  • You Have to See the KTM X-Bow GT Black Edition Before You Watch the New Batman Movie!

    Wimmer RS KTM X-Bow GT Black Edition Front ViewWimmer RS KTM X-Bow GT Black Edition seems like it has just made a great photo-session in Batman’s lair. Take a look in the gallery below and you’ll get my idea, but… it will be the ultimate batmobile, if Batman wasn’t a protagonist but a real-life superhero. The car is setting absolutely new standards when it comes to defining “fully carbon fiber vehicle” and the reason for this is that its whole body is made of the lightweight material. Literally.

    So basically, it sits on a unique monocoque (well-known from the other X-Bow models) and in addition the car is fitted with components in high-tech carbon fiber like the complete underfloor, the bonnet, and the front and rear body parts as well as the wheel arches and engine covers. By the way, the use of aerodynamically optimized parts has helped in achieving the down-force of a Formula racing car.

    The Design

    And how about the design of this unique Black Edition of the KTM X-Bow GT? First, stepping on the basis of the X-BOW GT, the car features additional details that make it really individual. Precisely, it is equipped with the Sticker Kit, which is located on the side of the monocoque and has one-off color. There is a choice of 18- and 19-inch BBS rims, which are also part of the standard equipment.

    The Interior

    On the inside, the design continues to impress with its detailing and substantial use of carbon fiber. The seats for example are hand-stitched and also include a stamp “BLACK EDITION” on their headrest. Furthermore, the cabin can be proud of suede leather steering wheel with color-coordinated 12-hour markings and matching stitching, right up to the all-aluminum machined gear and hand brake levers as well as the multi-media interface with rear-view camera. The aluminum badge on the center console indicates the production number of this limited special edition car as well as the signature of the employee responsible for the hand-construction of the model.

    KTM X-Bow GT Black Edition will be produced in only five units. They are currently available at a starting price of €99,000.

  • WIMMER Reveals Staggering Pictures and Details of KTM X-Bow GT

    WIMMER KTM X-Bow GT Front ViewHere is the WIMMER KTM X-Bow GT. Regardless of its form, drop top or real Gran Turismo, the car is an emanation of a radical design. R and RR are the model series most famous in the X-Bow trim. They stand out immediately and are driven by preference with helmet, because the windshield does not offer any protection. On the contrary, the GT variant of the X-Bow has a windshield made of heatable laminated safety glass. The side windows of the car are also the doors of the KTM X-Bow GT in the same time.

    The serial power of the KTM X-Bow GT stands proud with 300 HP (220 kW) and 420 Newton meters (310 lb-ft), making it possible for the model to sprint from 0 to 100 km/h (60 mph) within 4.1 seconds.

    The driving experience wouldn’t be satisfying if there weren’t the exclusive aerodynamics. The flat three-part racing sports underbody, overtaken from formula racing cars, provides grandiose aerodynamics.

    In addition, the racing sports push-rod chassis on front axle has adjustable pressure and rebound, is delivered by the WP Suspensions Company, while the braking is ensured by the Brembo braking system that works behind tires of 17 inches on front and 18 inches on rear axle.

    The aluminum roll-over bars, which have been integrated into the monocoque, grand optimal protection too by resisting against up to 2.5 times the vehicle’s weight. Extra safety comes from the crash box on the car’s nose, which has carbon-aluminum-sandwich construction.

  • KTM X-Bow GT Dubai-Gold-Edition Revealed by Wimmer RST

    2015 KTM X-Bow GT Dubai-Gold-Edition by Wimmer Rennsporttechnik Front ViewKTM X-Bow GT Dubai-Gold-Edition is the name of this interesting vehicle tuned by the talented experts at Wimmer Rennsporttechnik. It looks fantastic but a little bit strange, doesn’t it? It also has astonishing power ratings and champion-like spirit. The Germany-based company, which specializes in electronic and mechanical power uprating as well as boost of sports exhaust systems, decided to embark on this one-of-a-kind KTM-related project.

