  • Startling Mercedes-AMG GT R rivals Porsche 911 with its 655HP

    Alpha-N Performance Mercedes-AMG GT R front view

Alpha-N Performance delivers comprehensive tuning for the sports-car

It is always great to see when a tuning specialist brings out the true potential of a machine so powerful like the Mercedes-AMG GT R. And did you know that with the production of this car, the super-luxury car automaker has aimed at models like the Porsche 911? Well, Mercedes did not keep this in secret, instead released great variants of the GT one-after another.

The Mercedes-AMG GT was launched in early 2015, when it showed-off with its twin-turbocharged 4.0 litre V8 unit capable of 462 hp. The GT S that was released simultaneously was given a little but greater force: 510 hp. But at the top of the range stands the radical GT R, which debuted this June at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Ready or not, it will bring you the experience of 585 hp or exactly 75 more horses than the ultimate rival: the Porsche 911 Turbo S.

SEE ALSO: BMW 1 Series M Coupe has gained an addition of 224 HP. See the Result!

I have just felt how envious Porsche fans became and unfortunately (for them) I have the information that the tuning specialist at Alpha-N Performance managed to extract from the bi-turbo V8 unit even more force.

    Alpha-N Performance Mercedes-AMG GT R engine

To achieve this, they have developed a two-stage power increase program, which featured the Alpha-N EVOX Tuning kit. Lo and behold, the Mercedes-AMG GT R delivers with ease the 655 hp and 790 Nm. To round out everything nicely, the tuning experts added a set of distinctive OZ Racing Ultraleggera HLT alloys, sized at 20-inches, and perfectly complementing the matt white foil wrap.

    How cool is that?

  • Mercedes-AMG strikes again: 2018 GT R revealed!

2018 Mercedes-AMG GT RSo, what do we have here? A premium automobile brand, a premium tuner brand and a street-legal masterpiece: definitely the new AMG GT R is one hell-of-a vehicle. Distinctive and beautiful, the car has a lot to show. And without any further stalling, let’s see what we are dealing with.

    Exterior design

We all know that this is a Mercedes-Benz vehicle and we all know how stylish these cars are. Of course, this one is no exception: we have a low-slung front section, forward-inclined radiator grille that somehow makes a “shark-nose” expression. In fact, the front fascia proudly demonstrates a new jet-wing design that enhances the feeling of massiveness and width.

Spending countless hours in a wind tunnel, the new Mercedes-AMG comes with sleek and aerodynamic profile with elegant lines and overall aggressive appearance.

    2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

Furthermore, the front fenders not only contribute to the overall beautiful expression, but also reduce weight: made of light carbon-fiber, these bad boys add a total of 1.8 inches to the width. The side view also benefits from new AMG Performance forged wheels in matte black. Of course, we do see the brake calipers, painted in yellow. Apparently, the sporty spirit is present and within the side view. And provided that the vehicle comes with high-grade carbon roof, we tend to believe that this is by far the most sporty-oriented Mercedes-AMG machine created so far.

    2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

And last, but not least, the rear end also has some stuff to show: new aluminum side walls that widen the rear with a total of 2.2 inches, which also improves the airflow and leaves space for additional dissipation of the heat generated by the rear silencer. So, what we do have as a result: aerodynamic shape that increases the surface contact and an enhanced drivability blended with striking beautiful and sporty design. Cool, right?

    Interior styling

    2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

The cabin is also heavily inspired by the world of motorsport. Buyers will be pleased to know that the car is geared with AMG Performance Seats with Nappa leather and DINAMICA microfiber components. Also, the wide-looking dashboard looks functional and somehow reminds of an aviation design theme. There are four central spotlight-style vents and concave-shaped door paneling with dynamic central console. Surely the AMG GT-R offers some neat sporty experience, thanks to the driver-focused cabin and all of these small sporty details that make a huge difference.

