The German tuners at Famous Parts have made this conversion on the famous SL500 particularly well. They gave the roadster a complete Prior Design wide body car body kit consisting of front and tail bumper, side sills, a new motor cowl, front mudguards and rear side wall widening.

Furthermore, the kit is complemented and rounded off by a facelift for the outer mirrors, new headlights and a rear spoiler. An in order to get in resonance with the wintter season, Famous Parts applied “white pearl matte metallic” film to the car body.

In addition, the serial ABC-chassis is lowered by an electronic module that also permits manual height adjustment. Type III FPX rims turn in the wheel box: 8.5×20 inch with 255/30R20 at the front and 11×20 inch with 295/25R20 Continental Sport Contact tyres at the rear.

An upgrade has also been applied to the exhaust system. Here we are speaking about the rear section of big brother SL63 AMG that has been attached to the original 500 tubes. • 2012 Graf Weckerle Mercedes-Benz SL 500 – Athletic Elegance Meets Maritime Attitude

2012 Graf Weckerle Mercedes-Benz SL 500 is a great example how exquisite and outstanding a car tuning might be. This Mercedes-Benz conveys entirely the competence and passion of the Graf Weckerle team when it comes to the absolute individual and classy refinement.

As an inspiration the tuners used the maritime theme for both the exterior and interior of the car. For instance many precious design details recite the sophisticated atmosphere found in marinas all over the world, giving the car an incomparable sporty and athletic yet noble appearance.

In order to bring the maritime design idea to life, the team decided to create a one-of-a-kind version of the Collection Sport forged performance wheels. A special white coating of the wheel disc was joined by polished aluminum wheel rims and chrome-plated wheel fasteners which match perfectly the polished wheel center cap.

Furthermore, the SL 500 was equipped with 9.0 x 20 inch wheels on the front axle and 10.5 x 20 inch on the rear axle. The tires fitted here are the 255/30 R 20 and 295/25 R 20 respectively.

In order to enhance the exterior of the German car they have finished it with a final maritime touch. This includes a hand-painted Graf Weckerle Coachline with an integrated Graf Weckerle brand logo. The color of the Coachline was navy blue.

Attention to the interior design has also been paid. It continues the maritime theme with the special leather color in navy blue. In fact, it covers almost the complete interior. The blue leather is further accented by contrasting white stitching and piping.

Graf Weckerle brand emblems have been additionally integrated into the original seat design. In fact, they were made of pure 750 white gold. To be more precise, the emblems were finished with white enamel which is carefully applied also by hand.

But this is not all that has been done on this 2012 SL 500. It was also equipped with progressive lowering coil springs which enhance both visual appearance and handling. An engine performance kit was included in order to optimize the performance of the car.

The new generation of the Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is all about lightness. May be you have no idea what the abbreviation “SL” stands for. Well, to answer thoe who still are wondering – it means “super-light”. Systematic weight reduction is one of the key structural design features of the new SL.

Furthermore, 2013 SL includes another debut: an all-aluminium body-in-white. Of course, all is done in the name of “lightness”. Combined with a host of other intelligent improvements to points of detail, this leads to an overall weight reduction of up to 140 kilograms in comparison to the predecessor model. What is more here is that the aluminium structure is also superior to the predecessor’s steel design in terms of rigidity, safety and comfort. Maybe this is one of the safest Roadsters in the world.

Moreover, the new SL-Class has high environmental compatibility: it reveals advantages over the previous model in all impact categories. Primary energy requirements have been reduced by 23% and NOx emissions by 16% over the entire life cycle. In addition, the new SL was built with higher percentage of high-quality recyclates and renewable raw materials. • The New 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL – Simply Better

2013-Mercedes-Benz-SL-thumbThe Mercedes SL. “Open top” immediately springs to mind. We tend to think of cabriolets as slow, wobbly and impracticable – a direct contradiction to what SL stands for. “Super Leicht“ or “Super Light” is the exact way where Mercedes are going with the new SL in town. Its more powerful, more economical, lighter and smarter.

The body is almost entirely made up of aluminum. The A pillars have some heavy duty steel in them but that’s understandable. The cover behind the fuel tank is from magnesium which is even lighter than aluminum. Compared to it’s predecessor, the new, longer and wider SL 350 weighs 140 kg less. That means more agility, better handling, better delivery of power and better economy. Most importantly, that diet does not compromise on rigidity, safety and comfort.

The all-new suspension set, which also has some bits and pieces in aluminum, is supposed to be comfortable yet up for occasional thrashing around the bends. Semi-adjusting damping control comes as standard but those who want even more flexibility can opt for the active suspension system ABC (Active Body Control). Either way, you are going to get some great feedback from the steering wheel as it uses an electromechanical Direct-Steer system which adjusts the firmness of the power steer in accordance with the current speed.

    Mercedes-Benz SL (2013)

For power, the SL 500 uses a 4663 cc V8 that is 0.8 liters smaller than the one in the fifth generation SL. Despite that, it develops 435 hp – 12 percent more power. It’s more economical as well. 22 percent more economical to be exact. In the mean time torque now, is not 530Nm but the staggering 700Nm. The engine in the SL 350 is still a 3499 cc V6 but it too is more powerful than before. 306 hp and 370Nm of torque drink up only 6.8 litres of fuel per 100km – 30 percent less than before. All those percentages seem overblown but when we inspect the tech under the bonnet, all seems plausible. The engines are from a line called BlueDIRECT and as we all know, blue is the new green. ECO start/stop systems come strictly with both engines. The 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission that crunches all that power is fully optimized with comfort and frugality in mind. That however, does not mean, in any way, power compromising: The SL 350 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds, making it three tenths of a second faster than its predecessor. The SL 500 takes just 4.6 seconds – eight tenths less than the previous SL 500.

The options list is admirably lengthy. Among the many extras, there’s this Magic Vision Control and Magic Sky Control. One makes your wipers sprinkle water and the other is basically a panoramic vario-roof that can go from opaque to transparent with the push of a button. Pretty neat stuff but people wont be piling up to see you in the car. They’ll want to see the car itself because its too damn pretty.
