Exclusive news has just arrived from the Lexus brand. It is preparing a great exhibit at this years’ Geneva Motor Show, where it is going to showcase for the first time its “hot” new and exclusive models of 2012 Lexus RX and 2012 Lexus RX F Sport.
Unfortunately, there isn’t any additional information (except for the picture-teaser below), concerning these models, so we have to patiently wait till 6th of March. However, the main attention in Geneva will be put on the European premiere of the Lexus LF-LC Concept Car. More vehicles to be previewed at the show are the all new Lexus GS 450h and of course – Lexus GS 450h F Sport.
Chevrolet will reveal several exciting new vehicles at the 82nd International Geneva Motor Show, next week. The new Cruze Station Wagon will make its official debut and two youth concept cars – the Code 130R and Tru 140S. Last, but not least, the future of on-board infotainment will be displayed in the form of Chevrolet MyLink.
The Station Wagon will strengthen the Cruze line-up with its natural appeal to families and people who want a compact car with more carrying space to fit an active lifestyle. There will be five different powertrains including a new 1.4 liter turbocharged petrol and a new 1.7 liter diesel as well as an updated 2.0 liter diesel. All engines are EURO5 compliant.
New equipment and features on the Cruze include keyless entry and start, rear view camera, Chevrolet MyLink infotainment system (see below) and start-stop functionality depending on trim and engine choice.

The two concepts Code 130R and Tru 140S will also make their first appearance in Europe at the Geneva Motor Show. The turbocharged Code 130R is a RWD four-seat coupe with an upright profile while the FWD Tru 140S is an affordable exotic four-seat sport coupe. The interior of the concepts is very enjoyable, too. The British designers of the concepts, Nicholas David and Joe Baker from GM’s North Hollywood Design Center, will attend the event to explain how the cars were created following the styling and functionality this group of new buyers says they want in a car.
Do not miss the opportunity to check out other vehicles from Chevrolet, which will be exhibited in Geneva.
Images have been released of the European CR-V Prototype which is due to make its debut on the 6th of March. Its purpose is to show the future Honda way of design and style. This one will be the fourh generation of a successful CV-R family, that will go on sale this Autumn.
Differences with the previous model manifest themselves mainly at the front – a more “aggressive stance” thanks to a new fascia. The lower front bumper wraps smartly upward to show off the CR-V‘s SUVishness. It is also said that now it integrates more smoothly into the fascia thus improving aerodynamics. We, frankly, don’t remember the bumper of the last CR-V being dragged around, hanging by a thread. No word on engine bits or interior.
The Honda Press Conference will take place at 09.15 CET on Tuesday 6 March. Hopefully more information will be released there. For the time being we have a gallery in which you can look around.
BMW will exhibit the Concept M135i at the Geneva Motor Show, next month.
The new BMW performance car features a twin-turbocharged straight six-cylinder petrol engine. It will produce more than 300PS (220 kW), which will be sent to the rear wheels. This makes the M135i a unique vehicle in its class ensuring unsurpassed driving pleasure so typical of a BMW.
But the M135i will also benefit from a new sports suspension technology that includes an M sports braking system and is perfectly adapted to match the supreme road performance. A set of 18” M light alloys with a double spoke design are fitted with low profile performance tires.
The exterior features new front apron, large air intakes, new rear apron and double tailpipe sports exhaust system in dark chrome.
Thanks to a distinctively sports-oriented appearance, the BMW Concept M135i offers attractive prospects for the further development of the BMW 1 Series model range. At the same time, a clear signal has been given for the expansion of the new product category of BMW M Performance automobiles. The BMW M Performance automobiles being presented at the Geneva Motor Show and shortly to be launched are powered by the world’s most high-performing six-cylinder diesel engine available for series production vehicles. The petrol-fuelled models in this product category will also assume a similar unique position.
The pre-series concept car BMW Concept M135i offers a fascinating outlook on a corresponding offer in the premium compact segment.
Abarth brand at the Geneva Motor Show is going to have spectacular presence! There will be presented some of the highly anticipated models by the brand. The all new Abarth 695 Assetto Corse is a small super-sports car designed for racing on the track, which will make its world debut at the show. In addition, the new model Abarth Punto Scorpione will also make a debut. This is a Limited Edition and is dedicated to all those who love high speed and performance. Another milestone on the “road to performance” is the new Abarth 595 which actually is a remake of the popular 595 model that Karl Abarth presented in 1963. It now carries enhanced performance features of a “basic” car, offering a power upgrade to 160 HP (118 kW) as standard. The new Abarth 595 is going to be offered in two variations: “Competizione” and “Turismo”.
