Land Rover Shows Trio of Defender Limited Editions [VIDEO]

Land Rover is closing one chapter and opening a new one in the Land Rover Defender life. In order to celebrate its iconic modals, the automaker creates three bespoke special editions named: Heritage, Adventure and Autobiography. Each of them highlights a specific aspect of the Defender’s nature, while conveying a sort of individualism, distinguishable sophistication and breadth of character.

To start with, Land Rover Heritage Edition takes its inspiration from early Land Rover models and embodies “nostalgic design cues with modern creature comforts.” It comes with a Grasmere Green paintowork contrasted by a white roof. This model is further defined by a heritage grille and HUE 166 graphics as a recollection of the registration plate of the first pre-production Land Rover called “Huey”. Its production will be limited to 400 units in the UK in August with a starting price of £27,800.

The exclusive Defender Autobiography version unleashes better performance, luxury and convenience than before. It has duo-tone paintjob, full Windsor leather upholstery and an improved power output from 122 HP (90 kW) and 360 Nm (265 lb-ft) to 150 HP (110 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). The Defender Autobiography Editions will be available in the UK from April. 80 units will be produced exceptionally as a 90 Station Wagon. The starting price is that of £61,845.

Lastly, the Land Rover Defender Adventure Edition is designed for people who enjoy the great outdoors and like the free-spirited attitude of the Defender which allows them to go whenever they want and do whatever they want too. It is equipped with an extra underbody protection and Goodyear MT/R tires which enhance the all-terrain capabilities of this madness on four wheels. What makes the Adventure model stands out is the use of unique decals and a leather-trimmed cabin. There are going to be 600 Adventure Editions in the UK in August, priced at £43,495.

Honoring the Defender’s story, Land Rover has created the largest sand drawing ever made in the UK.

Range Rover Sport SVR Tested to the Limit [VIDEO]

This year Range Rover Sport SVR has been crowned “The fastest Land Rover” ever produced, due to the blistering performance it shows. Land Rover has just released a film, which shows the adjustability, poise and body control of the model. The video can be viewed below. In it you will see how the Range Rover is put through its paces. The dramatic film shows how Mike Cross, the Chief Engineer at Jaguar Land Rover, demonstrates the aforementioned qualities of the vehicle. Oh, and we forgot to say that this Land Rover is not only the fastest ever produced in company’s line-up, but also the most powerful one.

In the footage below, you will also see how and hear Cross’ explanations of sophisticated drivetrain and advanced four-wheel drive chassis technology of the Sport SVR. They make it possible for the vehicle to deliver exceptional high speed handling characteristics. And all of this happens at the Rockingham circuit in the UK.

The SVR has been created by Jaguar Land Rover’s Special Vehicle Operations team. It is driven by the V8 petrol engine that produces 550 horsepower (404 kW) and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to these “horses”, the car can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.5 seconds.

As this video shows how the Range Rover Sport SVR takes the level of performance in its stride. It displays great on-the-limit balance, even when its range of electronic traction and stability aids are turned off.

Kahn Reveals Volcanic Grey Range Rover Evoque RS Sport

The latest tuning by Kahn Design features one of the most wanted urban SUVs, and it is the Range Rover Evoque. The car is finished in Volcanic Grey Satin exterior paint scheme and it is one of the main characteristics that differentiate it from the factory models. In addition, the exterior of the Evoque also received aggressive carbon fibre units that replaced the front and rear bumpers. At the rear, there is an integrated matte black diffuser and stainless steel cross-hair exhaust tips.

Furthermore, the fascia also go new LED daytime running lights as well as 3-D grille with a matte black mesh and sump guard. Each side of the vehicle was additionally adorned by piano black door handles and mirrors stand out as well as matte black side vents.

Reviewing again the back, we see on this Range Rover new roof spoiler, lower trunk spoiler with matte black lip, and a tailgate trim. New Kahn lettering on the hood and tailgate round out the package.

The Evoque is driven by a 2.2 litre turbo diesel engine. It is capable of a total of 420 Nm (310 lb-ft), which is sent directly to all four Matt Gun Metal RS-600 wheels. They come in the size of 8.5″ x 22″ and are coupled with 275x40x20″ tyres.

Behind those wheels we see callipers and a set of lowering springs. The latter minimize the ride height by 20 mm. What is left to be mentioned regarding the exterior is the twin crosshair exhaust system in stainless steel.

Inside, the vehicle received custom upholstery on the seats. The material used was perforated black nappa leather, which is also to be found on the centre glove box. In contrast, the transmission tunnel and headliner is available with woven contrast stitching. A diamond gear selector, red gauges, machined and vented aluminium pedals and discreet Kahn branding is what’s left untold here.

