  • M&D Designs Camouflaged Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth

2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Side ViewM&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth is a fresh project in midst of the Geneva Motor Show turmoil. The ‘Stealth’ CLS is dressed in camouflage colours, but this isn’t its only asset. It features also a lot more power than its standard one, and one-off optic exterior kit coming directly from Prior-Design.

    Exterior Tweaks

Speaking of the exterior tuning, it was the first to be “added” to this ‘Stealth’ project. The body kit included here is called PD550 Black Edition and comprises of a new front bumper that features CLS 63 AMG driving lights, new air intakes, front wings, side skirts, rear bumper with integrated diffuser and a bootlid spoiler.

SEE ALSO: BMW M6 GT3 Street Legal Doppelganger by M&D. Yes, it exists!

Immediately grabbing the attention is the bespoke foil wrap finish that mimics the US military style. The ‘Stealth’ wrapping uses a matt white base, on top of which angular elements in Matt Charcoal and Matt Black are combined to form an effective Urban Camouflage. A low-key effect is achieved via bright orange accents, which come out from the monochromatic background.

2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Side and Rear View

So far, so good. At the rear we see that the diffuser is flanked by the quad exhaust tailpipes that were taken directly from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series and come in black powder coat. They are also attached to the custom OE exhaust system. And by the way, the V8 sound that comes out from the Black Series tailpipes originates from the bi-turbo 4.7 litre unit with its two-tone engine cover in graphite grey and Lamborghini Orange metallic.

    Engine ECU Boost

Custom ECU tuning by M & D was given to the powerplant and the results are impressive. The stock 408 hp (306 kW) output was raised to 498 hp (366 kW), while the torque jumped from 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) to around 740 Nm (546 lb-ft). The top speed limiter was also removed and now exceeds the factory 250 km/h.

    Wheels & Suspension

    2016 M&D Mercedes-Benz CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth Wheels

Filling out the arches of the special CLS 500 Black Edition Stealth are the in-house made two-piece Rennen Forged RL17 forged alloys that come in size of 20-inches. They are shod with 245/30R20 and 295/25R20 Hankook Ventus S1 Evo tyres. The rim surface of the wheels features a brushed alloy texture with a unique ‘Smoke’ paint finish. Behind the wheels spokes appear huge Brembo brake calipers painted Lamborghini metallic orange.  At last, M&D’s Airmatic suspension electronic lowering module rounds out this truly unique project.

  • BMW, Audi and Mercedes Benefit from AEZ Straight

AEZ have released their latest alloy wheels, dubbed Straight. The manufacturer mixes exclusive two-color design with uncompromising quality in order to craft out one of its best products ever!

On the familiar BMW M4 we can see something less familiar which turns the vehicle into an automotive weapon loaded with additional complimentary style and presence. The new AEZ Straight borrows its name from the game of poker and successfully manages to transforms “any car into a jackpot.”

Exhibiting strong effectiveness produced by the interaction between dark and polished surfaces, the 10-spoke layout puts emphasis on the most distinguishable and key aspects of a certain model. Thanks to the fashionable look carried by Straight, Audi, BMW and Mercedes cars are given an opportunity to enhance their appearance and stance. For instance, the alloys are able to underscore the best of the sporty and aggressive character of the A4, A5 or A6 models, while underlining the confident stance of the 3, 4, or 5 BMW and adorning the dynamic nature of the Mercedes-Benz CLS, C- and E-class automobiles.

Having a few more aces up their sleeves, the AEZ designers made the Straight alloy wheels more flexible and gave them one-sided accompanying edges which lend the struts more asymmetrical appearance for bigger visual excitement.

Finally, the wheel set in question comes in sizes 5×17, 8,0×18 (4 holes) and 7,5×17, 8,0×18, 8,5×19, 9,5×19, 8,5×20, 9,5×20 (5 holes). What is more, “with its ten spokes, eight dimensions and three color variants, it reaches Black Jack’s 21!”

There is a second diesel model, powered by a six-cylinder 350 BlueTEC engine, which delivers 258 hp (190 kW) and emits 142 g/km of CO2. For the firs time this engine is coupled with a nine-speed transmission as a standard.

Next, the petrol V6 powerplant powers the CLS 400 Coupe and delivers 333 hp (245 kW). At the top of the range stands the CLS 63 AMG S, which is capable of generating 585 hp (430 kW) and 800 Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. The powerful model is equipped with a limited slip differential and can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1-seconds.

There are many upgrades in the range that are coming as a standard: COMAND Online, heated front seats and the ambient interior lighting system. Mercedes-Benz is offering two option packages. • Prior Design Widebody For The W219 Mercedes-Benz CLS

PD-Black-Edition-Widebody-Mrecedes-Benz-CLS-W219-shadowPD-Black-Edition-Widebody-Mrecedes-Benz-CLS-W219-mediumPrior Design are back with…an old-ish Mercedes-Benz CLS? The W219 went out of production almost 4 years ago to make way for the future. Apparently, however, it still makes sense for Prior to be releasing “widebody” kits for them.

