Alpha-N Performance proudly presents an updated variant of the M2

What is better than an M2? An updated variant of an M2, of course! The responsible for today’s update of the ultimate car are the tuners at Alpha-N Performance, which have made the model more attractive and potent, and way faster.

The M2 upgrade programme begins with a choice of three boot-lid mounted spoilers. A particular highlight here is the newly designed and fully adjustable carbon rear wing, which has been additionally complemented by a matching splitter for the front spoiler.

But this is not everything. There are two other alternative designs for the rear wing: the one is an M4 GTS look-a-like and the other is a Racing-Style M235i Motorsport wing. To spill it all out, Alpha-N-Performance said that it is currently producing other carbon-fibre styling components for the M2 and that they will be offered shortly.

New wheels from OZ Racing were also added and they support the enhanced performance of the car. They come in 19-inch size, and are coupled with 245/35ZR19 and 265/35ZR19 tyres at the front and rear respectively. The handling of this BMW is further improved with the addition of fully adjustable Road & Track coilover suspension.

Speaking of the performance upgrades, the standard turbocharged straight six-cylinder engine of the M2, which sends 370 hp to the rear wheels, has been given an EVOX performance programme. The results can be classified in three stages: the first one raises the power of the engine from 370 hp to 400 hp, and the torque from 465 Nm to 580 Nm.

Stage number two is raising the numbers to 415 hp and 600Nm, while the last stage – to 430 hp, with peak torque of 620 Nm. If one goes for the third option, then he or she would also get a deletion of the electronic top speed limiter, as well as a racing downpipe without catalysts. The throaty exhaust note can be achieved via the free-flow silencer with throttle control.

Interior changes are scarce, but they complement the performance attitude of the M2 perfectly. The options for the cabin are an Awron dashboard digital display and a replacement of the standard seats with sports or race ones.

  • BMW M2 making it to 410HP and 630 Nm thanks to EVOX upgrade

Alpha-N Performance BMW M2 front and side viewBMW M2 will most surely make it one day to a BMW classic. It has been regarded lately as the perfect sports car that offers enjoyable and fun ride at the amount of around $50,000USD. And it is exactly what BMW stood for back in the days: making two-door models that were offering unique ride. Just remember the original M3.

Being the newest addition to the M lineup, the BMW M2 Coupe seems to slowly become the epitaph of Bavarian company’s high performance DNA. It continues to push the limits even further – delivering a perfected formula of chassis balance, steering response, and power-to-weight ratio. In other words: everything that makes BMW the Ultimate Driving Machine.

Another benefit of the BMW’s new M2 Coupe is that it is anything but underpowered. The 370 hp (272 kW) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque are coming from the TwinPower Turbo 3.0-liter engine, which also helps the car sprint to 100 km/h from standstill in just 4.1 seconds.

The 370hp and 500Nm are obviously not enough fro the Alpha-N Performance tuning studio and for this reason the specialists have prepared EVOX performance upgrades for BMW M2, which unleashes the latent potential in this engine.

There are two upgrade stages offered. The EVOX Stage 1 conversion boosts power and torque to 395 hp (290 kW) and 610 Nm (450 lb-ft) of torque; while the Stage 2 maximizes these numbers to 410 hp (301 kW) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft). Wonder how much faster the M2 now accelerates after the Stage 2. Any suggestions? And by the way, you should also pay attention to the new wheels fitted on the here presented BMW that come in beautiful gold finish.

  • What happens when you power your BMW M2 with M4’s engine?

dAHLer BMW M2 Coupe front viewHave you ever dreamt of substituting the ultimate BMW M2 Coupe’s engine with a larger one? For example with the one used by the M4 model. What would happen? Well, we can stop imagining and see the results of the specialists at the tuning studio at dÄHLer, who have made exactly this.

The Performance Details & More …

Basically, the skillful Swiss BMW individualization company has fitted and installed the M4-engine into the M2 Coupe, and then updated the in-line six-cylinder M TwinPowerTurbo (S55) with 2.979 cubic capacity. The result: 540 HP (397 kW) and 989 Nm (730 ft-lb) of torque reached between 2,900 and 4,900 rpm; 0-100 km/h acceleration sprint in under 4 seconds; and a top speed of 320 km/h.

But is there anything else done here? Yes. The agility of the car has been increased even more via coil-over suspension system, which was in-house made. It serves in terms of lowering, 18th level rebound and compression stage. In addition, dÄHLer has installed their well-proven 8-pistons-high-performance-brake-system, which features massive 400 millimeter brake discs. At the very end of the car we see a brand new stainless steel exhaust system, which was also built by the tuning company.

Anything New Around the Exterior & Interior Design?

dAHLer BMW M2 Coupe rear view

As you can see nothing much seems to be changed in terms of exterior appearance here. It looks like that the M2 is very close to the original series. However the aerodynamic, and in particular the contact pressure of the front axle, benefits from the modest and efficient front spoiler lip. An installation of a rear wing is optional. We have to also mention the dÄHLer CDC1 wheel, sized at 20-inches.

It is not much, but it is still impressive, isn’t it? After all: the devil is in the details.

This makes it possible for the driver to make their own suspension set-up according to personal preference.

M Performance sports brake pads with high resistance to thermal stress can stand extreme use. They also offer improved and more direct response than the standard ones.

    Interior Options

  • Alpha-N Performance and the BMW M2 Project

Alpha-N Performance BMW M2-RS Clubsport Side ViewAlpha-N Performance is happy to introduce not one but two BMW M2 customized cars, both sharing the RS designation. And although we didn’t receive as big pictures as we wanted, those featured in the article give rather good impression of what the highly-performance coupe might look like after the customization. The tuners thought about everything: from the external appearance and aerodynamic updates to the uprating for the engine.

Starting with the aerodynamics, the cars are more efficient than you can imagine and also feature more purposeful and athletic appearance. To achieve this result, the Alpha-N specialists have equipped the nose of the M2 with aggressively looking carbon fibre front spoiler, which includes an adjustable air splitter and updated brake-cooling vents. The lightweight material has been used for sculpted elements on the front bumper and side sills as well.

But this isn’t everything. Please do not forget the rear where we see four-position adjustable carbon-fibre rear wing, which develops varying degrees of positive downforce over the rear axle according to the chosen angle of attack. The roof is also made of carbon, and its purpose is not only aesthetical but also mass-reducing one.

At the four corners of the BMW M2 we see brand new 19-inch OZ Superforgiata wheels shod with 245/35R19 and 265/35R19 tyres at the front and rear, respectively. And if you have carefully looked at the pictures then you’ll definitely spot the lowering. It has been made possible with the help of fully adjustable coil-over suspension.

Alpha-N Performance BMW M2-RS Rear View

Under the hood sleep the 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine, that produces nothing less than 370 hp (275 kW) as a standard. But thanks to the Alpha-N Performance EVOX Multi-channel Chip-tuning Box and the water-injection kit, the output has been raised to 480 hp (353 kW)!

The green variant of the M2 is actually Alpha-N Performance Clubsport version of the M2-RS. If you ask about the differences from the “civilian”, they include the fitment of lightweight race seats, and either a half or full roll cage. So, which one would you chose?
