  • Lamborghini Urus S

Automobili Lamborghini announces the Urus S[1]: the successor to the original Urus that established a new Super SUV niche in the luxury segment. The Urus S delivers increased power combined with luxurious versatility and presence to confirm its status as the ultimate lifestyle Lamborghini Super SUV, alongside the new Urus Performante[2] for those seeking maximum sports performance.

“The Urus has proven its appeal for those seeking the decisive combination of the sportiest SUV and a Lamborghini to drive every day: the Urus S sits perfectly alongside the new Urus Performante, for those choosing the purest sublimation of performance, luxury and versatility,” said Stephan Winkelmann, Chairman and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “The Urus’ commercial success, with more than 20,000 vehicles produced, is testament to its credentials as the first and enduring Super SUV: the Urus S elevates that reputation.”

    Luxurious and versatile performance

The twin-turbo V8 engine with increased power to 666 CV[3] matches that of the Urus S’ Performante stablemate, delivering an improved weight-to-power ratio of 3.3 kg/CV. Five further style configuration options combine body color, shiny black, and carbon fiber components in shiny and matt finish, allowing markedly individual configurations for the Urus S. A new lightweight carbon fiber painted bonnet comes with matt black air vents, with optional finishes to the vents in gloss black, body color or carbon fiber in shiny or matt finish. An optional visible carbon fiber roof lends an athletic elegance to the new Urus S.

New rear bumper styling affords the Urus S a more streamlined and elegant appearance. A matt black-painted lower part features a new twin-pipe exhaust design in brushed steel as standard, with optional matt or shiny black, or Ad Personam option in bright chrome. New rim options are offered alongside the standard 21” wheel, including 22” Nath rims with titanium matt and diamond polish finish, while 23” Taigete wheels can be selected in bronze and diamond polish alternatives.

The interior of the Urus S is presented with a fully-revised color and trim offer. Both the new Bi-color Sportivo, and a new Bi-color Sophisticated option feature the new Urus Performante stitching pattern. The Bi-color Sportivo delivers a more discreet and stylish use of the complementary color; the Sophisticated black leather trim comes with new contrast color options in conjunction with refined new Blu Leandro and Verde Aura alongside tan, cream and brown. Providing optimum opportunities for owners to specify their Urus S according to their lifestyle, the new color and trim options underline the high-performance credentials of the Urus S while delivering understated and timeless luxury.

Connectivity in the Urus S includes connected navigation, security features and several in-car control services. Services such as Remote Park via the Lamborghini Unica App can also be managed via smartphone integration, with the enhancement of smartwatch controls including the virtual car key function.

  • Lamborghini Urus Performante

Automobili Lamborghini announces the Urus Performante, raising the bar on Super SUV sportiness and performance with design emphases that reflect the new Urus’ prowess on street, track and loose surfaces. The Urus Performante establishes itself on first sight with a new level of powerful styling that asserts the super sports engineering within.

Ahead of its premiere the Urus Performante set a new record in the production SUV category on the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb Road, crossing the finish line at 4302 meters (14,115 ft) in 10:32.064 and beating the previous 2018 record of 10:49.902.

“The Urus Performante takes the supreme performance and distinctive looks of Lamborghini’s ground-breaking Super SUV to the next level, retaining its luxurious versatility and delivering the most engaging driving experience: not only on road but in every environment, distinguished through an alluring design that denotes new benchmarks for driving dynamism in what is already a remarkable car,” says Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini Chairman and CEO. “The Urus set a new standard at its launch, taking Lamborghini’s design DNA and technological talent and delivering the world’s first Super SUV for a new era: the Urus Performante sets the bar even higher for the SUV segment.”

    Designed for performance

The Urus Performante resounds with bold, aeronautical dynamism, from first glance, at every angle: it’s not just from the front that the Performante commands the road. A pure, sharper, more prominent bonnet and bumper design immediately highlights the Performante’s super sports genetics yet retains the Urus’ innate elegance. The Urus Performante’s extensive use of composite materials makes it the car with the highest number of carbon fiber parts in its segment.

“The Urus Performante’s very bold and characterful design perfectly integrates the improved aerodynamics incorporating the front bumper’s air curtain, with significant visual differentiation including the new lightweight carbon fiber engine bonnet and extensive use of carbon fiber throughout reminding of its ‘Performante’ heritage. This benchmarking Urus is designed as a unique driver-oriented Super SUV,” says Mitja Borkert, Head of Design.