    Drivetrain and performance

    2018 Mercedes-AMG GT R

Led by the idea of less is more, the AMG team managed to reduce the overall weight and therefore enhance the agility and versatility of the vehicle. Mercedes-AMG engineers used numerous aluminum alloy components for the body and chassis, some steel for the trunk and magnesium for the front deck.

The suspension system was also fine-tuned and systematically designed for racetrack use. Wishbones, steering kunckles and hub carriers on the front and rear axle were created entirely of forged aluminum, while the high camber and the toe-in stability contributes in high cornering speeds and at the same time offers optimum feel for the road when driving with full force.

Also present is the high-performance composite brake system that ensures precise deceleration and high fade-resistance with internally ventilated and perforated 15.4-inch diameter brake discs.

SEE ALSO: If this Mercedes-AMG GT S could only happen…

And most importantly: what does the engine offer? Well, the GT R comes with a handcrafted AMG power unit with 4.0 liters of fuel capacity, offering the titanic 577hp (430kW) and peak torque of 516 lb-ft between 1,900 and 5,500 rpm.

The engine has undergone some special tweaks and fine-tunes and comes with modified compressor machining, smaller wastegate aneroid capsule and sharpened engine mapping. The V8 Biturbo engine also features twin-scroll turbochargers, mounted on the outside of the cylinder banks. This contributes to a compact engine design, better response and better CO2 emission rates.

This unit is paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with modified hardware and software for longer ratio for the first gear and longer ratio for the final ones.

So, do you like it? We are more than excited about the new Mercedes-AMG creation. Write down what you think in the comment section!

  • A GT-R sports car versus a GT-R drone: how and why!?

    2016 Nissan GT-R Drone

Nissan showcases the GT-R Drone: the fastest accelerating First Person View racing drone in the world. Or, at least, it is expected to be.

This gadget was created to be able to keep up with the 2017 Nissan GT-R, while filming on the racetrack and features some of the latest and greatest technologies. It was custom designed by World Drone Prix Champions, Tornado XBlades Racing and uses special race configuration that lets it reach 100 km/h (62mph) in mere 1.3 seconds. Impressive, right?

    2016 Nissan GT-R Drone

And in order to prove itself worthy, the agile drone was challenged on the Silverstone circuit. Both the GT-R Drone and GT-R sportscar showed their best and surely entertained the audience. And when you think about it, it’s not an everyday sight: there’s a 3.8-liter 24-valve V6 beast that is especially created to dominate the most challenging race tracks around the globe and then there is this sweet drone thing that tries to catch on.

  • Meet Nissan’s unsung hero! Paul Eanes and his experience with Nissan!

Paul Eames is a legend. And there are legends about him. There is a guy who claims that he saw how Eames has once eaten a whole Versa Note for breakfast. Other fellows tell the tale of how he uses his GT-R chassis for bed. Truth or not, one is known for sure: Paul Eames is Nissan’s very own tame racing driver and as many car fans will tell you, his identity has been kept secret for a long time.

Paul has played key role in the driving team. He makes sure that every new Nissan vehicle can handle the road and can tackle down all the challenges it is created for. Also, as one of only four expert drivers outside Japan, Paul completes numerous laps of the brand’s various test tracks all around the globe.

And with his 20 years of experience at Nissan, Paul knows exactly whether a vehicle is optimized, fine tuned or not. What is special about this guy is that he can be both experienced engineer and driver and a customer at the same time. This allows him to know what people do want and what he can do to deliver it.

SEE ALSO: 2017 Nissan GT-R debuted at the West Coast Public Premiere

In fact, Paul’s job is not to break his own records and lap times. Yes, he is good at doing it, but what is expected of him is to replicate how Nissan customers will actually drive their vehicles in the real world. And by travelling all around the world and trying out numerous new machines, Paul serves one mission: to deliver the finest vehicles to brand’s customers.