    This strangely looking car is a result of a project which began back in 2006 and was initiated by KTM. Two years later it gave the first fruit, with the release of the first prototype of this “puristic super sports car” named “X-Bow”, which stands for “crossbow”.

    KTM X-Bow is available in three varians, which all aim at sports activities. The first variant is called Street and it is intended for beginners; next comes the Clubsport, which is perfect for the racing circuit; and at last is the so called ROC (Race Of Champions), which has been specifically developed for the professional motorsport.

    Now, this custom made X-Bow GT is appearing on the surface. It was made with the help of WIMMER racing sports techniques team. The team has submitted to a special treatment upon customer’s demand.

    As a result, the car is now more potent, pumping out impressive 485hp (357 kW) and 520Nm (384 lb-ft) of maximum torque. The change has been made via software optimization and various other modifications.

    The acceleration time is also spectacular! The KTM X-bow is capable of covering the 0-100 km/h (62 mph) acceleration sprint in 2.97 seconds and the 0-200 km/h within 9.9 seconds.

    What is more, some of the parts of the car, specifically the large ones, have been gold foil wrapped. So this is why this unique Wimmer KTM X-bow stands under the name “Dubai-Gold-Edition”. Well, the name also shows customer’s origin.

  • KTM X-Bow GT4 Teased With 320 HP

    Austrian automaker KTM has released a new image and additional information of its futuristic GT4 X-BOW race car. The vehicle is a product of the collaborative work between KTM and Reiter Engineering GmbH. It is developed for racing in the SRO GT4 European Championship and Pirelli World Challenge GT-S.

    Underneath the skin of this red automotive monster, there is a 2.0-litre TFSI engine from the Volkswagen Group which will pump out approximately 320 HP (235 kW). This power unit will be mated to a sequential six-speed transmission delivered from Holinger and will be further complemented by paddle shifters. In addition, the new KTM racing car features ABS system as well.

    KTM’s first X-BOW weighs less than 800kg and has a 177-kW-model of the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine. If it can sprint to 100km/h in just 3.9 seconds, I am convinced that the new KTM’s X-BOW will present even more striking performance results.

    From the unveiled picture we can see the aggressive body-look of the KTM X-Bow GT4. It features a glass cockpit with curvy lines stretching to the highly impressive rear wing with matching bold front spoiler. The GT4 X-BOW is said to depict some of the most recently created racing technologies combined with significant safety applications.

    In relation to this, Hans Reiter, the owner of Reiter Engineering, states that: “When you reflect on what the customer is being offered here in terms of the most modern racing technology, together with a very impressive safety concept, then you can really speak about it being exceptionally good value for money.”

    The price of the bespoke GT4 racer is yet to be announced.

  • KTM X-Bow GT By Wimmer Rennsporttechnik

    Wimmer-Rennsporttechnik-KTM-X-Bow-GT-thumbWimmer-Rennsporttechnik-KTM-X-Bow-GT-medium

    It takes a special kind of person to have a look at a KTM X-Bow GT and go: “You know what? I want this to be madder. And I’m not talking madder by a degree. I want this to be able to blow your mind.” Here’s a testament, however, that there are such people. What you are looking at is Wimmer Rennsporttechnik showing off their latest abomination: a stock GT converted it into a machine that is, as they say, beyond recognition.

    Okay, the profile of an X-Bow is very recognizable. Still, the figures sure do go beyond what we expected to hear. The original KTM GT boasts 285 hp and 420 Nm of torque, but the Wimmer people have managed to up the scale to 436 hp and 500 Nm of torque. Zero to sixty miles an hour now stands at 3.3 seconds they say. Although they specialize mainly in chip-tuning and engine modifications, with the KTM X-Bow GT, they have gone the extra mile. Apart from fiddling with the engine, they have added a custom-made turbocharger, a 100-cell sports cat converter with a Y-pipe, an all-new exhaust system , a high-pressure fuel pump, a pre-feed fuel pump, and even a new water pump.