Kahn Reveals Range Rover Sport RS300 in Fuji White

Kahn-Range-Rover-Sport-RS300-TUHMB This week the specialists at A. Kahn Design have prepared for us another exciting project on a Range Rover. This time the designation of the vehicle is Sport 3.0 TDV6 which after the tuning adds RS300. The exterior paint color is new and it is called Fuji White. Just in concert with winter, this color makes the SUV look clean, soft and elegant. And of course – more individual. The exterior also got several modern styling modifications besides the new paint. They complement the luxurious interior.

At the front we see a new spoiler flanked by two vertical LED daytime running lights. They were incorporated into the extended fenders. In addition, a 3-D mesh kit sits inside the RS grille and below a large “KAHN” badge. The latter is positioned at the front of the hood.

The sills, door handles, fixed side steps and fender vents are also new and they decorate each side of the SUV. They flow towards the rear where we see widened fenders. At the back of the car there is a special tailgate logo and privacy glass rear windows.

This Range Rover runs on new alloys dubbed Kahn RS600. Their dimensions are 9.5×22 at the front and 11×22 at the rear. Behind them new liquid ref brake callipers are visible.

The cabin is adorned by a special leather interior with Carbon trim which combines a mix of luxury and sports features. This design scheme decorates the dashboard and fascia whilst quilted and perforated black leather with contrasting stitching adorn all of the seats.

The same leather design is to be seen on the door panel tops with quilted and perforated stitching, while the instrument binnacle and glove box feature quilted leather. Below sit black charcoal floor mats, stainless steel door entry sill plates and vented and machined aluminium foot pedals.

LARTE Desing’s Winner Project on Range Rover Sport

The relatively new tuning company called Larte Design is read to show us its next project dubbed the Winner. It is based on the Range Rover Sport and just like AC Schnitzer’s M4 it will be premièred at the Essen Motor Show. The tuners have given this SUV a very aggressive and dynamic face. Just take a look at the unique front guard, which is a real factor when it comes to individuality. It is characterized by three trapezoid frames. Additionally, if you take a closer look than you will find out that there are fine blue demarcation lines there. These blue styling elements can be found at other places and undoubtedly lend this design package more artistic expression.

The various polygons, air inlets and light-steps make the bumper appear very tough. The central part there stands out from the white sides in black, due to its large air grids. The latter visually break up the front’s monolithic appearance, thus contributing for more dynamism and sportiness.

We can’t go further without mentioning the LED daytime running lights, which were delivered by Nolden. From the front, the eye wanders along the black “sport band”, which extends the roof and connects it with the rear.

Furthermore, fine, horizontal lines in a contrasting dark shade lend the rear more muscular appearance. The small spoiler fins and fine air inlets loosen up the design. This tuning becomes dynamic via the boomerang-shaped grids on the sides, stretching into the wings.

There is also a black lower part, characterized by irregular polygons, which is the home of the four-pass Remus exhaust system. The system features black-chrome-plated tail. At last, there is the central LED brake light, which is something like a hallmark of large Larte Desing’s SUVs. Oh, we have missed the glossy black alloy wheels.

Land Rover Reveals U.S. Specifications for 2015 Discovery Sport

The U.S. specifications for the 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport were just revealed. The car is debuting in North America today at the L.A. Auto Show. Just like the European version, this Discovery Sport comes offering dynamic design with the option of seven-passenger seating in a “5+2” configuration. To mention also are the refined combination of performance, safety and efficiency.

This is due to the body shell of high-strength steel and lightweight aluminum, combined with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and standard all-wheel drive. The unit produces 240 horsepower (176 kW) and is linked to a nine-speed automatic transmission, which makes the car not only more efficient but also more attractive.

Land Rover will also enter innovations on this vehicle, including available Autonomous Emergency Braking and touchscreen infotainment system. The arsenal of technology in this model also features the latest Terrain Response with five different settings to suit specific terrain demands. These include general driving, grass/gravel/snow, sand, mud and ruts, and rock crawl.

Land Rover LR4 will also be on display. It will bring more attention to the recently commissioned Land Rover adventure thriller The Vanishing Game, which is an interactive, digital book written by internationally acclaimed British author William Boyd.

Guests of the show will have an opportunity to drive the 2014 Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Evoque and Land Rover LR4. 2015 Land Rover Discovery Sport U.S. Spec will have a starting price of $37,995 USD.

Kahn Shows Second Autobiography LWB Performance Edition in Fuji White

Fuji White is the name of the colour of A. Kahn Design’s next project on the Range Rover Autobiography LWB. What we also get with this tuning is not only a cool exterior paint, but also the exclusive interior and other tweaks, which have lead to the addition of “Performance Edition” to the name of the car. First to mention is the included RS-600 aerodynamic styling package. It comprises of a 16-piece wide wheel arch kit that adds an aggressive stance and muscular presence.

