  • LaFerrari Roadster or how to sell a sports car before officially revealing it

Ferrari is releasing first exclusive images of the upcoming limited special edition

You are now given the chance to witness the birth of a future legend! Ferrari has just revealed the first images of a new limited and special edition series, which is going to be unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September. Besides the exclusive trio of images the Italian super-car company released some specifics about the upcoming model, which is the open-top version of the LaFerrari!

Of course, as you would expect that this variant of the exclusive model is not made for ordinary people. On the contrary, it aims at clients and collectors who refuse to compromise on the joy of what Ferrari calls “al fresco driving”. As a matter of fact, the company will be making strictly limited number of the roadster and all of the available examples have already been sold. And this happens even before the first images of the model were revealed!

Anyway, what we know so far is scarce, but enough to tease our curiosity. The LaFerarri roadster will be offered with not one, but two variants for the top. The first one is a removable carbon-fibre hard top, while the second is the traditional removable soft top.

    LaFerrari Roadster top view

As expected, the model has the same running gear and performance figures as its “older” sibling. Precisely, it will be powered by a V12, which is coupled with a 120 kW electric motor. The total horses are estimated 963 hp, while the Newton meters reach 900! This is absolutely enough for a 0-100 km/h sprint of 2.9 seconds.

Ferrari also said that there have been significant and extensive modifications made to the chassis, so that the roadster could have the same torsional rigidity and beam stiffness as the coupe. In addition, the aerodynamics have been further honed ensuring that there is the same drag coefficient, despite the open-top driving.

Further details, including specifications and the real name of the open-top LaFerrari will be announced in Paris, or few days ahead of the debut there.

  • Lamborghini Aventador, 458 Italia and LaFerrari Share Something in Common

Lamborghini Aventador in Carbon SkinLamborghini Aventador, Ferrari 458 Italia and Ferrari LaFerrari are all Italian-made cars. But this is not the single thing they share in common. If you take a detailed look at our picture gallery below, you will be amazed to find that all three have been made entirely from carbon fibre. How many of you have imagined these in a carbon skin? At least I did, and the experts responsible for these modifications are those at the so called “boutique carbon fibre atelier” Vitesse | AuDessus.

Lamborghini Aventador, 458 Italia and LaFerrari share something in common and it is not the Italian origin.

If you wonder about the meaning of the French words, they stand for “superior speed”. And we are not expecting less, when it comes to the trio especially when it is dressed in pure carbon.

The company specializes in making one-off automotive pieces, and what is more important here is that it is launching its services worldwide, which means that you now have the opportunity of owning such a superhero.

Ferrari 458 Italia has an exterior entirely made of carbon fibre.

As you can see from the images below, the hand-crafted lightweight material has been extensively used. What we can’t see is that it has been also utilized for the interior, many hidden components and the monocoques.

In fact, Vitesse | AuDessus has already worked on creating full carbon fibre bodies for vehicles like the Veyron, McLaren P1 and Porsche 918. However, the trio here literally takes my mind, and I didn’t expect that it is possible to make carbon fibre look so … diverse.

Ferrari LaFerrari in Carbon Fibre Skin

While on the Aventador the material looks more like a foil-wrapping (but it is not), on the LaFerrari and 458 Italia it looks like something innate. The question here is how fast will these Italian supercars accelerate and will they keep their aerodynamic stability. After all, carbon is famous for its use in weight optimization.

No details regarding these concerns were disclosed by Vitesse | AuDessus. But if you are still interested in ordering such a bespoke exterior, expect to be charged at least $200 000 USD. After all luxury and individuality have its price.

  • Ferrari LaFerrari XX Prototype at the Monza Race Track

Here is an awesome video published by NM2255 on Youtube featuring the highly-anticipated Ferrari LaFerrari XX. The hyper-car has been filmed during a test drive on the famous Monza circuit. The model will be limited to just 30 units with pricing starting from somewhere around €2,000,000.

The LaFerrari XX sounds just brilliant and goes extremely fast around the race track. Still, after a few laps, typically for a Ferrari something went wrong and that caused one of the rear tires to go in other direction.

Still, there is no information for the XX model, but it will come with improved aerodynamics, upgraded electronics, a sportier suspension and racing tires. The car will be track-only toy and a very expensive one.

As a reminder, the “normal” 2013 Ferrari LaFerrari is powered by a 6.3 liter V12 with 800HP (588 kW) at 9,250RPM an 700Nm (519 lb-ft) at 6,750RPM. With the help of HY-KERS, the overall power is whopping 963HP and over 900Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7 seconds and 0-300 in breath-taking 15 seconds. A lap around Fiorano race circuit takes just 1 minute and 20 seconds – 5 seconds faster than the Enzo and over 3 seconds faster than the F12berlinetta. The XX model is expected to be a lot faster.

Recently, a tuning company called JMB boosted LaFerrari to 1050HP thanks to an ECU re-map, so we expect the new XX to be at least that powerful.

    Enjoy the impressive sound!

A lap around Fiorano race circuit takes just 1 minute and 20 seconds – 5 seconds faster than the Enzo and over 3 seconds faster than the F12berlinetta.So, the tuning specialists from JMB squeezed another 90HP from the mighty twelve cylinder engine. It is interesting that the overall output matches that of the rumored track-only LaFerrari XX expected to hit the market next year.LaFerrari XX will be limited to just 30 units. Since the “normal” LaFerrari is priced at €1.3 million, we expect the XX version to be something close to €2.0 million, which is sensational. There is no doubt that the manufacturer spends a lot to produce such supercar, but to ask that kind of money for a track-only car is just ridiculous.

