Fans of horror movies will have the chance to relish an interesting and well-done horror advertisement with an interesting plot twist. Inspired by classic horror stories, Chevrolet draws customer’s attention to the 2016 Malibu and Cruze models in an rather interesting way that includes goosebumps and laughter.
The 60-second video was directed by the well-known Michigan-born filmmarker, Sam Raimi. As you might know, his career was started with the supernatural horror film series Evil Dead that made him the perfect choice to direct a piece of horror for Chevrolet team.
There are several cinematic techniques that Raimi incorporates: of course, these include the well-known intense music, the typical for horror movies dim lightning, shifting emphasis and the distinctive strange noises and laughter. And let’s not forget the curiosity of the protagonist that encourages her to go to rather unwelcoming places.
Furthermore, Chevy expects that the ad will reach about 2300 theatres and 14,000 screens during the six-month run of the video.
But let’s remind why 2016 Malibu and Chevy gained that popularity. Along with Pedestrian Alert, both vehicles come with standard equipment that includes Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning, Side Blind Zone Alert with Lane Change Alert, improved Forward Collision Alert with Following Distance Indicator, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control with Front Automatic Braking and Automatic Parking Assist.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid LT is the latest addition in the line-up of cars in the General Motors family, which can stand proud with 48 mpg fuel consumption in the city. To make this model achieving these results, the Chevrolet engineer decided to give the Malibu a technology that has been already fitted in the second-generation Chevrolet Volt.
Therefore we have nothing else but a new hybrid powertrain. It uses slightly modified drive unit and electric motors found in the 2016 Volt. The new Ecotec 1.8L hybrid optimized direct-injected engine is mated with a two-motor electric drive unit.
The powertrain helps the car achieve fuel efficiency on the highway of 45 mpg, and a combined one of 47 mpg. However, these are only preliminary results and the official EPA estimates are still pending.
There are a lot of standard features in the Malibu Hybrid model. For instance, a cool one is the MyLink Radio with 7-inch diagonal color touch screen which however comes with available Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and a rear vision camera. Other standard equipment includes 10 airbags, cruise control and push-button start with passive entry.
In terms of safety, the 2016 Malibu Hybrid offers several absolutely new to the model technologies. These include Lane Keep Assist, Front Pedestrian Braking and Low Speed Front Automatic Braking.
The popular Teen Driver features isn’t standard but helps support safe driving habits by muting the audio or any device paired with the vehicle when front-seat occupants aren’t wearing their seat belts. In addition, this feature is also the first one to let parents view information on how their teenagers drove the vehicle.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid will be available the spring of 2016 and will be offered with a starting price of $28,645 USD.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu midsize sedan was put on a special test and training program in order to become even more efficient, powerful and more comfortable. And the team behind the project achieved some interesting results. Now, the 2016 Malibu vehicle is lighter with about 136 kg (300 pounds) and achieves some excellent purity: only 48 mpg in city and about 37 mpg on the highway, thanks to the redesigned 1.5-liter turbo engine. And of course, the lighter weight means improved ride and handling. So, let’s see what the Chevy team has achieved.
The five most noteworthy achievements in 2016 Chevrolet Malibu
1. Stronger body construction
The 2016 Malibu’s greatly reduced weight means that the engineers used only light, but high-strength steel, that ensures thinner, but extremely well-built components, that improve the handling and the overall safety of the vehicle. Furthermore, the stronger body construction means and one more thing. The suspension system can be fine-tuned even more precisely, which means even smoother and comfortable ride.
2. Wonderful use of aluminum
Light and extremely strong, the use of aluminum components in the 2016 Malibu machine is one of the main reasons of the great weight reduction. The overall reduction, thanks only to the aluminum components reduced the car’s weight with 3 kg, which is quite impressive. Furthermore, aluminum components in the suspension system improve the handling and the overall responsiveness of the Malibu.
3. Streamlined instrument panel and light power accessories
For example, the redesigned window regulators save up to 4.2 pounds, while additional 2.2 pounds are reduced by the complex order inside the instrument panel. But complexity also means more integrated parts and components, which bring additional features for no additional weight or energy cost. In fact, even the center console was greatly improved and now it weights with 1.75 pounds less.
4. Lighter seats and other soft materials
Chevrolet 2016 Malibu now comes with special leather seats, that save up to 40 pounds of the overall vehicle weight. Furthermore, there were a total of 2.6 pounds reduced by redesigning the trunk and the changed interior carpet. It is interesting how Chevrolet team manages to reduce the weight in such interesting ways.