The front also received grille with 3D mesh, which is a typical element for almost all Kahn modifications. In contrast to the exterior color is the roof which is painted in piano black. In the same shade are decided also the mirror caps.

Kahn enamel wing shields and the RS-600 front and rear wide wheel arches with integrated air dams also contribute for the tailored style of this SUV. The shoes this Range Rover has are 9.5 x 23″ RS wheels in matt black fitted with 305/30/23″ tyres. Carbon side vents and a RS600 front chin spoiler rounds out the car from the outside.

Going further, the interior consists of handstitched front and rear seats, centre glove box, centre dashboard surround and Kahn single spoke leather steering wheel. Not to forget the rev counter facia, dashboard and instrument binnacle. What they have in common is that they are all adorned in copper orange quilted and perforated Nappa leather.

If you look even more carefully, then you’ll definitely see the vented foot pedals in machined aluminium, door entry sill plates in stainless steel and the Kahn branding. Again the tuning team has done great work!

Land Rover SVO and Holland & Holland Reveal the Most Luxurious and Expensive Range Rover Ever

Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) in collaboration with British gun-maker company Holland & Holland have unveiled a special edition of the Range Rover which is thought of as the most expensive and most luxurious Range Rover ever. Combining eccentric style and bespoke design, this is a car for real connoisseurs. And even though I am not a huge fan of Range Rovers, I have to admit that this one in particular gives me the chills. Especially when I look at the interior.

The previously considered as the most expensive Range Rover Autobiography Black long wheelbase which costs £146,900 is no longer on the top of the price-ladder. It has been uncrowned by the 2015 Range Rover by Land Rover Special Vehicle Operations and Holland & Holland priced at £180,000. Sitting on the throne, the special 2015 Range Rover is said to be distinguishable since it encapsulates demonstratively excellent off- and on-road performance as well as splendor and workmanship. The Holland & Holland Range Rover arrives with an option of powertrains. There is a diesel-powered 4.4-litre SDV8, which delivers 339 HP (252 kW) and a 510PS petrol-powered 5.0-litre V8 Supercharged engine.

Thanks to the professional skills and effort of Holland & Holland, the new Range Rover shines with one of a kind bodywork, mirrors and bonnet vent. The grille is painted in the same intensive and saturated green color and has chrome highlights. In addition, Holland & Holland badging is placed on the lower accent door badges of both long and standard wheelbase versions and on the tailgate too.

The interior, though, is what strikes the most. If perfectness was a physical thing, then, 2015 Range Rover has got it! On the inside the vehicle benefits from soft tan and espresso leather upholstery including Holland & Holland embroidery placed on the front seats. The sides of the transmission tunnel are trimmed in a similar leather too. In order to complete this craftsmanship, there is a sustainably-sourced French walnut veneer that is carefully polished in order to resemble the oil-finished gunstocks produced by Holland & Holland. To mark this, their logo is inlaid into the front center console. The car’s woodwork is made from a single huge piece of walnut, 1500mm long by 500mm wide, to ensure that every veneer is perfectly matched. A final touch adds the deployable loadspace floor which is engineered from aluminum and carbon fiber with a leather and wood veneer finish.

Water, Mud and Adrenaline: Test-driving the Range Rover Sport

What is the best way to test if a Range Rover Sport is really a Range Rover and if it is really Sport? Well, there is nothing better than driving it through mud, water, curvy roads and hills so steep that they seem to only be there to test the theory of gravity. The mark of a proper Range Rover will definitely survive such bumps on the road. Literally.In the video, the first part is dedicated to off-road driving test. The expert from Top Gear, Richard, takes the Range Rover Sport and puts it through a variety of challenges in order to argue its Range Rover qualities. The results are astounding for the car is able to tackle all sorts of off-road provocations. Mud? Ponds of water? Slopes? Not a problem at all. The performance is beyond excellent thanks to the dynamic stability control and the next generation Terrain Responses System which automatically adjust and optimizes the settings of the vehicle in order to fit the ground surface perfectly. As Richard comments; “I feel like I’m driving a luxury hotel room through a swamp.”The sporty bit of it and its on-road dynamics are tested by speeding up the car at the Donington Park Racing Circuit. Powered by V8 5.0-litre supercharged petrol engine with 510 HP, it offers improved fuel economy of 13.8l/100km and CO₂ emissions of 321g/km. Just like the off-road performance, the on-road one is proven to be equally good. The driving feels all natural and stable. The Range Rover is able to cover every corner without the slightest difficulty. The Sport seems to have everything in order and works just fine. Setting a lap time of 1:29.5 seconds which beats the lap time of 1:29.8 seconds set by the Mini John Cooper GP, one thing is for sure then; Range Rover Sport is really a Range Rover and is really Sport.It is yes and yes for the Range Rover Sport!httpv://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWL-r72tGOE

Kahn and Chelsea Truck Company Makeover for Land Rover Defender SVX

The rock-solid Land Rover Defender has once again fallen in the hands of A. Kahn Design and Chelsea Truck Company to get a makeover. Both tuning companies say that this custom Defender is for “those who like to drive in a suitably presidential manner” and we are to agree with them. Follow our thoughts to understand why. The revamped vehicle features a wide range of accessories and styling features which lend it more aggressive and at the same time luxurious stance. At the front and rear we see wide wings with vents and bolt apertures.

