  • Mercedes showcases new E-Class models

2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class As you might remember, back in 2016 Mercedes-Benz introduced new generation of E-Class vehicles that showcased new technical innovations, enhanced comfort features and revised drivetrain system achievements. And now, two years later the famous manufacturer unveils the 2019 models that would build on these achievements and would try to improve in any direction that was an issue for the 2016 editions.

The new models are E 450 and E 450 4MATIC. The first one, the E450 would benefit from completely new engine system, while the second one would offer some more aggressive and sportier feel. However, both vehicles will be equipped with a 3.0-liter V6 turbo that generates a total of 362 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. This is a bit more, compared to processor models and also there are some additional goodies. For example, updated safety systems and route-based speed adaptation.

  • DTE Systems uprates the SENT engine generation of Mercedes-Benz E220 d

DTE Systems Mercedes-Benz E220d front view

The tuning studio has developed PowerControl SNT unit which adds more power and torque

DTE Systems experts are good human beings, who have developed a new tuning box, named PowerControl SNT, raising the potential of the latest Mercedes E220 d. Under the hood is the four-cylinder diesel (W213), which has become more sporting and agile. But to go into details, the added power is 24 bhp and 49 Nm.

What does this mean? The 2.0 litre turbo-diesel engine in the E-class produces 194 hp and 400 Nm of torque, at its stock version. The chiptuning solution provided by DTE, not only ensures there are better driving dynamics and greater torque, but also excites with more dynamic traction and significantly enhanced agility.

SEE ALSO: Another BMW M235i Cabriolet Project Mightier than its Stock Brother

The Power Control SNT unit is responsible for all of this. It has Multi-Protocol technology, which helps in capturing both digital SENT signals as well as analog signals from the ECU. In addition, the engine parameters are precisely optimized based on RPM and engine load. Then, they are passed on to the engine management in real time. And this is how the Mercedes gets the addition of +24 bhp and +49 Nm, ensuing that there is a total of 218 bhp and 449 Nm of torque.

DTE Systems Mercedes-Benz E220d Dyno testing

PedalBox has another benefit and it is that with its characteristics, the accelerator pedal can be easily fine-tuned. This gives the sedan a serious sporting prowess. For instance, when in Sport and Sport+ mode, the Mercedes E 220 responds with greater direction to the driver’s commands on the throttle. On the other hand, the City mode is perfect for the traffic.

What else does this E-Class need in your opinion?

  • Cerberus is back! Meet the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet by MEC Design

MEC DESIGN Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet Cerberus front viewSomewhere in the past we have spoken about this project. Nevertheless, it comes stronger than ever with absolutely new pictures, which you can see and download (for free) from Automobilesreview gallery below. The changes added by the specialists at MED Design include a brand new body-kit as well as interior updates, worth writing about.

The stylish widebody kit catches the eye for sure. However, the car used as a basis the E-class A207 Cabriolet is pretty impressive to work on. To make it clear from the start, this project does not include any overboost of power, but features beautifying changes to the exterior and interior.

    Exterior

Beginning with the front, the tuners decided to make the Cerberus with menacing and almost intimidating appearance. The front is completed with a brand new bumper, which features huge air vents as well as a spoiler lip with air splitter. Continuing to the side, there we see in-house made side skirts, which have been equipped with LED lights to illuminate the ground below the vehicle in the dark. The massive wheel arches have been filled out with 20-inch Luxury Grey CCd5 three-piece alloys by MEC Design and then shod with 245/35ZR20 and 325/30ZR20 rubbers at the front and rear, respectively. The ride height has been lowered by the means of additional suspension kit.

The rear of the E-Class Cabriolet is now proud owner of a new bumper with integrated diffuser frames, four-pipe stainless-steel sports exhaust system from the “Earthquake” range.

