  • Hennessey: 30 years of high performance

2021 HennesseyBuilding the world-renowned tuning business on the basis of strong family support is definitely the greatest thing that happened to John Hennessey. Back in 1991, he modified his 300GT VR4 daily driver and competed in the Pike Peak’s Hill Climb and Nevada Open Road Challenge races. Alongside modifying his vehicle, John also married the love of his life in this same 1991 and together founded a business that changed the face of motorsport tuning.

Shortly after founding the company, Hennessey turned his attention to boosting the performance of the new Dodge Viper. By 1997 he achieved an important accolade with his 650hp Hennessey Viper Venom GTS being the first to break 200mph. Since 2006, the company has included its own test track near its headquarters, and engineers are constantly tweaking and testing vehicles that can go above 234mph, for example, the 1000hp Ford GT and the HPE 600 Corvette C7 that can accelerate to 200mph.

By 2010, the business has built its own hypercar, the Hennessey Venom GT. Based on the Lotus Exige, the 1244hp machine weighs only 2743lb and is powered by a turbocharged Hennessey V8 that allows some pretty fast sprints: the vehicle is capable of accelerating from 0 to 200 mph in mere 14.51 seconds. Furthermore, this particular vehicle managed to set a Guinness record for the fastest 0-300kph time (13.63 seconds) in 2013, then set a new one in 2014, becoming the fastest production vehicle in the world with a top speed of 270.49.

The vehicle then presented another project – the 600hp Hennessey Velociraptor, generating 1000hp. Alongside this hyper track, the Hennessey team continued its work with models like 1000hp ZL1 Camaro – named The Exorcist – raising the profile of the business further still.

Today, alongside producing upwards of 500 customer cars a year, the Hennessey team focuses on the all-new 100 percent bespoke Venom F5 hypercar. This one generates 1817hp from the Hennessey-exclusive 6.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 and has a top speed of 311mph.

Hennessey SEMA trifecta Hennessey is perfectly ready to unveil 2875 Horsepower at 2015 SEMA Show this year! Of course, we are not talking about a single car, but a trio comprising of 1451 HP Venom GT Spyder, 774 HP HPE750 Supercharged Mustang Convertible and 650 HP VelociRaptor 650 Supercharged Ford F-150 Truck.

    2016 Hennessey Venom GT

The so called ‘trifecta of speed and power’, starts with the 2016 Hennessey Venom GT. The flagship hypercar boasts a maximum power output of 1451 bhp (785 kW) at 7200 rpm. This is a gain of 207 bhp over the previous Venom which clocked a top speed of 270.4 mph at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida in 2014.

HPE says that the horsepower and torque were increased due to the ability to run E85 Flexfuel which allows its 7.0L twin turbo V-8 engine to increase boost pressure from 19 psi to 26 psi. Putting the power onto the ground are the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. This also happens with the help of GPS-based traction control system. Combined with a curb weight of just 2743 lbs (1244 kg) the Venom GT continues to offer an unmatched power to weight ratio.

The second HPE car at the show will be the 2016 HPE750 Supercharged Ford Mustang Convertible. Due to the addition of a supercharger system, which produces 9 psi boost, the 5.0L V8 engine is capable of generating 774 HP (569 kW). The 0-60 mph acceleration time is estimated 3.2 seconds.

In addition, Hennessey added to the Mustang CarbonAero front splitter, side sills, and rear lip spoiler, in-house made H10 light weight wheels with Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires behind which are the brembo racing brake upgrade added at all four corners. By the way, the HPE750 Supercharged Mustang is the first and only 2015 Mustang to attain a verified top speed of 200 mph.

  • Hennessey Venom GT is on Sale. It Can be Yours for $1.4 Million USD [VIDEO]

Hennessey Venom GT is one of the most famous cars. The coolest thing about it is that it can beat up the Bugatti Veyron with a blink of an eye. On Valentine’s Day 2014 this car set a new world speed record for 2-seater by achieving a top speed of 270.49 mph (435.31 km/h). The record was performed at the John F. Kennedy Space Center on the 3.2-mile Space Shuttle landing runway.

The Director of Miller Motorsports Park, Brian Smith, made the achievement because he was behind. What is left unmentioned is that the car can actually produce 1244 hp from its carbon 7.0-liter twin-turbo aluminum-block V-8 engine.

The aluminum body also helps for the record as well as the massive 345/30R-20 Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires mated to forged monoblock aluminum wheels. Entirely hand built this vehicle also sports Penske double-adjustable coilovers, double A-arm suspension all around and Brembo 6-piston aluminum calipers clamping 15-inch carbon-ceramic rotors.

What makes the Venom GT so strong? The answer is the composite materials and aerospace-quality construction techniques used in its building. In addition, vehicle’s hybrid aluminum monocoque and tubular structure features chrome-moly steel roll-over hoops. This results in fantastic car weight of 2743 lb.

Now this future collectable is going on sale. The initial price is $1.4 million USD, which is absolutely worth it, given that it is faster than the Bugatti. If you are interested in buying it, you can order it now and expect it with a June delivery. And here’s a video of the world record:

Hennessey_VenomGT_WorldsFastestEdition-THUMBTexas based Hennessey Performance (HPE) has just released that it is building a limited run of World’s Fastest Edition Venom GTs. The reason for this celebration is HPE’s recent top speed run-record of 270.4 mph. What is more, the World’s Fastest Edition also alludes to the Venom’s 0-300 km/h Guinness World Record.

