  • DMC Maserati Gran Turismo Sovrano Delivers Luxury and Power

DMC-Maserati-Gran-Turismo-Sovrano-THUMBDMC Maserati Gran Turismo Sovrano is one of the best looking tunings I’ve seen recently. The reason for this is not only its goldish exterior color, but because the German tuner DMC included in it an engine and suspension upgrade, new rims and several carbon fiber exterior parts.

But let’s go further into details a see what exactly has been done on this Maserati. On the front fascia, the newly designed front bumper gives and the new spoiler lip enhance the appearance as well as the aerodynamics of the GT, increasing downforce on the front axle.

Additional air inlets and outlets were added to the new light-construction bonnet. In addition, interesting facts are that the wide body side skirts have zig-zag end-panels, while the trunk spoiler and a new rear diffuser round-off the back of the car.

It’s not a contemporary tuning, if it doesn’t include carbon fibre. All add-on parts were made from this material and were manufactured by DMC using autoclave prepreg vacuum processing.

The optical appearance also includes a sport suspension for the front and rear axles, which lowers the vehicle’s center of gravity by around 30 millimetres. The Gran Tourismo runs on 255/30 R 20 front tyres and 305/30 R 21 wheels at the back.

More importantly, some modifications have been done under the hood. The 4.7 liter V8 engine is now more potent thanks to a supercharger that is driven using a cogged-tooth belt. This means that the vehicle adds an additional 150 hp (110 kW) and 82 Nm (61 lb-ft), resulting in a total of 590 hp (434 kW) at 7,300rpm and 472Nm (348 lb-ft) of torque at 5,400rpm.

The tuners didn’t forget the interior. There, they have used leather with a chequered stitch and plenty of Carbon Fiber. The aluminium pedals and new ergonomically designed sporty steering wheel are parts added to the setup.

  • International Debut for Maserati GranCabrio MC

Maserati-GranCabrio-MC-THUMBMaserati GranCabrio MC is destined to complete Maserati’s open-top range adding to it high performance and sports characteristics. The new model in addition is inspired by the racing experience which the brand has but also include its ultimate luxury style, appeal and practicality of a four seater convertible.

After the success of the GranTurismo MC Stradale, the designer decided to bring to manifestation this model. Hence the new GranCabrio MC has a highly sporty and aggressive look, while maintaining the strengths and characteristics of a true grand tourer. This basically means that it is also perfect for long journeys.

In particular, the car is 48 millimetres longer than the GranCabrio and GranCabrio Sport. In addition it has a very distinctive front end which was inspired directly by the MC Stradale. However, it includes a new improved profile in order to optimize the aerodynamic lift and flow.

Other different design elements than those on the GranCabrio can be seen at some aerodynamic elements at the rear end. Furthermore, the rear is characterized by the large spoiler. This makes possible a greater negative lift at high speeds.

Next to be mentioned is that inside the spoiler, which was built into the luggage compartment, is positioned a third brake light. The standard version of Maserati GranCabrio MC comes in the same color as the body and is offered with various car customization packages. Of course it will be also available with a carbon finish.

The mid-front mounted 6.6-litre turbo-diesel engine is utilized to capitalize on the Torque Multiplication technology. In addition it is able to run on mineral diesel, bio diesel, palm oil and linseed oil.

  • Wheelsandmore “Pronto” Update Maserati Gran Turismo Mc Stradale

Wheelsandmore-Maserati-Gran-Turismo-Mc-Stradale-thumbWhat we have here is the latest Wheelsandmore update on the Maserati Gran Turismo Mc Stradale. It’s called the “Pronto” and is available for both the coupe and convertible series.

Most notably, some careful work has been done to jump the power of the standard Stradle‘s V8 – 30 extra hp and 40 Nm of torque more thanks to an ECU upgrade and a hand-made exhaust system roars through a remote-controlled valve. So that’s 480 PS and 550 Nm of torque passing through a ZF 6-speed automatic gearbox.

