  • BBR Launces Upgrade and Tweak Packages For Mazda3

Mazda performance specialists at BBR are proud to demonstrate the two stages of powerplant upgrades for the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G versions for the Mazda 3.

The result of almost a year of experiments and in-house testing, demonstrated that the 2.0-Skyactiv-G tuning program has successfully removed the vital electronic and mechanical restrictions on 120, 145 and 165 hp (88, 106 and 121 kW) versions for Mazda 3 /6, CX-3 and CX-5. This all means that the Mazda engineering team unleashed the full force of the latest direct-injection powerplant. So, let’s see what the results are.

    BBR Super 170

The entry level upgrade comes with BBR’s special Starchip ECU software which contributes for fuel and ignition calibration. This all means that the overall performance benefits in numerous ways, only one of which is the restriction from the 120 hp (88 kW).

The gains from the 2.0-liter Skyactive-G are now mostly noticeable from 4,000 rpm upwards for nicely beneficial 136 hp on BBR’s chassis dyno which culminates in a peak output of 169 hp (124 kW) at 6,300 rpm. Cool, right?

    BBR Super 185

With this upgrade BBR goes for even more performance upgrades. Designed to optimize the exhaust technology, incorporated in the 2.0-liter Skyactiv-G motor, BBR’s tweaks feature a 4-2-1 configuration to enhance the flexibility and dynamics of the engine and its maximum torque levels.

And now the revised engine, along with BBR’s Starchip ECU calibration the peak power increases to 185 hp at 6,300 rpm. In addition the 2.0-liter Skyactic-G ‘s torque levels rise with a total of 173 lb.ft at 4,000 rpm and over 150 lb. ft between 3,000 and 6,500rpm.

    BBR Mazda 3 Dynamic upgrades

BBR has also launched a portfolio of upgrades for the 2014 onwards Mazda3 2.0-liter Skyactive-G lineup. Sourced from top quality suppliers and delivering additional driving pleasure, BBR showed numerous details for Sport lowering springs and full geometry setup.

  • 2016 Mazda3: Too Good to be True or Good Enough for the Price

2016 Mazda32016 Mazda3 and all it has to offer. Now, one of the most popular vehicle brands with one of its most popular models released detailed information about what will owners get for the upcoming 2016 model. As always Mazda offers high quality, versatility and good price. Or maybe it is just one more annoying marketing strategy? Decide for yourself.

    2016 Mazda3 and its offering

So, let’s start with the drivetrain system. Mazda3 will be available with two optional powerplants. The first is a 155 hp (113kW) SKYACTIV-G 2.0-liter machine and the second is a 184 hp (135kW) SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter. We have already told you about the SKYACTIV powerplants, but the G-Series is still to be tested. Furthermore, both engines will be paired to a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. It’s a good thing, that Mazda team offers such a wide choice.

    2016 Mazda3

And one more thing. The Mazda team promises to equip the vehicle with premium features and high-quality elements. There will be some goodies like adaptive high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights and Mazda Radar Cruise Control. Oh, yeah. I almost forgot about KODO: Soul of Motion design.

The only thing we fear is what will happen to the overall quality with all these numerous features and that nice price. We know Mazda for its high-quality components, but we also known, that there are surprises, waiting in every corner.

So, let’s continue with the goodies. All 2016 Mazda3 models will include backup camera, which is only the beginning of what the standard equipment has to offer. Furthermore, it also offers power windows, power door locks, 16-inch steel wheels, automatic folding mirrors, adjustable steering wheel and air conditioning.

    Additional Mazda3 trims and packs

For the upcoming 2016 lineup there is a special Preferred Equipment pack, that grants owners with 16-inch alloy wheels, bright beltline trim, premium cloth-trimmed seats, Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA)

Mazda3 Touring Pack, on the other hand offers 16-inch aluminum alloy wheels, fog lights, BSM, RCTA, Mazda Advanced Keyless Entry, moonroof, automatic headlights, shift knob and three-spoke steering wheel with contrast stitching. But it gets even better. Wait and see!

    2016 Mazda3

2016 Mazda3 Touring Popular trim offers auto-dimming interior mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, Bose nine-speaker surround system, Centerpoint 2, AutoPilot 2, SiriusXM satellite radio and a CD-player. I have only one question. With all these high-tech radio systems and internet connections, why do you need a CD-player? However, the more is better. Or at least we hope so.

