  • Lexus team gains more and more confidence. What more should we expect?

So, When Can We Expect the Hydrogen Lexus?

Now that right there is a question that many in the automotive industry and automotive journalism industry has been discussing and wondering for quite some time. When will we get to look at this groundbreaking technology that Lexus has been working on for some time? Will it be worth the wait? How will it be designed, and most of all how will the consumer base accept or decline it?

Let us answer a couple of these questions for you quickly. Let us start off with the Why? Why would they create this vehicle? Reason it simple, the whole automotive industry is making this shift towards fuel efficiency and corporate responsibility to combat climate change and carbon emissions.

Another reason for this choice to create a Hydrogen technology based vehicle, is simply to give them a one up on a very competitive segment, which is the luxury sedan models. BMW right now is the only other major automakers in the luxury segment that has made any progressive changes for environmentally friendly vehicle design. Even so they have just made new models, instead of trying to adapt one of their more popular models.

Next question; how will it work exactly? Well no one really knows the exact science of the vehicle yet, because that hasn’t been released for obvious reasons. All we do know is that the LS model will have some autonomous features, an electric powered motor driving the rear wheel and then sending that power equally to the front, to give the vehicle balance and stability in terms of distribution of power.

Much like the LF-FC concept they showed in Tokyo in 2015, there will be two modes likely; cruise mode for which it will allow the driver to recharge their battery as it continues to drive, then an acceleration mode that will use more power but provide greater acceleration and speed. A great sense of give and take with its technology that is quite revealing of the future of this industry.

Last question, when will it be available. Right now, all that is known, is that it will be showcased sometime in 2017, then likely be available sometime in 2019. They will likely provide a standard drive system with the same design changes they showoff in 2017 for which they will be selling in early 2018 at local Lexus dealers like Len Stoler, just won’t include the hydrogen power technology quite yet.

So, we must wait and see what happens in the coming year. But the exciting aspect of all this, is that we will start to see more technological breakthroughs in the automotive industry in 2017 and 2018. Specifically, the autonomous vehicles.

The vehicle is especially designed and based on the IS F CCS-R model, that competed at Pikes Peak back in 2013. The event itself is really popular and in its core is a race battle with the clock. But along with the best times, the judges will also choose the winner and for his abilities. Reaction, confidence and smooth ride are also part of the competition.

But the RC F GT Concept is not only a competition vehicle. It also represents a pivotal piece of the Lexus F, along with the upcoming GT3 program. • Lexus Teases New Concept Vehicle Ahead Of Frankfurt Premiere

lexus-concept-THUMBLexus has just announced that it is going to stage the world premiere of a new concept vehicle at the 2013 Frankfurt Motor Show. Next to this announcement, the brand also published the first teaser image of the forthcoming car.

The picture focuses on part of the front of the concept, revealing how its headlights will look like. The details around the vehicle are scarce so far and we will probably have to wait until September, when more will be unveiled.

Furthermore, next to the new concept there will be displayed full hybrid GS 300h saloon, which will be presented for the first time in Europe. This car will be introduced in the markets by the end of the year.

In fact, Lexus GS 300h offers low emissions and high fuel efficiency with refined and comfortable performance. It has a rear-wheel drive and is equipped with a 2.5-litre four-cylinder Atkinson cycle petrol engine. The unit develops 223 hp (164kW).

  • Lexus LF-CC Concept at the Paris Motor Show

After the unveiling of Lexus‘ award-winning hybrid 2+2 sports coupe concept, the LF-LC at the 2012 Detroit Motor Show and its European debut at the Geneva Motor Show, a new, mid-sized coupe concept, the LF-CC makes its World Premiere at the 2012 Paris Motor Show. The manufacturer is actually trying to take a huge part of the market with its innovative and interesting model.

The more compact, rear-wheel drive, full hybrid LF-CC already integrates various design cues from the LF-LC; a first illustration of how concept cars are truly influencing future Lexus models and, in this instance, future D-Segment derivatives.

Announcing the launch of a premium mid-sized coupe in the more accessible D-segment in the near future, the LF-CC reinforces Lexus‘ commitment to create more engaging, inspirational vehicles through attractive design, a superior driving experience and advanced technologies.

The exterior is just spectacular. It boasts the signature Lexus ‘spindle’ grille, which is framed by the bonnet lip, deep lower spoiler and powerfully projecting front fender tips. A unique, 3 LED-projector headlamp design is housed in the narrow gap between the lower and upper fender surfaces, without a conventional, one-piece cover. Independent Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are fully integrated into the upper bumper surface to complete this unique new design.

