Larte Design drove its Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal to Zollverein right from the Essen Motor Show. There, the tuner presented the recently-developed kit in its white splendor in front of German public for the very first time.

This full-size SUV receives such name because of the two dark crystals adorning the martial front bumper. In order to become even more exclusive, the white Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal arrives with extra Swarovski crystals that have the shape of skulls. With such additions, this Mercedes-Benz GL model turns into something really unique in the car tuning sector. After all, not every day you can see a vehicle that gets complimentary sparkles for further astonishment.

In order to improve the diesel engine, Larte Design has worked together with the professionals at Wetterauer. The result of their collaboration is pretty remarkable. After the refinements, the V6 diesel engine is able to pump out 290 HP (213 kW) and a maximum torque of 690 Nm (510 lb-ft), while the production version of the power unit delivers 258 HP (190 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft). Did you spot the differences?

With a completely re-designed front bumper that has a “crystalline” ornamentation and an aggressive geometry featuring prongs, edges, boomerang-formed components and air inlets, the car manages to make a very bold and striking impression. The attractive silhouette of the SUV is complimented by the matt-black carbon-lined tailpipes and the LED daytime running lights which are also very sporty.

Lastly, Larte Design Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal moves on forged, dark XXL 11 x 22-inch alloy wheels with angular double spokes.

Larte Design Mercedes GL Black Crystal Shows the Power of 290 Horses [VIDEO]

Do you remember Larte Design’s Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal? This beautifully customized vehicle is now the main star in tuning company’s movie “Black Crystal”. The stylish film is very unusual, because it features a fictitious point-to-point race between the polo horse Barraca and Larte’s GL Black Crystal. The video clip was shot on the Hovener Hof stud farm near Weilerswist in North Rhine, Westphalia.

Although the tuned Mercedes has more than 290 hp (213 kW) (the production output is 258 hp (190 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft)), the drivers were quite astonished how very agile and spontaneously speedy the horse was. At the same time, the horse fans found the visual refinement of the car quite compelling.

Vehicle’s name is inspired by the two giant crystals of sorts on the front apron. The tuning program here includes a very aggressive body kit as well as black 22’’ forged alloy wheels and a sonorous exhaust system.

The front guard is escutcheon-shaped and stretches along the entire height. It features LED daytime running light, jags, edges, boomerang-shaped elements, exposed-carbon inserts and a number of air inlets.

What is more, for additional sportier look and proportions, Larte has equipped the Mercedes-Benz GL with new aprons and mighty wing spacers at the rear and the front. The width of the car is additionally underscored by new side skirts and rear door beads. What is so striking here is the central, formula-1-type brake light and the 4-pipe carbon-coated stainless-steel exhaust system.

Larte Design Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal Is Big, Bold And Beautiful

Larte Design Mercedes-Benz GL Black Crystal is the latest project of the German based tuners. They have turned this GL into a big, bold and beautiful “Black Crystal”. The restyled full-size SUV, got an aggressive body kit, attractive alloy wheels and a sonorous exhaust system. More importantly, the specialists at Larte Design did an engine upgrade, thus giving the GL more power, that will perfectly complement its new appearance.

The completely re-designed front bumper has a “crystalline” ornamentation next to its aggressive geometry: the blazon-shaped front guard stretches over the entire height of the car. Two huge crystals, prongs, edges, boomerang-shaped elements, exposed carbon inserts and a number of air inlets add to its broad stance

Take a look at the striking LED daytime running lights. They were not only designed to add safety but also to light up the “Black Crystal” in a very tasteful manner. Big front and rear fender spacers, side skirts and rear door beads underscore car’s width and let the silhouette appear flatter and more dynamic.

Furthermore, Larte Design rear apron features details like exposed carbon inserts, a central formula-1-type brake light and a special Remus four-pipe stainless steel exhaust system. This Mercedes runs on forged, dark XXL 11 x 22’’ alloy wheels with angular double spokes.