With deep cuts in the hood lines down to the new front bumper, the bonnet including air outlet is forged from lightweight carbon fiber in body colour or partially visible carbon fiber as an option. A roof in optional carbon fiber references Lamborghini super sports models such as Huracán Performante and Super Trofeo.

The front bumper and splitter in carbon fiber sport assertive new lines: new black front air-intakes deliver increased engine cooling and maximum expression of the SUV’s super sports heritage. A new air curtain draws airflow over the front wheels, within an aerodynamic design theme that decreases drag the new bonnet’s air outlet contribute to the overall aerodynamics efficiency and helps the engine cooling. The newly-designed rear spoiler, increases rear downforce of the Urus Performante by 38%.

New steel springs lower the Performante’s chassis by 20 mm, with a wheel track that is broader by 16 millimeters, over which wider carbon fiber wheel arches embrace new optional 23” or forged 22” lightweight wheels with titanium bolts and specially developed Pirelli tires.

In profile, the Urus Performante’s lowered stance is accented by its prominent front, and rear wing and bumper, increasing its overall length by 25 mm. The rear of the Urus Performante is equally distinctive by its purposeful high-performance design. A rear spoiler with carbon fiber fins takes design inspiration from the Aventador SVJ and contributes to the increased downforce.

The lower rear bumper and diffuser is also in carbon fiber with a lightweight titanium Akrapovič sports exhaust as standard, developing its characteristic Lamborghini resonance depending on the drive mode selected. The bi-color livery scheme accentuates the dynamism of this Performante model: against the body color, features such as black painted door handles, CFK air outlets over the bonnet and CFK spoiler lip.

Inside, the cockpit features Nero Cosmus black Alcantara as standard with a new hexagonal seat stitching design, the “Performante trim”, and further options including a leather interior. Dedicated color and trim options include extension of the Performante trim on doors, roof-lining, seat backrest and rear wall, with further Ad Personam customization including interior matt carbon fiber details, red door handles, and a customized kickplate with Ad Personam logo. The black Alcantara/leather steering wheel is trimmed in matt black as well as the Aluminum interior trim in black anodized. With the optional “Dark Package”, the matt black treatment can be extended to other interior details including the lever of the Urus’ central ‘TAMBURO’, hosting controls such as the start/stop button and drive mode selector. A new HMI graphic, with a dedicated design for the Urus Performante, features on both the center console screen and in a large arc across the main display.

    Engineered for driving

“The Urus Performante takes to the road as a lightweight, honed athlete. Its muscular stance, distinctive design, V8 twin turbo powerplant and lightweight sports exhaust establish it through sight, sound and experience as the most exciting contender on every road, track and loose surface. This is a super sports car driver’s SUV,” says Rouven Mohr, Chief Technical Officer.

The Performante’s power is increased by 16 CV to 666 CV, and its weight reduced by 47 kg, giving it a best-in-class weight-to-power ratio of 3,2. Accelerating from 0-100 km/h in just 3.3 seconds, and braking from 100 km to standstill in 32.9 m, the Urus Performante produces 850 Nm of torque at 2,300 to 4,500 rpm, with its benchmarking longitudinal abilities including a top speed of 306 km/h matched by its responsiveness, handling and stability. Aerodynamic efficiency is improved, and overall downforce increases by 8%. Torque distribution is optimized thanks to a new differential, delivering a ratio increase from 3.16 to 3.4 in drive conditions and from 3.02 to 3.33 when coasting.

The tires Pirelli P Zero (sizes 285/40 R22 and 325/35 R22) come alongside with an evolution of the Urus Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R: for the first time, the Pirelli semi-slick tire has been developed to meet the characteristics of an SUV, with this particular variant developed in co-operation with Lamborghini. The result of the collaboration is a tire with increased versatility, returning high performance both on dry asphalt with high ambient temperatures and on wet surfaces with colder temperatures.

At the wheel, the Urus Performante allows the driver a new intimacy with the road beneath him, with enhanced agility, feedback and sports orientation. A recalibration of the front wheel steering enhances connection with the road with precise inputs and direct feedback. The rear-wheel steering’s faster intervention increases turn-in agility complemented by torque vectoring of the rear differential both on-road and in off-road mode.

