  • Alfa Romeo MiTo By Marshall Concept Car

Alfa-Romeo-MiTo-By-Marshall-Concept-THUMBAlfa Romeo MiTo By Marshall is a concept which is a result of the collaboration between the Italian car company and the legendary music brand Marshall Amplification. The car is unique and is inspired by the look and feel of Marshall’s iconic amplifier equipment. It even features a powerful Marshall JVM 50w amp head that runs two 12 inch 75w speakers, all of which is installed in the boot! The model has its public debut yesterday – at the screening of Dave Grohl’s [Foo Fighters, Nirvana] Sound City documentary at Olympic Studios. The car will be also exhibited at various automotive and music events through the year.

The exterior of MiTo By Marshall sports the iconic gold panel finish of Marshall’s equipment. The color can be seen on the grille, front and rear headlight surrounds, door mirror covers, door handles, side door trim and lower bumper trim. There are Marshall badges on each rear pillar as well as Jim Marshall’s signature above the side indicators. The rear windscreen includes #LIVEFORMUSIC graphic.

The interior is spectacular and it features a lot of carbon fiber. Just take a look at the pics. Of course, the Marshall styling is continued inside through tread plates on the door sills, a distinctive white piping around the dashboard’s centre console and the iconic gold panel finish on the Alfa D.N.A. Selector surround.

The gear knob has been replaced by a classic Shure SH55 microphone. All seats have been upholstered with the same materials used on Marshall’s amplifiers. This includes grille cloth on the seat centres and white piping around the inner seat contours. There is close-matching leather on the seat sides, Marshall logos on each front seat as well as special floor mats.

In the boot, the 50 Watt JVM205H amp delivers a two channel preamp: clean/crunch and overdrive. The two independent channels both have three modes, which means that the JVM205H is tonally very versatile. Furthermore, the amp head features two studio quality digital reverbs, two master volumes, and Stompware foot switchable memory, FX loop and master settings.

Alfa Romeo MiTo By Marshall Concept vehicle is built upon the 2014 MiTo Distinctive. It is powered by a 1.6 JTDM-2 120 hp (88 kW) engine. Other touches that were left unmentioned are the 18 inch alloy wheels, red brake calipers, aluminium sports pedals, chrome exhaust pipes and the Uconnect 5 inch colour touch screen infotainment system.

  • Alfa Romeo MiTo And Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde Debut At Goodwood

2014-Alfa-Romeo-Giulietta-QV-THUMBAlfa Romeo introduced MiTo and Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde models at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Now, both vehicles are set to make a debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the end of June. In fact, the Giulietta is celebrating its 60th anniversary with this new QV version. The car is the perfect example of the brand’s DNA. It is driven by the 1750 Turbo Petrol engine, which produces 240 hp (276 kW). The unit is coupled with a six-speed, twin dry clutch ALFA TCT transmission that contributes to the achievement of 6 seconds acceleration time for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h. The top speed is electronically limited to 149mph.

The exterior of the car is distinguished by its lowered sports suspension and the legendary Quadrifoglio Verde emblem on the front wings. In addition, the car features dark-tinted rear window glass and the Anthracite finish on the mirror fairings, front grille, door handles and fog-light frames. At the back, there are two large exhaust tailpipes. Giulietta QV runs on 18-inch alloy wheels behind which one can see red four-piston Brembo brake callipers and large 320mm brake discs.

The ultimate expression of Italian style can be seen throughout the interior of the car. First of all, the designers added new wraparound sport seats, with a one-piece backrest and trimmed in leather and Alcantara. There is a brand new steering wheel, trimmed in leather and accentuated by contrasting white stitching. Aluminium sports pedals, darkened interior headlining, special floor mats and a leather-trimmed gear lever and parking brake lever round-out the interior.

Giulietta Quadrifoglio Verde also includes 6.5-inch Uconnect touch-screen multimedia system. It comes with integrated satellite navigation with 3D bird’s-eye view maps, progressive route guidance and ‘One-Step Voice Entry Destination’ function. The system also features DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity with music streaming, Aux-in/USB port and voice command operation.

The other model which is carrying the Quadrifoglio Verde emblem is the Alfa Romeo MiTo. The car is powered by 1.4-litre MultiAir Turbo Petrol engine, which works in combination with the ALFA TCT transmission with steering-wheel paddle shifters. The unit produces 170 hp (125 kW) and up to 184lb/ft (250 Nm). ALFA TCT achieves 0 – 100 km/h acceleration time in 7.3 seconds. The top speed is limited to 136mph.

The new MiTo is also getting a new matte Magnesio Grey exterior body colour. It features enhanced styling attributes such as a burnished finish on exterior elements and the 18-inch alloy wheels, plus a rear spoiler, sports rear bumper and twin exhaust pipes. The interior is also revised. It includes new flat-bottom sports steering wheel and the new Uconnect five-inch touchscreen multimedia system with DAB and satellite navigation. And this comes as a standard.