First of all Abarth 695 Assetto Corse is designed for track racing and depicts the continuity of the historic 695 brand that came into being in 2009 with the 695 Tributo Ferrari. The car also appears to be a continuation of the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse. Furthermore the 695 Assetto Corse is characterised by an aggressive front decorated with a badge bearing the Abarth logo and, underneath, a broader bumper complete with aerodynamic spoiler and screen-printed grilles instead of the plastic masks of the standard version. Under the bonnet there is a 1368 cm3 turbocharged engine that delivers 205 HP (151 kW). The rear of the car features a winged spoiler, a badge bearing the Abarth logo and a twin exhaust pipe. The 695 model sits on 17″ light forged racing wheels, enriched with new floating, perforated and self-ventilated front disc brakes and perforated rear disc brakes. More importantly, there is included the Sadev sequential gearbox with a specific ratio that when combined with a metal-ceramic twin plate clutch reaches absolutely top performance in its category. The interior of the car contains all of the safety equipment required by FIA regulations, including a roll-bar welded to the body that has been further optimised to improve its torsional stiffness.
Abarth 695 Assetto Corse
The next Abarth which will be on display in Geneva is the new Punto Scorpione, which expresses the Abarth Punto’s sporting characteristics. The Limited Edition Scorpione is intended for a more mature audience that wishes to express their sporting spirit more discreetly and elegantly, but with no intention to settle for less. Only 199 examples of the model are producesed. The exterior is distinguished by a ton-sur-ton livery where the Scorpione Black of the body becomes matt on the bonnet and roof. The glossy black “passband” element stands out on the latter, with a hand-polishing treatment carried out at Abarth&C. itself, with a view to ensuring customisation with genuine craftsmanship. Moreover, it is equipped with a 1.4 MultiAir engine boosted to 180 HP (132 kW) at 5750 rpm and with a maximum torque of 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) at 2500 rpm, the Abarth Punto Scorpione reaches a top speed of more than 216 km/h and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.5 seconds. The car has glossy black 18″ alloy wheels and front and rear Koni shock absorbers with FSD (Frequency Selective Dumping) valve and specially lowered springs. The exhaust pipe, oversized in the central section, is taken from the now famous “Esseesse” kit. The interior of the special Abarth Punto Scorpione features “Abarth Corsa by Sabelt” black technical fabric seats, with red and yellow stitching and matt black backrest, type-approved and lightened in keeping with the car’s sporting spirit.
Abarth Punto Scorpione
Next the attention will be put on the two new models featured in the Abarth 500 Range: “Turismo” and “Competizione”. In both customisation options, the car is fitted with a 1.4 Turbo T-Jet engine whose power has been increased to a good 160 HP (118 kW) thanks to the standard engine tuning kit. The car has 4-cylinder 16-valve 1,368 cm3 engine (with fixed geometry IHI turbocharger), which delivers thrilling torque of 230 Nm (170 kW) at 3000 rpm in Sport mode, top speed of 211 km/h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7.4 seconds. These results are due to the overboost function, activated using the “Sport” button, which modulates control unit mapping and turbo pressure, in addition to load on the steering wheel. Yet this trademark Abarth performance accompanies fuel consumption: 6.5 l/100 km in the combined cycle. Furthermore, in the both models is included the TTC (Torque Transfer Control) device as standard, which by enhancing the transfer of drive torque to the wheels, improves the car’s road holding without compromising fun at the wheel. The vehicled is equipped as standard with Xenon headlights with dipped and driving light functions for improved light emission and excellent performance in all weather conditions. These devices deliver three times the light intensity and duration of standard halogen-lamp headlights. The “Turismo” model sits on magnesium-coloured 17″ alloy wheels with GranTurismo-inspired design, which contributes to the car’s elegance. It also comes with electrically operated manual Abarth Competizione gearbox with controls on the steering wheel as standard. The second model “Competizione”, is dedicated to more extreme sports enthusiasts, to the true “racing purists”, and for this reason it has 5-speed manual gearbox which improves personal driving style through a more direct relationship with the car. This version sits on 17″ titanium-coloured alloy wheels, with yellow Brembo brake calipers. As for the “Turismo” version, side and tailgate respectively are enhanced by the 595 and 595 “Competizione” logo, both in aluminium, just as the front bumper grille and extractor are titanium grey. How about the interior: they also have sporty and aggressive personality, thanks to the “Abarth Corsa by Sabelt” leather and leather-coloured Alcantara seats, bearing the 595 logo embroidered on the integrated headrest. At last, the gear lever knob, sill plate, pedal unit and aluminium kick plate are all decorated with the Abarth motifs. The complete style of the cars is finished with matt titanium side stripes, which also feature on the mirror covers.