    Interior

The changes throughout the cabin are not so elaborate, but they perfectly complement the fantastic work done by the professional tuning studio. Immediately grabbing the attention is the sport steering wheel Alcantara and black piano lacquer. Then we see the accents to the interior made by the addition of trim inserts finished in black piano lacquer. At last, a set of exclusive floor mats with Nubuck edging add the finishing touch.

  • Mercedes-Benz E-Class Scores Surprisingly Low CO2 Output

Mercedes-Benz E-Class Front ViewMercedes-Benz E-Class has been behaving very well lately, since it has scored an improvement of around one third of its CO2 output. The benefits for the environment are due to the numerous technical innovations, which literally make the newest E-Class the most intelligent executive saloon. The tests have been conducted by professionals from the South German Technical Inspection Authority, who have confirmed the exemplary LCA, and have given the E-Class an Environmental Certificate.

The analysis was conducted throughout their entire life cycle of the car, starting from production, through their long years of service, to the very end of their lives. The facts are the following: the E 220 d is achieving 3.9 litres per 100 kilometres fuel consumption and 102 grams of CO2 per kilometer.

SEE ALSO: Streets Await Their New King: The Almighty Mercedes-AMG E 43 4MATIC

Mercedes is explaining the phenomenon with the so called “intelligent package of measures”, including newly developed four-cylinder diesel engine, energy management, nine-speed automatic 9G-TRONIC transmission and great aerodynamics as well as reduced weight.

The emitted CO2 is measured not only during the driving process, but also during the manufacturing and recovery phase, making a life cycle comprise of material manufacturing, production, driving 250,000 kilometres and recycling. As a total, the experts calculated that for a single vehicle there are 36 tonnes of CO2 emissions produced. However, this is significantly less, when compared with 51 tonnes produced by its predecessor. In other words, these improvements are by 29 percent, while the energy savings are of up to 27 percent. This in turn corresponds to the energy content of around 6000 litres of diesel fuel.

Furthermore, the new E-Class has achieved recycling rate of 95 percent by weight. All in all, 72 components with a combined proportionate weight of 54.4 kilograms are made from high-quality recycled plastics, meaning that the mass of components made from secondary raw materials has been increased by 30 percent. In addition, 90 of the components with a combined weight of 33.1 kilograms are produced using natural materials.

It seems that Mercedes is making a huge leap forward to a sustainable green future. Let’s applaud!

And along with the premiere of countless technical additions the beautiful vehicle also offers and enhanced safety and utility features. For example, Mercedes now offers new dimensions and next-gen infotainment system, along with the optional AIR BODY CONTROL air suspension that ensures smooth and pleasurable drive. So, let’s check out what more this sweetie has to offer.

    Exterior design

    2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The new E-Class definitely looks beautiful, but also reminds that it has and aggressive spirit and uncompromising performance capabilities. Compared to previous models, this one has its wheelbase widened by 2.6 inches and is a bit longer: with a total of 1.7 inches. This extended and widened body is characterized by short overhangs, large wheels and defined flanks with fresh and dynamic interpretaition of the main line.

The front shows muscular components and overall aggressive visuals, which brings some overall changes to the business-class sedan. Along with the slightly restyled radiator grill, the star on the hood varies in terms of design for each individual models. For example, the Sport models will be recognized by the sportier radiator grille and a bit larger Mercedes star.

At the rear, the vehicle proudly demonstrates its wide shoulders, placed exactly on the top of the large wheels. The single-piece taillights also come with a two-bar design that clarifies the E-Class overall looks. Also, the rear lights provide that appealing stardust effect via the innovative reflector technology, which is especially developed for the E-Class lineup.

    Interior design

    2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

The interior embodies the intelligent, yet dramatic approach and of course, demonstrates this impeccable Mercedes-Benz definition: distinctive forms, premium materials and one-of-a-kind experience while on the run.

Now, the new E-Class offers a next-gen high-resolution display, a well-known gauge cluster behind the steering wheel. The touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel also make their first appearance in this model. Similar  to a smart phone interface the touch controls respont quickly and precisely to horizontal and vertical sweeps, allowing the driver to control the entire suite of infotainment features.