The interior is also highlighted by the new flat-bottomed sports steering wheel, trimmed in leather with contrasting white stitching (just like Giulietta QV), and including paddle-shifters for the ALFA TCT transmission, as well as the new instruments with integrated Quadrifoglio Verde logo. The sports seats are trimmed in specific Quadrifoglio Verde fabric and finished with white-and-green stitching.

  • Alfa Romeo Mito Refined By Vilner

The tuning experts at Vilner have prepared for us today an exclusive project which has captured our hearts and minds. Alfa Romeo Mito is called by the designers “hooligan”. Of course – metaphorically. Besides the exclusive pictures, which you are first to see, they have also disclosed information of how the restyling process went.

Originally, the Alfa Romeo Mito is powered by 1368 cubic meters 1.4 Turbo engine that is capable of generating 155 horsepower (114kW) and 230 Nm (170 lb-ft) of torque. These figures weren’t enough for Vilner, and therefore the powertrain was optimized.

After the modification, the 1.4 Turbo unit was ready to deliver a total of 200 hp (147kW) and 279 Nm (206 lb-ft) of torque. Then, the specialist continued with the enhancement of the exterior.

Probably, the first association with an Italian car is the color red. This Alfa Romeo exterior has been finished in exclusive red lacquer that features a pearl effect. In contrast to this color, the tuners decided to give a black lacquer varnish treatment to the side mirrors, door handles, grills, tail-light rings and diffuser.

Other highlights here make the headlights, the 17 inch rims and wheels and the exhaust-end pipes that were decided in matt-grey. Inside, the luxury treatment continues with the extensive use of nabuck, Nappa and carbon leather. Of course, these materials come to support a complete re-design of the interior.

Further modifications inside include the plastic elements that were metallized and now sport aluminum effect, front seatbelts in red and accents on the floor mats in the same color. An individual traveling bag made in the same style and materials as the car was also exclusively provided for this project. Vilner Alfa Romeo Mito has a price of 13 000 Euro.

  • 2013 Alfa Romeo MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK Limited Edition

Alfa Romeo has introduced the MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK Limited Edition at the Paris Motor Show. Currently only 28 examples are destined for UK.

To mark the occasion, Alfa Romeo coordinated a thrilling, world first driving dare involving precision driver Paul Swift and British Superbike rider Chris ‘The Stalker’ Walker. Four wheels met two at Silverstone circuit in a challenging manoeuvre with Chris on a Kawasaki ZX-10R Ninja British Superbike ‘undertaking’ Paul in the Alfa MiTo SBK with the car up on two wheels. As Paul took the Alfa MiTo SBK around the sweeping Brooklands corner, Chris throttled in on the inside line, building up enough speed to get the bike over and, for a brief moment, go under the chassis of the Alfa MiTo SBK before speeding out the other side to safety.

The MiTo Quadrifoglio Verde SBK Limited Edition comes with a two-tone exterior with 18” alloy wheels. It also features Brembo brakes and an Alfa Active Suspension with adjustable shock absorbers.

  • Alfa Romeo MiTo and Giulietta – Intelligent All-Wheather Control

Alfa Romeo has presented their innovative D.N.A. system, which features an All-Weather driving mode for tackling some of the most wintery road conditions.

The intelligent Vehicle Dynamic Control is fitted on both Alfa MiTo and Giulietta ranges with drivers able to select from ‘D’ (Dynamic), ‘N’ (Natural) and ‘A’ (All-Weather) driving modes at the simple touch of a switch.

In AW (All-Weather) mode, the ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) system monitors tyre grip and the car’s yaw and the steering angle. Whenever is required, the system decreases the throttle opening and applies the brakes to individual wheels to maintain stability. It works the same way as BMW’s DSC (Dynamic Stability Control).

The VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) system becomes more intrusive, ideal for situations where wheels are on both snow and tarmac, a Mµ-Split control function enables the car to find traction and control simultaneously on two completely different road conditions. This all works in conjunction with the DST (Dynamic Steering Torque) feature that provides steering torque movements to prompt natural correction of oversteer. Finally, Hydraulic Brake Assistance also increases braking pressure, therefore reducing braking distances in an emergency.

“Innovations such as the Alfa D.N.A. system help make Alfa Giulietta one of the safest models in its class with a 5-star Euro NCAP rating including an 86% score in the Safety Assist category. We think it’s a great choice all year round, but it’s also the smart choice in these tough winter months when drivers rely more on their vehicle’s technology to keep them safe and in control.”, commented Damien Dally, Head of Brand, Alfa Romeo UK.

  • The Future of Fun-Cars, Oddly Shaped Coupes?