And this one here takes the cake for ostentatiousness – dark coppery paint job with eye-blindingly red lines on the sides, company decals, and tires bigger than the rings of Saturn. And that’s not even counting the flaring wheel arches.

Yes, both of the front fenders have been replaced while the rear ones have received a noticible widening. There’s also a Prior front bumper and one at the back as well. The side skirts are also new and apparently there’s an add-on piece for the hood. In other words, the same old Prior story: expensive plastic bits (okay, “dura-flex fiber reinforced plastic” bits). That will be $8,000, please

Still, quite the shocker, isn’t he?

  • Crown Jewel for Mercedes-Benz CL, CLS and SL from PP Exclusive

PP-Mercedes-Benz-CL-THUMBPP Exclusive created a massive and bulky design of the crown jewel alloy wheel rims for the Mercedes-Benz model series. The refitted CL of the construction series C216 with a 21-inch diameter rim now revolves in the wheel houses of the grand coupé and it does this for the first time.

Furthermore, the rim is an absolute custom-made product. The wheel was built on the front axle in 10.5 x 21 inches with a 4-inch outer rim and comes in combination with Michelin tires of the format 265/30R21. The crown jewel alloy wheel rims revolve in the rear axle in 12 x 21 inches with a 5-inch outer rim and tires of the format 305/25R21.

PP Exclusive offers lowering of the CL. This was done with the utilization of the lowering module that was so effortlessly installed through the plug-and-play method. Moreover, the lowering can be individually adjusted through the steering wheel buttons.

The same crown jewel wheel is also available for CLS C218. This time for the front is used 10.0 x 20 inches with a 3.5-inch rim and 12.0 x 20 inches with a 5.5-inch rim in the rear. PP Exclusive opted for the tires Hankook-Pneus in the formats 255/30R20 and 305/25R20.

In addition, the vehicle is also lowered to the ground with the help of the same lowering module. The SL of the construction series R230 is also fitted with the crown jewel rims and Hankook tires of the same dimensions.

  • The Temptation of Vilner Mercedes-Benz CLS

Vilner-Mercedes-Benz-CLS-THUMBThe latest astonishing transformation that the Bulgarian tuners from Vilner have made is on the emblematic Mercedes-Benz model CLS. Having in mind what we have seen so far from them, and particularly the great work and craftsmanship they implement on any model, we are to see here another one-of-a-kind vehicle.

The transformation concerns not only the interior, but the exterior as well. Starting with the exterior grille, going through the taillights the great work passes on the interior, where the true power of these talented tuners lies.

In fact, there is no single visible plastic left in the interior. They haven’t spared even the rearview mirror. Sun visors and steering wheel airbag are clad in Alcantara, and seatbelts are replaced with new red ones. Great work isn’t it!

  • 2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake Pricing Announced

Mercedes-Benz-CLS-Shooting-Brake-THUMB2013 Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake is the next innovative luxury vehicle from the brand, which combines the proportions of the five-door coupe and a roof which continues through to the rear.

The new Shooting Brake is currently making its debut and at the same time is available to order. According to Mercedes-Benz this model has the potential to become the icon for a new market segment.

What is very special of this vehicle and grabs the attention immediately is the extravagant and unique designo wooden luggage compartment floor, which serves to underscore the hand-finished nature of the interior.

  • Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake combines practicality and elegance

Mercedes-Benz-CLS-Shooting-Brake-THUMBMercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake is the new AMG high-performance vehicle, which combines performance with style and practicality in a completely new way. It comes euipped with 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine with a power output range of from 386 kW (525 hp) to 410 kW (557 hp), the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission and the AMG RIDE CONTROL sports suspension.

On the other hand the generous interior and luggage compartment with a volume of up to 1550 liters reveal the practical sides of this Mercedes-Benz model. And as a truly exceptional offering there is also the time-limited CLS 63 AMG Shooting Brake “Edition 1” which adds further 24 kW (32 hp) of power and 100 Nm of torque.

The AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine has the ability to combine direct petrol injection with spray-guided combustion, piezo injectors, biturbocharging, air/water intercooling, generator management and ECO start/stop function. This undoubtedly will reveal some of its unique features.

It has a power output and torque levels of 386 kW (525 hp) and 700 Nm respectively. In conjunction with the Edition 1 these figures are enhanced up to 410 kW (557 hp) and 800 Nm.

The first one accelerates from zero to 100 km/h for 4.4 seconds, while the second one for a second less. The top speed of both is 250 km/h (electronically limited).

