Germany. Speaking about features here, we must also mention the Stealth Package, sport exhaust, carbon ceramic brakes and carbon fiber engine package.

The ninth McLaren MP4-12C High Sport is driven by a mid-mounted 3.8L twin-turbocharged V-8 engine, which is coupled to a seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. It has three driving modes: Normal, Sport or Track. It also includes specially designed travel cases and rides on special bi-color 20-inch lightweight Diamond cut racing wheels.

The interior features a Meridian sound system with navigation, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, carbon fiber, Alcantara and leather in F1 team colors.

It is expected that the price of the car at the Mecum Auctions reaches $1,300,000 – $1,600,000. The event will happen at Kissimmee, January 15-24.

  • DMC Adds GT Package to McLaren MP4 12C Velocita SE

The tuners at DMC are famous for their luxury projects based on supersports cars. Their focus is mainly on Lambos, but from time to time they like to do some work on McLarens. And if you remember the MP4 12C “Velocita” Special Edition project, then now you should be excited since the specialists have developed an additional GT package for the automobile.

As DMC says, this car expresses tuning at its finest. The reason for this is the included materials like the lightweight carbon of the body kit, the titanium exhaust system and the Italian leather inside.

Starting with the front, the additional bumper has received a new “GT package” lip, and the grill has been changed for more fierce design. There have been also added aggressive F1 carnards and side skirts, which further enhance the appearance of the car.

At the back we see the most striking elements. First, the rear diffuser has received revised tunnel set-up, while the rear spoiler has been substituted with light weight one. Just take a look at the rear wing and then proceed to the roof where you’ll see the GT scoop. It has been put there not only for aesthetic purpose but also because it can direct the air flow to the rear wing, so basically these two work together.

ECU changes have been applied to the engine, too. It now produces 660 hp (485 kW) and 680 Nm (502 lb-ft), which is pretty impressive given the fact that the standard model could only do 592 hp (435 kW) and 599 Nm (442 lb-ft).

What’s left to review is the new interior of this McLaren and although we haven’t received any pictures of it we are pretty sure it is impressive. According to DMC all leather panels can be substituted with a red tone, depending on customer’s wish. The cabin can be further enhanced with various materials such as carbon or wood, leather or Alcantara. What’s your choice?

  • DMC McLaren MP4 12C Velocita Wind Edition

DMC has unveiled their latest project based on McLaren MP4-12C. The name of the project is Velocita – Wind Edition and comes with styling and performance upgrades as well. The pictures in the gallery has been taken at the beautiful french riviera. Enjoy!

Otherwise the tuned MP4-12C boasts a complete aerodynamics package made from carbon fiber, a complete titanium sports exhaust system and exclusive Italian Leather on the interior.

The exterior has received a new front lip spoiler, center sword and aggressive F1 canards. There are also new side skirts, a new rear diffuser with a revised tunnel set-up and 2 fins. The standard rear spoiler as been replaced with a light weight base. The most fierce feature of the car however, may be the rear wing. Together with the aero scoop on the car’s roof, it creates an aura of perfection.

The 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 is boosted to 660HP (489 kW) and 678Nm (502 lb-ft) of torque. The result is thanks to the new exhaust system and an ECU re-map. This is an increase of 35HP and 78Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in less than 3.0 seconds and a top speed of over 340 km/h (211 mph).

The interior will be designed according to each client’s individual requirements. There are no limits when it comes to customising the driver cabin with Carbon, Wood, Leather or Alcantara.

  • Rare McLaren MP4-12C High Sport For Sale

2012-McLaren-MP4-12C-High-Sport-shadow2012-McLaren-MP4-12C-High-Sport-mediumMcLaren Newport Beach is the only authorised McLaren dealer in the Orange County and Sand Diego county, and today they have good news for you, the above-average customer. It’s in the form of a Pearl White 2012 McLaren MP4-12C High Sport that has only done 4,713 miles.

High Sport means that there are only a few of these on the streets (note the “Chassis 4” (out of 10) plates). It also means that you get cool stuff on it which you won’t find on standard editions MP4s. Stuff like an even more downforce-friendly carbon fiber front bumper, a composite underbody again with more downforce generative properties, carbon fiber rear wheel vents, front wheel arch louvers, carbon vented rear deck and engine cover vents, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon mirror caps and an F1 style badge.

That’s a lot of niceties but you do pay a lot of money for them. $399,888 to be precise. The original MSRP stood at $458,256 so that’s quite the discount (for a car that has barely seen the light of day). Apparently, everything has been kept up to standard since day one by an authorized McLaren dealer. You also can opt for McLaren’s Qualified Extended Warranty.

The MP4-12, although a tiny bit outdated nowadays, is still a serious player. It holds a 3.8-liter Twin Turbo V8. This one being an HS, it most probably has a boost of 75 hp over the standard 592 value. Quite the catch then!

  • McLaren MP4-12C – 0-96 km/h in 2.8 seconds

DragTimes has published a video showing the MP4-12C doing some acceleration tests – 0-96 km/h (0-60 mph).

