  • 2012 Fisker Karma Price – €85 500

Fisker Automotive has announced the all-new 2012 Karma coming with exclusive interior.

Fisker Karma EcoStandard™ and EcoSport™ now include seats, steering, dash, door-casings and centre-console trim wrapped in low carbon leather.

The four-door Karma coupe can accelerate to 60 mph in just 5.9 seconds and to achieve an impressive consumption of more than 100 miles per gallon and 83 g/km CO2 emissions. 2012 Karma is priced at €85 500.  Bridge of Weir will also go on to supply low-carbon leather to the full Fisker range, including the recently announced Surf model.

With a production process supported by Bridge of Weir’s innovative new thermal energy plant in Scotland, Fisker vehicles can boast that even the interior leather is low carbon and manufactured with zero waste.  Opened in 2010, the thermal energy plant is the only one of its kind in the world leather industry, and takes what was previously waste sent straight to landfill and converts it directly to energy for heating the huge volumes of recycled water required in the manufacturing process.

“Bridge of Weir produce the finest leather I have seen in a car, and now that they can do this with zero waste, their low-carbon leather just had to feature in Fisker cars.”, finished Henrik Fisker, Fisker Automotive co-founder, CEO and executive design director.

  • Fisker Karma has achieved 52 MPGe

Fisker Automotive confirms Karma EPA certification, which means that the official rating of the vehicle is already known. It is 53 MPGe on combined cycle. Fisker Automotive’s Electric Vehicle with extended range (EVerTM) powertrain technology clearly represents the future for the automotive industry.

Fisker Karma is powered by two electric motors with combined power of 408PS (300 kW) and 1300Nm (959 lb-ft), which is enough to catapult the car to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and to bring it all the way up to 200 km/h (124 mph).

Another test showed that the Karma’s all-electric range is just 52 km (32 miles), which is less than the original claim of 80 km (50 miles). However, the overall range is more than 480km (300 miles). It is provided by a turbocharged 2.0-liter petrol engine generating electricity to recharge the batteries, when they are depleted.

“We are delighted to have EPA certification and fuel economy ratings that verify the Karma’s remarkable green credentials.” said Henrik Fisker, CEO and co-founder of Fisker Automotive.

“As with all electric vehicles, range varies greatly on the conditions of the road and how you drive the car. We firmly believe that most owners will get up to 50 miles of driving range on a single charge and will use our electric-only mode most of the time they drive the car, thereby running on zero emissions. Overall, we are very pleased with the results of EPA’s tests. The Karma is a groundbreaking product with a unique powertrain.”, he finished.

  • Fisker Karma auctioned for £140 000

Fisker Karma was sold at a charity auction held in Camden’s famous Round House performing arts venue. The price was £140 000 for the very first Fisker Karma to be offered for sale in the United Kingdom.

Fisker Karma is powered by 408PS (300 kW) hybrid system. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and the fuel consumption is just 2.4 liters per 100 km, which is 100 mpg and emissions of 83 g/km of CO2. The top speed is 201 km/h (125 mph).

The car has two drive modes: Stealth and Sport. In Stealth Mode the efficiency is maximized, while in sport you’ll feel the full power of the beautiful vehicle.

Fisker Automotive’s engineering team designed the Karma’s space frame around the car’s unique powertrain, filing for multiple patents in the process.  Benefitting from four-wheel independent SLA (double-wishbone) suspension that also employs aluminum components, the Karma has been specifically tuned to run on standard 22” aluminum wheels, a first for a production car.

Pratham UK is an overseas chapter of the children’s charity founded in Mumbai by UNICEF in 1994.  Its mission is to ensure that every child in India has the opportunity to attend school and receive an education.  Since its inception, the organisation has helped over 36 million Indian children with its literacy campaign.