5. Lighter engine components
And the last, but not least, the powerplant. The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu now offers customers a special 1.5-liter turbo engine, that is 86 pounds lighter than its predecessor, the standard 2.5-liter engine. And along with the wonderful features, that a lightweight engine brings, one is especially important: the lightweight system bring better front-to-rear weight balance, which contributes the vehicle’s wonderful responsiveness.
With great weight improvements the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2015. Furthermore, the vehicle will be offered in 4 trims: L, LS, LT and Premier. Furthermore there is also a special Hybrid model, that will demonstrate some stunning performance and efficiency features.
2016 Chevrolet Malibu is the main highlight at General Motors’ stand at the New York Auto Show. The new model is entirely redesigned and can show-off with a host of exclusive features like the new connectivity and safety systems. Not to mention the enhanced efficiency due to the new hybrid powertrain. The eco-friendly technology was taken directly from the Volt model and then adapted to the needs of the larger car. Precisely, the estimated combined fuel economy is more than 45 mpg. To compare this number, the standard 1.5L turbo unit is rated at 37 mpg highway.
Other very important aspect that contributes to the great efficiency is that the car is nearly 300 pounds (136 kg) lighter than before. It is also longer with four inches (101 mm) and these two facts result in more space for the occupants.
To go further into details, Volt’s 1.8L four-cylinder engine is combined with two-motor drive unit. The total output is 182 horsepower (136 kW). The unit is also equipped with Chevy’s Exhaust Gas Heat Recovery (EGHR) which works by utilizing the exhaust heat to warm the engine and cabin. The electric power comes from the 1.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which can drive the Malibu alone up to 55 miles per hour (88 km/h). Regenerative braking system is also present.
As a standard, the Malibu comes with the brand new Ecotec 1.5L turbo unit, rated at 37 mpg on the highway. It produces 160 horsepower (119 kW) and 184 lb-ft of torque (250 Nm). If one looks for a higher-output, then Chevy has prepared for them the 2.0L turbocharged engine, which generates 250 horsepower (186 kW) and 258 lb-ft of torque (350 Nm), and has fuel efficiency rating of 22 mpg and 32 mpg in the city and on the highway, respectively.
There are a lot of technology features in the new Malibu regarding infotainment and safety that can usually be found in GMC models. The most interesting on is the Test Drive feature which comes as a standard and supports safe driving. It does this by muting the audio if any of the occupants haven’t put their seatbelt on.
The ninth generation Malibu is going to be offered in four trim levels: L, LS, LT and Premier and will also have a Hybrid version. More on the model and the specific trims is to be announced close to production. And can you believe that the first ever variant of the Malibu has been produced back in 1964?
The next generation Chevrolet Malibu is obviously making a big furore out there, since the company had to reveal a video and more information about it prior its official release. This will happen at New York Auto Show on 1st of April as you already know. The 48 seconds film shows how Chevy has tested the limits of Malibu to make sure that the sedan has literally no boundaries.
This happened in a very interesting way with the help of data collection boxes that were placed in various cars around the world. They collected real-time data of the road conditions, and in fact since 1972 these devices have recorded the frequency of the road, recording how the car handles various types of obstacles.
After all the collected data was analyzed, the engineers have estimated what damage can be created on the car over running into 150 000 miles of potholes and other hazards. The next step was to mimic these conditions on a home-built road with simulated obstacles, where the car had to drive hundreds of times.
But this is not all of the testing. There were also driving on open roads, in harsh weather conditions as well as stationary and dynamic tests. The benefit: we will probably get a more reliable and durable Malibu. Watch the video to make sure of that. 2016 Chevrolet Malibu will have a market launch by the end of the year.
Yes, it is! And this is the first official picture we have so far. Designed for the 2016 model year, the car is scheduled to make a global debut at the New York International Auto Show. Chevrolet did not say much, but what we got as information is sufficient to please our ears. The new Malibu is made to be more efficient than its predecessor due not only to better engine but also to the fact that it will be around 300 pounds lighter.
For this weight loss is responsible the implementation of the higher-strength steel structure. In turn, this will not only lead to better economy but also to improvements of handling.
In addition, this totally new architecture will be 4 inches longer than the outgoing model. Of course this also contributes to an increased cabin space and more importantly – to more leg room for the front and rear occupants.
