  • Quattroporte relaunched! This is why you should consider buying it

Maserati Quattroporte GranLusso and GTS GranSports front viewWe haven’t heard for a long, long time from Maserati and it quite seemed that the brand is in its sunset. However, unexpectedly it is releasing new variants of its Quattroporte, which add more exterior styling, interior refinement and high-tech features. As a matter of fact, Maserati is actually making a new strategy with the launch of the new two trim levels, called GranLusso and GTS GranSport.

In general, the restyled Quattroporte features new design for its bumper design, front grille with electrically adjustable Air Shutter, side skirts and exterior mirrors. The change in the latter is also functional in order to incorporate new technical elements.

SEE ALSO: Maserati Levante to Be Unveiled to North American Audience

Some of the changes on the inside include revisions to the central dashboard, which now accommodates high resolution 8.4” screen with multi touch function; to the central, lower console which adds rotary control for volume and function control; new infotainment system and etc.

If the customer does not feel satisfied with the made changes then he or she might also want to try the package of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which adds Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop&Go, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning with Advanced Brake Assist and Automated Emergency Braking. The Surround View Camera comes also at additional cost.

GranLusso and GranSport Add Even More

Maserati Quattroporte GTS GranSports front view

As mentioned, with this restyling of the flagship Quattroporte, Maserati launches a new strategy. The goal is to offer its special customers more choice with the addition of those two trim levels. Both variants are available with the Quattroporte V6 powertrain versions. However, at the top of the range sits the Quattroporte GTS, which is driven by the twin-turbo V8. Why are those trims so important? Because they are instantly recognizable thanks to their unique exterior and interior design.

Precisely, the GranLusso stands out because of its new front lower fascia design and the body colour bumper profiles, clear rear looks and 20” Mercurio rims and black painted brake calipers. On the inside, the exclusivity of the trim is defined by the Ermenegildo Zegna Edition interior that adds a patented silk fabric on the seats, doors, headliner and sun visors; pore Radica wood on the dashboard and the leather steering wheel with wooden inserts.

    Maserati Quattroporte GTS GranSports Interior

On the other hand, the GranSport trim is making a strong statement by highlighting the sporty character of the Quattroporte. In other words, the model looks more aggressive than ever! The front features restyled centre and side air intakes, lower fascia linked to the grille with aerodynamic inspired splits; centre fuselage and two side pockets on the rear and an aggressive black piano spoiler. Here, this edition is fitted with 21” Titano rims, behind which there are glossy black bumpers and red brake calipers.

On the inside, the Quattroporte GranSport gets redesigned front and rear seats, sport steering wheel in carbon fibre or full leather; Piano Black wood trim on the dashboard and stainless steel sport pedals. To enance it even more, Maserati is offering the Exterior Carbon Pack, which adds external mirrors, door handles and b-pillar cover as well as front bumper in carbon fibre.

So, how do you find the Maserati Levante so far?

  • Maser GranCabrio Sport is a Maserati-Based Masterpiece by Vilner

Maser GranCabrio Sport Exterior Maser GranCabrio Sport is the name that Vilner gave the MY2012 Maserati GranCabrio Sport after the thorough and substantial tuning of its cabin. And interesting fact is that the car was sent by England with the single purpose to get its interior beautified in the Bulgarian-based Art Tuning Studio.

In terms of the exterior the Maserati hasn’t been changed. This means that it has kept the original Rosso Trionfale exterior color as well as the beautiful black Astro 20-inch wheels. No changes have been given to the engine too, since the owner was pretty satisfied with its performance values. 2012 Maserati GranCabrio Sport is powered by a 4.7 liters V8 engine with 4691cc displacement, 450 hp (330 kW) and 510 Nm (378 lb-ft) of torque. The unit is mated to a six-speed automatic and drives the rear wheels.

