  • Lexus at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show

Lexus-LF-LC-Blue-Concept-THUMBWith 2013 Geneva Motor Show being just “around the corner”, Lexus is revealing some insights of their participation. First of all it will mark the European debut of the new, full hybrid Lexus IS 300h.

IS 300h comes with all-new styling which enhances the models aggressive appearance and gives it more distinctive road presence than ever before. It also shows that Lexus has taken a step towards improving the dynamic performance.

In addition, the model will be available also in F Sport package that will include sports-themed exterior and interior design elements and sportier driving dynamics. Both versions will be available on the European market later this year. In addition to this Lexus’s full range of F Sport full hybrid models will be on show at the Motor Show.

Furthermore, what also will be exclusively shown in Geneva is the Opal Blue Lexus LF-LC 2+2 Hybrid Sports Coupe Concept. It includes fully driver-focused interior and expresses a totally new sporting image. Here is also present brand’s innovative design language: large spindle grille arrangement and rear architecture, which fuse distinctive style with engineering functionality.

The concept introduces the use of lightweight carbon fibre and a next generation full hybrid powertrain. This provides a great platform for the next generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system which includes a new high-energy battery pack. The latter is designed to generate greater power from a unit that is smaller than those used in Lexus’s current full hybrid model range. With its help the car generates a maximum of 500 hp (372kW) and this means that it has more power than any other Lexus’ hybrids.

  • Lexus LF-LC Blue Concept Revealed in Sydney

Lexus-LF-LC-Blue-Concept-THUMBThe new Lexus LF-LC Blue Concept has just been revealed by the brand conveying pure sports style and exceptional performance. The sports coupe concept was presented to the general public for the first time at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney.

Car’s lustrous Opal Blue finish is inspired by the natural base color of the Australian gemstone. In fact the LF-LC combines advanced technologies and materials with an organic design that points to styling cues that will influence future Lexus sports models.

To go further into details, the concept pioneers in the utilization of lightweight carbon fibre and the next generation of Lexus’s industry-leading full hybrid powertrain. The “marriage” between carbon fibre and aluminium alloy materials used in the construction results in light body mass.

Another advantage is that these details provide great platform for the next generation Lexus Hybrid Drive system. Dubbed Advanced Lexus Hybrid Drive, it features a new, high-energy battery pack designed to generate greater power from a unit that is smaller than those used in Lexus’s current full hybrid model range.

The full petrol-electric system is able to produce a maximum 500 hp (372kW) and this means that this is more power than any other Lexus hybrid. Another conclusion we can make is that this LF-LC Blue demonstrates what the future may hold for sports cars.

  • Lexus Teasing Hybrid Concept

Lexus-Coupe-Concept-Australia-thumbLexus-Coupe-Concept-Australia-mediumThe Australian International Motor Show will witness the reveal of a Lexus hybrid concept. Not your eveeyday boring hybrid that is. More like a 370+ kilowatt, all-wheel drive coupe. Just when you think we’ve seen the Lexus supercar Future, they slap us in the face with something new.

Actually, this one (whatever it will be called) is a followup project that stems from the Lexus LF-LC Hybrid Concept that we saw back in Detroit, and we have nothing but praise for that one.

“We’ve pulled out all stops this year to secure a world first for Australia,” said Mr Cramb. “The Lexus concept is an absolutely stunning vehicle and is set to be one of the drawcards of the show.”

“The concept will highlight Lexus’ design and engineering expertise – marrying design with function to deliver a glimpse into the future of supercars,” he added.

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held this October and is expected to gain significant media attention thanks to surprise appearances such as this one.

  • Lexus LF-LC Sports Coupe Concept New Pictures

We have had one or two teasers about the Lexus LF-LC but now, a week before its debut, two new official, real-life pictures are on the loose. We still cannot report on any technical data except that it will bring “driving performance and fuel efficiency” to the world because we are talking about a hybrid. Even the branding on the sides suggests so.

Other than that, it just looks amazing, and slippery, and sleek. The front grille is big enough to pass as an industrial fishing net while various air inlets (for cooling the brakes presumably) shyly peak out from the curves of the body. Inside the squiggly lines of the interior are overwhelming and so are the seats which look like leather coated battle droids borrowed from the set of Star Wars.

It’s nice to see Lexus trying to break away from their well established image of boring-luxury-Toyota-producers. With that futuristic piece of art they are sure to freshen up next week’s NAIAS in Detroit.

  • Lexus Concept Named LF-LC Sports Coupe

Last week we had more speculations and less facts about the forthcoming Lexus concept which will be revealed on the NAIAS in Detroit in mid January.

Today however we are making progress by having a full view on what Lexus say will be the LF-LC 2+2 Sports Coupe Concept. It’s design, they say, is made from scratch implementing “organic shapes to achieve a close connection between driver and car”.

We certainly like it and if it ends up actually being built as a production vehicle, Lexus will be able to confidently plow ahead in the world of sports cars.
