  • Cerberus is back! Meet the updated Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet by MEC Design

MEC DESIGN Mercedes-Benz E-Class Cabriolet Cerberus front viewSomewhere in the past we have spoken about this project. Nevertheless, it comes stronger than ever with absolutely new pictures, which you can see and download (for free) from Automobilesreview gallery below. The changes added by the specialists at MED Design include a brand new body-kit as well as interior updates, worth writing about.

The stylish widebody kit catches the eye for sure. However, the car used as a basis the E-class A207 Cabriolet is pretty impressive to work on. To make it clear from the start, this project does not include any overboost of power, but features beautifying changes to the exterior and interior.

    Exterior

Beginning with the front, the tuners decided to make the Cerberus with menacing and almost intimidating appearance. The front is completed with a brand new bumper, which features huge air vents as well as a spoiler lip with air splitter. For those wanting to “shine in the dark”, MEC Design have added LED daytime running lights.

The new front wings feature wide arch flares, while the bonnet now includes row of air vents along its sides. Continuing to the side, there we see in-house made side skirts, which have been equipped with LED lights to illuminate the ground below the vehicle in the dark. The massive wheel arches have been filled out with 20-inch Luxury Grey CCd5 three-piece alloys by MEC Design and then shod with 245/35ZR20 and 325/30ZR20 rubbers at the front and rear, respectively. The ride height has been lowered by the means of additional suspension kit.

The rear of the E-Class Cabriolet is now proud owner of a new bumper with integrated diffuser frames, four-pipe stainless-steel sports exhaust system from the “Earthquake” range.

    Interior

The changes throughout the cabin are not so elaborate, but they perfectly complement the fantastic work done by the professional tuning studio. Immediately grabbing the attention is the sport steering wheel Alcantara and black piano lacquer. Then we see the accents to the interior made by the addition of trim inserts finished in black piano lacquer. At last, a set of exclusive floor mats with Nubuck edging add the finishing touch.

  • Mercedes-Benz Reveals Inspired-by-the-Future Interior of the E-Class

Mercedes-Benz E-Class interior First ImageThis is the interior of Mercedes-Benz E-Class. It seems that it has stepped into the future with its new design and numerous features and innovations included. Some of the cool equipment features are the 12.3 inch high-resolution next-generation dual display that appears to hover in space, the touch-sensitive control buttons on the steering wheel, the intelligent graphic design with high-resolution visualizations and animations. Furthermore, the cabin is spacious enough and is wrapped in high-quality materials. But let’s check out the details.

    The Wide Dual Display

The wide dual display is definitely an eye-catcher. It is 12.3-inch (31.2 cm) big and has a resolution of 1920 x 720 pixels. It allows the driver to choose between three different styles to select their preferred screen design: “Classic”, “Sport” and “Progressive”.

In addition, the E-Class combines two tube-type round dials and a 17.8 cm color display cluster with 1000 x 600-pixel resolution, with a central display with a 21.3 cm screen diagonal with 960 x 540-pixel resolution. The round dials, instrument cluster and central display are installed in a single frame with a high-gloss piano-lacquer look.

    The Touch Control

Another innovation is the touch control buttons on the steering wheel. They respond precisely to horizontal and vertical finger swipes. This enables the driver to control every function of the infotainment system. Additional four buttons in each switch panel are there with their familiar functions, such as for volume control and telephone control.

Next, the touchpad on the centre console allows all functions to be controlled by single or multi-finger gestures. Three touch-sensitive buttons are arranged behind the touchpad and can be utilized to operate key functions quickly and directly.

    The Emotional Cabin

The new E-Class combines luxurious elegance and sportiness. The cabin is characterized by the interplay of strong solid bodies with sculptural surfaces and an avant-garde clarity and extensiveness of control and display zones. This makes the interior extremely emotional and reflects Mercedes-Benz design language called “Sensual Purity”.

Depending on the transmission, there are two differently designed centre consoles. The automatic transmission models have a straight-through centre console, with high connection to the cockpit by a control panel in a “Black Panel” glass look. Other controls, such as in the doors, also feature the “Black Panel” look. The manual transmission models are given a centre console in the form of two separate trim parts.

High-grade materials define the interior, including open-pore woods, wood in a yachting look with flowing lines, modern inlaid wood and a novel metal fabric. The doors are leather-covered as is the beltline for selected lines.