    The Work on Maser’s Cockpit

Maser GranCabrio Sport Interior Picture One: Before and After

In contrast to the exterior, the stock Bianco Pregiato cockpit is now history. The custom Vilner interior is entirely different in terms of design philosophy and craftsmanship in comparison to the production one. The soft brown leather used for the entire wrapping of the cabin features wine red accents and white stitching. Everything has been dressed in Alcantara and high-quality leather: from the sun visors to the door panels. Speaking of the latter, their design includes a white stitching which beautifully frames the plane of the surface.

Discrete details can be seen on the front belt-leaders, their locking mechanisms and the inner door handles. Precisely, these elements have been made of two different layers of skin with a round perforation on the outside. All of the hard surfaces (like the base of the seats) of this Maserati have been wrapped in fine Alcantara. The front frame of the mirror have been wrapped in brown skin, while all of the original plastic decorations on the dashboard and doors have been lacquered in black.

Maser GranCabrio Sport Interior Picture Two: Before and After

An intriguing contrast is making the cover of the gearshift lever with its black base, as is the red-wine color used for the revised steering wheel. Other changes include the following: the bars of the Bose speakers are now brown, the shutters of the anti-rollbars at the back are now red, the Alcantara wrapping for the ceiling, the floor mats in red leather trim, and the floor of the trunk with “Trident of Neptune” embroidery. We can’t skip the special bag, which is always included in Vilner’s tunings and that complements the design of the interior.

After the tuning was eventually finished, the owner was so stunned by the work of Vilner’s experts that e praised their work with the following words:

“I love this car, from the moment I took it. It has techniques that carry Ferrari genes, but the vinyl interior was quite numb and was easily damaged. The new one, executed by Vilner, is just wonderful! If only Maserati could do the cockpit in this quality and half as impressive! Finally, the interior meets the exterior.”

  • Zagato Maserati Mostro Debuts at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este

Mostro is a name of a car powered by Maserati and created by Zagato. In fact, it is company’s latest creation, which is set to be revealed during this year’s Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. The car is not only created to celebrate the centenary of Maserati, but also to honor one of the most iconic racers in Tridente’s history, the Maserati 450 S Coupe Zagato Monster. The latter was designed back in 1957 by Frank Costin, who was a specialist in aerodynamics. Then it was coach-built in Milan for the 24 Hours of Le Mans because of a request of Stirling Moss.

    Body

Just like its predecessor, Mostro is built on the philosophy of pure racing mechanics. However, it is also completely road sanctioned. Its chassis is made of a MonoCell of carbon fiber coupled to a mid-structure of steel tubes. This creates the cockpit and the subframe that carries the fuel tank, exhaust system, rear suspension and gearbox.

SEE ALSO: Zagato Shows Aston Martin Virage Shooting Brake at Concours D’Elegance

The car is constructed in Italy and Zagato says that its bodywork is entirely carbon fiber. With a coupé-body design built on a sports car chassis, the Mostro features specific 450 S Coupe characteristics that express the classic design and timeless beauty of Zagato vehicles. All in all, its design showcases the spirit of the best aerodynamics combined with the stance of a modern race car.

    Exterior Design

The idea behind this project is to keep the initial design of the 1957 racer. This is visible through the enormous frontal part that houses the engine. In addition, the large front fender runs along the entire length of the frontal part, then it disappears at the door. This is where the line of the car’s massive rear fender begins.

The other design characteristics that define this car are the fixed glass windows along the sides, the wide windshield increasing the visibility, and the high opening of the doors. The large rear fixed-wing creates adequate downforce on the rear axle.

    Engine & Suspension

Under the hood there is a central-front V8 Maserati engine, which has dry-sump lubrication. The unit is linked to a semi-automatic six-speed rear-positioned gearbox. The latter optimally distributes the weight of the car along the longitudinal axis. At the front and the rear Zagato installed double wishbone architecture with a pushrod, spring and shock absorber system.

    Wheels & Tires

This unique car will be running on 19-inch multispoke alloys behind which will be working large disc brakes. The wheels will be fitted with 255/40 R19 and 295/35 R19 rubbers at the front and rear, respectively.