  • Guinness Says Nissan GT-R NISMO is the Fastest Drift Car

Nissan GT-R NISMO Side ViewTwo days ago Nissan announced that the GT-R NISMO is about to make a brand new world record. Now, the Japanese company is absolutely ready to release the full details about the achievement. It has been officially revealed that the GT-R NISMO will be registered in the Guinness Book of Records with its fastest ever recorded drif! What’s only unfortunate is that we don’t have a video to show how the record was achieved.

The first thing we have to say about it is that the drift wasn’t done with a regular GT-R NISMO but with a specially-tuned GT-R from the 2016 model year, which was developed with the support and coordination of NISMO specialists. The company said that the car used for the stunt was uprated to 1,380 horsepower (1,105 kW). In addition, its entire power was adapted so it goes to the rear wheels. Before the special record event, the car was tested at Japan’s Fuji Speedway facility.  Helping Nissan and NISMO was GReddy Trust.

SEE ALSO: New World Record for the Nissan GT-R NISMO? [w/video]

     Nissan GT-R NISMO front View

The second important detail here is that the car was driven by Masato Kawabata, who is the Japanese drift champion and title holder for the Japanese drifting series. Kawabata managed to drift at a speed of 189.49 miles per hour or 304.96 kilometers per hour and 30 degrees angle. Everything was performed during a special event at Fujairah International Airport, UAE.

There were also comments from the managing director of Nissan Middle East, Samir Cherfan, who said that thanks to this Guinness World Records title Nissan made international history for the fifth time in the Middle East. He then added that the “Nissan GT-R is one of the world’s most iconic supercars, proving time and again the incredible breadth of its capabilities, and has clearly demonstrated its performance leadership by beating the best drift cars out there”.

We only hope to get our hands on the footage soon. Stay tuned!

  • New World Record for the Nissan GT-R NISMO? [w/video]

Nissan GT-R NISMO TeaserNissan GT-R NISNMO has a mission and it is to come at you in full force! The Japanese company has just released a teaser video which suggests that the GT-R NISMO is about to make the unthinkable and set a brand new world record. The “anticipation got us glued to our screens” and we immediately watched the video, and I urge you to do the same.

There are not so many details released so far, but we are definitely looking forward to know more. Nissan also assured us that new facts are to come very soon. Another details that gives a hint about the world record, is that the video you can watch below was actually released at first by Nissan Middle East and this means that the record will be probably achieved there.

SEE ALSO: 2017 Nissan GT-R Breaks Cover at the New York Auto Show [w/videos]

From the video we can also tell that the GT-R Nismo appears to look a little bit different. After all, it would be unthinkable to have a brand new GT-R and not to modify the GT-R NISMO.  What we can spot from the 16 seconds footage is the new shifter and the larger intercooler as well as the improved front.

2017 Nissan GT-R was unveiled in the end of March at the New York Auto Show. The most awaited car at the event caused a major excitement during its global reveal. Not only does the GT-R look better, but it also features more expressive interior as well as better driving performance characteristics. So we are looking forward to see what the NISMO variant would look like.

One thing we know for sure: it will feature a lot of carbon fiber and will develop far more than the previous-generation’s 600 horsepower. Stay tuned for the next exclusive news by Nissan. We’ll keep you posted.

  • 2017 Nissan GT-R Breaks Cover at the New York Auto Show [w/videos]

2017 Nissan GT-R Exterior View2017 Nissan GT-R has been just unveiled at the New York International Auto Show. This is probably the most awaited car at the event this year and it caused a major excitement during its global reveal. Not only does the GT-R look better, but it also features more expressive interior as well as better driving performance characteristics. What is more, there are some new extra key features that are making the car even more wanted than before. Here are the details.

    The Changes of the Exterior

The front of the MY17 GT-R is entirely changed. As you can see, the most emphasis of the design has been put on the new chrome matte finish “V-motion” grille, which previews one of Nissan’s latest design signatures. From the grille flows the new bonnet, reinforced and more stable. The front spoiler lip and front bumper have been updated too for more aggressive appearance.

