  • Mazda team to unveil MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Edition

2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary Back in 1989 at the Chicago Auto Show Mazda revealed MX-5 Miata for the first time. Now, after 30 years, the team is proud to unveil one more unit at the same show. This time the audience will be pleased to witness the global debut of 2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary.

Embracing the philosophy of its predecessors, the special edition incorporates three decades of history. First of all, the Anniversary edition pays homage to the early lightweight European sportscars and of course, to the designers who have put their hearts and souls in the spirit of the original MX-5 Miata.

2019 Mazda MX-5 Miata 30th Anniversary will be available for both soft top and RF models and will be based on the already successful 2019 MX-5 Grand Touring. This means that the newcomer will include a refined drivetrain system that delivers a total of 181hp and 151 pound-feet of torque. However, the first noticeable feature is the new exterior finish – Racing Orange. Miata fans out there will remember that the original 1989 Miata was bearing this very same color scheme and it is also a tribute to these glorious good ol’ days.

This color scheme continues to the interior with orange louvers and orange piping on the heated RECARO sports seats. In fact, these seats are exclusively wrapped in Alcantara, which can also be found in the door inserts and lower instrument panel. As one might well imagine, these are only part of the exclusive equipment. What we know so far, is that additional gadgets include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with SiriusXM and new SiriusXM three-year Traffic Plus and Travel Link subscription.

Also, in order to contrast the notable color scheme, engineers have included new RAYS ZE40 17-inch Dark Gunmetal forged alloys that perfectly match to vehicle’s legacy. Based on the Global MX-5 Cup Car, these do fit car’s overall sporty and aggressive stance. A special “30th Anniversary” serialized badging on the driver’s side rear quarter panel and additional unique components will finish this sexy design concept, but as it seems, we are yet to see the final result.

  • Surprisingly Similar: What Happens When We Compare 2016 Miata to a 2015 Boxster?

2016 Mazda Miata vs 2015 Porsche Boxster2016 Mazda Miata and 2015 Porsche Boxster are two vehicles, which are famous for its origin, heredity, immense performance capability and compact dimension. But what happens when we compare both and how different is the Miata from the Boxster? Mazda has just released an Infographic displaying a parallel between the cars and you can view it below. It gives a good comprehension of how the one is different from the other.

Of course, even without the image, the first thing that pops-up in mind is the pricing. There is huge price difference between those two. The Miata is actually more than 50% of the cost of the Porsche. However, the Mazda is also as capable as the Boxster and it covers more than 90% of its performance.

SEE ALSO: 2016 Mazda Miata MX-5 Comes With Upgraded Set of BOSE Audio System

In addition, both cars have a very similar 0 to 60 time, quarter mile times and braking distances. But while the new Miata has a smaller 2.0L 4-cylinder engine than the Boxster’s 2.7L flat six, it only trails the Boxster by 0.3 seconds in a race from 0-60. Even more, Miata beats the Boxster in terms of fuel economy.

Another advantage of the Mazda is the power to weight ratio. It is almost unbelievable that it is considerably higher than the Boxster (14.9:1 vs 10.9:1). Thanks to it, the Miata runs the quarter mile in 14.6 seconds, which is only 0.6 seconds slower than the Boxster.

SEE ALSO: Porsche Boxster and Cayman with new Engines In 2016

Surely, Porsche’s braking performance is superior. Boxster’s braking distance is evaluated from 70 to 0 (158 feet vs 145 feet). However, Miata’s curb weight is nearly 500lbs lower. This keeps the brake distance within 10% of the Porsche’s performance.

Well, Porsche is always a Porsche and when we buy one, we are always counting on the prestigious name and all that comes along with it. But we have to admit that Mazda has done something amazing with the 2016 Miata. In other words, the specialists have created a car that is very similar and even comparable to a much more expensive car like the Boxster. How cool is that?

Don’t forget to take a detailed look at the Infographic below. It gives a lot of insights for the similarities between both two models.

The 2016 Miata’s acoustics change its character significantly, depending on the roof position. What is the difference? When the top is down, the sound feels like the music is played live, which means, that in certain occasions the instrumental music can be lost in the mix, if mixed with ambient sounds. The speakers use the latest Bose digital technologies and as expected deliver the highest quality crystal-clear sound.  Something more: the speakers are especially designed to resist the breeze and ambient noises, when driving with roof-down.

Bose brings and additional surprises to customers, that include powerful bass woofer, 7-channel digital amplifier and additional speakers.
