  • 2019 Jeep Cherokee wins TOP SAFETY PICK award from IIHS

2019 Jeep CherokeeNew 2019 Jeep Cherokee midsize SUV has earned a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The rating applies for all 2019 Jeep Cherokee models produced after April this year and only when geared with brand’s optional and exclusive Automatic Energy Braking (AEB) technology, Forward Collision Warning Plus and LED projector headlamps with optional automatic high-beam control.

Alongside these upgrades, new 2019 models feature Jeep’s high-strength-steel upgrades as A-pillar and hinge-pillar, which are also among the key engineering changes that contribute to the winning of the prestigious award.

Furthermore, Jeep Cherokee has managed to score the highest “good” results in most of the crashworthiness tests – in all six, three of which simulate frontal impacts. The remaining exams inflict damage done with a side impact, rear impact and rollover.

However, Forward Collision Warning-Plus was grated with a “superior” rating, which is an exclusive award given only to the best and most advanced systems and technologies. This optional feature includes sensor-fusion technology, which blends camera capability with radar detection in order to determine when an impact is imminent. When it does, the gadget warns the driver to take action and if he doesn’t act quick enough, the autonomous braking system engages.

Top Safety Pick rating is also enabled by the Cherokee’s standard LED projector headlamps with optional automatic high-beam control.

  • New Jeep Cherokee is ranked first in prestigious Cars.com competition

2019 Jeep Cherokee For the second consecutive year, Jeep Cherokee, the most agile and capable midsize SUV, is recognized as the winner in Cars.com’s annual American-Made Index (AMI).

In the second year of its revised technology, AMI team has considered five major factors for a winner: assembly location, domestic-parts content as determined by the American Automobile Labeling Act, engine sourcing, transmission sourcing and factory jobs.

The vehicle itself, Jeep Cherokee comes with even more sexy design for 2019 and incorporates the capabilities and power of the agile 2.0-liter direct-injection inline four-cylinder power unit, which on top of all also enhances fuel consumption efficiency up to 31mph.

Confidently meeting the contemporary requirements for a modern machine, new Jeep Cherokee also features a revised fascia, lightweight hood, new LED headlamps design, daytime running lamps, fog lamps and liftgate. Manufactured at the Belvidere Assembly Plant in Velvidere, Illinois, the largest SUV segment in the US, the latest family member is not only bold in design and features, but also safe and agile in any on- and off-road situation.

  • Jeep and Garage Italia Customs honour Montreux Jazz Festival with special lineup of vehicles!

Jeep Renegade VinylSince 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has witnessed numerous celebrities performing and since its early years the fest became one of the most anticipated events in the world. And in order to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Festival, Jeep, in collaboration with Garage Italia Customs (GIC) reveal the Jeep Cherokee Jazz, Jeep Renegade Vinyl and Jeep Grand Cherokee Score show cars.

Inspired by the musical instrument guitar, Garage Italia Customs used wrap-paint, a special technique that results with recreating the classic wood veneer of a guitar. Generally, the process consists two major steps: first, the vehicle is encased in a wood-texture film, then it is painted with great skill and passion. As you will see for yourself, the result is stunning: we see veiled body with black color that elegantly changes to brown. Sweet.

With a drivetrain that is based on the Limited Edition model and which offers 200hp via a 2.2-liter Multijet II diesel unit.

    Jeep Renegade Vinyl

    Jeep Renegade Vinyl

The vinyl, a symbol of a generation and emblem of fine music was the inspiration for this one. The design team recreated the same surface on the body with wonderful 3D-effect double-wrap. Garage Italia Customs applied a series of concentric circles on the body and then completed the visuals with electric-blue wrapping.

The interior is also inspired by the legacy of the vinyl: the Alcantara fabric has undergone some exclusive customization and also reproduces the design of the vinyl even on the seats! Cool!

Renegade Vinyl is based on the Trailhawk and comes with a 2.0-liter 170hp Multijet II turbo diesel unit, mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox.