Furthermore, the company has announced that this special edition Venom will be dressed in unique livery package in the colors of the U.S. flag: white with red and blue stripes. But why the Venom GT achieved such success. The answer lies behind a simple formula: huge power plus minimal weight.

In addition, the supercar is driven by its 7.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine which generates makes 1244 hp (915 kW). It holds the Guinness World Record for standing-start acceleration, rocketing from rest to 300 km/h (186 mph) in just 13.63 seconds. This power to weight ratio was also made possible thanks to vehicle’s lightweight aluminum construction, carbon-fiber bodywork and featherweight carbon-ceramic brakes.

  • Hennessey Venom GT – 427.6 km/h [video]

Hennessey Venom GT has managed to hit sensational speed of 427.6 km/h (265.7 mph) on the runway at the Lemoore Naval Air Station in California on February 9th. This means, that it is officially fastest than Bugatti Veyron Super Sport, which is limited to “just” 415 km/h (258 mph).

However, the Veyron Super Sport still stands in Guinness Records as the “fastest production car” in the world with 431.072 km/h (268 mph). This won’t stop John Hennessey, who has always wanted to steal this record.

As a reminder, the Venom GT is based on Lotus Exige powered by a twin-turbo 6.2 liter V8 with 1217HP (895 kW) and 1564Nm (1155 lb-ft). The engine is mated to a 6-speed Ricardo manual gearbox. 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 7.96 seconds and 0-300 km/h in just 13.5 seconds.

The car weighs just 1220kg (2585 lbs).

  • World’s Fastest Production Car from 0 – 300 km/h – Hennessey Venom GT

Hennessey Performance (HPE) has broken two sensational Guinness records. The first one is “Fastest Production Car from 0 – 300 km/h” and the second “Fastest Production Car from 0 – 200 mph”. The “tool” was a street-legal Venom GT supercar.

The acceleration time was an average of two runs made in opposite directions within one hour and validated by a VBox 3i GPS-based data logging system. VBox officials were on hand to certify the numbers as required by Guinness rules. The first run was completed in 13.18 seconds with a 4 mph tailwind. The second run was made in 14.08 seconds while encountering a 6 mph headwind. The resulting two-way 0-300 km/h average was 13.63 seconds.

“We are exceptionally proud of our team at HPE who helped to make this new Guinness® World Record possible,” commented company founder and president, John Hennessey.

“This is just the first of several validation tests designed to show the world what our special car is all about – being the fastest. Period.”, he added.

    The Hennessey Venom GT is powered by a 7.0 liter twin-turbocharged V8 – 1,244HP (915 kW) and 1,559Nm (1,155 lb-ft). The curb weight is 1,244 kg (2,743 lbs). So, the power-to-weight ratio is 1.

The street legal supercar has Michelin Pilot Sport Cup DOT-approved radial tires, uses 93-octane pump fuel, and has a full interior replete with high-end stereo, air conditioning, and bespoke leather/Alcantara seats.

  • Hennessey Venom GT: 0-370 km/h [video]

Hennessey has released a new clip, where their Venom GT does 370 km/h. The acceleration is sensational. The small car is way faster than Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport.

Venom GT is based on Lotus Exige, but with enormous twin-turbo 6.2 liter V8 with whopping 1217PS (895 kW) and 1564Nm (1155 lb-ft). The engine is mated to a 6-speed Ricardo manual gearbox. The car weighs just 1220kg (2585 lbs), so the performance is more like a level 5 twister. 0 to 60 mph in 2.5 seconds and a top speed of 443 km/h (275 mph). 0-200 km/h in 7.96 seconds and 0-300 km/h in 13.5 seconds.

The price is $950 000. Not bad for a tuned Exige.

  • Steven Tyler and the First 1244 HP Hennessey Venom GT Spyder

Hennessey-Venom-GT-Steven-Tyler-thumbIf you happen to know a thing or two about rock music then Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler is no stranger to you. If you are also familiar with the car industry, Hennessey Performance should ring a bell as well. Where do these two notions come together? In a Venom GT Spyder of course. The rocker is actually responsible for the creation of this monstrous roadster and he recently had the pleasure to be the first man on the planet to get one.

Back in 2011, Tyler walked in the Hennessey HQ in Texas and asked if he could have one of those Venom GT‘s but with an open top. The tuners considered it, did some structural changes to the rollcage (yes, it needs one) and there you have it – a Spyder. The weight however, went up by around 30 lbs and while that doesn’t sound much, it messed with the power to weight ratio which was originally 1hp for every 1kg. To even things out again, the guys at Hennessey did the most logical thing – more power.

The Venom GT Spyder now develops a healthy batch 1244 bhp. It’s the 7.0-liter twin turbo V8 engine that is actually responsible for it. Those figures supposedly make the Venom Spyder one of the fastest roadsters in the world. The 0 to 200 mph run takes less than 16 seconds, we are told, which puts the Bugatti Veyron Vitesse with the silver medalists.

There will be only five 2013 Venom GTs produced and three of them have already been sold. In other words, besides Steven Tyler, two other people had $1.1 million dollars to spare. That’s a lot of money for a car that’s based on the Lotus Exige. We say that, but actually, most of the original car was left out. Fingers crossed, they kept the suspension for this one.