SEE ALSO: Nissan GT-R NISMO N-Attack Supported by STILLEN Makes Record at Nürburgring [VIDEO]

At the sides the changes made to the side sills give them a little bit pushed out characteristic to help improve the air flow. On the other hand the rear features new bodywork, which also helps improve the air flow. There are also new side air vents next to the quad exit exhaust pipes.

The changes made on the outside contribute for sportier looks, but they also make the GT-R more aerodynamically efficient with less drag but with the same downforce. Furthermore, there are fresh exterior paint schemes for the new model year GT-R, including the “Katsura Orange” (depicted here).

    The Interior Design

    2017 Nissan GT-R Interior View

Cabin’s premium interior benefits from entirely new dashboard and instrument panel that are wrapped in the best leather on the market, stitched with TAKUMI precision. From what we can see, we can tell that the dash has been simplified but improved. It integrates navigation and audio controls and bigger 8-inch touchscreen monitor. The centre console has been made from carbon-fibre. The paddle shifts are mounted to the steering wheel, which has new design too.

A detail is that the interior of the Prestige Edition features high quality leather and offers four different options: the newly added Tan, as well as Red, Ivory and all over Black.

    Updates for the Engine

    2017 Nissan GT-R Rear View

The new GT-R is powered by the 3.8-litre 24-valve twin-turbocharged V6 engine. It produces 570 PS (419 kW) at 6,800 rpm and 637 Nm (470 lb-ft) of torque. In other words this means an improved output compared to the previous generation. The powertrain is mated to a refined 6-speed dual-clutch transmission that features smoother shifts and less noise. That familiar GT-R tone also has been “touched” with an engine that has never sounded better. This is due to the addition of the new titanium exhaust and Active Sound Enhancement (ASE).

Running on “sticky” 20 inch tires wrapped around “Y-spoke” machine-finished forged alloys, the GT-R will offer smoother ride quality and one of your best driving experiences ever! 2017 Nissan GT-R will be available this summer, with the famous Recaro Edition soon to be officially announced.

  • Nissan GT-R NISMO N-Attack Supported by STILLEN Makes Record at Nürburgring [VIDEO]

Nissan GT-R NISMO N-Attack Side ViewAs you might have heard #2015SEMA is happening in Las Vegas at the moment. The event will carry on until tomorrow, so if you happen to be there go and visit it. I promise you won’t be sorry. One of the reasons for going there, especially if you are car-fanatic, is the presence of the special Nissan GT-R NISMO N Attack Package. I have already spoken about it, but the surprise here is that this car is equipped with a variety of dedicated optional parts for the GT-R all made by STILLEN.

The special pack comprises of unique and dedicated parts that were developed through the time attack project at Nürburgring in Germany. There, the Nissan GT-R NISMO recorded a time of 7 minutes 8.679 seconds, which is the fastest recorded time for a volume production vehicle. Everything was taped and you can watch the GT-R Time Attack making the record in the video below.

SEE ALSO: Nissan GT-R NISMO N-Attack Package Debuts at SEMA Show

    Nissan GT-R NISMO N-Attack Wing

So, basically, the NISMO N Attack Package was developed specifically to achieve maximum speed. Its aerodynamics is better due to the necessity for superior down-force. In addition, the suspension was improved even further so it can handle the punishing road surface full of undulations and turbulent fluctuations. The car also includes full bucket seats that are necessary for maintaining the best driving position.

And if you have a GT-R already, then you should not wait any longer, but contact STILLEN. The company is official installer and certified sales agency of these parts. And let me tell you a secret: in order to receive the certification for NISMO N Attack Package, STILLEN was trained at the NISMO Omori Factory in Japan. There, its specialists were taught all the techniques required for special assembly processes, servicing and maintenance for each N Attack Package.