  • Design Concept: DMC LaFerrari FXXR

The impressive LaFerrari debuted this year at the Geneva Motor Show. Although the car is only eight months old, this didn’t stop the tuning specialists at DMC to modify it into an even more intimidating hyper exotic road car. The result is the breath-taking DMC LaFerrari FXXR.

As a matter of fact, the LaFerrari is produced in only 499 examples and costs $1,700,000 USD. It is powered by a 6.3 liter V12 engine which produces 800 hp (588 kW) at 9,250RPM an 700 Nm (519 lb-ft) at 6,750RPM. Thanks to the HY-KERS, the overall power is enhanced up to 963 hp and the torque – up to 900 Nm. The acceleration time from 0 to100 km/h is under 3 seconds.

DMC managed to make this Ferrari look a lot more aggressive. The tuners have removed the front the color coded vertical center fin in the bumper as well as the lower one. Two carbon fiber air intakes angled at a V-shape extend the line of the large central air vent on the front hood.

Inside the large bumper, the outer intakes are angled differently and draw more air in. The side of the front bumper now includes vertical fins that stabilize the LaFerrari FXXR at high speeds. What keeps the disc brakes cooled down is the additional intake carved in the sides.

    dmc laferrari fxxr side

Furthermore, the corners of the front bumper get clear carbon fiber ‘canards’, while a smaller air intake is sculpted right in the center of the bumper. To the stylish headlights have been added extra vents, while into the front of the windshield two more intakes are molded into the hood.

At the rear, one can see a massive, clear carbon fiber adjustable rear wing. Here, the original red taillights are replaced and now the LaFerrari sports smoked, black finished units. Of course, DMC also added new exhaust system with four matte black ‘mouths’ and a clear carbon fiber lower diffuser with a four vertical fins.

Behind the side windows are mounted two black winglets which also stabilize the LaFerrari FXXR when the car is driven in high speed. At the roof, the tuners have added additional air intake.

    dmc laferrari fxxr rear

What makes absolute difference to the original sportscar is the classic yellow banner on the windshield. The door inset is now finished in black, while many air intakes and vents are visible in the opening doors. In addition, a quick fuel filler makes is positioned on the side panel while an air vent finds it place right in the crease of the rear panel. The front and rear brakes, the designers equipped with large vents ensuring that the hot air can leave the discs again.

On the road, this vehicle adds style and aggressiveness, and this feeling is additionally enhanced via the track style cross spoke wheels in black. This project was initially created as a design concept. So, it is only a matter of time to understand, whether it will come to reality or stay just a render.

  • Japanese Debut For LaFerrari

laferrari-japan-THUMBLaFerrari is the first hybrid supercar built at Maranello by the iconic Italian brand. The latest member of the limited special edition series has just made its first appearance in Japan last night. It was shown to a group of selected owners and enthusiasts of the brand in an exclusive event in the centre of Tokyo.

The hybrid technology which is utilized in this project is called HY-KERS and it delivers a combination of maximum performance and lower emissions. To be more precise, this Ferrari emits only 330 g/km of CO2 without the use of the electric system. When it is “On”, the full-electric version of LaFerrari achieves just 220 g/km of CO2 emissions on the combined cycle.

To go even further into details, the engine of this vehicle is a 6.3 liter V12 and it generates 800 hp (588 kW) at 9,250RPM an 700Nm (519 lb-ft) at 6,750RPM. Thanks to the HY-KERS, the overall power becomes 963 hp (708 kW) and 900 Nm (664 lb-ft). These numbers simply result in an effortless acceleration time of less than 3 seconds for the sprint from 0 to 100 km/h.

In addition, the guests at the event enjoyed a special exhibition called “Supercar Chronicle” where supercars such as the 288 GTO, the F40, the F50 and the Enzo were presented. The LaFerrari was introduced in an elegant ceremony, which matched the exclusivity of a car of which only 499 examples will be built.

  • 2013 Geneva Motor Show: LaFerrari

Ferrari has announced LaFerrari Limited Series Special at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show. Only 499 will be built of this spectacular sports car.

The model introduces the hybrid system which, making full use of the Scuderia Ferrari’s F1 KERS know-how, has resulted in a solution that exalts Ferrari’s fundamental values – performance and driving thrills.

The hybrid technology used, known as HY-KERS, represents the perfect combination of maximum performance and lower emissions. LaFerrari in fact emits just 330 g/km of CO2 but without resorting to electric-only drive which would not fit the mission of this model.

The HY-KERS system is, however, designed so that in future applications a car can be driven using exclusively electric power for a few kilometres and, during development testing, a full-electric version of LaFerrari achieved just 220 g/km of CO2 emissions on the combined cycle.

    The engine is a 6.3 liter V12 with 800HP (588 kW) at 9,250RPM an 700Nm (519 lb-ft) at 6,750RPM. With the help of HY-KERS, the overall power is whopping 963HP and over 900Nm of torque. 0-100 km/h in under 3 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7 seconds and 0-300 in breath-taking 15 seconds.

A lap time at Fiorano of under 1’20” – 5 seconds faster than the Enzo and over 3 seconds faster than the F12berlinetta. LaFerrari is thus the fastest road car in Maranello’s long history.