The re-engineered drive modes allow the Urus Performante pilot to select the perfect set-up for every environment: in STRADA, the Urus provides a comfortable and luxurious ride with smooth damping. In SPORT mode the driver enjoys enhanced throttle response, with the rear-wheel steering more agile at low speeds and stable at high speed, with oversteer fun-to-drive characteristics and a faster gear-shift: the sportier chassis set-up including new stiffer steel springs and specific dampers’ tuning, maximizes feedback to engage the pilot in serious driving fun.

In CORSA, the Urus Performante’s race car persona is let loose with supreme handling: high-speed stability, flat cornering supported by the active anti-roll bars and maximum damping, while the sports exhaust reminds those inside and out that this is a Lamborghini built on super sports heritage.

Alongside the standard drive modes, the Urus Performante introduces a new RALLY selection, elevating the Super SUV’s fun-to-drive sportiness to a thrilling new level on dirt tracks. Its oversteer character is amplified with anti-roll and damping systems optimized for steel springs on rough and more extreme surfaces, raising the bar for a new level of Super SUV performance.

The Chinese market will enjoy the technical upgrades delivered by the new Urus Performante, with engine power set at 640 CV for homologation reasons.

  • Lambo team celebrates the production of the 15,000th Urus

2021-Lamborghini-Urus-910A few days after the sales record marked in the first six months of the year with a total of 4,852 vehicles delivered globally, Automobili Lamborghini sets yet another record. Three years after the introduction of the Urus Super SUV, the Italian manufacturer celebrates the 15,000th Urus produced, marking the highest produced model in the company’s history in the shortest period after launch.

The 15,000th Urus rolls off the fabric in Graphite Capsule body finish and is characterized by Grigio Keres Matt and Verde Scandal details. The two-tone color scheme is dedicated to the latest collection in Nero Ade/Verde Scandal.

The Urus features a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that generates a total of 650hp and 850Nm torque. The vehicle also has a 162.7 HP/liter power-to-weight ratio and boasts one of the best power-to-weight ratio at 3.38 kg/HP. Furthermore, Urus is capable of accelerating from 0 to 100 km in 3.6 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 12.8 seconds. The top speed is measured at 305km/h.

Also, the Urus is the fastest car on ice. This peculiar record was set on the icy Lake Baikal in Russia back in March 2021, during the Days of Speed event. With a top speed of 298 km/h and an average speed from a standing start of 114 km/h over 1000 meters, Urus demonstrated excellent performance and exceptional handling in spite of the reduced traction due to the ice and strong gusts of wind.

  • Lambo Urus and Andrey Leontyev set a new record on Lake Baikal

2021 Lamborhini UrusAutomobili Lamborghini participated in the Days of Speed event with its trustworthy Urus Super SUV. The challenge is set on the surface of the frozen Lake Baikal and the vehicle has managed to set a 1,000-meter record, at 114km/h average speed from a standing start.

Driven by the 18-time Days of Speed record-holder Andrey Leontyev, the Urus has managed to score a top speed of 298km/h, despite the notable warming of the ice. During the practice runs, the Super SUV even achieved a maximum speed of 302km/h.

All official data concerning the record will be published later in April.

What we can say at the moment, is that Urus and the driver demonstrated incredible performance and flexibility on the icy surface and managed to regain control in the slippery conditions, wind, and snow.

As it comes to the vehicle itself, the new Urus features a 4.0-liter V8 twin-turbo power unit that delivers a total of 650hp at 6,000rpm and maximum torque of 850Nm at 2,250. The vehicle also comes with 162.7 hp/l, which is considered one of the highest outputs in the class. The vehicle also has an incredible weight-to-power ratio at 3,30kg/hp.

    2021 Lamborhini Urus

This setup allows the Urus to accelerate from 0-100km/h for 3.6 seconds, and from 0-200km/h in 12,8 seconds. The top speed is 305km/h and remains one of the fastest in the SUV segment.

