  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse in Action [video]

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition is the most powerful roadster ever created by the luxury brand. It is finished in either Bianco and New Light Blue color scheme.

The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse is powered by the well-known 8.0 liter W16 quad-turbo engine delivering 1200HP (882 kW) and 1500Nm (1111 lb-ft) of torque at just 3000RPM. 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and a top speed of 410 km/h (255 mph). This means that Vitesse is the fastest production roadster ever.

The supercar has new lighter 20” “Vitesse”-type alloy wheels. Bugatti has adapted the brake-cooling system as well. The brakes are unparalleled in terms of stability and performance and now get larger air intakes.

A significant decrease in wind noise was achieved through the newly developed roof spoiler. Another innovation included in the roadster is the new windbreak, which can be stored away compactly in the luggage compartment.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse Special Edition version costs $2 500 000.

  • 2012 Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse

Bugatti has celebrated the world premiere of Grand Sport Vitesse in Geneva Molsheim. 2012 Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse is the most powerful roadster of all time.

It is powered by an 8.0-liter sixteen-cylinder quad-turbo engine with 1200HP (882 kW) at 6400 RPM and 1500Nm (1107 lb-ft) at 3000RPM. The official top speed is 415 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h is just 2.5 seconds. However, the Grand Sport is able to top 431 km/h.

The Vitesse therefore also ensures the supreme range of excellent features one would expect of a Bugatti super sports car, from precise driving dynamics to extraordinary acceleration and braking.

“The rapid success of the Super Sport convinced us to increase the performance of the Bugatti roadster. Once again our engineers worked hard to demonstrate that Bugatti is able to constantly redefine the boundaries of what is technically feasible,” commented Bugatti President Wolfgang Dürheimer.

“We did our utmost to transfer the achievements of the Super Sport over to the Grand Sport, thereby turning open-top driving itself into an extraordinary experience at high speed.”, he finished.

  • Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport at Qatar International Motor Show

Bugatti thumbThe legendary European manufacturer Bugatti took part in this year’s Qatar International Motor Show. This is the second time, in which the brand takes part in the Motor Show. This time, Bugatti has just presented an exclusive and uniquely colored model of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport. In details this is the fastest, most powerful and most luxurious open top car in the world.

The model has a unique color and is made from unique materials, thus making it unique car. It has a horizontal color split with a bright yellow body framed in visible black carbon, including black-tinted wheels. This impressive color contrast is continued inside in the interior of the car with seats finished in yellow-colored leather with black stitching. Additionally, the middle console is in black carbon, while the dashboard, steering wheel and gearshift are made of black leather with yellow stitching. And if you wonder how much such piece of art would cost, well you have to be prepared to hear the sum of 1.58 million Euros. Not a car for anyone, isn’t it?

To go further into details, the last sale of Bugatti Veyron coupé was in June 2011. With this it marked an end to the successful era and exclusive production run of 300 units of the supercar and its even faster cousin the Super Sport. Now the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport includes supreme technology. For example when the roof is on, the vehicle can reach a top speed of 407 km/h, while speeds of up to 350 km/h are possible with the roof off. It is not a surprise therefore, that this makes the Grand Sport the fastest roadster in the world! Moreover the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport 16.4 will be assembled by hand at the company’s headquarters in Molsheim, France. Of course, the customers will have the opportunity to tailor their vehicles to their personal preferences and taste by choosing from a broad array of exquisite materials and colors. This model which is on display in Qatar, demonstrates an ever growing number of options. However Bugatti Automobiles S.A.S. has limited the Grand Sport to only 150 units of which 105 slots are still open.

  • Bugatti Grand Sport Middle East Editions

At the Dubai International Motor Show the legendary French brand presents three very special models of the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport, which is the fastest, most powerful and exclusive open top car in the world.

There will be three models, which fully stand in the tradition of Ettore Bugatti’s constant strive to use new colour schemes and materials to provide his clientele with unique cars for its exclusive taste. Today Bugatti is still expanding the possibilities of options to offer more and more sophisticated individualisation.

The first Grand Sport on display at Dubai Motor Show has a horizontal colour split with a bright yellow body and a underside in visible black carbon, including black-tinted wheels. The striking contrast of black and yellow, Ettore Bugatti’s favorite colours, is continued by seats finished in yellow-colored leather with black stitching. The middle console is in black carbon, while the dashboard, steering wheel and gearshift are encased in black leather with yellow stitching. This Grand Sport model comes at a price of €1 580 000

The second individualized Grand Sport model is also presented in a two-tone horizontal colour split consisting of visible blue carbon, framed in polished, anodised aluminium. The interior of this car is finished with tangerine leather throughout. Only the door panels, dashboard, steering wheel and console are covered in dark blue Indigo leather or exposed blue carbon fibre, with tangerine stitching on the steering wheel and gearshift knob. This special edition model has a price of €1 740 000.

The rims, the exterior rearview mirrors and even the EB-logo at the rear are of polished aluminium to create an elegant and harmonious overall appearance. The interior, especially and tastefully selected, is also dominated in green and silver which matches perfectly with the flamboyant exterior. Bugatti has unveiled Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport L’Or Blanc (“White Gold”) in Berlin. This is a unique model featuring the finest porcelain on its body, as well as in its cabin.