Other enhancements will be included throughout the interior, so we do expect some luxury treatment like leather, nappa or Alcantara. The confirmed changes so far include connectivity and advanced safety features, which is said to be better than ever.
From what we can tell judging by the teaser, it seems that 2016 Chevrolet Malibu has sleeker profile and more aggressive front. The company said that this is because the front wheels have been moved forward as well as the front and rear overhangs have been minimized.
So are we to see more dynamic and refined model in New York is a matter of time to understand. No words on engine range too, we will definitely have to wait till the big reveal or few days prior to that if we’re lucky.
2014 Chevrolet Malibu will be going on sale this autumn and will be equipped with fuel-saving stop/start technology. The latter will be standard on the 2.5L base model. Thanks to it the Malibu shows an EPA-estimated 25 city and 36 highway mpg fuel economy.
This means that the stop/start technology will improve the fuel efficiency of this Chevrolet model by automatically shutting off the engine when the car comes to a stop. The engine automatically restarts when the driver takes their foot off the brake.
An auxiliary 12-volt battery is utilized during restarts in order to power electric accessories like the heating and air conditioning, power windows and radio. In addition, the same technology monitors car’s speed, climate control system and also determines whether it is efficient to shut off the engine in certain driving conditions.
Furthermore, a valve-actuation technology which is familiar as Intake Valve Lift Control is incorporated into Malibu’s 2.5L engine. This system also improves the fuel efficiency and operates in low-lift mode. This means that the engine pumps only the air it needs to meet the driver’s demand.
When it is in high-lift mode in cases of higher speeds or under heavy loads, it delivers the full output of the engine. What is more, the variable intake valve actuation also helps lower emissions.
The engine is coupled with a six-speed 6T45 transmission that includes refinements in order to minimize the energy required to pump transmission fluid and also contributes towards additional fuel economy savings.
The additional new features on the 2014 Chevrolet Malibu include a revised front-end appearance, roomier rear seat with 1.25 inches (31.7 mm) more knee room, redesigned center console, suspension enhancements, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features as an option.
The new Malibu will be available in three grades: LS, LT and LTZ. The base model will be equipped with 2.5L engine powertrain and it will have a starting price of US $22 965 for the LS, US $24 335 for the 1LT, US $26 040 for the 2LT and US $28 515 for the top LTZ trim.
2014 Chevrolet Malibu has been unveiled and it comes to offer to its customers more space, refinements and efficiency. It includes an updated styling and interior, as well as new 2.5L standard engine and suspension enhancements.
To be more precise, the new and enhanced features include a revised front-end appearance, a roomier rear seat with 1.25 inches (31.7 mm) more knee room, a redesigned center console, a new 2.5L engine with variable valve lift control and start/stop technology with estimated fuel economy of 23 city / 35 highway, more torque from the available 2.0L turbo engine – 295 lb-ft (400 Nm), suspension enhancements, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert safety features.
The new front-end of the model is influenced by the Impala, and it includes more prominent lower grille and the hood. The latter extends down and over the leading edge of a narrower upper grille which in turn features openings – with black grille texture.
The interior of the car features redesigned seats in order to bring about more roominess for the occupants and of course – greater comfort. In addition, the center console has been redesigned and now has a longer armrest, cup holders and dedicated storage for two cell phones.
In terms of efficiency, there has been made some improvements as well. As a standard this new Chevrolet will be equipped with the Ecotec 2.5L Intake Valve Lift Control DOHC four-cylinder engine with direct injection. Its variable intake valve actuation brings about better efficiency and helps lower emissions. At the same time it also enhances the low-rpm torque.
What is more, there is also featured a new start/stop technology which shuts down the 2.5L engine in order to save fuel when the Malibu stops momentarily. Another technological advancement is the auxiliary battery that powers the electric accessories such as the climate system, power windows and radio during engine restarts.
The new 2.5L unit produces 196 horsepower (145 kW) and 186 lb-ft of torque (253 Nm). There is also available the optional 2.0L turbo engine which generates 259 horsepower (193 kW) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque.
The designers of the new 2014 Malibu have worked also to refine the chassis in order to deliver better driving experience. The new rebound springs that are internal to the struts enable more refined calibration of the dampers for a smoother overall ride, while also enhancing body roll control and weight transfer during acceleration or turning.
The additional chassis control technologies feature the following: four-channel anti-lock brakes, full-function traction control, four-corner electronic stability control, electronic brake force distribution, brake assist system, corner brake control, hydraulic brake fade assist and drag torque control.
