  • Meet the 10th Generation Honda Civic Sedan!

2016 Honda Civic Sedan Touring Front View2016 Honda Civic Sedan is the 10th generation of the dynamically styled sedan. It has just been revealed and will be specifically distributed in the U.S. It will go on sale there this fall. The picture gallery below depicts the Touring variant of the model and as we can see it is more athletic than ever and it also seems that it has sportier driving position.

    In Summary

Honda says that the design of the Civic Sedan has been changed from-the-ground-up and it is destined to offer more in terms of performance, fuel efficiency, safety and refinement. For the first time, the Civic will feature two all-new engines that are powerful but at the same time efficient. Combined with a sophisticated new body and chassis, the car is expected to deliver incredibly responsive and sporty performance.

Honda Sensing suite of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies is also included in the 10th generation of the model. This means that there are features such as Collision Mitigation Braking, Road Departure Mitigation and Adaptive Cruise Control with Low-Speed Follow.

2016 Civic lineup will also include smartphone integration with 7-inch high-definition Display Audio touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

    Athletic Exterior Design

2016 Honda Civic Sedan Touring Side View

To get into details about new Civic’s design, we must note that the athletic stance of the car is due to its lower and wider proportions. Compared to the current generation of the model, the new one is 2 inches wider and 1 inch lower. Its wheelbase is 1.2-inch longer and features more compact and sporty front overhang as well as longer hood and fastback-style tail.

Refined design details put the necessary highlight on the appearance. Take for instance the sleek and swept-back bodylines, sharp and aggressive face and the pronounced wheel arches. Exclusive but optional feature is the LED exterior lighting, which includes LED headlights, LED DRL and C-shaped LED taillights.

    More Spacious Cabin

2016 Honda Civic Sedan Touring Interior

The interior of the new Civic features additional 3.7 cubic feet of space, making the space for the occupants larger than ever. Premium goodies are also included inside: automatic climate control as a standard, dual-zone on EX-L and higher trims; auto-up/down front power windows; an electronic parking brake with Brake Hold; Walk-Away auto door locks and an adjustable driver’s seat.

The materials used for the interior are only high-quality and there are more high-contrast finishes. These include a one-piece, soft-touch instrumental panel with molded stitching; full-color TFT center meter; center console with piano black finish and high-contrast sliver bezel, etc. The upper the grade is the more premium the features are.

    Two New Powertrains

The new Civic Sedan will have the option to be equipped with two brand new powertrains. Precisely, Civic Sedan LX and EX trims will be powered by a 2.0-liter, 16-valve, DOHC i-VTEC 4-cylinder unit, which will be mated to either a 6-speed manual (LX trim) or continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT).

On the other hand, the EX-T, EX-L and Touring trims will be driven by a 1.5-liter, direct-injected and turbocharged 16-valve DOHC inline-4, mated to a unique CVT. By the way, the new 1.5-liter powerplant is the first turbocharged engine on a U.S. Honda model. Both engines promise to be performance oriented and at the same time efficient. At last, Honda has told us that more powertrain details and specifications will be announced closer to the launch of the car.

  • Meet the Athletic Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept

Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept Rear and Side ViewHonda is going to preview a very interesting concept study at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The vehicle is dedicated to outdoors sports fans, specifically for cycling enthusiasts, and this is why it is called Civic Tourer Active Life Concept. Dedicated to the active life, this Civic-based model features a lot of equipment necessary for those who seek adventures. And we are definitely looking forward to see it entering production soon.

The car underlines Tourer’s model class leading cargo space and versatility. As a matter of fact, the concept is a very good example how style and space can perfectly work together. For instance, the exterior is painted in a custom shade, which underlines the athletic design of the car, while the interior features all accessories needed for active lifestyle.

    Sleek and Sporty Exterior

Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept Side View

As you can see from the pictures, the external appearance of the car is very sleek and athletic. Designer’s aim was to imbue in this car the sporty and active spirit of its customer’s lifestyle.

SEE ALSO: Honda Civic Tourer Took One More Trophy!

The custom paint finish which I was talking about is blue, but the thing here is that it features lower gun metallic gradation and a silver roofline. This further helps in the emphasis of the Civic Tourer’s sleek and aerodynamic design. The car rides on pretty big wheels, 18-inch of size, so that it can tackle almost any terrain. At the rear, we see custom rear bumper, which helps strengthen the dynamic appearance.

    Accessorized Interior

Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept Interior

Inside, the cabin also includes one-off theme. The blue shade has been repeated in the form of stitching on the steering wheel and on gear shift. And there is even a hint from the Civic Sport and Civic Type R here, and it is the sporty black roof lining.

At the front, the seats are wrapped in suede and leather. They also include a carbon tape with blue piping, which stretches from the centre and along the upper outer areas of the seat, continuing into the suede door lining.