World Premiere: the BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe
BMW 6 Gran Coupe (2013)
The BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe is a response to the current rivals, the Audi A7 and the Mercedes-Benz CLS. It is a 4+1 Coupe that is supposed to combine the incomparable sporty spirit of the 6-series with the practicality of a sedan. When compared to a standard 6 series Coupe, the Gran Coupe is wider by 4.5 inches and longer by 4.4 – that makes it a big, big car. At the start of this Summer, the Gran Coupe will only be branded 640i because of its TwinPower Turbo, 6-cylinder engine. However, later this summer a V8 650i will also be offered as well as an xDrive 650i. The price of the 640i is the only one given yet – $76,895. Whether this blend of practicality and lunacy has the best of both worlds or the worst, only time will show.
World Premiere: The New 2013 BMW M6 Coupe
BMW M6 Coupe (2013)
Now entering a 3rd generation, theM6 Coupe is here to dominate the world of grand touring with more power, efficiency and dynamics. Thanks to its marvelous V8 M TwinPower Turbo engine and BMW‘s EfficientDynamics, burning rubber has never been that cheap. Torque is conveyed trough a 7-speed M-Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT) while an Active M Differential optimizes power transfer between the rear wheels. Needless to say that behind all that power and frugality, there is also the backbone of every car – the chassis. It has been tuned by M engineers and employs a Variable Damper Control (VDC) system, DSC, ABS, CBC and DBC. The M6 itself can come as a Convertible if you need wind in your hair and tan on your face.
World Premiere: BMW M Performance Automobiles
BMW M550d xDrive Sedan (2012)
The “M Performance” niche is a string of xDriven diesels that aims to set new standards. The BMW M550d xDrive, M550d xDrive Touring, X5 M50d and X6 M50d do not have the blistering performance of the more powerful M petrol line but they are out there – Under the hood in each and every one, hides a state-of-the-art TwinPower tri-turbo, common rail injected engine that feeds 280 kW/381 hp and 740 Newton meters (546 lb-ft) of power trough an 8-speed sports automatic transmission. And despite the lack of M wheel arches and numerous tail pipes, the M Performance BMWs have M tuned suspensions – subtle, discreet and serious. With that configuration, a BMW M550d accelerates in 4.7 seconds from zero to 100 km/h, while its average fuel consumption in the EU test cycle is 6.3 liters per 100 kilometers
Premiere: BMW 116d EfficientDynamics Edition
BMW 116d EfficienDynamics Edition (2013)
Porbably the most frugal car in the BMW lineup, the 116d EfficientDynamics Edition is powered by a 85 kW/116 hp TwinPower Turbo diesel engine that goes easy on the fuel (EU test cycle is 3.8 liters per 100 kilometers) thanks to the EfficientDynamics system which incorporates a Stop/Start system and braking energy storage.
World Premiere: The New Updated 2013 BMW X6.
BMW X6 (2013)
It’s an updated version of the most premium SUV out on the markets. It has poise, it has agility and it has comfort. This ultimate X model comes with xDrive (naturally), still makes use of the company’s Dynamic Performance Control and it utilizes TwinPower Turbo Tech in the form of two engine choices. Visually the 2013 X6 now has bigger kidney nostrils and a better place for its fog lights. At the back, the taillights are also restyled and if that’s not enough light for you, it can be ordered with optional LEDAdaptive headlights.
BMW i3 Concept and BMW i8 Concept
BMW i3 & i8 Concepts
Closer than ever to production, the i3 and i8Concepts are after all still be at the Geneva Show just to amaze the people there. They serve as an example of BMW‘s plan for a sustainable, electric future. Production of the “first electrically powered premium vehicle”, the i3, is expected to start early in 2013 while the plug-in performance hybrid, the i8 might be coming down in 2014.
Other highlights of the BMW booth include the arsenal of originally made accessories for that extra look and feel of the new 3-SeriesSedan – anything from unique 20 inch wheels to a fitted indoor/outdoor car cover. There will also be M Performance packages – Parts designed by the M division for the enhancement of standard BMW’s. We are talking about powertrain, suspension, aerodynamics and cockpit components that provide a tangible increase in driving dynamics by enhancing engine power, reducing weight and optimizing aerodynamic properties. Whether we have a 5-series or a-3 series or even the 1s, all parts are designed to belong.
2012 KIA Cee’d is going to make a major come back at this years Geneva Motor Show. The all new version of the vehicle now has even more elegance and is expecting to achieve great success. It offers a combination of dynamism, sophisticated styling. The all new 2012 Kia Cee’d five-door hatchback is longer, wider and lower than its predecessor. However, it retains the same long wheelbase. The elegant coupe-like proportions are emphasised by a steeply raked A-pillar, a very low belt-line in the front and lengthened side windows. The front part of the exterior represents the latest interpretation of Kia’s trademark – the ‘tiger-nose’ grille and aggressive, wraparound headlamp clusters housing signature LED daytime running lights.