    In addition, Wimmer have thrown away the seats and bolted a set of their own with “orange colored seams”, replaced the gear knob and brake lever, added a sports muffler and finished off with four center lock racing wheels.

    Mad enough? We think yes.

  • Danger of the Desert

    As the unpredictable and often dangerous weather of the Dakar Rally once again reared its ugly head, it didn’t halt the fantastic progress of Team KTM’s bikes.

    The hazardous weather conditions struck stage eleven of Dakar 2013, causing the stage to end early for both the trucks and cars. This news dealt a bitter blow to Toyota duo Giniel De Villiers and Dirk Von Zitzewitz, as they had developed an impressive lead before the stage met an abrupt end.

    When asked about the subject, a frustrates De Villiers said;

    “The decision to take the times at CP1 does not go in our favour but that’s how it is so we’ll have to try again. Everything is feeling really good with the car, I’m happy with how I’m driving and Dirk is find us the right way to go. Today we had the chance to cut about 15 minutes off the gap between us and race leader Stephane (Peterhansel) and that would have increased the pressure on him.”

    The decision to halt the stage also had a negative effect on the overall leaderboard, with Team Kamaz also being affected.

    The trio of Eduard Nikolaev, Ayrat Mardeev and Andrey Karginov were making waves throughout and were setting a good time, that was until the stage was annulled.

    Nikolaev vented his frustration by saying;

    “I’m sad that another stage at this Dakar has been cancelled because I come to race. Also at this Dakar the stages are very short so to lose another stage makes the distance we race even smaller. It seems that every year the race gets shorter and shorter and that is not something we are pleased about.”

    The bike race didn’t suffer the same problems however, as Team KTM took advantage of stage eleven going ahead as planned, with the route between La Rioja and Fiambala giving debutant Kurt Caselli his second stage victory.

    “Today is another stage win for the team and that’s always good. Things are looking better for the team then they were in the first week of the race. The start of the race was a little dodgy for us but things are starting to smooth out and we’re all feeling better.”

    The victory wasn’t just a boost for Caselli, but it allowed team-mate and overall leader Cyril Depres the chance to increase his lead and the gap at the top of the leaderboard.

    Caselli’s victory made Depres extremely happy, who said;

    “The stage was going okay for me but then for the final 60km I got a boost because my new team-mate Kurt Caselli picked up the pace. He was pushing like he does in his Baja races and thanks to him I was able to try and catch his rhythm. It was really helpful for me to ride with him because he really picked things up. The rhythm we had was not really the right way to ride when you are leading a race but it felt good so I went for it.”

  • KTM X-BOW R Price – €58 795

    KTM has officially released the brutal version of X-Bow. The R model is completely revised and now even more powerful. True to the KTM “Ready to Race” motto the “R” model was driven on the road straight from the assembly line in Graz directly onto the racing circuit.

    X-Bow R is powered by a 2.0 litre TFSI petrol engine from Audi, which has been reworked with bigger turbocharger, an altered fuel injection system and engine electronics have been additionally updated by Bosch Engineering Group (BEG) to make sure that all components work in perfect balance. However, the result is more than satisfying – 300PS (220 kW) and 400Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque at just 3300RPM, which is an increase of 60PS over the standard X-Bow.

    Because of the new power, the suspension has been also revised. The engineers installed a new torque arm that is directly connected to the carbon monocoque chassis. With this, the torsional stiffness is significantly increased, especially when accelerating out of corners and the KTM X-BOW R handles even better. Furthermore, the vehicles is lowered with 19mm, which means that X-BOW R can create lateral acceleration of more than 1.5 g.

    Finally, the engineers installed a set of stiffer springs and new dampers.

    All that pleasure comes at staggering price – € 58 795. This is way too much, because X-Bow R is not suitable for everyday driving. Still, if the price doesn’t matter, this is the thrill you need.