    More Space Means More Fun

Honda Civic Tourer Active Life Concept Trunk

Believe it or not, the Civic Tourer Active Life Concept makes full use of its 1668 litres trunk space and a low loading height. Some of the features, which I find very cool, and come in this concept are the smart loading rack capable of transporting two bicycles. And there is even a retractable arm which can be extended from the rack, and can help you in the maintenance and repairs. So basically this concept is dedicated to all cycling enthusiasts.

Furthermore, Honda also equipped this Civic with other maintenance accessories like the integrated air pump, the large light on the tailgate, the extended shade area and the retractable bench.

There are also other goodies such as toolbox, bottle holder, water tank and a front wheel holder all integrated within the trunk side lining. Clever storage solutions are not absent. On the contrary, Honda’s designers thought that it would be great if they feature here a special aero shape roof box for the essential cycling accessories such as shoes and helmets.

    Guinness Record Winning Engine

Based on the Honda Civic Tourer, the Active Life Concept is too driven by the 1.6 i-DTEC engine. By the way, the unit made a new Guinness World Record for fuel efficiency thanks to achieving an average of 2.82 litres per 100km (100.31mpg) in a 13,498km (8,387 mile) drive across 24 contiguous EU countries.

And at last, if you want to see the Guinness World Record holder and the new concept as well as Honda’s new model range displayed, then you should definitely visit the Motor Show in Frankfurt, where they all will be on display.

Honda Project 2&4 “Honda Project 2&4 powered by RC213V” is the winning entry from Honda’s “Global Design Project” and it will make its debut at the 66th Frankfurt Motor Show. Embracing the concept of “creative craftsmanship”, Honda Project 2&4  celebrates Honda’s position as one of the world’s leading engine manufacturer. In fact, the brand has sold more than 28 million units and numerous more parts, equipment packs and other.

The special vehicle comes with the exceptional RC213V competition motorcycle engine, which was originally developed for the world-class MotoGP motorcycle racing series is now fine-tuned to meet the conceptual and functional requirements of the new vehicle. SEE ALSO: Honda Will Encourage Young Engineers At the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show

Honda Project 2&4 shows what this simulated challenge can generate thanks to the unique abilities and qualities of each participant. Conceived by Honda’s motorcycle design studio in Alaska and designed in collaboration with the automobile design studio in Wako, Honda Project 2&4 aims to create a dynamic and intense driving experience by combining the most thrilling and interesting components of the motorcycle and the car. And as we can see, the result is simply fascinating. It not only demonstrates originality, but also shows glimpses of the not-so-far future.

    Honda Project 2&4

Based on Honda’s heritage, the body structure and engine position have been influenced by the legendary 1965 Honda RA272. The overall length is 3,040 mm, the width is 1,820 mm and the exact height is 995 mm. The weight of this beauty is measured at just 405 kg. Furthermore, the whole construction is especially built to ensure low centre of gravity and increased responsiveness rates.

And the exhilarating feeling from the open cockpit is further enhanced by the driver’s seat position. Furthermore, this special “floating seat” design places the driver as close to the action as possible. Just think about it: a combination of a bike and car. How cool is it?

Honda is planning to make return to its 4-wheel off-road factory racing this November. The well-known manufacturer thinks of doing it the SCORE Baja 1000 desert race with a vehicle powered (obviously) by Honda Performance Development. So, it appears to me as one of the most beloved brands will go back on the road (or off the road?) to remind everyone why is it that good.

Furthermore, the manufacturer teased some images of the race car today, featuring the twin-turbocharged Honda HR35TT V6 powerplant, Albins ST6 Sequential transmission, Fox racing shocs and rugged General Grabber tires. We know that this is not enough to satisfy the desire to know more about the vehicle, but don’t worry. Honda will release more informantion in the days leading up to the Baja 1000 event, held in November this year.

  • Which are the Sweet Spots and Pain Points of the Car Buying Journey?

Beneits and Advantages of Car Buying Experience

A comprehensive research project led by Auto Trader has given some insights of the pros and cons of the car buying journey. More than 1,000 car buyers took part in this study over the last two years. The conclusion made from the gathered data is very interesting and it will help you if you are soon to buy a car.

    Pain Points

Two are the principal pain points for those who buy from a dealer. Precisely, these are the deal negotiations and salesperson pressure. Nonetheless, the study also found out that the consumers’ perceptions of the industry are often worse than reality. In fact, the data shows that 43% feared salesperson pressure and 33% worried about negotiation on areas like pricing, finance and part-exchange in advance of their visit.

SEE ALSO: How to Hijack a Jeep Cherokee Over the Internet? [VIDEO]

Only 21% confirmed the bad experience with salesperson pressure, while 17% did not enjoy negotiating with showroom staff.