Further controls are provided by a touchpad with controller that can even recognize handwriting and voices. And for the air-conditioning system and other driver-assistance goodies there are buttons on the center stack.

    Drivetrain system

For the United States, the new E-Class will offer a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline power unit that produces a total of 241hp (177kW) and 273 lb-ft of torque. Later this year there will be more options and variants available.

What is special about the drivetrain system is the 9G-TRONIC nine-speed automatic gearbox as a standard feature. It is known for its fast and smooth gear shifts and for providing cruising on low engine revs which further enhances the efficiency and reduces interior noise levels.

SEE ALSO: Mercedes-Benz SLC Exclusively Gets a Stylish Night Pack

The suspension system also had its special attention and now offers highest levels of quality and comfort. The E-Class sedan comes with a steel-spring suspension with two DIRECT CONTROL systems with selective damping modes: Comfort, Sport and Air.

    Additional equipment

    2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Standard for the new E-Class is the PRE-SAFE audio system. It is based on a protective human reflex in the inner ear and emits short interference signal through vehicle’s 23 speakers if a possibility for a collision is detected.

The Active Brake Assist is also a part of the standard equipment and warns the driver for unpredictable crash situations and, if needed, engages the emergency brake system. In fact, it can also detect pedestrians that cross ahead of the vehicle.

Addition goodies come in the shape of ATTENTION ASSIST with adjustable sensitivity. This one warns the driver of inattentiveness and drowsiness, while the Crosswind Assist can deal with strong crosswinds and prevents the vehicle from drifting too far off the track.

    2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Also, new for the E-Class is the Remote Parking Pilot which allows the vehicle to be moved into and out of garages and parking spaces remotely by smart phone app. How cool is that?

Car-to-X is a mobile phone-supported information system that somehow allows driver to “see” what is going on in front of him or through obstacles in order to prevent collisions.

The PRE-SAFE is a system that is part of Driving Assistance pack PLUS. If there is a situation that will lead to imminent collision, this system is engaged and prevents driver and passenger away of danger zone. In order to do it, the system inflates an air chamber in the side bolster of the front backrest and in this way increases the distance between occupants and door.
2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class will be available in US in the summer of 2016.

  • Mercedes-Benz Reveals Inspired-by-the-Future Interior of the E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior First ImageThis is the interior of Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It seems that it has stepped into the future with its new design and numerous features and innovations included. Some of the cool equipment features are the 12.3 inch high-resolution next-generation dual display that appears to hover in space, the touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel, the intelligent graphic design with high-resolution visualizations and animations. Furthermore, the cabin is spacious enough and is wrapped in high-quality materials. But let’s check out the details.

    The Wide Dual Display

The wide dual display is definitely an eye-catcher. It is 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) big and has a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. It allows the driver to choose between three different styles to select their preferred screen design: “Classic”, “Sport” and “Progressive”.

SEE ALSO: E-Class Coupe and Cabrio Models Get Sweet Sport and V8 Upgrades

In addition, the E-Class combines two tube-type round dials and a 17.8 cm color display cluster with 1000 x 600-pixel resolution, with a central display with a 21.3 cm screen diagonal with 960 x 540-pixel resolution. The round dials, instrument cluster and central display are installed in a single frame with a high-gloss piano-lacquer look.

    The Touch Control

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior Second Image

Another innovation is the touch control buttons on the steering wheel. They respond precisely to horizontal and vertical finger swipes. This enables the driver to control every function of the infotainment system. Additional four buttons in each switch panel are there with their familiar functions, such as for volume control and telephone control.

Next, the touchpad on the centre console allows all functions to be controlled by single or multi-finger gestures. Three touch-sensitive buttons are arranged behind the touchpad and can be utilized to operate key functions quickly and directly.