Despite the great power output the consumption figures remain low. Fuel consumption of 10.1 litres per 100 kilometres (NEDC) corresponds to a CO2 output of 235 g/km and is identical for both power units.

  • Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

Mercedes-Benz-CLS-Shooting-Brake-thumbIt’s common knowledge that nowadays, car makers are trying to dominate every segment out there. But some companies are now even changing the rules. With no fields left for dominance, Mercedes-Benz set out to create new categories. The CLS serves to prove that point – a four door coupe. Are you ready for the next step? The Mrecedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake (see concept) – a five-door, estate coupe. Sound’s ridiculous right? But it looks just as good as it is mad.

It may not be a full blown estate but it is actually bigger than the current E-Class wagon. Still, boot space at the back is inferior to the one of the E-Class, but you can opt to have it all covered in a cherry tree wooden trim… which will not help at all in terms of practically bit it will “underscore the hand-finished nature of the interior”. Most of all, by doing so, you won’t put much strain on the engine since the Shooting Brake engineers have kept it light by installing frameless, completely aluminum doors which are 24 kg lighter than they would be if steel was used. The tailgate, hood, front fenders and other elements of the suspension and engine are aluminum as well.

    Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake
    Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake

Another coupe feature of the CLS Shooting Brake is it’s shape. Besides soothing the eye, the design also has an aerodynamic perk – a Cd value figure of 0.29. Good news then for the efficiently oriented engine options. Two diesels: One being a four cylinder and the other, a CLS 350 CDI 3.0-liter V6 that develops 265 bhp and returns 47 mpg . Zero to sixty acceleration for that latter one takes 6.6 seconds while the top speed is limited at 155 mph. Both of the engines make use of a 7G-TRONIC PLUS automatic transmission and both have an ECO start/stop system as standard. Another feature that increases the distance between gas station stops is the Electric Power Steering system which is also said to be superior in feedback.

No word on the pricing but our guess is that the end figure will be perfectly sensible with traces of lunacy and dynamism. When AMG get their hands on a CLS Shooting Brake expect full on lunacy and dynamism.

  • Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe

Mercedes-Benz-CSC-thumbIsn’t that a looker?! It’s the latest concept-to-be-reality thing from Mercedes-Benz. At the moment it’s called the Concept Style Coupé (CSC) and it looks like the love child of a CLS and an A-Class if they were ever to mate. Sleek and curvy, this fluidic piece of art is to be exhibited next week at the Beijing Motor Show as it makes its world debut. It’s smart as well, no doubt, with Mercedes’ latest turbocharged four-cylinder petrol unit, a 4MATIC drive and a set of fancy blinkers…apparently.

Let’s start off with the exterior, shall we? It certainly has the face of an A-class (the latest one) with that dotted grille. Then again, with a length of 4637 mm, it is almost as long as the current CLS (give it or take 300 mm). And that slopey profile is rather unmistakable – it has “four-door coupe” all over it. There’s a glass roof at the top which is only separated from the rear window by a roll-bar-like beam. The 21-inch wheels on the CSC are meant to look like turbines and supposedly, they do channel air to those massive disk brakes. Then there are the headlights – even when they are off, a red glare throws daggers at you in a particularity devilish manner. The indicators resemble a set of LEDs that light up in succession much like the ones you find on an airstrip.

    Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe
    Mercedes-Benz Concept Style Coupe

Inside, things are just as Mercedish – a blend of leather and Alcantra wrap around you with an ergonomic nature. The carbon-trimmed dashboard is meant to represent a wingspan while the air vents on it use a jet engine for inspiration (quite a lot of aircraft themes so far). There’s a light behind each one of them so they tend to change their color, depending on the temperature of the air that’s being thrown at your face – red suggests scorching hot, blue offers Arctic whirlwinds and yellow indicates a mildly breeze (we just like to think so). The neon green lining touch is rather neat as well – it gives you that sporty training shoe feel. Computer buffs will love this as well – the car’s COMAND Online gives you access to the world wide web at all times and that the software (all the apps and interface) is hosted directly at Dimler’s. That way you can get the most current updates “over-the-air” (OTA) through, let’s say, a mobile phone connection.

But enough about silly stuff. Let’s talk numbers and fumes… which aren’t that much. Sure, 211 bhp sound reasonable enough. But we suspect that an engine, normally found in the A-Class, won’t be at it’s best in the CSC (remember that the world wide web is in it?). Still, a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder top of the range engine (from that family), mated to a 4MATIC all-wheel drive system and a 7G-DCT dual clutch automatic transmission sounds like a nimble setup. It might just be for show, something to put inside this gorgeous body for the time being. When can we expect a production version? Next year, the year after that? We don’t know.