  • Wheelsandmore Lamborghini Urus Tuning

2019 Wheelsandmore Lamborghini Urus Tuning - Side

With 650 horsepower and 850Nm of torque the Urus ranged at the top of all SUV power cars until the Bentayga Speed was launched. Wheelsandmore lifts the Urus back again up to the pole position of this segment and offers 3 different upgrades, which makes a visit to the tuner from the Rhineland not necessary because all components can be installed without costly conversions to the car. All upgrades can be implemented either with an easy to install additional control unit or by remapping the ecu. In Stage 1 the tuner achieves a massive performance boost of additional 125hp and 100Nm of torque. By using 200 cell sport catalytic converters the engine power is increased with another 15hp / 15Nm in stage 2. If the catalysts are exchanged with replacement pipes the power grows to finally 808hp and 972Nm in stage 3. With prices between 2.521 – 5.469 EURO there is certainly still budget available for a throughput-optimized flap exhaust system. The exhaust system for the price of 4.029 EURO.

Like many other manufacturers of sporty vehicles, VAG subsidiary Lamborghini has realized that many customers now want to have the largest possible wheels for an ideal appearance of their vehicle and that those can live with a slight loss of comfort. After in the year 2018 the Urus was available only with maximum 22-inch wheels, it´s offered since 2019 optionally with 23-inch wheels. Therefore, the challenge for the tuner is not only to develop the gear train dimensionally, but also visually appealing than the manufacturer. Wheelsandmore mounted the Continental UHP tires in sizes 295/35/23 and 335/30/23 on forged rims measuring 10.5×23 and 12.0×23 inches to accommodate the original body perfectly without additional parts.

The complete wheel set with TPMS is offered at the price of 9.999 EURO.

With the aid of a plug-and-play module that is easy to install, the driver has the option of setting the chassis height to the millimeter with the help of a smartphone APP. The suspension tuning module, which has already been successfully used in the Audi Q7, can be rewarded with EUR 1.679 at the luxury tuner.

  • It’s Official: Lamborghini SUV is Planned for 2018

We have just received an official statement from Automobili Lamborghini that a luxury SUV is going to be the third model to join the product line-up. However, we will have to wait three years, because 2018 is when the car will be introduced to the market. And if you remember the Urus concept, which was revealed at Auto China three years ago, then you will also have the idea of what the future SUV would look like. Take a good look at the galleries below to get a fresh impression.

Lamborghini aims not only to expand its product range, but to also substantially increase the production capacity of the factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese. In addition, Audi is also planning to invest “hundreds of millions of Euros” over the lifecycle of the new SUV.

SEE ALSO: Lamborghini Urus at 2012 Beijing

For this project to happen, several brands are involved: Volkswagen Group with AUDI AG as Lamborghini shareholder, the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, the Italian national agency for inward investments and economic development (Invitalia), Emilia Romagna Region, the Union Representatives and Automobili Lamborghini.

To produce the new vehicle, Lamborghini will also have to increase the factory area in Sant’Agata Bolognese from 80,000 to 150,000 square meters. What is more, there will be built new facilities, like a production line, warehousing and bigger R&D department, where 500 new employees will work.

The targeted markets for the new SUV will be the USA, China, the Middle East, United Kingdom, Germany and Russia. The vehicle is planned to sell 3000 units of the vehicle annually, which actually is two times company’s current sales performance.

    Who’s excited, too?

  • Eternity Artemis Prototype at Beijing

Eterniti-Artemis-Prototype-thumbIt would seem that Lamborghini won’t be the only company at Beijing to showcase a 600 bhp monstrosity with high ground clearance. Meet London-base Eterniti Motors and their first car ever – The Artemis. They haven’t bothered about fitting in so to speak as they have their own category for it – Super-SUV: “Higher levels of luxury, performance and exclusivity” targeted at wealthy car buyers. We respect honesty.

The Artemis prototype is still in its trial period but Eterniti speculate that it would be out before the ones of Lamborghini, Bentley or Maserati.

Outside every panel is hand-built yet made of carbon-fiber. Well, there are some “crude” patches of chrome here and there but they can’t really ruin the whole thing, can they? Sized 315/25, low profile tires bare the weight of the body and the 23-inch alloy rims that come in several designs.

The engineers at Eterniti have put some extra effort in making the back end of the cabin spacious, luxurious and comfortable. The seats recline, cool or heat themselves, hide a refrigerator and an iPad slot – very executive. The general feel of the whole cabin is self evident – leathers, quilted undercarpets and boot trim, lambswool rugs, veneers of natural wood, piano black and carbon-fiber patterns, state-of-the-art audio system and a choice of several sunroofs for some reason.