At last, the other optional safety features offered here include the New Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. Malibu also comes with 10 standard air bags and an available rearview camera system. 2014 Chevrolet Malibu goes on sale this autumn.

Recent gas prices causing you headache? The trip between the petrol stations seems too short? Well, if you insist to sticking to a mid-sized saloon, the ChevroletMalibu Eco might be the car for you. They say it can do 965 km of highway on a single tank of fuel. This is just another example of how a combination of simple yet clever technologies can help bring noticeable relief to your wallet.
Let’s not beat around the bush – The Malibu Eco achieves an EPA-estimated 25 miles per gallon city and 37 mpg highway fuel economy. Numbers would not have been so high if it wasn’t for the all-electric power steering. It’s cleaner, more efficient and smarter than any other hydraulic setup in the world. Thanks to it, Malibu owners can save up to 12 gallons annually, or about 120 gallons in a 10-year life. At $4 per gallon, that saves about $50 per year or $500 in 10 years say Chevrolet.
The Malibu’s power steering is not constantly operational. Instead, it kicks in only when you need it to do so. If you are going down the highway, the only thing it does is to slightly compensate outside factors that may cause directional shifts (think of uneven roads or crosswinds). Wherever you are, the feedback comes with reduced vibrations and, in some of the cars, responsiveness can be adjusted trough two settings – “comfort” and “sport”.
Chevrolet Malibu Eco (2013)
But an electric power steering is not something groundbreaking and it’s going to take more than that for the Eco, to stand up to its name. This is where GM’s fuel-saving eAssist technology comes into place. It shuts of fuel supply to the engine when the car is decelerating. While in fuel shut-off mode, the motor-generator unit continues spinning along with the engine should the accelerator pedal be pressed again. Thus, a smooth and immediate response is ensured. The system also manages to salvage up to 15kW of power that would normally be lost upon breaking, and recharges the Li-ion battery of the Malibu.
At the moment, the Eco version of it is priced at $25,595 but, with a little more patience, we will see the arrival of an all-new, greener 2.5L Ecotec engine to all Malibu models. Not before summer this. Then, sometime later, a new turbo model will be available.
The new and long awaited 2013 Chevrolet Traverse Crossover is now offering greater style, refinement and safety. The vehicle will go in production later this year and will deliver confidence, comfort and capability.
First to be seen in the crossover is its new athletic exterior design, complemented by a more expressive front end. The latter features a new shape supported by a powerdome hood, a three-bar upper and two-bar lower grille design, new lamps, chrome accents around the grille and fog lamps, and sculpted front corners. They remind very much of the new 2013 Chevrolet Malibu.
Observed from the back, the rear carries redesigned lamps. In addition the license plate pocket is positioned in the new liftgate for a sportier look.
2013 Traverse is all about spaciousness and comfort. It offers flexible seating for up to eight adults, and more cargo-carrying capacity than any other vehicle in its segment. Of course, no less than high-quality materials are used in the interior. This results soft-touch surfaces on the instrument panel and front door uppers. In addition, what is also uniquely featured in the interior is the contrasting stitching, chrome and silver accents, and available blue ambient lighting that flows through the cabin.
A new center stack has the 6.5-inch color touch radio, which of course has the latest Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system. The latter system allows customers to easily integrate their smartphones for hands-free calling through the audio system and Bluetooth streaming of popular internet radio favorites Pandora and Stitcher. The center stack also has large and illuminated climate controls.
The new 2013 Chevrolet Traverse is going to be offered in three interior color choices, in cloth or leather: Ebony and Mojave, Light Titanium and Dark Titanium, and Ebony.
2013 Chevrolet Traverse Crossover Interior
What is more important here is that the three rows of seating now come as a standard on all models. In addition, it delivers flexible seating configurations, class-leading people and cargo-carrying capacity, and family-friendly entertainment.
In details, the second-row seat comes with a pair of captain’s chairs or a three-passenger bench. It include SmartSlide feature which enables ease of access to the third-row bench seat with one hand.
On the other hand, the third-row seat can comfortably accommodate three adult passengers.
This leads to the conclusion that Traverse’s wheelbase dimensions has to be remarkable for the segment: it has a long 118.9-inch (3,019 mm) wheelbase, with a wide 67.8-inch (1,721 mm) front track and 67.4-inch (1,712 mm) rear track.