The interior is also exceptional. There are two distinct zones of the dashboard called “Display Zone” and “Operation Zone”.

The first one has a multi-display screen installed on the upper side while below the second zone provides access to the shift lever and also for the touch tracer display for the remote system control.

Representing a new Lexus powertrain for future production, the LF-CC is equipped with an all-new, highly efficient, 2.5 litre full hybrid powertrain delivering a combination of the engaging performance appropriate to a sporting, D-segment coupe and low CO2 emissions, targeted below 100 g/km. This powertrain will achieve class-leading energy efficiency, with more than 2 hp produced per gram of CO2.

This Lexus Hybrid Drive powertrain features an all-new, ultra-smooth running, 2.5 litre 4-cylinder petrol engine mated to a compact, high-output, water-cooled permanent magnet electric motor.

Adapted specifically for the hybrid powertrain, the all-new 2.5 litre, DOHC, 4-cylinder petrol engine benefits from several technical improvements. It adopts the Atkinson cycle and D-4S direct injection technology to optimise both the power and fuel-efficiency benefits of Lexus Hybrid Drive.

Lexus will introduce this new hybrid powertrain into its model range in the near future.

  • Lexus Teasing Hybrid Concept

Lexus-Coupe-Concept-Australia-thumbLexus-Coupe-Concept-Australia-mediumThe Australian International Motor Show will witness the reveal of a Lexus hybrid concept. Not your eveeyday boring hybrid that is. More like a 370+ kilowatt, all-wheel drive coupe. Just when you think we’ve seen the Lexus supercar Future, they slap us in the face with something new.

Actually, this one (whatever it will be called) is a followup project that stems from the Lexus LF-LC Hybrid Concept that we saw back in Detroit, and we have nothing but praise for that one.

“We’ve pulled out all stops this year to secure a world first for Australia,” said Mr Cramb. “The Lexus concept is an absolutely stunning vehicle and is set to be one of the drawcards of the show.”

“The concept will highlight Lexus’ design and engineering expertise – marrying design with function to deliver a glimpse into the future of supercars,” he added.

The 2012 Australian International Motor Show will be held this October and is expected to gain significant media attention thanks to surprise appearances such as this one.

  • Lexus Concept Named LF-LC Sports Coupe

Last week we had more speculations and less facts about the forthcoming Lexus concept which will be revealed on the NAIAS in Detroit in mid January.

Today however we are making progress by having a full view on what Lexus say will be the LF-LC 2+2 Sports Coupe Concept. It’s design, they say, is made from scratch implementing “organic shapes to achieve a close connection between driver and car”.

We certainly like it and if it ends up actually being built as a production vehicle, Lexus will be able to confidently plow ahead in the world of sports cars.

  • New 2012 Lexus Concept

new 2012 lexus concept thumbAs we have already announced – Lexus has revealed last week a new concept for a new vehicle that will debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit at 13:25 PST (22:25 CET) on 9th of January, 2012. Today the company has released a second teaser, this time giving a sneak peak at the interior of the new Lexus design concept. The interior was created by Calty, which is Lexus’ design studio in Newport Beach, California. As you can see, design is more than luxurious with smooth lines and curves, and fine leather all around. It is definitely eye-catching and breathtaking.

And having in mind the first teaser (an image of the exterior), this concept vehicle will surely be a sports car with sharp and aggressive lines.

  • Lexus Has New Concept In Mind

Lexus has announced (teased) that a new concept will be unveiled on the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. One thing is for sure – it is styled by Calty which is the company’s design studio in Newport Beach, California. Also Lexus has released this teaser pick on which we can only guess. It certainly looks like a sports car.

Needless to remind you that back in 2010, the company tried to break away from its comfort and luxury image by stunning the world with the Lexus LFA. It was very impressive with a 4.8 litre engine developing more than 550bhp. So small wonder that now Lexus is planning to continue the trend.

What we see here are some sharp, aggressive lines that form a low, extended nose. Naturally there is some carbon fibre visible right along a massive opening which supposedly will cool down the brakes. Just a patch of the front grille can be seen but enough to assume that it will provide proper airflow to the engine

    Lexus Concept (teased)
    Lexus Concept (teaser)

Speculators see resemblance to the Toyota GT-86, while others predict this will be the replacement of the Lexus SC. Whatever it is, if it turns out to be nearly as good as the LFA, Lexus will be one step closer to the performance Valhalla.

More information is expected next week.