The wheel arches have been extended and they perfectly harmonize with the new bumper sump guard, mesh side and top bonnet vents, mud flaps, paint roll bars and side steps in matt black. In general, the body of this Land Rover is covered with santorini black paint finish.

Not to mention the cross-hair military headlights, the fog lamps from A. Kahn Design and the X-Lander front grille. All they command is attention and they deserve it. The vehicle runs on Volcanic Black Mondial wheels in 9.0 x 20” fitment with 275 x 55 x 20 tyres. We have missed to mention the crosshair exhaust system that additionally gives this 60th anniversary Defender SVX Edition a rugged look.

Unlike most tuners, A. Kahn Design is famous for its generously equipped custom interiors. Consequently, this Defender benefits from front racing seats in black quilted nappa leather with Harris Tweed Inserts and silver contrast stitching. Firm cushioning in the form of Harris Tweed inserts improves the overall comfort, too.

The tuning inside continues with black door panels, dashboard and centre glove box in black quilted nappa, both with Harris Tweed inserts, and silver contrast stitching. Those who are looking carefully at the pictures below will also see the, Churchill time clock and speedo/rev counter facia in red, the Kahn billet steering wheel, the centre console facia in matt black, and vented machined aluminium foot pedals.

Land Rover Celebrates Production of First New Discovery Sport Compact SUV

Last month (September 2, 2014) Land Rover revealed their new Discovery Sport compact SUV which is going on sale in early 2015 along with the existing seven-seat Land Rover LR4 in the US. The latter is sold as the Discovery in over 170 markets around the world. Now the first production Discovery Sport has set off Land Rover’s production line in Halewood, UK. The SUV will make its way to Virgin Galactic’s headquarters in order to be used by the team there while they still proceed with the preparations for the launch of the most versatile and capable premium compact SUV worldwide.

Discovery Sport is the first model of the new Discovery Family. With its bold design it sets the tone for a different and innovative generation of Land Rover. Its roomy cabin allows space for seven passengers, thus in a 5+2 configuration. It is quite larger than the previous 5-seat premium SUV models.

Nevertheless, what is interesting about the new Discovery Sport SUV is that it successfully manages to combine the two most significant characteristics of SUVs in this range – the SUV not only has a good visual conception but it also offers spatial comfort which makes it an ideal family vehicle.

As Murray Dietsch, Director of Land Rover, has stated during a ceremony at the Land Rover Halewood plant; “The new car embodies Land Rover’s spirit of Above and Beyond, so it’s fitting that it will be used by a similarly pioneering company in Virgin Galactic.” The vehicle, then, was received by Stephen Attenborough, Commercial Director of Virgin Galactic, with whom Land Rover created a partnership earlier this year.

The 2015 Discovery Sport will definitely demonstrate a highly refined performance quality, safety and efficiency. The vehicle will debut in U.S. at the Los Angeles Auto Show the up-coming November.

LUMMA Design has Prepared Stunning CLR R Conversion Kit for the Range Rover LWB

LUMMA Range Rover CLR R is unique not only because the tuners have done an exceptional work, but also because they are the first to offer a broad-build body kit for the Range Rover Long Wheelbase (LWB). At the front, the new look of the vehicle is characterized by a powerful front spoiler bumper with awe-inspiring air inlets. There are also the LUMMA-typical LED-double daytime running lights and double headlights just above the lane.

Furthermore, the designers have given this Range Rover a new front grille and a full-carbon sport look motor cowl with central air exhaust openings. At the rear we see the same design philosophy applied on the rear bumper which includes an integrated diffusor. The latter can be removed in just a few steps so that any trailer coupling present can be used.

Next, two trapezoid chrome end tube covers of the “Supersound” sports exhaust system can be seen to the right and left of the diffusor. They were mounted into the LUMMA Design rear apron cleanly and accurately.

At the back, LUMMA has also introduced new lamps, which now feature large white elements. As an available feature, the tuning team is offering a distinctive roof spoiler, which creates extra down-force at the rear axle of the heavy-weight.

This modified Range Rover also runs on new wheels, namely – the LUMMA CLR 22 rims in the size of 12×22 inch all around. They were coupled with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta SUV-tyres in the size of 305/35R22.
