  • Fourth Generation Lexus RX Debuts in Europe

Lexus RX Front ViewLexus RX in its fourth generation form is going to be revealed at thee Frankfurt Motor Show on September 15. Next to it, Lexus will also present for the first time the European appearance of the revised GS and GS 200t.

    A Little Bit of History

Since its appearance on the market, the RX has become one of Lexus’ best selling vehicles. The popular SUV was introduced in 1999 and for 16 years around 2.2 million examples have been sold worldwide. This also means that three out of every ten Lexus vehicles sold have been an RX.

    The Newest Lexus RX

There isn’t a lot said about the new RX, but the good news is that we have a picture (the one above). The image shows that the fourth gen RX has a posture that combines sharp edges and curves. It seems that Lexus has succeeded in making car’s new design an effortless evolution of the previous generation that also shares the new design philosophy of the brand with other Lexus models.

  • Lexus Adds More Safety and Luxury to LS and GS Range

New updates for the Lexus large sedan range have been happening lately. The company has added new on-board and safety technology and even more, it has also enhanced the chassis rigidity of the models. For instance, the LS and GS models benefit from the adoption of Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA). They also get ENFORM connected mobility services and SD card-based navigation as well as dual USB ports.

The SD card-based navigation alerts drivers to speed and red light cameras and school zones, while the RCTA function uses the Blind Spot Monitor (BSM) radar system to detect vehicles approaching from behind and then alerts the driver via visual and audible warnings.

LS and GS also get better chassis stiffness due to the utilization of high rigidity glass and new adhesives. Precisely, the A-pillar of all GS models has been re-engineered and is now stiffer.

In addition, the latter model also benefits from the premium Mark Levinson audio system. It does not come as a standard, except for the GS 350 F model, but it is rather an available option. Unlike the GS range, the LS receives the Mark Levinson system as a standard.

In addition, LS models can also show-off with new LED interior dome lights. All GS models get a new exterior color called Titanium Silver that replaces the Elysium Blue.

  • Lexus Announcing new F-High-Performance Model. Could it be a GS F?

Lexus just teased with couple of images its addition to the F-high-performance range. This is the second vehicle that will be added to company’s growing stable of F cars. Earlier this year the luxury automaker unveiled the brand new RC F and announced that it will debut at 2015 Auto Show in Detroit. This is where we will also see the reveal of a new F model. In particular, it is scheduled for 13th of January, so don’t expect it earlier.

RC F is expected to be launched in February next year. It is powered by a 5.0-litre, 32-valve V8 engine. This unit was specifically created for the car. It is linked to a calibrated eight-speed Sports Direct Shift transmission thanks to which it can help the sports vehicle achieve an impressive 450 hp (330 kW) and 520 Nm (384 lb-ft).

Besides this information and the two photos, the Japanese brand did not disclose anything else. We are wondering whether this is a more extreme version of the RC F or a brand new one. Rumors suggest that the car is likely to be based on the GS line-up.

Judged by the pictures, the highly-probable GS F features new headlights and boomerang-shaped DRLs. There is also a more masculine front bumper and multi-spoke lightweight alloy wheels finished in black. Underneath them we see oversized brakes. We also see that Lexus added carbon-fiber bits.