Furthermore, the interior lighting makes exclusive use of durable, energy-saving LED technology. With 64 colors, it offers a host of possibilities for personalization and adds touches of light.

In addition, we have to say that the design of the seat is another benefit here. They create an ergonomic, sculptural impression with their torso form. They are differently designed depending on the line.

There are a lot of other cool features of the interior of the newest E-Class. This list includes 3D sound with concert hall experience, new optional LED High Performance headlamps that give the saloon a majestically focused look while featuring an unmistakable design, the high-resolution MULTIBEAM LED technology and the stardust effect created at the rear by the tail lamp in torch design.

We hope you enjoy the pictures of the interior below.

2014-Mercedes-Benz-E-Class-Cabriolet-THUMBMercedes-Benz has just exclusively revealed its refreshed versions of the new 2014 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupe and Cabriolet. The completely revised models feature powerful and efficient BlueDIRECT four-cylinder engines with pioneering injection technology and trend-setting assistance systems.

They come under the name “Intelligent drive” and offer the driver the help to prevent accidents with crossing vehicles or pedestrians, Active Lane Keeping Assist or anti-glare, permanent high-beam headlamps, for example.

The main new design element of the facelifted versions is the revised front with new headlamps comprising a single headlamp lens over all functional elements. The headlamps are fitted with anti-dazzle LED lights.

Furthermore, the new front bumpers with a more pronounced V-shape and large air intakes are also a highlight here. The front has autonomous, sporty face, while at the same time emphasising the close affinity between the Coupé and Cabriolet.

In addition, the tail lamps and a wide-effect rear bumper with “wing design” and chrome-look are also new. They serve to underline the powerful and sporty appearance of these models. All in all, the exterior of this E-Claass retains the classic proportions.

The interiors of course have been also enhanced and improved so that they now deliver a greater comfort and luxurious feeling. The designers have used here stylish materials which dominate alongside clean-cut surfaces and the two-part trim which stretches across the entire dashboard. I

Additionally, it is also seeable that the center console is redesigned. Now it includes a selector lever, as well as a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel with Directt Select lever and shift paddles in conjunction with automatic transmission.

It is also important to mention a new feature in the cabriolet model, where an acoustic soft top is included. It has a high-grade insulation and ensures that even at high speeds, only very little wind noise is heard in the interior.

Next, lets review the security and safety features. Here are include the Stereo Multi-Purpose Camera in the vicinity of the rear-view mirror, which provides a three-dimensional view up to around 50 metres in front of the vehicle; Collision Prevention Assist – a radar-based collision warning system with adaptive brake assist systems; Attention Assist – informs the driver about their level of fatigue and the amount of driving time.

Not to mention the Distronic Plus that helps taking the burden off the driver when it comes to keeping the vehicle in its lane; the Brake Assist system Bas Plus with Junction Assist – detects crossing traffic and pedestrians and boost the braking power; PRE-SAFE® Brake which detects pedestrians and initiate autonomous braking to avoid a collision at speeds up to 31 mph; PRE-SAFE® PLUS, which recognises an imminent rear-end collision.

In addition, there is also the Active Lane Keeping Assist – it detects when the adjacent lane is occupied; Active Blind Spot Assist; Adaptive Highbeam Assist PLUS; Active Parking Assist; Traffic Sign Assist.

More importantly, the new E-Clas Coupe and Cabrio can be equipped with wide choice of powerful petrol and diesel engines. All are highly efficient and equipped with the ECO start/stop system. In the beginning there will be petrol engines available: the E 200 BlueEFFICIENCY and E 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, and three diesel engines: the E 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, E 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY and E 350 BlueTEC.

Here what is new is the BlueDIRECT four-cylinder petrol engine with spray-guided direct injection. It includes fast-acting piezo injectors for multiple injection, quick multi-spark ignition, turbocharging, fully variable camshaft adjustment on the inlet and exhaust side, as well as a controlled oil pump.

The engines will mated with either a six-speed manual transmission with high ease of shifting and short shift travel, and the 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission with DIRECT SELECT lever and DIRECT SELECT shift paddles.

At last, in terms of suspension, these Mercedes-Benz models are fitted with the Agility Control with selective damping system. The shock absorbers adapt to road surface conditions, and in this way it ensures a high level of ride comfort. Sporty handling is enabled while still delivering the comfort on long journeys that is typical of the brand.

In addition, the E-Class models will be equipped with the electromechanical Direct-Steer system as standard.