2016 Mazda3 will also be offered with Grand Touring Pack, that grants owners with leatherette seating, navigation system, heated seats, xenon HID headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

Furthermore, the pack also includes i-ELOOP, the special system, that captures kinetic energy, and the full suite of i-ACTIVSENSE, which includes: Mazda Radar Cruise Contro, Smart City Brake Support, High Beam Control, Lane Departure Warning System and Forward Obstruction Warning.

So, what else can we say about 2016 Mazda3? It looks good at first sight (just look at it) and promises some wonderful features. Hopefully every single promise for quality and functionality will happen to be true.

As a basis were used 2014 Mazda3 and Mazda6 vehicles, which were refreshed in terms of design and performance.

Both a Mazda3 and Mazda6 were given “Club Sport” treatment. The general theme is a motorsports-inspired motif of neutral grays, blacks and reds. This includes Mazda Design-exclusive Composite Grey finish and Brilliant Black rooftop.

The Club Sport 6 Concept is equipped with a 14.0:1 low-compression SKYACTIV-D 2.2-liter clean diesel engine, which produces 175 horsepower (129 kW) at 4,500 rpm and 420 Nm (310 lb-ft) of torque at 2,000 rpm.

The exterior paint is adorned with custom Club Sport graphics that include varying line frequency and width to create a sense of motion. Front, rear and side diffusers, and rear spoiler were also installed as a part of Mazda Design custom accessory aero kit. They were decided in a contrasting Brilliant Black gloss.

The Club Sport 6 vehicle runs on Rays 57 Motorsport G07FXX 20-inch Black and Machining-colored 10-spoke wheels coupled with sticky Yokohama S.drive 245/35R20 tires. New suspension is also at hand – H&R spring kit, while custom Brembo two-piece, six-piston 380×32 drilled brake rotors and a Racing Beat exhaust round out the entire sports-treatment.

Next, the Mazda Club Sport 3 Concept’s design is very similar to the previous one, but has a few extra robust features. Its exterior is decided in Slate White exterior finish, complemented by Metallic Silver lines that trace along the arches of the wheels, the base of the side skirts and the contours of the doors and C-pillars.

Contrasting texture and dynamic flow is delivered by the Vibrant Red vinyl which follows along with thin lines. Left unpainted are the dramatic alpha and numeric Black vinyl call-outs of the fuel door, tire size and SKYACTIV1 TECHNOLOGY pronounced across the hood.

Here was also used the aero kit which features Brilliant Black front, rear and side diffusers as well as a new rear spoiler style. The vehicle hides under its hood is SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter gasoline engine, coupled with tuned SKYACTIV-Drive six-speed manual transmission.

This Mazda runs on Rays 57 Motorsport G07FXX 20-inch Black and Machining-colored 10-spoke wheels wrapped in Bridgestone Potenza RE-11 235/35R19 road-gripping performance tires.

The interior of the car features Red aniline leather treatment throughout – seat trim, door panel inserts, center console, IP decor and a steering wheel stripe. The steering wheel, arm rest, emergency brake and shifter boot are wrapped in Premium Black leather to make the perfect contrast.

Moreover, the front seats include perforated leather within the seat bolsters with a diffusing line pattern in the seat back creating a “3,” identical to the Metallic Silver numeral painted onto the vehicle’s driver’s side door.

The exterior paint finish is Ceramic White littered with Taupe Silver accent stripes. The vehicle’s matte white finish was achieved via the utilization of a base metallic followed by a satin quality clear paint.

The exquisite Ceramic 6 rides on Rays Volk Racing Original G25 10-spoke, 20-inch wheels finished in Taupe Silver. Additional performance accessories include an H&R spring kit, a Racing Beat custom dual-exhaust and custom Brembo two-piece, six-piston 380×32 drilled rotors.

Accents are provided via metallic details. In addition, the steering wheel also includes Light White Momo-style stitching and it is finished with a matching leather strip at the high-noon position.

The front and rear seat inserts include interwoven light and dark White leather. At the same time, the hand-sewn Burgundy stitching additionally highlights the dynamic contrasting design. • 2014 Mazda3 – Improved Design and Fuel Efficiency

Mazda has officially unveiled the 2014 Mazda3 looking quite sleek and sporty. The model boasts Kobo design philosophy which has already been used on the CX-5 and Mazda6.