The other main concern is finding the right dealer. The research showed that 23% of respondents found this hard, in comparison to the 22% who worried about this in advance.

How to Improve the Car Buying Experience?

Beneits and Advantages of Car Buying Experience Second Image

The survey also revealed buyers opinion on how the car buying experience could be improved. 32% of the respondents wanted the freedom to browse (with no pressure from the salesperson), other 32% needed better information about the real cost of the car, while 31% showed the importance of ‘one stop shop’ to find everything online. 29% of those featured in the study needed clearer information about the pricing of the vehicles, while 28% wanted better information on the best car deals and finance.

    Conclusion

As a result, this study found out that buyer’s satisfaction is most clearly shaped by the offline experience. But this is only at those retailers, which tend to do a great job. Three quarters of buyers were satisfied with the whole buying process and had positive face-to-face interactions. However, there are 57% who need more persuasion when it comes to buying from the same dealer. They said they would be more inclined to go back to the same shop if the process had been better.

  • Honda Civic Tourer Took One More Trophy!

    Honda Civic Tourer

Honda’s Guinness world record for “lowest fuel consumption” is already a reality! And the tough guy this time is Honda Civic Tourer 1.6 i-DTEC. Do you remember, when we told you about Honda’s ambition to drive through all the European countries in order to demonstrate the efficiency of the vehicle? Yes? Well, it is already over. And the car with both the teammates are now home, celebrating the wonderful achievement.

Let us remind you, that Honda team had the ambition to create one of the most efficient powerplants today and to demonstrate it. How? By going throughout all the European countries and driving about 375 miles a day, for about 7.5 hours a day. The result? 1.6 i-DTEC recorded an average of 100.31 miles per gallon over 8, 387 miles in a 25 day drive across all the 24 EU countries.

As you might remember, behind the wheel of the already famous Honda Civic Tourer were the two members of Honda’s European Research & Development (R&D) team, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren. In fact, these two gentlemen were with the highest ambitions to demonstrate what the 1.6 i-DTEC is capable of.

    Honda Civic Tourer

The team started the efficient journey from Aalst, Belgium on June, 1st and started the trip with a clockwise direction. They returned from where they have started on June, 25th. What they have recorded is exceeded efficiency of 74.3 mpg, which is more than 25%. Incredible, isn’t it?

SEE ALSO: Honda Team Heads Up for A World Record

Along with the strict rules of Guinness World Records organization, the team had to drive without any modifications or upgrades, or anything else, that will be considered as ‘lowering the toughness’ of the trip. There was even a rule, that the team had to refill the tank to the maximum every time, or else, it will be considered as a weight loss and sort of cheating. In fact, the whole idea was to show the original and unmodified vehicle in action.

    Honda Civic Tourer

Furthermore, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren are not professional drivers, achieved some additional economy with simple, yet effective tricks. They didn’t drive aggressively, of course, they planned well their trip and they were anticipating and taking seriously the road conditions.

So, what else can we say? Congratulations to the brave team, Fergal McGrath and Julian Warren and the whole Honda crew, who are still working hard to deliver us the most comfortable, efficient and flexible vehicles.

  • 2016 Honda Pilot Debuts With Almost Meaningful Spots

2016 Honda Pilot 2016 Honda Pilot made its debut with an advertising campaign, that will try to convince us, that the room inside is spacious and comfortable, while the vehicle itself comes with numerous gadgets, ensuring it is ready for every situation. In fact, this is the first video. The second spot tries to convince us, that if you sing inside a vehicle, full of nervous people, they will instantly change their mood and will start to sing along. Strangely, when I sing inside a car, the driver kicks me out.

2016 Honda Pilot and the almost meaningful spots

With a bit more details, the first spot, “The Incredible Pilot Elite”, uses a lot of examples to show how the car could deal with every problem and with every situation. In fact, the video is nicely done with lots of eye-catching effects. As you will see for yourself, the 30-second spot demonstrates the spaciousness of the vehicle and the different “smart” technologies, that are ready to serve the driver in every single moment.

The second spot is a bit longer, and it is called “Even Better”. As I said above, the plot takes place at some almost abandoned road with nervous family, tired of driving. Then one of the members starts to sing a well-known song, Weezer’s “Buddy Holly” and eventually all the passengers start to sing happily. In fact, the video clip is directed by the award-winning director Jason Reitman (Up in the Air, Juno), but personally I think this particular spot is not his greatest achievement. However, the video is interesting to watch, even though it doesn’t show anything meaningful.

Of course, this two video spots will not be the only ones, that Honda will use to advertise 2016 Pilot. There will be some more videos, rushed to numerous TV channels and of course, there will be and social media campaign.

So far so good. The two debut spots show almost nothing, but they are still interesting to watch. And we all hope, that 2016 Honda Pilot will be  a vehicle, that Honda team will be proud with.