The fun-cars have gone a long way. The swinging 60s created a demand for highly impractical yet beautiful cars. It was mainly Europe that latched onto the new fashion and the car acquired a whole-new purpose. Manufacturers like Fiat, MG and many others started concentrating on small cool two-seaters and coupes and the party lasted till the early 1970s when the fuel crisis put a new emphasis on the industry and the cars had to become practical (and boring) once again.

The times have changed, so has the technology. You no longer have to build a fuel-inefficient car for it to be fun to drive. As the modern car designers become braver and braver, we see a positive tendency in the automotive market with the concept of fun-cars resurrected. Small and quirky cars are the new craze – they seem to be getting a lot of love right now from everyone, both customers and motoring journalists.

The new generation of fun-cars is very distinctive. They are mostly small 3-door hatchbacks that may appear oddly-shaped to some, but very stylish to others. They are fun to drive because sporty features are often incorporated. They usually have a bold sporty look, excellent aerodynamics, sporty color and sporty wheels. Even with their small size, fun-cars can be roomy enough to fit in four adults comfortably.

To create fun in driving, they are often fitted with small but nippy 1.4 litre to 1.6 litre petrol engines depending on the model and variant. They are available in both 5 or 6-speed manual transmission or automatic transmission. There are many brands playing in the newly-born category but several vehicles stand out: the Hyundai Veloster, Nissan Juke, Alfa Romeo Mito, VW Beetle and the Mini One.

A car to watch is the Hyundai Veloster. It has aggressive contour lines and an excellent interior. Beneath the bonnet is a 138 horsepower, 1.6 litre GDI Double Overhead Cam 4-cylinder engine equipped with the latest Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing (D-VVTi) technology. It is equipped with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed dual clutch transmission. Performance on the road is stellar; you can even get 40 miles to a gallon. When driving, it gives out a smooth, power-efficient force when you accelerate. Thanks to the ever increasing quality and low prices, Hyundai is one of the first choices for people looking for car finance.

    Hyundai Veloster

The Alfa Romeo Mito is another cool little vehicle worth a look. It is a small car fitted with a patented Multiair 78 horsepower, 1.4 litre entry level petrol engine. Available in Italian racing colors (red, yellow and green), the Mito is quick and fast even with the entry level engine. However, if you want it to be a little quicker off the mark, you can get the 1.6 litre Distinctive S/S 3-door model. Driving and handling is good but the passenger leg room may not be comfortable for taller passengers.

    Alfa Romeo MiTo TwinAir

Now, the VW Beetle of course is a legend. The design is classic and iconic, not to mention that it is equipped with the latest safety features. Although the VW is basically a 2-door car, it is included in the fun-car category because it is really fun to drive. The turbo-charged engine can accelerate fast enough but the fuel economy is not that good compared with the Alfa Romeo Mito. Now with the new model recently launched, the previous generation has slightly depreciated. At Creditplus car finance specialists we notice an increased demand for the previous model Beetle. We are sure you will agree when we say that this is probably one of the most fun cars you can purchase on today’s market; especially if you opt for the original Beetle.

    2012 Volkswagen Beetle

Out of all the options, the Nissan Juke stands out as a very original and quirky car. It’s the styling that makes it so desirable. What is it really? A coupe or a 4×4? In fact, it’s classified as a crossover, which means it’s a hybrid of a utility vehicle and a sporty coupe. Although the engine size of 1.6 litres don’t suggest it’s particularly quick, the small Nissan is a very dynamic car. The 1.6 Dig-T version is the one to go for if you’re looking for good times behind the wheel.

    Nissan Juke

Lastly, we have the Mini One – its predecessor experienced the previous reign of the fun-cars. It is a 3-door hatchback with entry level variants as well as a sport variant. The entry level version look almost as good as the sporty One. The difference is in the engine configuration. The entry level comes in a smaller engine while the sports variant comes in 1.6 Liter 4-cylinder DOHC engine. All in all the car looks great and drives very well – that’s why it remains one of the favourite.

    Mini One

These were the most popular models, however, other manufacturers like Fiat, Citroen and Renault are quickly catching up.

Offered with the sporty aluminium pedal unit, Cruise Control, dual zone climate control system and Blue&Me system, the powerful MiTo SBK Limited Edition can “wear” two body colours (black and Alfa red) that can be matched with three roof shades: black, Alfa red and the new Cristallo white. The central Alcantara® fabric is distinguished by the Alfa Romeo logo, reproduced in an absolutely original way. It is all embellished with new red stitching that exalts the craftsmanship of the product on the leather trim of the gear lever knob and steering wheel, the latter complete with radio controls. Lastly, the central panel of the dashboard is made truly unique by the SBK Limited Edition plate with progressive numbering from 1 to 200.

The special edition MiTo is powered by a 1.4 liter MultiAir turbocharged engine with 170HP (125 kW). 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds, 4.8 litres per 100 km (49 mpg US).