Next, when looked from the side the vehicle impresses with its wide track and solid stance. At the same time the strongly sculpted door surfaces, the steeply raked A-pillar, sweeping roofline and integral rear spoiler emphasize the sporting aesthetics of the cars generous glasshouse. Moreover the entire exterior is improved by numerous small yet highly significant detail touché. They add to the prestige and premium feel of the new Kia Cee’d. In details, they include new sophisticated Kia badge, the indicator blade protrusion in the front headlamps, the Kia-signature windscreen head castellations, the chrome side glazing surround and the cee’d-unique, aerodynamic shaping of the tail lamp which extends into the bodywork.
2012 KIA Cee’d
The interior of course, has been completely remade. It now offers more premium look and feel, higher quality, improved switchgear, touch-screen technology and enhanced driving position ergonomics. In particular, the dashboard layout features a cockpit-like design with an aircraft-themed, driver-oriented frontal look. In addition, the main control panel wraps around the steering wheel, placing all switchgear within easy reach of the driver, and the main control groups such as audio and air-conditioning have been segregated to bring a more premium, luxurious, big car feel to the interior.
Soft touch high quality materials were used in the creation of the interior, and they add a new tactility to the driving environment. Instruments and switchgear are picked out in very thin chrome, the door handles are built up in a layered sandwich of high quality materials and the door opener itself has a sculpted, one-piece, shell-like quality.
Nissan is offering some insight of what they have in store for us, the people at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Among the many production vehicles that will take part next month in the show, are also four premiering concepts – first seen in Europe are the e-NV200 and Juke Nismo concepts while first ever are the INVITIATION, on which we had news recently here, and another concept that is still a hard kept secret and a surprise, Nissan say.
The e-NV200 is based on the already successful NV200 which the small difference of being 100% electric. The e-NV200 is the next phase of Nissan‘s dominance on the EV market which began with the multi-award winning LEAF.
The Juke NISMO concept was fist seen on the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show back in December and now it will be in Europe for the first time. NISMO is Nissan’s motorsport branch which has taken up enhancing everyday mainstream production vehicles to give them that unmistakable feel of a NISMO performance car. They have certainly went the extra mile with the Juke and left it with with an outstanding character and plenty of grunt.
Production vehicles that will be making an appearance at the Nissan booth in Geneva represent a versatile bunch: From Pixos and Micras to Jukes and Qashqais and even Pathfinders and Navaras. The LEAF and the mighty GT-R will also be there to enchant the public. The common thing however, is that all participants will feature a minor MY2012 Innovation or a special edition.
The other thing that can be found in every single model is the shared Nissan DNA which is the reason for the company’s success – despite the economic downturn, Nissan in Europe enjoyed its best year in 2011. Sales were up by 25 percent in comparison to 2010. Who knows how much is that number going to climb this year.
Big news! No really, the Fiat 500L (L for “Large”) will be making a debut on the 82nd Geneva Motor Show and today we have the first official images of it. Supposedly it will be targeted at people who want an SUV with MPV passenger space in a B car segment of restrained dimensions and efficiency (picky). The 500L, which complements the 500 Abarth and Cabrio versions, is Fiat‘s best shot at that.
Dimensions stand at 414 cm of length, 178 cm of width and 166 cm of height while inside the single-volume cabin offers seating for five. It is a further development of the concept of ‘cab forward’ introduced by Fiat with the 600 Multipla, a precursor to the concept of the compact people carrier.
The 500L wont hit the European showrooms until the last quarter of 2012 with three engine choices: the TwinAir (2011 international engine of the year), a 1.4 unit and a turbo diesel, 1.3 Multijet II. Although the MPV/SUV/Estate Fiats 500 will hold the latest of Fiat Group’s technology, production will be based in a Fiat factory in Kragujevac, Serbia.
On the 82nd Geneva Motor Show, The Japanese performance/luxury car producer, Infiniti will introduce an advanced sports car concept. Up to this day not much has been heard about it but facts are now starting to emerge as the concept will be called… EMERG-E, an electric car. For Infiniti, having a range-extender drivetrain among their products will be a first. Despite of that, the company promises vivid performance and naturally, zero emissions
The reveal will take place on March 6 at the Infiniti stand, number 1030 in Hall 1, at 10:15CET. For those who wont have the privilege to walk around among the many, many exotic cars at that day in Geneva, Infiniti will provide a live stream on www.infiniti.eu