Zagato Maserati Mostro will be exclusive edition and only five examples will be created. Each unit has been already assigned to selected Zagato collectors. First deliveries will happen before December this year.

  • Forza Horizon 2 now with Furious 7 Car Pack [VIDEO]

Forza Horizon 2: Furious 7 Car PackRemember when we told you the story behind the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from Furious 7? Well, the great news for today is that you are actually given the chance to drive it. At least virtually, since the car has made its debut in Forza Horizon 2, the strenuous Xbox One game. The other good news is that it is actually part of Furious 7 Car Pack, which features lineup of eight fantastic vehicles, appearing in the latest series.

All of the cars have been authentically recreated, and in fact they also include details never seen before in a Forza game. Take for instance the awesome functioning blower in the Charger R/T. There is also a month’s free car, which in this case is the 1998 Toyota Supra.

So, let’s start with the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T Fast & Furious Edition. It is said that this car offers the best way to live your life a quarter-mile at a time. It is driven by a 426 Hemi engine, pumping out 425 horses (313 kW). It also comes equipped with coil-over race suspension, 18-inch wheels coupled with wide tires and huge disc brakes. There is also a fully functioning supercharger and street blower scoop making a hole in the hood. The result is more than impressive and it is 900 hp (662 kW).

Next is the 1970 Plymouth Cuda with 600 horsepower, coming from the same as Charger’s engine. It is characterized by bold colors, muscular fenders and a lot of Mopar features.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is also featured in the car pack. The very cool thing about it is that it is bulletproof and extremely modified throughout. Surprisingly, its power comes from a turbo-diesel motor.

If you want to see something more luxurious in the pack, you have it! Greet the 2014 Maserati Ghibli S Fast & Furious Edition, which in the movie is driven by the Jason Statham’s character. Under its hood, one finds the twin-turbo V6 pumping out more than 400 horsepower (294 kW).

Number five is a position reserved for the 1970 Plymouth Road Runner. Interesting fact about this car is that it was the choice of bootleggers and street racers back in the 70s, because it was faster than most police cars. Perfect ride, isn’t it?

We can’t skip the latest 2015 Dodge Charger R/T, which is also featured in both the movie and the game. This American muscle car was driven by Dom, features Mopar tweaks and packs 370 horses (272 kW).

Another Dodge, this time the Challenger, will also help you battle your competitors in the game. Its bulging fenders, long hood, and short deck are something that stays lasting in our mind. We also saw a captivating ad campaign, featuring this model.

At last, the month’s free car is 1998 Toyota Supra, which back in the days was the king of Japanese sports cars. This particular model is powered by the famous 2JZ engine. The unit is highly tunable and is preferred among tuning enthusiasts.

The pack is already available and can be purchased for only $5 USD. And I have already done this good thing. Can you guess what I’m going to do next?

  • 2016 Maserati Levante Still Looks Strange

Before the official launch of Maserati’s new crossover, it has been spotted once again but this time in the cold lands of Scandinavia.

Despite the good-looking concept SUV, Kubang Concept, which was shown some time ago and which seemed to be ready for production, the automaker is still teasing and postponing the official reveal of the new vehicle. The 2016 Maserati Levante crossover is based on the Ghibli sedan but with some significant modifications.

Even though there are no specifications announced, powertrains are expected to be similar to the ones found on Ghibli and Quattroporte. Precisely, the base engine will be a V6 producing 350 HP with a 425 HP V6 version following after the first one. In order to thrill customers even more, Maserati is planning the production of a V8 performance model which will be capable of delivering 560 HP.

Some of the alterations mentioned above include increased ride height and wider tracks. Most probably there will be an all-wheel drive system. As it seems, the age of the SUVs has arrived, for last week, Jaguar teased with a video about its most recent F-pace model which is set to go on sale in 2016.

    More information will come soon.