At last, but not least, the tuners have improved the diesel engine of the SUV. For this purpose, they have worked closely with the team at Wetterauer. The result is that the V6 diesel unit now pumps out 290 hp (213 kW) and a top torque of 690 Nm (510 lb-ft). To make a comparison – the production version of the powerplantt delivers 258 hp (190 kW) and 620 Nm (458 lb-ft).

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL with market launch

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL is to be offered in three models: the GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC with V6 diesel engine, the V8 petrol-engined GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY, and the high-performance GL 63 AMG variant with V8 biturbo petrol engine. In addition, the standard equipment of the new GL Class is now further enhanced.

The luxury vehicles can be use for both on- and off-road and now include an extended range of standard equipment: electric sliding sunroof, electrically operated EASY-PACK tailgate, EASY ENTRY system for convenient access to the third row of seats from both sides, high-insulation windscreen or electromechanical steering.

In the interior, can be found the following standard equipment: colour screen with photo-realistic display and dashboard finished in ARTICO man-made leather.

2013 Mercedes-Benz GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC

Furthermore, the new Mercedes-Benz SUV vehicle has as a standard safety features the COLLISION PREVENTION ASSIST collision warning system and ATTENTION ASSIST drowsiness detection system. One of the new GL’s innovations and highlights is the standard-fit Crosswind Assist, which helps the driver by targeted brake actuation if the vehicle is affected by sudden crosswinds.

Moreover, the GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY adds to these safety features the Active Parking Assist including PARKTRONIC, the Intelligent Light System, the KEYLESS-GO access and drive authorisation system, 3-zone THERMOTRONIC automatic climate control and multicontour leather seats for driver and front passenger including massage function.

More importantly however are the new added engines which deliver better performance with increased output and torque, while at the same time enabling a reduction in consumption levels. As a result, the 190 kW (258 hp) GL 350 BlueTEC 4MATIC achieves an NEDC consumption of 7.4 l/100 km, the V8 petrol model, the GL 500 4MATIC BlueEFFICIENCY, produces 320 kW (435 hp) and has torque levels of 700 Nm while consuming just 11.3 l/100 km (NEDC).

The Nuremberg tuning specialists have developed a comprehensive program of components for upgrading this vehicle. The familiar sports-like elegance of the ART design offers this vehicle a host of customizing options. The ART Aerodynamics set for the front and rear lends a more muscular contour to the series lines. This piece of sculpted masculinity is made to look even mightier with the generously-proportioned air inlets and stretched surface area of the front spoiler.

The black background of the ART BiXENON Headlamp System NERO adds to the mighty appearance of this tremendous vehicle. A Triple Beam Lamp Set integrated in the front spoiler with additional XENON high beam lamps, DAYTIMELIGHT in LED technology and fog lamps in combination with CORNERLIGHT boosts the charisma of the vehicle’s front while providing the driver with that extra passive safety.

The rear apron with its integrated diffusor gives the rear of the vehicle a compact and homogeneous appearance. To get you ahead: The ART engine performance for CDI versions offers electronic performance optimization of the motor control. It squeezes around another 20% of speed out of those already powerful series engines. Performance optimization will be available soon for the V6 and V8 petrol engines.

The electronic ART powertrain system for the series Airmatic chassis lowers the vehicle height by 35mm and can be individually adjusted down to 70 mm. All other built-in chassis control functions remain unchanged. Only the speeddependent ride-height control is suppressed

For quality time in the rear passenger compartment, ART Multimedia offers the ultimate in hightech in-journey entertainment. A roof-suspended monitor 12.1 inches in size can be rotated 360 degrees. The integrated DVD player with SD card reader operates independently of the command system. Two infrared headphones provide top-quality sound in comfort and great freedom of movement.

The GL clad in the X64 program from ART is all in all a powerful piece of machinery, unadulaterated comfort and compact design in what is a wellproportioned departure from the series culture.