There’s been a shoe shopping spree as well. The Wheelsandmore Maserati Gran Turismo Mc Stradale rolls on ultralight 6Sportz2 forged wheels that measure up to 12.5×21-inches. Wrapped around these multipiece goodies are four P Zero Nero tires from Pirelli – 255/30/21 at the front and 355/25/21 at the back.

Another feature intended to improve not only the road appeal, but the overall performance is the compression and rebound adjustable coilover suspension, which is also available for vehicles with OEM Skyhook suspension. For it, you get 5 yars of warranty.

When it comes to the interior, things get very flexible so be sure to be on the right mood when discussing it.

  • Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S Best Luxury Car Award

Maserati-Quattroporte-Sport-GT-S-thumbThe Maserati Quattroporte Sport GT S has been around for quite a while now, and yet it still manages to capture the public’s hearts. The latest award to be swept away by the four-door grand tourer comes from the leading Spanish financial magazine “El Economista”. The category is “Best Luxury Car”.

Within 15 days, more than 60, 000 people saw the Quattroporte as the most suitable contestant. Runner ups included the Porsche Panamera GTS, Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II, Audi S8, Jaguar XJ and BMW Series 6 Gran Coupé.

“The Italian Marque can combine like nobody else the best luxury with the strongest performance. This is the very essence of this Sport GT S version of the Maserati Quattroporte saloon. The result of the vote clearly shows that sportiness and luxury work better when they are combined, that people do not want to choose between one or the other: they want both” said Manolo Domenech, Editor of Ecomotor during the award ceremony which took place on the opening day of the Madrid Motor Show.

Popping up the hood, we have to admit, the Sport GT S is a charmer – a 4.7 V8 powertrain that develops 433 bhp and 490 Nm. Further down the line, an automatic/paddle-shigt transmission sends the power to 20-inch, wider-than-standard wheels. Inside various accents incorporate carbon-fiber and Alcantra.

As a model, the Quattroporte has received over 50 awards during its lifetime – which is sort of not enough considering that Pininfarina were responsible for the design.

  • The Prowler Project: SR Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible

SR-Maserati-Gran-Turismo-Convertible---Prowler-Project-THUMBSR Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible – Prowler Project is the latest luxury project of the works of collaboration between PUR Wheels and SR Auto Group. If you have thought that they might stop amazing you with exceptional vehicles, well this Project called Prowler will prove you wrong.

The Prowler is based on Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible and this fact makes it already a very special tuning. It includes a six-speed, ZF automatic transmission with a hydraulic torque converter. Thank to this the gear shift changes quickly and effortlessly.

More importantly, being a true Maserati, the vehicle carries inherent sporty stance, characteristics, and of course – engine: the 4.7-liter V8 one. This motor produces 433 horsepower (318 kW) and 361 foot pounds of torque. These numbers enable the car to accelerate from 0 gto 100 km/h in just 5.7 seconds.

The prowler project comes in a cloak of matt black, which to me looks as velvet skin. The objective here was to make a contrast between it and the light interior that the Maserati has. A special part of the tuning is the set of super silver PUR 1NE 21/22 inch wheels, which were developed for the purpose of making contrast as well.

Silvia Venturini Fendi’s specially crafted logo seals this collaboration. A silver oval plaque with the engraving of the Maserati Trident, Fendi logo and the five-digit series number is located on the dashboard, in front of the passenger seat, and on both sides of the black cloth folding roof.

  • 2012 Geneva Motor Show: Maserati GranTurismo Sport

Maserati GranTurismo Sport will be the successor of the GranTurismo S. It is currently exhibited at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show.

The sports car is powered by a 4.7-liter V8 engine with 460 PS (338 kW) and 520 Nm (383 lb-ft) of torque. 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 300 km/h (186 mph). The engine is mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox or 6-speed electro actuated gearbox, with dry twin-plate clutch.