The sports car manage to complete the discipline in 2.8 seconds, which is a 0.1 seconds faster than previous tests. This means, that the McLaren MP4-12C is as fast as Nissan GT-R Facelift, which also did 2.8 seconds – 0-96 km/h.  However, the MP4-12C is a lot faster than the GT-R from 0-160 km/h (0-100 mph) – 1.0 second.

The MP4-12C had street-legal Toyo R888 tires featuring the same compound and tread wear rating as the factory-fitted Pirelli Corsa.

Unfortunately, no additional information has been released so far in terms of what the enhancements in the MP4-12C will be. • McLaren P1 at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show

McLaren Automotive has confirmed that the global debut of the production-ready McLaren P1 will be at the 83rd Geneva Motor Show.

The manufacturer has released a short video revealing the awesome sound of the sports car. It will dopt a race-inspired digital dash readout, and gives further information relating to the levels of performance that can be expected with a highly-focused “Race” mode.

On selecting Race mode, the large double element adjustable ‘active’ rear wing extends, and the pitch of the wing alters into an optimal aerodynamic position. In Race mode the screen includes a bank of lights across the top, which illuminate green, followed by red and finally blue. These act as a shift indicator, as in a Formula 1 car.

Still, no performance details were revealed, but the car is expected to come with a modified version of the 3.8 liter twin-turbo V8 fitted in MP4-12C.

The McLaren Automotive press conference will take place at 11.15am CET (10.15am GMT), Tuesday 5 March.

  • 1969 McLaren M7C and MP4-12C Spider

McLaren is going to celebrate their 50th anniversary on September 2nd, this year.

The original name of the company is Bruce McLaren Motor Racing Ltd and it has been launched since 1963. For the celebration, McLaren will use a 50th anniversary logo on everything from their shirts to the new MP4-28 Formula 1 that will debut on January 31st. They also intend to host a lot of unique events and celebration throughout the year.

If we were to follow Bruce’s words to the letter, there’d be little time for recollection, but on the eve of our half-century there’s surely time for the briefest of breaths and the opportunity to take a look behind us at the sweeping vista built up in the indelible shadow of our founder:

    • Our Formula 1 team has become a global household name; since our arrival in the sport, at the 1966 Monaco Grand Prix, we have won more races (182) than any other constructor, started from pole position 155 times and scored 151 fastest laps. In 2012, we achieved the fastest-ever time for a Formula 1 pitstop (2.31s at Hockenheim), recorded our 58th consecutive points-scoring finish, an all-time record, and have now led more than 10,000 racing laps.
    • The exploits of our greatest world champions will always bring F1 to life: Emerson Fittipaldi ignited the passion of his native Brazil; James Hunt created as many headlines on the front pages as on the back; Niki Lauda and Alain Prost turned sport to science; the burning intensity of Ayrton Senna will live on for ever, while Mika Hakkinen and Lewis Hamilton will always be remembered for their raw speed and fearless aggression.
    • Our legacy in North American sportscar racing is writ equally large: in the heyday of the mighty CanAm series, we steamrollered the opposition, lifting five successive championship trophies (1967-1971) and winning an incredible 43 races in our iconic, thundering V8-engined sportscars.
    • We went to the Indy 500 for the first time in 1970, returning with greater strength until we won the USA’s most famous motor race in 1974 with Johnny Rutherford. We repeated the feat with Rutherford in 1976, too.

    • Today, every single car in Formula 1, the Indycar Series and NASCAR relies upon McLaren Electronics’ standardised ECUs to control their engines and feed data back to the garage.
    • Introduced back in 1993, the McLaren F1 road car has lost none of its unique appeal and is still considered by many to be automotive world’s definitive supercar. To this day, it remains the fastest naturally aspirated production car in the world. In GTR racing guise, it won the 24 Hours of Le Mans, also scooping third, fourth and fifth places on its debut in 1995.
    • The next roadcar project was with German manufacturer Mercedes-Benz, and saw the successful build of the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, which became the best-selling carbon-based car ever.
    • Since its launch in 2010, McLaren Automotive has developed into a world-class road car manufacturer, successfully developing and building the 12C and the 12C Spider high performance sports cars. Both models exploit our unparalleled understanding of carbon fibre and electronic driver systems to create a groundbreaking product of unequalled weight, strength, performance and driveability.
    • In a return to our sportscar roots, the debut of the 12C GT3 was an unqualified success, scoring 19 victories on its competitive debut in 2012. In September, as Vodafone McLaren Mercedes crossed the flag to win in Monza, McLaren’s GT cars also took top spot at races in British, French and Spanish championships – an incredible achievement.
    • Fittingly, this year, McLaren Automotive stands poised to open its 50th global dealership ahead of the worldwide launch of the P1™ – our newest model and a machine that’s set to rewrite the definition of the modern supercar.
    • Away from the track, McLaren leads the world in the application of Formula 1 technology and expertise to other industries. McLaren Applied Technologies helped British cyclists, rowers, sailors and canoeists win 15 gold medals last summer. We worked alongside Specialized to design Mark Cavendish’s world championship-winning S-Works Venge bicycle. Working with Birmingham Children’s hospital, we have improved the monitoring of sick children in intensive care. McLaren has also designed systems to help the Bay Area Rapid Transit railway in San Francisco to run more efficiently and to reduce the CO2 emissions from plane movements at airports.
