  • Morgan Plus 4 Super Sports Baby Doll VI Comes Back

Morgan-Plus-4-Super-Sports-THUMBMorgan Plus 4 Super Sports Baby Doll VI comes to pay tribute to the Morgan Plus 4 Super Sports model, which was introduced for the first time in the distant 1961. Back then it was one of the few cars which offered the best price-for-performance value.

Its lightweight aluminum body delivered crisp handling in a design reminiscent of the great, fully fendered sports cars of the 1930s. During the years between 1961 and 1968 only 104 examples of the aluminium-bodied Super Sports were produced with Triumph TR4A-engines.

In those times appeared the original Baby Doll V, which was ordered in the spring of 1962 by Lew Spencer, a well-known Southern California Sports Car Club of America member and local Morgan dealer. His dream was to have the ultimate racecar with sleek and low-body.

Now Morgan is introducing the next step in the evolution of this emblematic model, which is the Morgan Plus 4 Super Sports Baby Doll VI. It is offered in two colour options: Kingfisher Blue white stripes and Westminster Green yellow stripes.

Under the hood can be found the 260 hp (191 kW) Omex engine mated to a Mazda gearbox. Other highlights included here are the oil cooler, sports exhaust system (repackable silencer, 200 cell cat), gaz adjustable dampers, 4.1 LSD ratio axle, Frt & Rear disc brakes (including anti tramp bars), brake re-action bars, Panhard rod, Fire Extinguisher (electric), Foot rest (over extinguisher), Inertia bypass (on bulkhead), Roll bar, Battery Cut off switch, rain light, Ali floor pans, Harnesses (4 POINT) and more.

The exquisite model rides on Yokohama A048 wheels in size 205/60/15 which are perfectly mated to the Roadster Alloy wheels. The interior exudes style thanks to the Tillett carbon race seats with Aero Racing logo on headrest, removable steering wheel, the new dash, dials and switches, two Aero Screens, Baby Doll badge on back panel, etc.

  • Petrolicious: Man of Morgan

A new exciting project has just gone live and its name is Petrolicious. The web platform will focus on high quality content for vintage cars and the people working behind the project are promising some great stuff coming down the line.

A new video will air once a week starting with the one below named “Man of Morgan”. The story it tells is about Derek Wilburn of Long Beach, California, who is a collector of many things and of Morgan’s history.

In fact you will see in the footage that his house and garage hold enough intriguing items. Definitely this is the vintage shopper’s paradise, filled with antiques, bicycles, and other. However the true passion of Wilburn is the Morgans (I can relate to this pretty well).

Building and restoring the automobiles has been something which happened in his everyday life since childhood. You can literally see Derek’s joy when he talks about Morgans!

  • Morgan Lineup at Geneva 2012

Morgan-Stand-Geneva-thumbMorgan company is a frequent participant at the Geneva Motor Show. They see it as an important venue for debuts of production cars or flamboyant concepts. For this year, the 2012 Geneva Show is the company’s first major event. They have a wide arrangement of classic looking, boldly designed modern machines on display. Some of the newcomers include the Aero Coupe, Plus 8, the new 3.7l Roadster and the fully electric Plus E.

Which car on the colorful stand causes most stir is debatable. The dramatic Aero Coupe is also a looker while the all-electric Plus E concept seems to be getting much media attention.

  • Morgan Plus E Concept to be revealed in Geneva

Morgan-Plus-E-Concept-THUMBMorgan has designed an electric sports car with a five-speed manual gearbox. The company has worked in collaboration with technology specialists from Zytek and Radshape. The new roadster will be showcased as concept in Geneva and will test the market reaction.

Morgan Plus E Concept combines Morgan’s traditional look with high-technology construction and a powertrain that offers substantial torque instantly at any speed. The manual gearbox, in addition, increases both touring range and driver involvement. The concept vehicle is based on a tailored version of Morgan’s lightweight aluminium platform chassis. Then it has been clothed in the revised „traditional‟ body from the new BMW V8-powered Plus 8. Power is delivered by a new derivative of Zytek’s 70kW (94bhp) 300Nm electric engine. In details, this Zytek unit is mounted in the transmission tunnel and drives the rear wheels through a conventional five-speed manual gearbox. Moreover, the clutch is retained, but because the motor provides torque from zero speed. Hence, it is the drivers’ choice whether to leave it engaged when coming to rest and pulling away. The multi-speed transmission allows the motor to spend more time operating in its sweet spot, where it uses energy more efficiently. In addition, it also allowed the engineers to provide lower gearing for rapid acceleration.

The work of collaboration is set to createvtwo engineering concept vehicles. The first is going to be quipped with the five-speed manual box and Li-ion batteries. It will be used for preliminary engineering assessment. On the other hand, the second will be closer to potential production specification, with alternative battery technologies and possibly a sequential gearbox. Of course, both models will carry the significant design of Morgan and will bring the traditional elegance to life. In addition, exquisite craftsmanship with the latest light-weight construction techniques and a choice of high-efficiency engines that offer everything from economical daily motoring to outstanding super car performance will be the highlight of the vehicle. The high-precision sheet metal components and assemblies will be delivered by Radshape. The company combines traditional craftsmanship with substantial investments in the latest production technologies.

  • New Morgan Roadster 3.7

Morgan-Roadster-thumbMorgans have always been about the nostalgic spirit of classical roadsters and coupes. That is why almost all of the current Morgan cars look like as if they have been stolen from a collector’s garage. They are for people who would love to take a ride around the country side in a real time machine. No, really, they can go fast enough to throw you back to the past because underneath the hood one won’t find a grandfather’s clock but a masterful modern engine. The Morgan Roadster is no exception from that rule – techy performance concealed in an old-school shell.

Power comes from a Ford 3.7 Cyclone V6 engine that develops 280 hp at 6000rpm and 352 Nm of torque. A Ford six speed manual gearbox on the other hand, crunches those numbers into sheer force on the tarmac. Keeping in mind that this car weights only 950 kg, the engine propels it to 60mph from a stand still in just 5.5 seconds. Mighty brisk! That is why the suspension is also clever enough to keep the car on the road – there’s a limited slip differential with cone drive for that extra grip and sideways buffoonery.

Inside, leather welcomes you to strap yourself in and enjoy the dashboard blend of digital and analogue dials – a surreal combination of both worlds. Most of the instruments are framed in woods which is just an example of how exotic this car really is. The convertible roof, although not automatic, is easy to install and creates a warm and private atmosphere.

  • Morgan Plus 8 4.8 litre

Morgan Plus 8 THUMBThe new Morgan Plus 8 4.8 litre is all about class, style and uniqueness. It makes use of technology from the aircraft industry in order to achieve weight of only 1100kgs. For instance, the convertible mohair roof is easy to erect with a double thickness liner for insulation. Moreover, there is plenty of space for the tallest of drivers. The air conditioning is featured as standard equipment in the leather lined cockpit which also includes a lockable stowage compartment. Of course, a radio/CD player with a high quality speaker system comes also as standard equipment.