The new GranTurismo Sport is fitted with the Sport Skyhook system, an evolution of the continuous damping control system that makes the car even more reactive and fun to drive, whilst at the same time increasing passenger comfort. In SPORT mode the car is pin sharp in responding to the driver’s input, while in normal mode it constantly adapts the damping to absorb the roughness of the surface for a smoother ride. All this equates to a superb handling capability that combines sports performance and comfort in all driving conditions.

The exterior comes with minor changes – revised front bumper, new badge and new headlights with integrated LED daytime running lights.

The interior features new seats and a new steering wheel, and aluminum pedals. The seats are upholstered in Poltrona Frau leather. There are also some EcoChrome grey accents.

With these characteristics, the new GranTurismo Sport follows in the footsteps of one of the most successful cars in the entire history of Maserati.

  • GS Exclusive Maserati 4200 Evo

GS-Maserati-4200-thumbThis is a Maserati 4200 GT Cambiocorsa dipped in the orange blood of a Lamborghini Gallardo. That is how G&S Exclusive, a company based in Albstadt, southern Germany, chose to customize their version of the 4200 called the “Evo”. They also added some styling and restyling in a rather surprising way.

A lower, new front bumper houses a standard Maserati Coupe GranTurismo grille. To assure us of their respect towards the Maserati brand, G&S Exclusive have also retained the trident emblem, fog lights, parking lights and blinkers. The hood however, has been replaced with a new, more curvy one. Despite being called the “Evo”, this Maserati actually has the back end of a 3200 GT, the car that was replaced by the 4200 back in 2001. According to G&S, many people expressed discontent from the new hind of the 4200 which was deemed characterless and less sophisticated. This one here also has a completely new rear bumper with a flamboyant diffuser. Alternatively, one can go for the defuserless version of that bumper but then, the car might lose its overall road-scraping feel. A pair of G&S sideskirts complete the Evo‘s exterior kit.

    G&S Exclusive Maserati 4200 Evo
    G&S Exclusive Maserati 4200 Evo

Two 85 millimetre double-ended exhaust pipes stick out from the cutaways of the rear bumper. That is how we know that the G&S people have fitted a Capristo exhaust system (EDS & MSD) with valve control, back pressure control and remote control functionality. Our guess is however, that one can figure this one out by simply hearing the amplified rumble of the V8 that comes out from the back. If you are planning to take this car out of Germany, than you can also go for the main exhaust silencer replacement pipes option. Other than that, Germany’s officials (TÜV) wont have it.

The car’s suspension has been chucked out and a new KW Variant 3 sports setup has been introduced. That means compression and rebound adjustment functionality (optionally with added hydraulic height adjustment). Needless to say that two pairs of 20 inch OZ “Ultraleggera” (ultralight) adorn the 4200 GT Evo from the outside – 8.5 x 20 and 10 x 20 front and back respectively. Dunlops, wrapped around the sporty designed wheels, size up to 235/30ZR20 on the leading axle and 275/25ZR20 on the driving axle. As an alternative, G&S offers three-part OZ Granturismo light alloy wheels with forged wheel stars in the same size mentioned above. In order to fit such monstrous size figures under the wheel arches (there are 20mm wheel spacers on each wheel!), the mud guards had to be extended by 10 mm on both front sides and 20 mm both of the rear sides.

  • Maserati GranTurismo Sport Premiere at Geneva

Maserati-GranTurismo-Sport-thumbMaserati plan to make a premiere of their new GranTurismo Sport at the 82nd Geneva Motor Show this year. It will be a replacement for the current GranTurismo S. The thing is, the company wants us to think it’s new but what we actually have here is a restyled interior, a new bumper and a revisited engine.

Supposedly the new front bumper “optimizes” airflow even further by scooping larger amounts of air to cool the brakes and engine. The front lights employ a new style and house DRL LED lights to keep up with the competition while the taillights are a but faded. Interior changes have also been made – redesigned seats and a sporty steering wheel. We just hope that by sporty they mean less buttons and controls and more.. well.. steering wheel.

Most probably the most meaningful update is that of the 4.7l V8 which now develops 10 more (460 bhp) horsepower. It’s not groundbreaking but one can never have enough, right?