“At first, it seems to be an unusual idea to use porcelain in a car, especially in the world’s fastest convertible,” comments Dr. Stefan Brungs, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bugatti Automobiles.

“But this is what Bugatti stands for: the realization of exceptional ideas whilst striving for the utmost in quality and aesthetics. This allows us to continue Ettore Bugatti’s heritage, who himself loved to experiment with new materials.”, he added.

Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport is powered by a 8 liter 16-cylinder quad-turbo engine with 1200hp at 6400 RPM and 1500Nm between 3000 and 5000RPM. The official top speed is 415 km/h and 0 to 100 km/h is just 2.5 seconds. The car made 431 km/h during a test.

  • The next Bugatti Veyron

A new Bugatti Veyron is scheduled to debut in 2013, of course, if the world don’t end in 2012, hopefully.

The car will be specially created to break the old record of 434.52 km/h, which was set by Veyron Grand Sport.

However, the new hyper car will be also powered by the famous 8.0 liter W16 quad-turbo engine mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox. Still, we hope that the power will be more than the current 1200BHP (895 kW) and 1500Nm of torque. (more…)

  • Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport

Grand Sport. It’s one of the most storied monikers in Corvette’s illustrious racing heritage. Today, Chevrolet announced it is returning to the lineup in the new, 2010 Corvette Grand Sport model. The announcement was made at the 12th annual C5/C6 Corvette Birthday Bash, held at the National Corvette Museum, in Bowling Green, Ky.

The new Grand Sport combines the Corvette’s LS3-based powertrain with unique, wide-body styling and a racing-bred suspension for a distinctive model that delivers a great balance of road and race track performance. It is offered in both coupe and convertible body styles, with either a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. The LS3 6.2L engine is rated at 430 horsepower (321 kW)* and 424 lb.-ft. of torque (575 Nm)* with the standard exhaust system. An optional two-mode exhaust system elevates the power ratings to 436 horses (325 kW) and 428 lb.-ft. (580 Nm).

The Grand Sport replaces the Corvette’s previous Z51 package and brings a greater degree of handling performance, with wider wheels and tires; revised shock, stabilizer bar and spring specifications; and specific gearing. The equipment enables cornering capability of 1.0 g, as well as a 0.2-second improvement in 0-60 acceleration vs. standard LS3-powered models.

Grand Sport coupe models equipped with the manual transmission are uniquely outfitted for race track competition, too, with a dry-sump oiling system, differential cooler and a rear-mounted battery.

The complete list of content and special features for the Grand Sport includes:

    • Wider front and rear fenders – including specific front fenders with integrated Grand Sport badges
    • Z06-style front splitter and tall rear spoiler
    • Functional brake ducts and extra cooling
    • Unique 18-inch front and 19-inch rear wheels; painted finish standard and chrome finish optional
    • Large 275/35ZR18 tires in front and 325/30ZR19 tires in the rear
    • Z06-size brakes, including 14-inch (355 mm) front rotors with six-piston calipers and 13.4-inch (340 mm) rear rotors with four-piston calipers
    • Specific manual transmission gear ratios
    • Specific rear axle ratio on automatic-equipped models

With its special equipment, the Grand Sport offers a unique blend of performance and amenities. Its suspension package approaches that of the Z06, but includes a removable roof on coupes (Z06 has a fixed roof) and, of course, the availability of a convertible body style. Also, the paddle-shift six-speed automatic transmission is offered, while a manual transmission is the only choice with the Z06.

All of Corvette’s exterior colors are offered on the Grand Sport, and an available Heritage package adds iconic front fender hash marks offered in four colors, as well as two-tone seats with Grand Sport embroidery. The Grand Sport can be ordered with 1LT, 2LT, 3LT and 4LT trim packages, too.

    Grand Sport history

Envisioned by legendary Corvette engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov as a factory-built, lightweight and race-ready production model that would trump domestic and foreign road-racing competitors, the original Corvette Grand Sport was a promising idea that led to the production of five special prototypes in 1963. The project was later shelved, following GM’s agreement to stay out of manufacturer-backed motorsports.

The five prototypes were based on the styling of the 1963 Corvette and were hand-assembled under Duntov’s watchful eye. But while they looked like production models, the prototypes were purpose-built race cars that shared little with their assembly-line cousins. Duntov also oversaw the Grand Sport engine program that featured a special, 377-cubic-inch small-block V-8 with side-draft carburetors.

Although never officially sanctioned by General Motors, the five Grand Sport prototypes saw extensive racing experience throughout the 1960s in the hands of “private” racers who had strong contacts within Duntov’s engineering circle. All five original cars are accounted for today and are among the most valuable in the collector market.

Chevrolet offered a limited-edition Grand Sport production model in 1996, commemorating the original racing cars and marking the end of the C4 era in Corvette production. All of the 1,000 examples were painted Admiral Blue and featured a white center stripe and red “hash mark” graphics on the left front fender, a graphic scheme that mimicked the look of some of the original race cars.
