  • The Most Powerful Evora 400 Validated at Hethel

In February we saw the birth of the most powerful Lotus ever – the Evora 400. Then, at the Geneva Auto Saloon we witnessed its official public reveal. Now, the company has finally proved this with early tests, carried out by the Technical Manager for Lotus Motorsport, Gavan Kershaw. He drove the new Lotus at Hethel, boasting an advantage of six seconds per lap. During the tests he drove an Evora with standard road specifications, running on road tyres and suspension.

The Evora 400 is the latest supercar Lotus has produced. It features significantly reduced weight (by 22kg), additional 55 hp and better traction due to the addition of a limited slip differential. This basically means that the car is faster and more athletic in comparison to the previous generation Evora and this in turn hints for advantages in terms of agility and driving.

SEE ALSO: The New Evora 400 is the Most Powerful Lotus Ever

To go even further into details, the new model has a maximum speed of 186 mph (300 km/h). But more impressive is the fact that it can accelerate from 0-60 mph in only 4.1 seconds. This time extends to 4.2 seconds for the 0-62 mph acceleration sprint.

This capability is due to the addition of an entirely new powerplant, which is the 3.5-litre V6 engine. It generates 400 horsepower (294 kW) and 410 Nm (303 lb-ft) of torque. As a matter of fact, more than two thirds of the car is entirely new. This also includes the aluminium chassis, interior and the lightweight body.

At last, we should also mention that the new Evora 400 is scheduled to for a production start this summer, and will be available in European countries in August. The North Americans will have the chance of driving it as a 2016 model year, while the car will be debuting this autumn. In China, Lotus has decided to release the Evora 400 in the beginning of next year.

  • Lotus to Premiere an Exciting new Model in Geneva

No picture and scarce information is what we’ve got from Lotus about a car. The “exciting” vehicle will have its reveal at the Geneva International Motor Show in early March 2015. What we know for sure is that the product will remain true to its core pillars of lightness, performance and driving purity. In fact, these three characteristics will be embodied in a most desirable package.

Probably, there will be a teaser image soon, but until Geneva we don’t think that Lotus will spill any information. So be prepared and have some patience untill the beginning of March. Rumors say that the company will premiere a new generation of Evora. The car is to include revised styling, more in terms of engine and less weight.

The most recent Elise S Cup, which was revealed a few days ago, is already creating great response in the general public. There are headlines and comments like “…most intoxicating sports car at any price” and “…it’s about as much fun as driving gets”.

The Geneva reveal will produce even more for the new upcoming model. We are not likely to see Lotus Elise S Cup‘s engine in the new model. However, it is pretty impressive. It produces a maximum power of 217 hp (160 kW) at 6800 rpm, and 249 Nm (184 lb-ft) at 4600 rpm of torque. The top speed is limited at 140 mph (225 km/h).

Elise S Cup covers the acceleration sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds. And we have to ask ourselves: since the new car will show even more, is it to surpass this number? More than a month left and the mystery will be solved.

The car’s weight-saving and improved grip and braking abilities should help increase the gap between them and the teams chasing them in the championship. “We always start from scratch with a “blank piece of paper”, because no car is exactly like the other: Power, weight, maximum speed, mounting suspension, power transmission or dynamic – everything has to be factored in accurately, and only after that the final design can be brought to paper, and subsequently on the road.”, said Guido Frensemeyer.

The continuous further development in all areas along with the underlying process landscape allows us to be a competent partner, even for the most demanding automobile manufacturers. The fact that we are already working with some of the leading German car manufacturers on specific projects, and that we are in the process of being approved as series supplier as well, emphasizes this. We are looking forward to experience the fruits of our work on the road – in the next car models from Lotus.”, added Frank Scherer, Director of the MOV’IT GmbH and CEO of the MOV’IT Group.