2013 Chevrolet Traverse Crossover Three Row Interior Space
Moreover, the vehicle is not only comfortably spacious for the passengers, but is also significantly fuel efficient. This efficiency comes from the advanced 3.6L V-6 with fuel-saving direct injection technology and continuously variable valve timing. The innovative engine is mated with a six-speed automatic transmission with improved shift feel. As a consequence, this results in more confident acceleration when the driver needs additional power to enter the highway or pass another vehicle.
In particular, the engine develops 288 horsepower (212 kW) at 366 Nm (270 lb.-ft.) of torque thank to it dual exhaust (281 hp/210 kW and 266 lb.-ft./361 Nm with single exhaust).
The crossover offers as well intelligent all-wheel-drive (AWD) system, which provides increased traction on slippery roads by actively managing the torque distribution between the front and rear axles.
2013 Chevrolet Traverse Crossover
As a matter of fact, 2013 Chevy Traverse is considered to be one of the safest vehicles in the world. The reasons for this are several. First of all, the model was the first one ever to include a front center airbag. The latter was engineered to provide additional restraint to drivers and front passengers in far-side impact crashes, where the affected occupant is on the opposite, non-struck side of the vehicle. Secondly, the vehicle is also equipped with Available Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Cross Traffic Alert systems, which uses radar to watch spots the driver may not see. Then it provides visible and audible warnings to help prevent collisions. Thirdly, the Standard head curtain side air bags with rollover protection serves for outboard occupants in all seating rows. Next comes the StabiliTrak electronic stability control with rollover mitigation technology, which is standard on all models and incorporates full-function traction control. In addition, the Standard rearview camera system is designed to provide the driver with added capability to view what is in the rearward path of the vehicle. The Standard four-wheel-disc brake system with ABS include smooth, quiet operation, longer pad life and more resistance to brake pulsation. Safety belt pretensioners reduce forward movement during a collision. Next, come the Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children, which is a child seat attachment system included in outboard second-row seating positions. The Tire pressure monitoring system is standard on all models. In addition to all this, the Strong body structure in cases of accident, can absorb crash energy and provide a protective “safety cage” around occupants. At last, the Standard hill start assist brakes help reduce the tendency of a vehicle to roll forward or backward on a hill after the brake pedal is released by momentarily retaining pressure on the brake discs.
What is left to be mentioned about the all new Traverse is its innovative OnStar system, which goes as a standard on all models. To be more precise it uses GPS and cellular phone technology to automatically call for help in the event of a crash.
2013 Chevrolet Traverse Crossover is offered in LS, LT and LTZ models with two LT packages: 1LT and 2LT. It comes in both front-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations.

The new Ecotec 2.5 liter engine is going to be included in the 2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco midsize sedan this summer. The engine is one of the most-powerful naturally aspirated four-cylinder engines in the midsize segment, and will deliver even more horsepower in comparison to the previous engine of Malibu. The Ecotec 2.5L delivers a 197 horsepower (147 kW) and 191 lb.-ft. of torque (259 Nm). These numbers mean that this is the most torque of any naturally aspirated four-cylinder in the segment. In addition, the other Ecotec engine, featured in Malibu’s range is the Ecotec 2.0L turbo, which in turn delivers 259 horsepower (193 kW) and 260 lb.-ft. of torque (353 Nm). Its peak torque is sustained from 1,700 to 5,500 rpm and thus it is possible for the car to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.3 seconds. Both engines direct injection for increased fuel efficiency and higher power. In some countries the Malibus will include powertrain lineup that also features the segment-exclusive, fuel-saving eAssist™ technology. This specific technology combines start-stop with regenerative braking and a lightweight lithium-ion battery to provide an electric boost in certain conditions, delivering a GM-estimated 25 mpg in the city 37 mpg on the highway.
2013 Chevrolet Malibu Eco
Furthermore, the new 2012 Chevrolet Malibu Eco was designed to be the most tuned Chevrolet midsize sedan ever and is in addition built on an award-winning global architecture that helps deliver a more confident, responsive and connected driving experience. In details, the body structure is 20-percent stiffer for a greater feeling of solidity, quietness and quality. Moreover, the driving experience is further improved by Chevrolet’s MyLink technology, which is an infotainment package that gives customers a higher level of wireless connectivity and customized infotainment options. In particular, it adds stereo audio streaming and wireless control of smartphones, building on the voice-activated Bluetooth hands-free calling capability.