Then there’s the real inside. At the center of the Eterniti, beats a 4.8-litre twin-turbo V8 heart that produces 600 bhp and 750Nm of torque. Tests have so far shown that the “Super-SUV” can do a 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 4.5 seconds. Performance and handling have been developed by a race-bred British engineering team led by Alastair Macqueen. He was responsible for the Jaguar XJ220 so you know they are not kidding.

Eterniti have been kind enough to share a price tag as well – China will get a special deal but for the rest of the world, it’s £210,000. So this is where we start losing touch with reality. That sum of money for something that looks like a tricked out Cayenne?! Hmm…

  • Lamborghini Urus at 2012 Beijing

Lamborghini-Urus-Beijing-thumbWhat we see here, is evidence that the world has gone SUV-mad. Lamborghini have brought the heavy artillery to the 2012 Beijing Auto Show with the Urus SUV Concept. We say heavy, but actually, the company claims that the Urus will thrash the other fatties from the segment thanks to their ever-improving craftiness with carbon-fiber composites.

So what’s at the core of this concept? Some might be surprised but this is not Lamborghini’s first venture into the SUV world. It’s their second. Back in 1986 the LM002 was launched which looked like a Hummer on steroids, had 450 bhp and a top speed of 210 km/h. Despite remaining in production until 1992, only 300 units were ever made. Not what you call a commercial success then.

The name behind the new one is in part ironic. Urus (or aurochs) is an extinct species of cattle – a rather majestic and tall looking breed of bulls, ancestors of the modern Spanish Bull. Now, we understand that you can’t name something that looks like a genetically modified Lamborghini Aventador on hoofs after a standard bull but isn’t the fact that the aurochs have been “outdated” sort of a bad sign?

Anyways, Lamborghini are still quiet about what’s under the hood. “Expect something around 600 bhp” is not something we can work with here. Low emission pioneering is also amidst the company’s daring claims, because it will be light they say. But how light can a 5 meter long and 2 meter wide bulk of brawn can be? It sends its power trough trough a permanent AWD system complete with traction control. (which, again, does not sound very light).

Aerodynamics are said to play an important part as well. The suspension is widely adjustable. The front spoiler is also height adjustable so that it can provide a proper ground clearance or add some stability and efficiency on the flat tarmac. The outside features are less than a handful but for a purpose – a minimalist construction. No side view mirrors (cameras inside), no gun turrets and no excess weight. The only thing that sounds too much is the size of the wheels: 24 inches of matte aluminum glory and double spoke design.

Inside the Lamborghini Urus, there is a seating for four (two too many for a Lamborghini to be honest). The carbon fiber diet there is just as relevant as it is for the outside. The center tunnel for example, is an open skeletal carbon fiber structure made from Forged Composite. It’s the backbone of the whole interior and it is only partially clad in leather-upholstered cushioning. The four bucket seats (Forged Composite as well) are also cushioned by a single body. Then, behind the steering wheel, one would find only paddle shifters. So Lamborghini has gone the Ferrari Italia way and placed the indicator storks/buttons somewhere irrelevant. And this is supposed to be an everyday vehicle?

  • Lamborghini Urus Crossover SUV at Auto China 2012

Lamborghini will exhibit the interesting Urus Crossover SUV at the 2012 Auto China in Beijing, next week. The ultimate crossover will be probably powered by a 5.2 liter V10 with 592HP (435 kW), but nothing is mentioned for now.

However, several pictures has been published by autoforum.cz and as we can see, the Urus is astonishing. The design reminds the Aventador J, but with serious clearance and sloping roof. Most of the manufacturers chase the coupe-like profile for their SUVs and Lamborghini is not an exception.

The interior is typical for the new Lamborghini models. It comes with futuristic elements, nice and expensive materials and a lot of gadgets to play with.

Still, this is not the first try of Lamborghini to create an SUV. The LM002 was presented in the late 1980s, but it didn’t have any success, because first – it looked ridiculous and second – the price was ridiculous, too. However, the new Urus is expected to have far greater success, but only the time will show.

Stay tuned for more information about the Urus.