Lower and leaner than its predecessor, this third generation Mazda3 shares almost nothing with its older siblings other than a name. All new from the ground up, the 2014 Mazda3 sits on a wheelbase of 106.3 inches, which is 2.4 inches longer than the previous generation, yet the hatchback is 1.8 inches shorter in length at 175.6 inches. With a height of 57.3 inches and a width of 70.7 inches, the Mazda3 reduces its ceiling by 0.6 inches and gains 1.6 inches in the hips while retaining similar headroom space and offering rear legroom at 35.8 inches. The rear seatbacks are nearly 2.0 inches taller for added passenger comfort. Front and rear shoulder room also has increased to 57.2 and 54.4 inches, respectively. This efficient use of space is wrapped in the increasingly striking dimensions of KODO, Mazda’s “Soul of Motion” approach to designs that exude emotional proportions and refined strength.

The interior boasts higher quality materials and improved design. There are new instrument cluster, satin chrome trim, piano black accents and more comfortable seats which can be upholstered in cloth, leatherette or leather.

Other interior highlights include a new infotainment system with Bluetooth/USB/AUX connectivity as well as the ability to access the internet via a smartphone.

  • Mazda3 MPS by MR Car Design

MR-Car-Design-Mazda3-MPS-THUMBMR Car Design Mazda3 MPS exudes power and attitude. Mazda3 MPS is originally being one of the most powerful series production vehicles with front wheel drive. Here however, we have an aim which successfully has given this vehicle even more strength in horsepower.

The people responsible for that are the specialists from MR Car Design. They have taken this hard task to give the sporting dynamicist even more power. Originally the Mazda is equipped with 2.3 L engine, which includes turbo support.

This means that the vehicle can generate 260 hp (191 kW) and has a maximum torque of 380 Nm (280 lb-ft) at 3,000 r / min. The crew from MR Car Design gave the engine boost in terms of performance via software. Thanks to that the car is able to produce 310 horsepower (228 kW).

  • Mazda6 Teaser [VIDEO]

2014-Mazda6-Teaser-thumbThere are already two teaser videos in the USA Mazda YouTube channel that concern the 2014 Mazda6 mid-sized sedan. They promise us a deeply stated “re-imagination”. We can see some creases and curves but that’s not yet the big picture so to speak, as more shortish and croppy videos will be fed through the month.

Mazda say that the fascia seen in one of the videos does have the TAKERI DNA in it but they also stress out that its not a concept thing thus it’s more functional, logical and real. The grill for example, also has some KODO “Soul of Motion” design ques . It all sounds very exotic and alluring but let’s not stray away from the point.

    Mazda6 (2014)
    Mazda6 (2014)

The 2014 Mazda6 will be the company’s second vehicles that will make do with the ever so popular SKYACTIV TECHNOLOGY. It’s a realm of Mazda philosophy that engulfs everything from the materials that are used in the assembly to the very structure of the car. What the end result should yield is fuel-efficiency that goes alongside performance, dynamism and safety. The first car to showcase some SKYACTIV components was the 2012 Mazda3 thanks to it’s SKYACTIV 2.0 petrol engine and the subsequent available transmissions. The 2013 CX-5 however was the first full-blown SKYACTIV car that added some body and chassis components to the technology line.

The new 2014 Mazda6 should do no less and it is expected to go on sale in early 2013.

  • 2012 Mazda3 shows outstanding fuel-consumption figures

2012-Mazda3-THUMB2012 Mazda3 has achieved amazing result on the latest EcoTest from the German Automobile Club (ADAC). What they determined is that the 2012 Mazda3 1.6-litre petrol with 77 kW/105 PS was the only car of the eight tested models which used less fuel than the official average published by the manufacturer. In addition, what amazed the professionals was the fact that instead of an average fuel-consumption of 6.4 litres (the official numbers given by Mazda), Mazda3 1.6-litre showed on the stricter EcoTest just 6.3 litres per 100/km. Moreover, all other models that were tested, including vehicles with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains, were times above their officially published average for fuel consumption. Germany’s ADAC EcoTest measures fuel consumption, CO2 and toxic emissions using new and stricter criteria. And theses criteria now include NEFC measurements, test using the world cycle or WLTP, and the Autobahn driving cycle test from ADAC itself. In particular, the latter one features driving at highway speeds of 130 km/h and full-throttle acceleration. Additionally, all three cycles were measured with low-beam headlights on, and on the world and gighway test with the air conditioning on.