The unique tribute lineup is completed with Jeep’s flagship model. The sides of the vehicle represent musical scores and are enhanced by brasss-colored notes. Of course, the same concept dominates the cabin: there is Foglizzo leather upholstery with pentagram on the backrest.

This one is based on the 75th Anniversary model and features a 3.0-liter Multijet II 250hp unit, mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The three unique cars also show one more thing: that the two brands have made a step forwards in the collaboration between Jeep and Garage Italia Customs, and we do hope to see some more special cars in the near future.

  • 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Achieves Big Success in Japan

2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk Front viewCan you believe that an American-made vehicle is going to qualify for Japan’s Eco-Car tax incentive? Since we know how eco-minded the people from Japan are and how fuel efficient their cars are, this news seams almost unbelievable. However, it is the absolute truth, since Jeep has announced that its 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is actually to qualify for the Eco Car tax incentive in Japan.

This is actually the first gasoline-powered, American-made, American-brand passenger vehicle to achieve this. And (of course) there are some secrets behind its success. When equipped with the 3.2-liter Pentastar V-6, the Cherokee Trailhawk actually meets the fuel-efficiency and emissions-level requirements tied to the ¥58,000 consumer tax break!

SEE ALSO: Jeep Celebrates its 75th Anniversary With Limited Edition Lineup. Check it Out!

The other details: the Pentastar-powered Cherokee Trailhawk is capable of achieving 10.3-km/L fuel-efficiency rating in Japan, Four-Star emissions rating, and thus can qualify for Japan’s Eco-Car tax incentive, because these are the two requirements. The secrets behind the low emissions are the two mini-oxidation, three-way catalytic converters and four heated oxygen sensors.

2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk's 3.2 liter Pentastar engine

What is more, the 3.2-liter Pentastar is powerful and capable, despite of the low fuel efficiency and emissions. It is rated at 272 hp (200kW) and 315 Nm (239 lb.-ft.) of torque. In addition, it also benefits from Engine Stop-Start (ESS) technology. This helps in increasing the fuel economy by shutting the engine off when the vehicle has stopped, and restarts when the driver has their foot off from the vehicle’s brake pedal.

Another cool efficiency-bettering feature is the TorqueFlite nine-speed automatic transmission. The gearbox is designed to ensure optimum performance. It has four overdrive ratios, which are beneficial in highway driving. At the same time they minimize the overall noise, vibration and harshness.

The Jeep Active Drive Lock, which is Cherokee Trailhawk’s 4×4 system, has a power transfer unit (PTU) and rear-drive module (RDM) that engage and then disengage automatically. This of course, reduces spin losses and saves fuel.

When combined, all of these features contribute for the achieved milestone by the model. But they also make the SUV the most capable one in its class. 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk is going on sale in Japan this May.

  • How to Hijack a Jeep Cherokee Over the Internet? [VIDEO]

Jeep Cherokee Gets HijackedJeep Cherokee models are one of the most famous SUVs around the United States. The fact that many are eager on driving one is indisputable. We found a very interesting video on YouTube, recently published by WIRED’s official page. It previewed how Andy Greenberg’s SUV gets hijacked… by hackers over the internet.

If you think that this isn’t possible, well, given that the technologies are developing unsteadily fast, it is no surprise that people are capable of doing it. The video below shows how two hackers have developed a tool that can remotely kill a Jeep on the highway.

SEE ALSO: Carbon Motors Present Carbon Infused Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8

While, WIRED’s senior writer, Andy Greenberg, takes the 2014 Jeep for a spin, the hackers were capable of sabotaging it from miles away. In fact, the duo developed the software for this particular model for over a year and it does not require any hardware change to the SUV.

Interestingly enough, there are no devices attached to the SUV that will allow a remote control. However, the Cherokee had a weakness, through which both hackers could attack it over the internet. How this has happened, see for yourself and watch it in the video below. I promise it will be very funny.