    The Emotional Cabin

The new E-Class combines luxurious elegance and sportiness. The cabin is characterized by the interplay of strong solid bodies with sculptural surfaces and an avant-garde clarity and extensiveness of control and display zones. This makes the interior extremely emotional and reflects Mercedes-Benz design language called “Sensual Purity”.

Depending on the transmission, there are two differently designed centre consoles. The automatic transmission models have a straight-through centre console, with high connection to the cockpit by a control panel in a “Black Panel” glass look. Other controls, such as in the doors, also feature the “Black Panel” look. The manual transmission models are given a centre console in the form of two separate trim parts.

High-grade materials define the interior, including open-pore woods, wood in a yachting look with flowing lines, modern inlaid wood and a novel metal fabric. The doors are leather-covered as is the beltline for selected lines.

    Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior Third Image

Furthermore, the interior lighting makes exclusive use of durable, energy-saving LED technology. With 64 colors, it offers a host of possibilities for personalization and adds touches of light.

In addition, we have to say that the design of the seat is another benefit here. They create an ergonomic, sculptural impression with their torso form. They are differently designed depending on the line.

There are a lot of other cool features of the interior of the newest E-Class. This list includes 3D sound with concert hall experience, new optional LED High Performance headlamps that give the saloon a majestically focused look while featuring an unmistakable design, the high-resolution MULTIBEAM LED technology and the stardust effect created at the rear by the tail lamp in torch design.

We hope you enjoy the pictures of the interior below.

  • Vilner Recreates the Eternal Battle between BMW and Mercedes-Benz

Vilner has released an exclusive interior tuning of two of the most wanted premium cars: BMW and Mercedes-Benz. The eternal competition can be viewed below and it is up to you to decide which vehicle you like better! What is more, the battle is highlighted by two very symbolic colors: blue, which was chosen for the 5-Series, and red, which goes for the E-Class. This surely reminds us of other constant derby – this one between Chelsea and Arsenal soccer teams, or even between Pepsi and Coca-Cola. And if you are fan of the “Matrix” movie series, then you’ll definitely think of Neo’s dilemma between the blue or red pill.

The tuning of the BMW 5 Series includes a lot but discrete interior modifications. Precisely, the ceiling was covered with black Alcantara, while the plastic door handles received a special coating. In fact, everything is accentuated by a decorative blue stripe.

The blue theme continues with the seat belts, but above all, the most striking element of this tuning is the ergonomic steering wheel covered with perforated nappa leather and Alcantara. The blue pointer on it creates a straight line, while the M-Sport embroidery reminds us of the joy of driving a BMW.

The latest edition of Mercedes’ E-Class also grabs the attention. Here, Vilner’s therapy is accentuated by the red color. Again, the ceiling was wrapped in black Alcantara and the same treatment was applied on some parts of the seats. Everything is accentuated by a decorative red stripe.

The Bavarian rival shows-off with red seat belts and the AMG embroidery on the headrests of the front seats. The ergonomic steering wheel features perforated nappa leather and Alcantara in black, which is contrasted by a red pointer.

Which one is more aggressive? What do you choose?

  • Piecha Design And JMS Introduce Upgrade for Mercedes-Benz E-Class W212

JMS-Piecha-Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-GT-R-shadowJMS-Piecha-Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-GT-R-mediumA joint project between Piecha Design and JMS results in this Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It’s called the “E-Class GT-R” and it’s base is the pre-facelift W212 models.

What we have at hand here is a kit that comprises of a front piece with very design-specific “flicks” which accentuate the LED daytime running lights. Then there are the side skirts which are even compatible with the E63 AMG model. Last but not least: a Piecha rear port diffuser that can still accommodate the stock tow-bar (if necessary). For the AMG rear bumper, however, a different diffuser is available that fits all models until 04/2013. It comes complemented with double tailpipes in “rectangular trapezoidal” design.

