  • Koenigsegg Agera R BLT for China

Koenigsegg has released images of the BLT, which is a special edition of the Agera R.

The exterior features blue tinted clearcoat carbon body reminiscent of the Pagani Zonda Tricolore. There are also red highlights among many other unique features requested by its owner.

“We are thrilled over the result and we hope the customer will like his car as much as we do.”, commented Christian von Koenigsegg.

The Agera R is powered by a 5.0-liter V8 twin-turbo engine which develops 1140 HP (838 kW) and 1200 Nm (885 lb-ft) of torque using E85 fuel. With a curb weight of 1,435kg (3,164 lbs), the Agera R can accelerate from 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and on to a top speed in excess of 390 kph (245 mph).

The standard Agera R is of approximately 1,200,000 EURO. However, the special edition will be more expensive.

  • Ford Shelby GT500 with “the World’s Most Powerful V8”

Ford-Shelby-GT500-thumbThe topic at Ford today apparently is fuel economy. The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 they say, is 1 mpg more efficient than the 2012 model despite the fact that it has 112 more horsepower. Not only that, but there’s also a claim that the 5.8-liter engine under its hood is now the “world’s most powerful production V8” rated at 662 horsepower. Maybe they haven’t heard of the Gumpert Apollo or the Koenigsegg Agera R. But I guess they are in a class of their own.

The 5.8-liter in the GT500 is a typical, lazy rumbling muscle. 395 lb-ft of torque are already at disposal when the rev needle reaches 1000 rpm. More than 90 percent of the peak torque comes in between 2,200 and 5,800 rpm. That thrust availability might be mainly due to the fact that the supercharger alone is 2.3-liters

“Our goal is to create outstanding all-around performance cars, not just stoplight-to-stoplight sprinters,” said Jamal Hameedi, SVT chief engineer. “We’ve backed up this amazing powerplant with a more refined chassis tuning that helps keep the rubber on the pavement without punishing the driver’s spine and six-pot Brembo brakes that dissipate speed with ease stop after stop.”

Indeed, the chassis has been tuned to absorb the road imperfection that can cause instability at high speeds (200+ mph). As a 2013 model, the Ford Shelby GT500 gets a revised front fascia and splitter which improve aerodynamics at 160 mph with around 33 percent over the ones in the 2011 model.

As a result of all that refinement, the Shelby has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 15 mpg in the city, 24 mpg on the highway and 18 mpg in combined. The 2012 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 is underpowered and 5 mpg less efficient. Checkmate.

The 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 will be built at AutoAlliance International Plant in Flat Rock, Mich

  • 2013 Koenigsegg Agera R at Geneva Motor Show

2013-Koenigsegg-Agera-R-at-2012-Geneva-Motor-Show-THUMBAt the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon the brand Koenigsegg have launched the new 2013 Koenigsegg Agera R model, which features the industry first Aircore™ wheel technology, Triplex suspension and the astonishing 1140 horsepower output. An important highlight here is that the 2013 Agera R features the world’s first hollow, one piece, super light carbon fiber wheel. It was made through the method named Aircore™ Technology, which is unique technology developed by the brand. Thank to it, the Aircore™ wheels save close to 20kg in mass, while at the same time providing great integrity and safety. In particular, the only metal part in the wheel is the tire valve; all rest is once piece hollow carbon. Secondly, the Agera and the Agera R include the first production engines in the world which use nano-surfaced cylinder sleeves, which in addition are used for reduction of friction and fuel consumption. Next, it is important to mention that the new in-house developed engine management system provides added functionality and meets all OBD II regulations.

To go further into details, the rev limiter has been raised from 7250rpm to 7500rpm, which allows the power to be raised from 940 (691 kW) to 960hp (706 kW) on 98 Ron (93 din) fuel for the Agera; and from 1115 (820 kW) to 1140hp (838 kW) for the Agera R on E85. In addition, the unique Triplex suspension (which now comes as a standard on 2013 Agera R) was developed by the work of collaboration between Koenigsegg and the Swedish shock manufacturer Öhlins Racing. Furthermore, in the vehicle is also featured as a standard the one of a kind Koenigsegg Electronic Stability (KES). What is more, a new and significantly lighter rear exhaust section has been developed for the Agera R. It improves as well the performance of the rear diffuser. At last, the the new front and side winglets of the Agera R provide 20kg more downforce at 250km/h, as well as reduced drag.

Recent record achieved by 2013 Koenigsegg Agera R:

    – 0-300 km/h in 14.53 sec

    – 300-0 km/h in 6.66 sec

    – 0-200 mph in 17.68 sec

    – 200-0 mph in 7.28 sec

    – A top speed of approximately 440 km/h (273 mph)

  • Koenigsegg Agera R with MOV’IT

Koenigsegg Agera R was introduced at this year’s Geneva Motor Show. The hyper-car is set to dethrone the Veyron Grand Sport on every known discipline.

Agera R is powered by a unique 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with 1115PS (820 kW) at 6900RPM, which is a bit less than the mighty Veyron Grand Sport, but the Agera R is much lighter. The maximum torque is 1200Nm (885 lb-ft) at 4100RPM as over 1000Nm are available from just 2700RPM. The performance is brutal – from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds and to 200 km/h in 7.5 seconds. The top speed is theoretical 440 km/h (273 mph), but the car is electronically limited to “just” 375 km/h (233 mph).

Other impressive result is 0-200-0, which is covered in 12.7 seconds and the stopping distance from 100 km/h to stand still is just 30.5m. However, this is improved by MOV’IT GmbH from Ottersweier in Baden-Wuerttemberg. The manufacturer produces braking systems for Formula 1, so the expectations are huge.

“We are pleased to present both our system expertise and our ability to be an industry partner once again. It is underpinned by our new strategic direction which began together with our reorganization in 2010.  The MOV’IT got its name making high-performance braking systems in the field of tuning and aftermarket in the past, but we have managed to gain confidence of small volume manufacturers and special series of major automobile manufacturers as the real alternative in the course of a very short time. Current accounts, numerous interviews and projects with the most premium German manufacturers emphasize this.” said Frank Scherer, director of the MOV’IT GmbH and CEO of the MOV’IT Group.

The MOV’IT-ceramic braking system helped Agera R to set a new world record for the shortest stopping time from 300 km/h to 0 km/h – 6.66 seconds.

  • Koenigsegg Agera R specs

Koenigsegg has recently unveiled the brutal Agera R at the Geneva Show.

The hyper car is powered by a 5.0 liter twin-turbo V8 with blistering 1115PS (820 kW) at 6900RPM and the red line is a bit after that – 7250RPM. The maximum torque is 1200Nm (885 lb-ft) at 4100RPM, but over 1000Nm is available from 2700 to 6170RPM. 0 to 100 km/h in 2.9 seconds, to 200 km/h in 7.5 seconds.

A really hard discipline 0 to 200 and back to stand still is done in just 12.7 seconds. The brakes are so hard, that when you press them to the metal, you will have the feeling that your face will be taken off. The breaking distance from 100 km/h to stand still is 30.5m.

One of the most interesting about the car is the weight-to-power ratio: 1.19 kg/hp. The car has a curb weight of 1435 kg and with over a thousand horsepower, it is a real adventure to drive it.

Agera R has special Vortex Generating Rim (VGR) wheels wrapped in Michelin tires, which are specially developed for the hyper car and can hold a speeds up to 419 km/h (260 mph).