As an option, Piecha are also offering a lowering module that overrides Mercedes’ Airmatic suspension and thus the user can set specific hights on both of the tracks. A power converter for a slight jolt in the engine bay is also available, but no words on the actual performance boost. The wheel selection includes 19-inch Piecha MP1s, MP2-Le-Mans, and the MP3-Dynamics

  • The 2015 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is Here

2015-Mercedes-Benz-C-Class-thumb2015-Mercedes-Benz-C-Class-mediumIt’s the new Mrecedes-Benz C-Class! You know, the one that’s supposed to be compact and more common-man oriented. Well, this here is a yet another departure from that idea.

The latest C-Class is longer and wider than its predecessor by 95 mm and 40 mm respectively. That’s 4686 mm in length from headlight to taillight and 1810 mm from side to side. The total increase in length is mainly due to the 80 mm longer wheelbase. That’s why there’s acres of leg-room inside for the rear passengers.

And while the dimensions go up, the overall weight goes down by as much as 100 kg. Extensive use of lightweight materials is to blame for that. Apparently, the use of aluminum, as compared to the older model structure, has gone up from 10 percent to 50 percent. The safety of the cabin has not really been sacrificed despite the diet. Besides, the chances of someone having a crash in it sounds seem to be pretty low. There’s a host of standard and optional automated systems like Attention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Collision Prevention Assist Plus (at up to speeds of 125 mph, it applies the brakes when there’s an estimated danger on the road and no response from the driver). If that’s not enough, there are also optional assists such as lane keeping, and another brake assist for even drowsier drivers we presume, and a follow-that-car mode with a Stop Go Pilot at speeds less than 37 mph.

Speaking of stopping and going, let’s not neglect the elephant(s) in the room .The C-Class will be initially available with three engine choices – one diesel and two petrols. The former is a C 220 BlueTEC 2.2-liter plant with 170 hp and 400 Nm in its pocket. The two petrols (C 180 and C 200), on the other hand, are 1.6 and 2.0-liters respectively and develop 156 and 184 hp again respectively.

A number of factors weigh in on the exquisite economy of all engines. All models have Mercedes’ ECO start/stop function, all are, as mentioned, significantly lighter than their forerunners, and all employ sophisticated technologies. The diesel boasts an economy of 70.6 mpg and 103 g/km of CO2 emissions partly due to a state-of-the-art common-rail direct injection setup, and a selective catalytic reduction system. The C 180 and C 220 are not bad either at 56.5 mpg and 53.3 mpg respectively.

Later in its life, the C-Class will also get a hybrid plant akin to the one found it the S and E-Classes – a C 300 BlueTEC HYBRID with a 204 + 27 hp diesel + electric motor that runs on 72.4 mpg. A plug-in hybrid is also to be expected

Depending on the installed output ratings, Mercedes-Benz is offering two new 6-speed stick versions. Then there’s the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic gearboxes which will offer the latest in environmental-friendliness, responsiveness and driving pleasure.

This being a Mercedes-Benz, one should also expect a superior suspension system. A front independent suspension boast a four-link setup provides more grip and higher lateral stability. Essentially, the driver is rewarded with more feedback from the steering wheel and a sporty feel. At the back, the optimized multi-link independent suspension ensures unsurpassed wheel location qualities and supreme straight-line stability.

Three DIRECT CONTROL suspensions with selective damping system are available in conjunction with this suspension:

    • a comfort suspension
    • a lowered comfort suspension with a sportier character
    • a sports suspension lowered by 15 mm

Optionally, for the first time in a C-Class, you can opt for the Mercedes-Benz AIRMATIC air suspension which is highly customizable and has optimum ride comfort on its mind.

Inside, one of the focal points of the C-Class is the HUD display that can even offer directions. Another focal point is the central display at the main console. It’s 7-inches diagonally or 8,4-inches if you go for the COMAND Online navigation option. From it you can access a plethora of software we haven’t even heard of. Just to get an idea of the level of smartness though, consider this: when the navigation foresees an incoming tunnel (which it naturally does), it turns on the air-circulation setting on its own so that you don’t inhale the sooty air that is usually present on such stretches.
